VHLSC: S43 Rankings #7 - Scouts & Insiders Take

He didn't have high hopes for you, if you catch my drift. -
I get that its for inflation, but the contracts here can't go past a certain level. Maybe its not the cap we need to look at and instead we look at the brackets. People have more TPE now because of welfare. People who normally wouldn't even update every week are now able to gain welfare. Still doesn't prove the point that 8/10 seem to be doing quite well with working with the current cap. What you are all forgetting is that Seattle seems to have some players her voicing their displeasures with the cap. However, they are also one of the team that looks to have mismanaged their budget and allocated money to players they shouldn't have. Quebec has a full roster, which is something the league rarely sees (6F/4D/1G), one of which being a retiring severely depreciated player in Tony Stark at $3 Million. These are rare cases and not the norm league wide. Helsinki made it work by trading pieces away for draft picks that turned into VHL ready players. The NHL does the same (as mentioned before) with Leddy and Bolland off Chicago. If you raise it by 2 Million all you do is tell Seattle that singing Mikkaelson to a $4 Million contract was not their fault and it was the leagues fault.

Which is a fair assessment of your own work if you say so, but I still ask: Where are these influx of players coming from? Also once they get here it would be 2-3 seasons before we notice a real prominent point that the cap needs to rise.

This is a draft ranking, not a username/member look up site. match.com has your fix. -
I should point you that you did say "Raise the Cap" but never came up with legitimate points on why it should be raised. It just looked like a bunch of "bail us out of jail free card".
-
I know you are entitled to it, never have and never will say otherwise. I never lashed out haha, go read it man. This physically hurts my brain to actually have to explain, because all anyone ever did (myself included) was point out the flaws in the "Raise the Cap" side of things. If I recall you were the one who came after me when I wrote it. All I see is people wanting the cap raised because they need to fit some people under their cap for the next few seasons even though they mismanaged their cap the last couple seasons. That isn't the league, nor the blue teams responsibility to bail them out. That is their GM's responsibility to alter and fix whatever that issue is in regards to the salary cap. If the other argument is that it will make the league more active and more players will be happy, I have yet to see where the grand idea of getting these dozens of players is coming from. As I see it now, you want a cap increase so there is more players in the VHL and the league benefits, but won't go out to recruit for those players to begin with. So thus we are right back at square one (a place where 80% of the GM's seem to be doing well at). It's an argument by some and then a horrible thought out scheme by the others.
-
Wait so you calling me out and bashing me automatically means I should hold my breathe? Seems a little silly that only one can speak, the other has to simply take it. Who said I hold myself in high regard? All I said was that Cologne has gotten over that fiasco with FA and actually gone out and signed guys. Isn't that what this was about? You are making this cap raising thing personal with everyone. I'm just explaining that if you want to see your point get across there is no point in bashing the people you're debating it with; whether thats Flyers, Smarch, Munk or anyone else in here. It's like telling your boss you want an increase and pay and when he says "Why do you deserve it?" you tell him all the things you hate about him instead of answering his question.
-
You still bitter? Cologne has moved past that considering we've signed guys to complete our roster since. You aren't helping your argument about raising the cap by trying to tustle with every thing that moves in this thread.
-
Woah, with all due respect to my buddy Jason, that streak isn't impressive when you think about some of the other teams in the NA at the time. Also he sold the farm to stay in the playoffs but didn't really sell it to win. That being said all I've seen from this thread is that the cap should be raised because of weak management regarding teams own rosters. Most of the people saying "Raise the cap blue team" have rosters filled with a couple guys that are wasting cap space doing nothing. Whereas some of the GM's who have managed their rosters properly seem to have no issues with a 32 Million dollar cap. Also I'd like to mention that Helsinki didn't tank as much as people thought, they just offloading high priced assets in order to grab VHL-ready players and re-tool for another run again.

Welcome back once again to another edition of the VHL Draft Rankings. We have to admit we've had a lot of fun going out to get information on these prospects. Whether its what their parents envisions they'd become or what they eat before a game to fuel their inner beast. From finding out where they are from, to checking into what VHLM team the prospect calls "his squad". This week gave us the chance to speak with some of the highly regarded (and not so regarded) hockey scouts and insiders from around the globe. They gave us some inside and some useless information as well to complete our board. In regards to our rankings this week, we actually saw little movement when it comes to people sliding up or down in the rankings. MC Hammer did a number on four prospects and became the highest riser in our rankings. Hammer also was the one prospect who out earned all the others this past week. Besides that very little was done even though several prospects did develop. We hope you enjoy what the Insiders say below though! It was a real pleasure to talk to some of these insiders and scouts. We got to catch up with former VHL players and VHL General Managers. We'd like to thank them all and send out a special appreciation to Jason Glasser who took the time to send us a headshot. Next week will bring us something new and hopefully some more movement post-trade deadline. Thanks for tuning in and getting your draft prospects fix with us at Victory Hockey League Scouting Centre!

How would it be taking 5 steps back if we are already at the point where the cap hasn't risen? I literally have no clue what you tried to say there haha. Same old boring thing? Is it boring you, cause if so you can engage people by talking in off-topic and such. All raising the cap does is allow the rich to get richer and for poor GM'ing to be justified slightly by a league wide "freebie". The cap rising has little to do with new members like I said. I'll repeat it though so you guys can understand it, go recruit and get more members if you want the cap to eventually be forced a growth in number.
-
He obviously brings up a good point because he is Munk. Its basically saying "You can re-structure that players contract because you don't know how to GM properly and plan a budget in which 90% of the past GM's have been able to work with quite smoothly".
-
No one was whining about about not bumping the cap up. In fact people were whining the cap should go up. Look at the entire conversation, the "cap going up" party brought it up, thus considered whining. We've never had issues before, not sure why we'd rework an area that doesn't need to be reworked. Also accepting that 4 M is not your fault, but then that falls on the GM. So in this case we can sum this all up by saying: Good GM's make the cap work for them; they don't work for the cap.
