Devise 4,475 Posted June 25, 2014 Share Posted June 25, 2014 As some of you may know this coming off season the VHL will have a Super Cup tournament for only the second time. Those of you that were around last time out will also remember that it was kind of a mess in terms of how it was run. The last few seasons the BoG has been brainstorming on little changes and getting it better organized this time out. But we can start by breaking down what the Super Cup is for newer members and those who forgot. The Super Cup is a VHL fantasy draft tournament that includes every active player from both the VHL and VHLM. There are six teams total, all named after a select group of HoF inductees. GMs are selected and then we have a draft to fill up the teams. Teams fill up entirely as well, 12 forwards 6 defenders and two goalies. The draft will have a lottery and is held in snake format. Regarding the format of how the tournament is played, there will be a mini season consisting of 20 games. Each team plays each other 4 times. At the end of the season we have a best of 3 playoffs to determine the Super Cup Champion. Now as far as changes; We will now be hiring a Super Cup Commissioner to hire GM's, set up the draft, do stats, and help keep the event running smoothly. The draft will also be held live on one day as opposed to across many days as we did last time. The World Cup commish will also provide GM's with two lists, dividing the actives from the inactives. An inactive will be determined by the VHL standard rules. GM's may not select an inactive until the entire active list is depleted. Lastly all six teams will make the playoffs. The top team in each conference will receive a bye with the other four battling it out in the first round. The timeline for the Super Cup will run similar to the World Cup. The Commish and GM's will be selected during the first round of the VHL playoffs with the draft, client file and lines set up and ready to go by the time the playoffs end. The first Super Cup games should be simmed at the off season starts. So if your interested in being a commish or GM apply, otherwise get excited for some Super Cup action.
