    Sterling Mallory Archer

A native of Tangier, Morocco, Sterling Mallory Archer, spent many years as a secret agent for ISIS (The International Secret Intelligence Service) where his peak physical fitness allowed him to excel into one of the best agents in the world.

At 184 pounds and 6'2, Archer has found that he may be a bit too much on the lean side for the game of hockey and may have to bulk up a bit before he takes to the ice against men much larger than himself.

It is quite common for younger players to think they can zip around the rink, using their speed and elusiveness to roll away from checks, time and again that has come back to haunt all but the biggest and the strongest of the new rookies, Archer was no exception to this, being absolutely rocked several times before finally learning to keep his head up and continue moving, using his puck handling and skating to keep the puck away from defending players and keep himself from getting stapled to the boards.
His mother, Mallory, has shown extreme distaste for the game of hockey, of course which drives Archer to perform even harder every night and is what drove him to try out the game after visiting Canada and his mother commenting on the brutality of such an aggressive redneck sport before returning to her phone call from Nikolai Jakov.

Archer had decided then and there that he would be a star hockey player, if only to piss off his mother. It was similar in structure to lacrosse, a game at which he excelled, so the transition was a bit easier and the great hand eye coordination gained allowed him to develop strong puck handling skills, which unfortunately seem to be countered by intoxication most of the time.

Originally wanting to play goaltender, Archer was forced out his net, not by a better goaltender being found but upon the coaches discovery he was filling his water bottle with high alcohol content moonshine. This became a prevalent problem in the third period where Archer would be found to be quite trashed and almost completely useless, getting scored on six times in a four minute span before being pulled and replaced with Barry Dylan, whom he despised enough to begin a fight with his own teammate, resulting in an ejection and game misconduct.

Archer now will be playing on the wing, where he can fire shots on net and fight other players without fear of league repercussions. Hoping to increase his play, he has worked nonstop on his defensive awareness, practicing retrieving the puck out of the corners and being in better position,  he received yet another suspension for tazing an opponent in the corner while retrieving a loose puck.

So far, Archer has had great difficulty transitioning from a secret agent to a professional hockey player, but in time, he should turn out to be a star. With his fellow teammates sparked and driven to succeed in the cold northern Yukon territory of Canada, it shouldn't be too long.

    Pros and Cons

To examine him as a player though, you can see that while he does have flaws in that his chronic alcoholism has stood in the way of his progress and success, especially in regards to his reflexes and coordination, it has not been entirely detrimental to his play, especially as a winger who carries the puck. Due to the alcohol numbing his body, he takes numerous thunderous body checks nightly, but keeps getting up, relying on a half bottle of painkillers and a morphine drip to go to sleep each night.

A player as loyal to his team as Archer is, only comes along every so often. Willing to put his body through hell in efforts to block a shot, being willing to fight guys twice his size when they take liberties against his teammates and going into the corner with huge power forwards bearing down on him, he seems to have a desire for injury and that may be seen as a bit of con to some and a pro to others

While working on his defense, none of his other skills were practiced and he became quite useless in most other areas. Unable to focus on one thing too long as a hockey player, transferring over from secret agent where he had one goal in mind, he has so far been unable to coordinate an offensive system with his defensive play, choosing to pass the puck even on empty nets.
Whether this is a selfless act or simply because his shot is so poor he'd likely miss anyway, is left to debate. Speaking of his shot, it is among the worst the league has ever seen, scoring only once on over six hundred shots over his three season career in the minors on a deflection off the goalies ass.

Another con may be his fear of alligators, crocodiles, and brain aneurysms. Which has made playing in  Florida an issue as he tends not to sleep a wink, instead sitting on the top of the hotel with a loaded handgun awaiting a surprise attack by a reptilian death machine. A reason he would never return to the goaltending position is because of the poor play of his teammates, who nearly did give him an aneurysm, causing him to lose focus and drink more, which directly led to him losing that job.
For now, he will start practicing being a sniper.

This is definitely different and cartoon renders are definitely hard to work with. The colours look a little crazy but I think that kinda works in a way on this one. Lighting is iffy but realistic lighting on that render wouldn't work anyway. The text is my main concern. The font choices are odd, the positioning is distracting and they are over-blended. Archer's animation style has very defined strokes on the edges so I think text trying to utilize that style might have looked good on this piece.

    No Rush

The call came in the early morning, as Archer turned over to grab the phone his arm ran across the girl next to him, Amy or Sharon, Melanie, whatever her name was, he reached past the empty alcohol bottles, and picked up his phone.

It was showing a number from the Yukon, in Canada. Twenty minutes later, Archer was packing all his tacti-necks, as well as all the warm clothing he could find, as he was heading to the Yukon to play for the Rush, not his preferable location, with the lack of scantily clad women in bikinis on the beach, but with the cold and the dark of the arctic nights, he was sure he could find someone to help warm his bed before he and some other girl found their way back to it later

His first season, a very raw rookie, in Yukon showed him to be one of the better players on the ice throughout the first handful of games, perhaps due to his defensive awareness and positioning.

"It's all about being in the right place at the right time and the puck not in any danger in your own zone, you need to get the puck away from your zone if it is in danger."

That is true, Archer, having the puck on your stick and actively making shots on your opponents net is what leads to goals. Who said you were a bad hockey player?

"Someone said I was a bad hockey player? Who? I'd like to have a few words"

Relax, it was a figure of speech, Sterling. Meaning to say you are a lot better than expected.

    "Than who expected"

You know what? Never mind. So with Archers shot having put up 8 goals and 10 assists, good for 5th in league scoring, it shows that through dedication and effort, you will see results.

"What? I show up drunk off my ass every practice and have been trying to get with the puck bunnies since I stepped off my plane."

Wait, what? So how have you had time to practice?

"Well I am practicing my stick handling skills, so maybe that has to do with it."

The Rush themselves are doing well, with 7 wins in 12 games, they find themselves in a three way tie for 2nd place of the eight minor league teams and are doing everything they can to cement it and move up to even bigger accomplishments, namely a championship.

"That is my first to-do, I want to win a championship and I want to win one really soon."

You have that winners dedication, that drive to be the best, huh.

"Oh no, can you imagine the amount of booze and women at the after party? I wouldn't be able to move an inch...not that I would."

Do you think of anything besides women and alcohol?

    "Yeah, crocodiles, alligators, and aneurysms."

Those are pretty scary yeah, why do you think of them?

"Well, I have a fear of the first two, because of what they are, aneurysms can spring up anytime and without notice."

Yeah, You could have one in the next thirty seconds.

"Oh god, no. Don't even put that in my head. AHHHH! Now I can't stop thinking of it, you asshole."

Well I guess that concludes my interview?

    The Return

After entering the VHLM 20 games into the season, Asher Donovan was claimed on entry waivers by the Yukon Rush and he was very excited to join a professional team. The excitement only lasted four games as Asher was moved to Saskatoon in order to help bolster their playoff push. After spending much of the 48th season with the Wild and being eliminated in the playoffs Donovan has been drafted back to the Rush.

Donovan was drafted second overall by Yukon in the dispersal draft and the excitement to return back to the North so close to his home of Yellowknife returned. It appears as though Asher will be sticking around for a longer time and with new management in place there is new life in the organization. Players such as Sterling Archer, Izidors Balders and JJ Dynamite are a part of the resurgence that sees the Rush so close to the top of the standings.

    Player Highlights

Sterling Archer appeared to be an early bust who never had passion for the game and was instead considering joining his mother in the espionage business but after some persuasive arguments from teammate Asher Donovan it appears that Archer is back in full force. Archer currently leads the team with 18 points in only 12 games which puts him in the running for top scorer in the VHLM this season.

Izidors Balders is a rock on the back end and provides a calm steady presence for the high flying forwards on the Rush. Izidors has one of the best outlet passes in the VHLM and is second on the team in scoring with 14 assists and 1 goal in 12 games. Teams need a player like this if they want to be taken seriously come playoff time.

JJ Dynamite is one of the better scorers on the team and centres the first line with Donovan and John Syeschel. Only fifth on the team in scoring despite having 12 in 12 the biggest skill JJ brings is faceoff prowess, having won 57% of his draws ensures that his team has the puck often enough to put in work. Definitely an underrated player who will shine in the playoffs.
Jake Steel is yet another high scoring forward who has 13 points in 12 games which puts him third on the team in scoring despite being on the second line. While Steel doesn't bring the same energy to the practice rink he used to he still finds a way to be useful and contribute to the success of the Rush.

Loune Beaver is the final player in our highlight section here. A typically hard working player who doesn't shy away from practising has been absent in recent weeks and it shows on the scorecard, despite centering two players over a point per game Beaver has only 10 points in 12 games. Much like Dynamite before him he brings a faceoff talent that puts him in the upper echelon of the league. Loune's 63% is good for fifth in the league and is a true boon to his team and is a big reason that Archer has the success he has.

Seems to be whatever floats your boat. As for gaining TPE daily, it's not that steady but there usually seems to be a handful of things to do each week to gain it.

Kendrick, who are you on there?

    Vic, I open in order
    SHL, VHL, VFC, GOMHL

Check LRs, do AC and training, and see whats happening around the league. So it fits nicely into the routine.

I have to say, the functionality of this site > SHL

The quoting, uprepping, message system, all vastly superior. I can't figure out why this place isn't more active than the SHL besides maybe how long it takes to get your player half decent. I'm active because I know people here and already have sim league experience, but can't say I'd have stayed otherwise. I mean, I did 2,000 words for 18 TPE, which it is the single largest gain I can make. Now adding a point here and there will not seem to make a difference for a long while.

And because we are human, we want instant gratification, which is a bit easier to attain on the SHL. Otherwise, I actually like this place just as much.

Well, cept that you don't have banners for your minor teams.
