  5. It’s a frustrating feeling. We are two games away and we lose this match. I wanted so bad this serie to be over in four, and now we have an extra match to play. The bright side however is that we’ll have match five at home. We’ll be able to win and lift this cup in front of our fan that supported us all season long. If it wasn’t of that, i think it would have affected me more than right now. If we had to play game five at Las Vegas, it would have been a blow for me. I’m new in town, what’s best than to win in front of the people that encouraged me since day one and believed in me even when we got into a small losing streak. I’m not sure how it happened, why we lost, but i know i feel responsible of it. We didn't lose 1-0 or 2-1. We lost 4-3 in regular time. Had i blocked one of those goals we wouldn't be here to talk about it. We’d be heading into the decisive game four pumped to win it. We lost our 40 games winning streak, including playoff, and that’s what sting the most. The game started well for us. We had a few power play, but we were unable to score. However, we actually scored the first goal. Varis Tribuncovs managed to deflect a shot from Veran Dragomir and put us ahead of them a little bit after ten minutes. A minutes later, that’s when the ship sunk. Otto Axelsson, of all of them … Axelsson scored. With impartiality, a great tic-tac-toe play from him, Bryce Zhields and Jonas Vilhjalmsson. With partiality, a fucking disgusting play for a goaltender. I think i was more upset that he was the one scoring than the fact Las Vegas scored. One goal isn’t the end of the world, but from him, it’s frustrating. Twitter didn’t calm down since the end of the season and i think if i could, i’d shove him a bit. Unfortunately, he’s never coming close enough of the crease and he doesn’t stay long enough either. After that, in the second period, i managed to calm down a bit and we got back the lead, after a goal from Veran Dragomir. Once again however, it didn’t last more than one minutes. No Points managed to find the net a bit over my shoulder and we were tied once again. We got another power play after the goal, but once again, the team wasn’t able to outplay Marcel St-Laurent. Then, five minutes before the end of the period, Bryce Zhields put the Aces ahead following a pass from I won’t name him. They were now leading 3-2. We still had 20 minutes to go, and i was hoping everyone in the team, including me, would be able to rally. The last 20 minutes were heavy catch up hockey. Especially the last 16, since Johannes Vilhjalmsson managed to put the Aces 4-2 over us. Theo Lefevre managed to score five minutes before the end, but it was too late already.
  6. enjoy your only win of this serie

  8. I groaned when i heard my cell phone chime once again, indicating to me there was an incoming notification. The twitter chirp was clearly recognisable and i honestly had no interest at this point to look at it. I knew ahead of time from who this message was and i knew it wouldn't be a good one. Since being traded to the Las Vegas Aces, it seems i felt in the aim of Otto Axelsson. It all started when i got my 50th win of the season. I received a bunch of tweets, especially from teammates, congratulating me for the victory. But that wasn't the case with everyone. I remember a quite nasty tweet from Axelsson totally out of the blue. The tweet read exactly the following: From @OAxelsson "@Iseult_Rush Are you sure you are not counting your wins in NHL18?" Sure we can probably argue for a moment that its playful chirps, but when it's literally your first interaction with the person, it's a bit unsettling. I didn't help the case with my replies however and it's been a few weeks that we are going back and forth insulting each other. Like i mentioned, it’s to the point i dont really want to check my cell phone anymore. Yeah, i know i could just not answer back to him, but i’m not letting him step on me like that without reacting. If it was only twitter, maybe i wouldn’t get so pissed about it, but it’s also starting to be chirping on the ice and cheap shot from him. I remember one of the game we had last week against the Aces. Once again, i was doing my best to not let any goals in. He was rushing toward the net with a teammate in tows. He passed the puck to the other guy and instead of moving away, Axelsson decided to snow me while the other forward tried to shoot to the net. This is not a move that my teammates appreciated as i remember one of them shaking a bit the Aces center. I think, however, that he remembers to not step into my crease during a game. He was trying to screen me and at one point, he got a bit too much into my face. I had enough and pushed him further away with my stick. Maybe a bit harder than i was thinking it would be as he ended up falling on the ice, but the blue paint is sacred. I’m not too sure how to handle the situation going forward. To an extend, we can’t let this devolve more than it already is, just in case i end up being his teammate in a few months. However, i also don’t want to be the one to raise the white flag. I guess this might be something that will end up being fixed during the championship. Hopefully the Aces manage to win their series and we end up meeting in the finals were i’ll be able to shut Otto Axelsson once and for all. 510 words

  12. When the buzzer finally echoed in the rink, I immediately skated toward the tunnel to the locker room. I never liked to stay on the ice when we were playing away, especially after a win. The fans in the stands were in majority rooting for their team, so seeing them lose usually emptied the rink fast or we were under booing. Tonight, in Saskatoon was one of the later one. Well, there was not a lot of fans left, about a few thousands, but it was still enough. The ones that remained after the first few minutes of the third period were the die-hard partisans of the Wild and they were not pleased by the 5-1 defeat displayed on the scoreboard. Fortunately for me, I was not stopped in the tunnel by the journalists for a post-game interview. Maybe they would come knocking at the locker room door a bit later in the evening, but I was happy to be removing as soon as possible my gear. On my way to my stall, I receive a couple of pats on the shoulders by teammates or staff members, everyone was happy after the win. Today was a meaningful one for many of those players. As soon as everyone was in the room, the coach tried to get the team’s attention. It took a couple of minutes, but the players finally calmed down to listen to him. “- Great job on the ice tonight boys, this is win 50 in the season! I have another good news for you. We clinched the Prime Minister’s Cup! The Aces can’t catch up anymore.” With this announcement, the coach lost control of the room. The guys loudly cheered and started to mess with each other. I faintly hear the coach say that he’ll let the medias in the room in a few minutes through all the noise. I sighted. I knew they would probably want to talk to me and I was not really looking forward to it. I wasn’t a media guy. I prefer to do my stretch in peace and then go back the hotel, but tonight, it might not be possible. About 15 minutes later, the door opened on the reporters. Most of them went to guys like Tribuncovs, Dragomir or Roux. All of the performed greatly in the game and were, in the same order, the three stars of the game. As always, however, there is always the few lunatics who prefer to talk to the netminders. “- Hey Tristan, I’m with the VHML Insider. I wanted to have your thoughts about your performance tonight. 50 wins as a rookie is quite impressive. - My performance tonight was good, but I know I could have played better. I let in one goal in the first, but I was able to get back on my skates for the remaining of the game. I couldn’t have done it without the team however who performed great in front of me and helped me with their defensive plays. They did it all season long, if i'm honest” 511 words
