  1. Closer than I'd like it to be, but a win's a win. GG New York!
  2. hey, can Team Asia stop looking hella spooky? thanks
  3. My apologies; I wasn't aware there was a separate plan for brands at the beginning. It's a bummer that it didn't work out; I'd love to see brands with a more robust infrastructure. At the end of the day, I guess I was looking for something to motivate me to keep writing high-quality articles since I can't always do statistical analysis without more free time. Switching it up and writing a little more about around-the-league rather than in-the-league topics was more just for my amusement than anything else.
  4. STO G didn't stand a chance, F to pay respects to swiss cheese bot
  5. Should've put in RIG G. Dude's a beast against Helsinki
  6. Could we trial brands as another way to obtain jobs? For example, brands could hire brand-specific writers and graphic producers that produce weekly or bi-weekly content about players (also managed by the brand in some way). Media could be about brand-organized volunteer/non-profit work and graphics could be player billboards or screencaps from commercials; sky's the limit for the creatives. I'm not sure we necessarily need to tie brands to their own separate tournament or treat them as autonomous teams - just bring them up like you might advertising, e.g. "the Season 68 VHL All-Star Game, brought to you by our official sponsor, Jolt Juice!" during an ASG cast, or "Welcome to Haterade Stadium in Calgary, Canada!". If you want, you can even name a Discord channel or two based on contests from brands, e.g. "#the-netflex-thunderdome". Make players put their sponsorship programs in signatures or mention them during VHL.com articles. If you want, you can even have a vote for "brand of the season" (or have a committee decide which brand was best-represented in the league for a given season), leading to the above-mentioned advertising opportunities. Give players that produce exceptional content for brands a few uncapped TPE, e.g. put "best brand MS/graphic" up to a vote at the end of the season to encourage participants to produce high-quality content.
  7. Need to chill with these close games vs. Europe, geez.
  8. This one was hella close. Great game from Joe Nixon to keep us ahead
  9. Gotta say, I was worried about a weird loss again when I opened this one up. Let's go USA!
  10. 9 hits by Dallas! He's been great for most of the games in this tourney. Always happy to get a win over Canada

  12. Didn't do much this game, but I'll always take a win. Fantastic work from Dallas.

  15. Didn't expect a result like this, but I guess the sim has been a little funny the last 4-5 days.

  18. THIS is the polished, star-focused kind of game I expected from Davos at the start of the season. I'm happy we won, but Davos should be giving every team on the table a run for their money.
  19. Davos, Switzerland - HC Davos Dynamo star Ryuu Crimson was ejected just three minutes into a match against the Riga Reign a few days ago, laying a beat down on Reign player Randoms before the referee ended Crimson's night very early. But fights aren't all that unusual in the VHL - in fact, Crimson has won 4 fights this season alone - and what he actually ended up being ejected for was putting his hands on his hips, which the refs viewed as taunting. "That's not enough to eject someone," an exasperated Max Kellerman said on First Take the following morning, "you don't want someone to rest a bit after something like that? He didn't even say anything!" "I completely agree with you, it's EGREGIOUS on behalf of the VHL, but it's also what they bring referees in to do," said Stephen A., "and Crimson, who is a dear, dear friend of mine, who I have known for YEARS, told me that he was similarly befuddled. It's it's not just asinine, it's asiTEN, asiELEVEN, asiTWELVE that the refs would send him out that early." It's not clear if Crimson has actually ever even spoken to Stephen A., and he was not available for comment following this segment on First Take. "The commissioners of the VHL have always been open to players speaking their minds, expressing themselves. He has a lot of FAITH and TRUST in the players. It also matters that players know how to MONITOR their emotions, too." "But I got NEWS for you Max Kellerman, the FANS and other people LOVE seeing players go at one another, getting in eachothers' FACES," he continued, "they don't want you huggin' eachother and singin' KUM-BAH-YAH. They want players INVADING other players' space and they want to see a friendly, NON-VIOLENT level of HOSTILITY." At this point, Stephen A. slowly unraveled into a nonsensical rant that we choose not to publish here.
  20. I'd heard about Spade but didn't know about Dangles. I would 100% agree that Seattle's draft on draft night was 9/10+, and that's what I would have given them night-of. But with a retrospective I needed to go with what's happened since, and I have to go with numbers alone. It's likely Seattle's draft grade will go up with future seasons, but for now objectively it's far from ideal.
  21. I'm not sure I was even active by the point I hit the S22 championship, hah. Thanks for the trip down nostalgia lane.
