  1. Hiroshi Okada is a Founders' Cup champion and yet, people only talk about the likes of Thorny Underyew, Anthony Amberback, Michael Rasmussen, Zeno Miniti and Anthony Hawk. Who cares if they had over a point per game during the playoffs? Isn't participating just as important? Can we just take a moment to marvel at Okada's stats during the playoffs? 1 assist: Great playmakers are often overlooked. Players like Okada with more assists than goals should be applauded. +9: So much better than Hunter Wagner. That dude may have 15 points but can he even play defensively? I don't think so. 6 penalty minutes: Such discipline, much control, wow. 1 shot blocked: Players willing to sacrifice their body for the sake of their team are rare in professional hockey. Hiroshi Okada can really do it all. 0.09 points/20 minutes: That's perhaps the statistic that's the most impressive of them all. How do you manage to get over 14 minutes on the ice per game and only have one point in 15 games? I don't know. You need to be a hockey guru such as Hiroshi Okada to have the answer to that question.
  2. Game 3: Helsinki Game 4: Vancouver Game 5: Helsinki Helsinki 4-3 Points leader: Rauno Palo Goals leader: Beau Louth Assists leader: Rauno Palo PIM lead: Sidney Crosby Series-winning goal: Julian Borwinn
  3. 1. We won our first 2 games against Halifax, but now we've lost how do you think this series plays out? I predict we will win in 6. 2. Who do you think will be in the finals? Us and Minny. 3. How do you feel about your players current place in this season in the playoffs? I'm a bit disappointed he isn't producing AT ALL. I just hope he does better next season when all the OP players will be up in the VHL. 4. How do you feel about Ottawa's as a whole? Locker room is awesome and we have a real chance to win it all. The series against Halifax was a bit too close to my liking but we're on to the next round and that's all that counts. 5. Who do you think will get to the finals in VHL? Vancouver and Riga because I have no clue what's going on here so better to copy my teammates. 6. Predict the winners in both leagues. Riga and Ottawa...?
  4. Even if his team, the Ottawa Lynx, steamrolls the Las Vegas Aces night after night, Hiroshi Okada can't get a damn point. Every day, his family in Japan looks at the results of the games and is forced to take vacation days because the dishonour is too great. His grandfather was even evicted from his retirement home. This didn't seem to be much of a problem, though, since Hiroshi's parents decided to ban him from the family house until he gits gud. "Loom vacant. Fathel move back in. No Hiloshi. Not my son untir he bettel. Shourd stay in Canada untir he gets point", his father told VHL.com when we contacted him for a comment because we love tabloid journalism. Okada himself understands the urgency of the situation but refuses to meet journalists in this time of crisis. With the VHLM draft fast approaching, he fears that this lack of productivity will ruin his draft stock. After one beer in the most popular bars of Ottawa, Okada would claim loudly that he was a lock for first overall and although that was a stupid assumption from the start, now it seems more certain than ever that he will need to wait for a couple of minutes, if not hours, before he hears his name on draft night.
  5. 1. After 450+ days Boubabi was unbanned, whats youre opinion on this? I don't really have an opinion about it. I've seen him around on SHL and I never had any problem with him personally and I have no idea what he did here to be banned. If he can be a good member of the community, it's good to have him back. If he goes back to whatever he did to get him banned, then I hope the league will act on it. 2. Playoffs start tommorow and were against LVA (I think), how easy will this be? Dude so easy you can just bench me and you won't even see the difference. ... but please don't. 3. Now that we are 1st confirmed. Do you think the path to victory is easy or hard. Seeing how well we did to finish the season, I'd say things should go smoothly but you never know with the sim. I'm carefuly optimistic. 4. Who is your ideal team to face in the finals. I'm not one of those people who feel like legitimizing your win is necessary so whoever was the last to qualify for the playoffs is good with me. Make it as easy as possible. 5. Its almost draft time, have any gm's contacted you, if not do you have an idea where you wanna go? I'll be in the VHLM draft so I would like to stay in Ottawa. I've known Acyd a little longer than most people here and I feel comfortable with him as my GM. With that being said, I hope other GMs will give me a chance and contact me before the draft so we can see if I'd be a good fit for their team. 6. Picture this, Acyd Burn wants to talk about your biggest weakness, what does he talk to you about? Nothing because I'm magnificient. If we're talking about the sim, I'm getting close to zero points so maybe that, if we're talking about real life, I know my draft stock might drop because I went inactive the last time I was here.
  6. I meme voted yes in Nyko's honour.

  8. 1. You are tasked with choosing a theme song when your player scores, what do you choose and why. He thinks extremely highly of himself so I think "Simply the Best" would be appropriate. 2. What song can the team use when they win. Given our current situation, "All I Do Is Win" fits perfectly. It's not a very original pick but I'm not a very original person. 3. Once you come up to the VHL are you scared of fight leader Hulk Hogan who is currently 4-1-6. Yes, my player is kind of a pussy so he talks big but if the Hulkster gets close to him, he'll shit his pants. He'll watch himself around him... but who knows, maybe I'll go to Hulk's team when I'm drafted so I keep this dream alive in my mind. 4. We are now crowned #1 in the league, we have 1 more game than Philly but the best they can do with that one game is tie us, do you think we can hold this after being 9-1 in our past 10. Yes, there's no slowing down this train. We beat Philadelphia not long ago too so there's little doubt as to which team deserves to finish first right now. 5. Have you tried Hulk Hogan's jam, if so where's my money I've never received it. The jam as in what I'd put on my toast or his mixtape? Either way, I'm sure it's great but no I haven't tried it. 6. Would you rather have 50 more points than right now, or have the brother pass. I'm too new to this place to even have a clue what the brother pass is but it does sound more appealing than having 50 points. Can never have too many brothers, especially if they are Hulk Hogan.
  9. In one of the most inhospitable places known to mankind, to the far north of Russia, a small community of roughly 40 souls claims to be able to predict the future. "How do they do it", you may wonder. Well, they pit bloodthirtsy turtles against each other and paint said turtles in the colour of whatever they want to predict. Will spring come early? Slap some yellow paint on a turtle and some white on another and see which one survives. They claim they've been doing this for centuries. How did they get access to turtles being this isolated? Who knows... the mystery remains. Media from various hopeful nations sent journalists to this community to find out if they would welcome a VHL franchise in the near future. It doesn't sound like a very trustworthy way to predict the future but some time ago, the turtles correctly predicted that Baboushka Valeria would have a son and surely enough, 8 months later, baby Igor was born. So you can be damned sure that if they say Funkley, Minnesota is getting a team, Funkley, Minnesota is gonna get that team. There were representatives from Paris, Prague, Oxford, Cologne and Planken present. The guy from Planken got his trip paid by his employer, some cult, because he thought this would be about converting those people. He was a little pissed when he found out it was about predicting which European nation would get a VHL expansion team and the cult was forced to file for bankruptcy. The journalist from Paris brought a little beret for his turtle for good luck. Because we all know as far as fighting is concerned, France has been doing very well over the past 100 years. Actual picture from the fight, in cold Russia The battle was violent and bloody. Long story short, Prague is getting a team. You heard it here first. Actually no but like, 5th.
  10. Hiroshi Okada had his first career point since making the jump to professional hockey. This historical event took place in the Ottawa Lynx's most recent game against the Saskatoon Wild, a 5-0 win. Okada assisted Anthony Hawk on his 38th goal of the season. This generational talent officially broke the ice. Okada was his humble self after the game and took the opportunity to throw shade at his teammate Symere Myles: "If anyone had any doubt ovel who is the best snipel in this upcoming dlaft, werr, I hope they wele arr put to lest. I got a point, Symele didn't. The fact ale thele. I'm the best. This is onry the beginning." Hiroshi was assured by his general manager that he'd get more time on the ice in the future, and we can understand why with such impressive results in such little time. The Lynx have a difficult matchup against the Philadelphia Reapers coming up and Okada assured the fans he'd be there to "teach them a resson". This article was paid for by Hiroshi Okada
  11. 1. Zeno Miniti's current ppg is 2.125, that is the best i've ever seen and is on pace for 153 points, how much do you think he will get. We're absolutely crushing it at the moment so I can see his ppg going up even more. I'll be a true believer and say he'll even get past that, in the late 150s. 2. Looking at your stats, how much do you think you will get, will you slow down or speed up. At this point I just hope I get my first VHLM point in a Lynx uniform before I might change teams after the draft. I'm glad I haven't done anything so it hasn't been negative either. It would have sucked to arrive and the team starts losing. So yeah, just having one point would make me happy. 3. Whats the funnest part of the league so far. Last time I was here, I landed in two super dead locker rooms so I didn't enjoy the league and went inactive pretty quik. Ottawa's LR is fun and I think I'm more motivated this time around as well. 4. Any predictions where you will go in the upcoming VHL/VHLM draft. I'm hoping I'll be at least an early second but I've noticed many VHL vets recreating so I might drop more than that. I have a good sim league rep I think but I also have a tendency to go inactive so you never know. I used to take drafts super seriously but now I can go late and I'm not gonna care too much. I'll play for anybody, contender or rebuilding team. I just wanna have fun. 5. Has being on the Lynx affected your outlook on the vhl, what it be like if you were on a worse team. Like I mentionned previously, I didn't have a great opinion of the VHL because of my past experience. Ottawa's LR is way more active than last time I was here. I also got to know a couple of VHLers in my league and they're good people so I'm excited to be on a player league with them. 6. A constant debate on vhl is team forum activity and discord activity, its believed new players like discord better and don't use the site as often, is this true? I've always been a fan of discussions on team forums because you can just jump in whenever you have time and by simply quoting the message you want to reply to, the topic becomes relevant again. On Discord, if there's an exciting discussion going on and you're sleeping or out, you miss it and it's over. I know most people prefer Discord so I'm adapting but I really miss posting on forums just to bullshit and have fun with my teammates.

  14. This is Jackson J. McJackson for decenthockeyprospects.com. Today, we are covering a player I have mixed feelings about. I think he has the potential to be a good addition to many VMHL teams but the league could also prove too big a challenge for him. I've watched him play a few times on streams of questionable quality. These are my thoughts on Hiroshi Okada as a hockey player. Hiroshi Okada | Center | Nara, Japan | 6"0' | 189 lbs Okada's biggest strength is definitely his shot. I would lie if I said I wasn't impressed by the velocity at which the pixel (that I assume was the puck) traveled when it left his stick. Mere power isn't all that I liked about his shot. It was also very accurate. Granted, against a better goaltender, maybe the results would have been much different, but in the couple of games I watched, he scored quite a few goals each time or had great opportunities to score. It's also interesting that his arsenal is diverse, since his wrist shot and his slap shot were equally impressive. I think the combination of his scoring and skating abilities will quickly make him a fan favourite, if those talents translate as well as I hope they do to the VHML. Okada is a very elegant and fast skater, which helps his gifts as a scorer shine even more. I've seen him move the puck from his zone to the other team's all by himself and make fools of his opponents a lot while I was doing my research for this profile. I also want to mention that although Hiroshi Okada has all the characteristics of a player who will make mistakes defensively, I thought that this aspect of his game was pretty solid. He knew what to do to counter the other team and didn't seem to hate distributing hits either. I'm not sure if he's going to be used much defensively at this point of his career but it's also good to know that he's not necessarily the one who will put his team in trouble because he chases the puck like a chicken with no head all around his zone. He does create problems for his team sometimes but it's not because of gigantic defensive mistakes. One thing I can say is that I was extremely underwhelmed by his abilities at the faceoff circle. To me, it almost seems like he has played on the wing his entire life and decided to enter the draft as a center to boost his value. After all, what team doesn't need good young centers? I don't expect him to stay above 50 % during his junior career and even for the earlier part of his pro career. This could be a minor problem but what bothers me is that he doesn't work to recover the puck after he looses a faceoff either. Then, as is sometimes the case with scorers, his talent for setting up plays for his teammates is almost nonexistent. His offensive tactics are pretty limited: move the puck by himself from one end of the ice to the other and then take a shot, or make an attempt at a pass and more often than not, have it result in a turnover. Even when his team is in position in the offensive zone, it seems difficult for him to make decisions that don't involve shooting on the net right away. It probably doesn't help him to develop that side of his game that every play is built around him taking a shot either. There's no room for him to grow in this system so it will be interesting to see how his game changes when he's not the sole focus of his team's offense. Finally, I've heard troubling things about the kid's lack of discipline, both on an off the ice, which is why I think he's a wildcard as far as his VHML and later his VHL career will play out. He's so superior to the guys he plays against (and with) that he seems to have a pretty big problem with following simple instructions and will place his team in trouble by taking a lot of penalties. A big ego is difficult to deal with and hopefully a couple of months in a better league will help deflate his head. I was told that, while he has no problem training for things he's already good at, he will not put in the necessary effort to improve other aspects of his game that he struggles more with. There you have it, folks. That was my opinion on Hiroshi Okada's game. I find this kind of player difficult to evaluate because he only played in his home country so far and he had very little opposition until now. I'm excited to see how he'll perform in the VHML and how high/low he'll go in the upcoming VHML Entry Draft. I think he has potential but he'll need a good coach to become as dangerous in the league we all know and love as he was back in Japan. At 17, he's still young and has a lot to learn. I just hope a strong minded coach will show him the way early in his international career.
