It's been a quiet offseason since the United took home the prize, but the Legion have locked up both their future star centers. Shortly after Mac Atlas signed a three year $10.5MM deal, Jimi Jax locked in a contract of the same term but smaller dollar at $9MM. His contract extends into S92 and averages at $3MM a year. The VHL All-Rookie center had a terrific second half of the season which landed him on the finalist list for the Stolzschweiger Trophy. Jax was in the Toronto training facility to sign his contract and wasn't worried about negotiations: "I've been pretty adamant about how I want to be with Toronto. I wanted this process to go as quick as possible and now I can just focus on next season." The Legion haven't been as active in the offseason, but have a lot of promise with the young core coming up. After picking the top winger in the S89 draft, the Legion are loaded up front for the future. "It's pretty exciting - we're all excited to get back to the rink and get this season going. We keep saying we're going to eventually break through. Hopefully sooner than later"

1. If you were a gambling person, would you put money on Toronto making the playoffs this season? Yes I would. Always a lot of promise in young cores having a breakout season. The Legion are lined up for a run. 2. If you could play with any player in VHL history who would you choose and why? Scotty Campbell - my first linemate with my first player. Won that season and earned a Beketov. 3. What's the wildfire situation in your area? Is it affecting your dry land training? No wildfires down here in arkansas - but there is a bit of haze coming from Texas. 4. What is the best thing you have planned for this summer? Bought a house. 5. Would you rather for a day: sit in a boat on a beautiful lake and fish or float around in a big pool? Big pool for sure. 6. Golden Knights or Panthers. Who is winning the Stanley Cup? Golden Knights - simply because they are up 3-1

After a short vacation following Toronto’s elimination from playoff contention, Jimi Jax is back in the training facility and has a head start on conditioning for S89. The center is heading into his sophomore year and the third season of his pro career. Jax is expected to be amongst the nominees for Rookie of the Year after a red hot second half to the season, but the awards ceremony from a previous season is not something he’s focused on at this point. “I don’t think I’m winning it, there were a lot of good rookies in this league that played more consistently. They were older and played on better teams – and didn’t start off cold like me. I am looking forward to next year. I want us to be in the playoffs and I really think we’re headed in that direction”. What type of award does Jax have his sights on next season? “The Continental Cup. That’s all I want right now, but based on my rookie season, I feel like I can make a big jump and contend for the Dustin Funk trophy”

It was a growing pains season for the Toronto Legion. A 72-game schedule that consisted of losses, but also hope for the future. Jimi Jax is amongst the young core, one of two rookies on the bluebirds and a potential finalist for rookie of the year after a significantly strong second half to his season. “The wins didn’t come as much as we wanted, but we all know where we are as a young team. It’s a bit stressful early on – but we were told to just keep focusing on our game and that’s what (we) did” Jax finished second in rookie scoring with 43 points, good for a 0.59 PPG pace. This is also thanks to a strong second half that had his PPG rate at 0.74. Like the past 3 offseasons, Jax intends to keep focusing on his skating. “I still need to be better defensively, and the best way to do this is to be quicker around the ice. I’m still not where I want to be in terms of skating and footwork – I need to be better”. After losing in the VHLE finals last season – Jax forfeited any offseason plans for a vacation due to the upset. This year it’s a bit different, and Jax will be taking a quick break before getting back into the offseason workouts.
