  1. Brampton, ON – It’s been two games since forward, Travis Wilcox’s departure, but the team added two budding stars, Le’Sean Coutzen, Stabby McFullO'Schmidt, and an inactive player, Jefferson Jackson. Brampton Blades captain, Golden Jedtsson remarks that moves like these reminds you that the game is still a business at the same time. “One day you’re going out for dinner with a player then the next you hear that they’re gone overseas or to somewhere else in the country.” Golden Jedtsson added, “I’ve experienced those type of sudden moves, but it’s expected in a business like this. You’ve got to please management and the fans. I’m excited to bring in those two training young prospects and hopefully, we can awaken Jefferson Jackson in an attempt to try to get him to train. We’re heading in the right direction and it’s a good sign walking into the arena in the morning with everyone having a smile on their faces.”

  3. Wow, an assist, seven hits, and four shots blocked.
  4. Position: Defenseman Number: 47 Height: 6’3” Weight: 225 lbs Hometown: Gothenburg, Sweden Age: 22 Despite being born in Manhattan, New York, Jedtsson still calls Gothenburg home and rightfully so as his family would always visit back home every summer. Jedtsson was born to Petr and Marie Jedtsson née Svenblerg as their second child. Petr and Marie were more than happy to welcome their newborn into their family as they named the child, Golden. Petr was an investment banker while Marie decided to be a stay at home mother. Petr's career wasn't always his first option as he dreamed of becoming a star hockey defenseman since he was a child, but those plans were cut short due to a leg injury, so Petr decided to take an athletic scholarship from the University of Maine. Petr's dreams never came true as no NHL teams ever took a chance on, so worried of becoming an outcast back home Petr decided to follow his major in business to New York. Petr excelled at his job and his family was doing fine, so there was no need to worry. Although, the family wasn't in Sweden that didn't mean that Petr couldn't take his sons to hockey games like his father did to him. Petr would always find the time to take his two sons, Elias and Golden to a New York Rangers home game every month. The two boys enjoyed watching some of the greats play such as Jaromir Jagr, but soon the two wanted to actually play the game, so their father enrolled them in a hockey program. Jedtsson had a step ahead of the game because his father was previously an offensive defenseman, so he taught him all that he had known. The extra knowledge allowed Jedtsson to be ahead of others in his age group, so the directors decided it was best to allow him to jump an age group. However, that didn't stop Jedtsson from continuing to dominate despite playing against tougher and bigger players. Shortly after Jedtsson's father began uploading videos of his son dominating the competition and this soon became a viral video. Jedtsson became a hot commodity in the hockey community. Everyone wanted to know about this kid: who he was, where's he from, and how was he that good? His father didn't allow the attention to get to his son's head as he didn't want him to stop focusing on school, so he stopped posting videos, he stopped allowing media to his son's games, and he just told his son to live a normal life. There were a lot of adjustments that Jedtsson needed to face throughout his career as he had to move away from home at the age of 14 to pursue his hockey dreams when the Chicago Steel drafted him. Jedtsson tallied eight goals and 26 assists in his first season with the Chicago Steel, so the attention was now refocused on Jedtsson. There were questions that needed answers heading into his second season with Chicago. Those questions were answered as Jedtsson added 12 goals and 40 assists. The focus looked like it would remain as Jedtsson's father wasn't there to pull him away from the spotlight, so now there were options that Jedtsson had to choose. In the second round of the CHL Import Draft the London Knights selected Golden Jedtsson as there were ramblings that he might opt out of his eligible seasons with the USHL to go play in the CHL. Those ramblings were true as the next season Jedtsson told the media via Twitter that he'd don the Knights' jersey the following season. The media was roaring with tweets as some experts said he held the title as one of their best defenseman before he even played a single game. In his first season with the Knights, Jedtsson excelled offensively with 15 goals and 50 assists, which added up to 65 points, but found himself in a slump defensively where he had a minus 15. The experts were now saying that Jedtsson couldn't lead a team on the backend and those reports seemed to be true for a long time. In his second season, Jedtsson had help from newly acquired two way defenseman, Olli Maatta. Jedtsson's season was highlighted with with the CHL's Defenceman of the Year Award and Max Kaminsky Trophy as Maatta's help on the backend allowe Jedtsson to add 13 goals and 50 assists, those numbers were lower than last season, but his defensive play was better than last season as he had a plus 27. His success with the London Knights, which ended in a Memorial Cup win that season didn't go unnoticed as he was rewarded with a spot on Sweden's world junior team, which was the first team to ever win a gold medal. Golden Jedtsson was projected to be a mid to late first round pick in the NHL Entry Draft, but he fell to the second round where the Chicago Blackhawks picked him up with 36th overall selection. VHLM Golden Jedtsson went into camp not knowing whether or not he'd find himself on the starting roster because the Blackhawks were a team filled with talent on all lines, but his play throughout the camp, rookie camp, and pre-season seemed to be enough to earn him a spot on the roster, at the least for the nine game tryout. Jedtsson didn't last nine games as the team sent him down to the AHL after four games of poor play. Jedtsson never suited up for a game in the NHL again as he found himself being an AHL journeyman for three seasons. Jedtsson's agent told him about the opportunities he could have with the VHL and that this was possibly the best place for him to take his talents. Jedtsson declared for the S42 VHLM Dispersal Draft where he was drafted in the second round, 12th overall by the Bern Royals. However, he wouldn't even ever suit up for the team as he was traded to the Moscow Red Wolves with Steven Bradbury for Chuck Goody. The Royals hoped that the reuniting Goody with Merica would spark the team. Jedtsson wasn't pleased with the trade as he never got to showcase his talents with the team and they had already shipped him off, so he was determined to prove them wrong. Jedtsson started the season with three goals and four assists, a minus two, 23 hits, and 20 shots blocked in 13 games. However, that wasn't enough to signify his role with the team as the team dealt him to the Brampton Blades in a package deal centered around him. Jedtsson was now on his third team and he'd just played 13 games and it was something he never expected when he declared for the VHLM. Although, to prove all the critics wrong that had doubted him, Jedtsson finished the season with 12 goals and 84 points, a plus 54, 63 hits, and 85 shots blocked in 64 games as the team only lost eight times. During the post-season the Brampton Blades experienced some bumps in the road as the experts were predicting an easier road to the championship. The team earned a bye for the first round, so they watched as the Lynx and Gladiators clashed, but the Gladiators prevailed with the help of the VHLM's best goaltender, Hans Wingaite. Brampton was expecting a tough battle because Wingaite had shown he can carry a team, but in the second round they eliminated the Gladiators who were playing their final season in the VHLM in six ganes, In the Finals, Brampton faced off against Oslo where they also got a scare when the series went to six, but with the help of Jedtsson the team won. Through Brampton's post-season, which lasted 12 games, Jedtsson posted two goals, 10 points, a plus four, nine hits, and 24 shots blocked. VHL At the end of the season Jedtsson participated in the Top Prospects Game, but didn't impress the scouts enough to garner a lot of attention with only two assists, a minus one, two hits, and five shots blocked. The scouts were not impressed as he fell to the second round, 11th overall pick of the VHL Entry Draft. Jedtsson knew heading into camp that he'd be sent back down to the VHLM where he'd try to help the Brampton Blades repeat. His season thus far is worthy of a nomination for the Ryan Sullivan Trophy with seven goals and 35 assists tallied up to 42 points, which is second in defenseman scoring two behind leader, MC Hammer. Also, he's a plus 35, has 38 hits, and 22 shots blocked. Jedtsson's got a long road ahead to becoming an elite VHL defenseman, which was one of his goals when he was traded to Brampton, but with the training and help he's received over there the goal seems more likely.
  5. Delighted to take on the captaincy role for Brampton this season despite my minute discussion around the main boards.
  6. My future teammate beats me up, okay. Good win boys.
  7. Brampton, ON – Golden Jedtsson continues to impress both his VHL and farm team’s staffs and fans. He’s quickly adjusted from being a lazy prospect with no work ethic to a prospect who’s been training nonstop ever since his name was called with the 11th overall pick in the second round by the New York Americans at the season 43 VHL Entry Draft. Jedtsson’s agent spoke in an interview on Jedtsson’s development, “I remember going up to the kid before the draft and telling him. You’re not going to be picked early. Actually, you’ll be lucky to be selected in the first round. Those words knocked him down, but he needed to hear those words. He wasn’t trying. He was expecting to come into the games with everything handed to him, but now he’s working for that number one defenseman role and he’s excelling with the role. He’s determined and dedicated. New York selected a reliable defenseman to begin their future on the backend as it’s without no prospects right now. However, soon the Americans will be back on top and Jedtsson’s determined to lead the way.” There’s a three-way race for the top defenseman award including Chuck Goody and MC Hammer both defenders of the Bern Royals. Along with those two is the third defenseman in the race, Golden Jedtsson of the Brampton Blades. All three have become the top defensemen for their respective teams and are send downs from their VHL teams. Also, all three average nearly 30 minutes a game and all three have over 30 points, however, in my opinion, Golden Jedtsson’s the best defenseman thus far as he’s scored five goals, 32 points, a +32 plus/minus rating, 30 hits – the most hits between the three, 17 shots blocked – the most shots blocked between the three. Therefore, it seems as if Jedtsson’s become the better two-way defender between the three and he’s leading the race thus far. VHLN: How was your off-season? Golden Jedtsson: It’s going great. I feel great after that off-season where I trained with elite defenseman, Phil Villeneuve. He pushed me to excel and lose all the extra body fat I had. I worked on skating and much more. However, when I hit training camp the coaches told me I would need to work on my defensive skills if I was looking to become a VHL defenseman. I feel like I’ve managed to get better at my two-way game and I’m going to perfect it. I met with the head office of the New York Americans and they told me I’d need to work harder and this was kind of a slap to the face – a reality check, so I worked hard throughout the off-season and now I’m here. VHLN: Yeah, definitely seems like some hard news to take. Anyways, how’s Brampton? Golden Jedtsson: Brampton’s amazing. I had a billet family my first season. That was cool and they really treated me like family, but now I’m living in an apartment with Maxime Perron. He’s been a delight to have as a roommate. It’s fun getting used to living on your own or with a teammate because when I get to New York that’s the lifestyle you adapt to. It’s kind of like home here for me and it’s going to suck to leave the organization and community next season, but you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.
  8. Brampton, ON – Golden Jedtsson and the Brampton Blades are on a hot streak right now winning 10 of their last 12. Jedtsson’s managed to put up two goals, 19 points, 18 hits, 11 shots blocked, and a +20 plus/minus rating while being a force on the powerplay. “It’s be a great feel here in Brampton. The coaches are pushing me to work hard and it’s showing on the ice. Last season was a success for me and I’m going to look to build off of that here with the Blades as we’re playing our finest hockey. I believe that we have one of the best teams in the league and I believe that I’m one of the best defenseman in the league. I’ll show it on the ice that I am.” Jedtsson said in an interview after practice. There’s no doubt that Jedtsson’s progressed well through the off-season working on his two way game as he’s improved defensively. He’s now the number one defenseman in Brampton, so he’ll need to play like he is.
  9. Golden Jedtsson's Draft Day Draft Day, the day where mothers and fathers get their reward for all those years of preparations to get their children to this level, where fans staring at the television screen awaiting their future stars to be selected, but what does this day mean for the players? For some it may be exciting and for some others it may be frantic. However, for some like Jedtsson it may be relaxing. During an interview before the draft Golden Jedtsson said, "It's not much to me. I know that this is where I'm going to play for the rest of my career and I won't let the team that drafts me down. I've received phone calls from a few general managers, but I still am oblivious to where I'm going to be drafted tonight. I'm happy for all of the other draftees as there's some great talent in this class, but I'm going to try and compete with them throughout our careers." Golden Jedtsson's wasn't a highly touted prospect heading into the draft, but before his professional career even began people were calling him an easy first round pick. Jedtsson tells us that he wasn't buying that as he knew what his goal in this league was to become a regular defenseman. Although, that quickly changed a couple days before the draft. Jedtsson was contacted by the New York Americans and he was ecstatic to get a call from an East Coast American team as that's where he's played hockey since he traveled overseas to juniors then college at a young age. Minutes before the draft Golden Jedtsson answered, "I wasn't sure if I was going to play anywhere other than Riga or Calgary because those were the two teams contacting me, but then New York's general manager, Chris [Miller] contacted me telling me that they may be looking at picking me. I thought this is where I want to play because they've got a storied history and a knack for drafting elite defenseman." Well, the draft's one of those places that you'll walk in and you think, "Wow." It's kind of cliche, but that was my response. However, then it becomes a chess game. You think you're going to play for this team, but then they call a different player's name and at one occasion I thought I was for sure going to Calgary, so when they started off with, 'We're glad to select defenseman', I was up and ready to go. However, then they called Michael Clardy, I don't know who he is, but I've heard from my agent that he's been trying to hype himself up the week prior to the draft despite his huge drop in activity. Then, Helsinki came to the podium. I knew I wasn't going there because we hadn't even spoken to one another before the draft, so it would have been a complete shock. I was starting to believe that my work ethic threw off a lot of teams, which it did. However, the New York Americans were now on the clock with the first pick in the second round, 11th overall. I was sure this is where I'd end up. I had some great conversations with their head office and I believe both of us were on the right page. Chris Miller walked up to the podium grinning and said, "With the 11th overall pick, the New York Americans select Golden Jedtsson." With that came a huge roar from my family and I got up shook my father's hand, gave my mother a kiss on the cheek, gave my brother, sister & grandparents a hug, then I was on my way to the stage. I got to the stage put on my New York Americans cap and my new jersey with a big smile on my face through the whole process. New York's going to be my home for next 8 seasons.
