Vilhjálmsson Triplets Press Conference
omgitshim replied to Possum Queen's topic in Player Press Conferences
1.) Saskatoon has finally started to come around after a rough start. What has sparked this turn around? 2.) Will the Wild win the cup this season? 3.) Oslo seems to have your number this season. What makes them such a tough opponent? 4.) Who has been the Wild's MVP so far this season? 5.) Do you have any opinion on the potential rebranding of the Wild? 6.) Besides you three, who on the team has the best beard? -
It's no secret that the New York Americans have been the top team in the VHL this season. Sitting at a pretty 24-4 so far, the Americans have been dominant, scoring more than twice as many goals as they've allowed this season. The only team currently on their radar in the standings are the Helsinki Titans, currently in second with a strong 22-6 record themselves. Over four matchups this season, the Americans have come out on top 3 times, giving them a big assurance that they are the most dominant team in the league. Every giant, however, has a weakness. For every Superman, there is a kryptonite. For as dominant as New York has been this season, they have surprisingly lost 3 of their last 5 games. Even more surprising, all three losses have come from the VHL's most disappointing team, the Calgary Wranglers. The Wranglers had big playoff expectations this season but haven't put up much of a fight for much of the season, but the horses are off to the races now, and they couldn't have picked a better time to get hot. Despite all the hype, there is not a lot of concern in New York. Despite the recent losses, the season series between the two teams is still split at 3-3, and in each of their losses, the Americans outshot the Wranglers every single time. Still, this slight stumble gives the entire league hope that come playoffs time, New York could run cold at just the wrong time.

Let's just play the Americans every game.

At least Krigars is on the fantasy team

Well if there's only one team we can beat repeatedly, might as well be the best team.

@Will how long does it take for updates on the board to get put into the sim? Been sitting at the same attributes since before the season even started...

Whoa. Where has this been?!

We need you ASAP lol. With how infrequently updates ever get pushed into the sim, I'm not sure there's anything I can do. Ideally though I'm hoping to bump my shooting percentage into the 12+% range. It's on the todo list but with all the time spent practicing on the ice it's hard to find time to hit the gym. Old punk was jealous the young gun was threatening to steal his fans so he hit me with a cheap shot. 72 is still what I'm shooting for, though probably a long shot with how this season has gone. 50 is the more realistic goal.

I scored a goal at least.

There was some preseason buzz this season that the Calgary Wranglers would be a trendy pick to make some noise in the playoffs this season. They seemed to be on the right track after a 2-2 start, but since then they have tanked, going just 2-10 over their next 12 games. Calgary players have started to take umbrage over their practice work, as the team has not seemed to improve much at all despite putting in long hours throughout the week. Oyorra Arroyo said, "You know we go out there on our off days and put in a ton of work on the ice, practicing shooting, passing, defense, everything. It's frustrating to put in all that time and not see any of it pay off during the games, especially when you can tell other teams in the league do seem to be improving each week." The Wranglers are in the midst of a 4 game road trip and look to jump up a spot in the standings with a tasty matchup against the Meute on the table, the only team they have beaten multiple times this season. Unfortunately, with the Titans and Bears to follow, it could be another tough week for Calgary overall.

It was amazing. I learned quite a bit in my short time there and of course winning the cup is always great. The smaller rosters and increased level of competition has made things interesting. I can feel the difference in the two leagues and I'm excited to get more up to par with the top of the line players. I've also noticed how poor the updaters are in the VHL. I was more optimistic at the start of the season but we've had quite the rough start. There definitely seems to be a divide between the top 4 and the bottom 4, but that means that the 5th wild card spot is up for grabs. I think once we get our updates in we can make a push for the spot, and once you're in, anything can happen. It's tough though seeing anyone but the Americans win it all though unless something drastic happens.

Moving me to the 2nd/3rd line rather than 1st/3rd seems to be paying off a bit even if we aren't winning yet ?

It could be better, I'm shooting horribly and I should clearly never be near a face off, but I am scoring a few points and somehow have a positive +/-. I'd like to see my hard work in practice start to amount to something though. It's been a disappointing start so far for sure. We've got a lot of young guys so we could make some noise later on but we're probably a year or two away from being a real contender. Verner Reinholdt is a washed up old fogey who's scared he might get outplayed by a rookie.

Probably doesn't help that I have like 60 TPE that hasn't been updated in like 2 weeks. Especially when other teams have been updated.

Whoa that was a brutal 3rd.
