It isn't quite active enough to be a lynching--things are thrown out there, along with lots of speculation about how the role list looks. But keep something in mind: even though it ended in an expected manner, last game was an example of how small chances can remain chances later on than one might think. Submit your night actions accordingly, especially since the Coven receives the Necronomicon tonight. And don't give up or assume anything about our Any All role list. Gustav went to a restaurant tonight that smelled strongly of cigarette smoke (somehow. Maybe it was fake but I don't know why you would do that). Gustav also now smells like cigarettes. Gustav's Spotify Wrapped has hit, and his #1 artist this year was Phish. I am officially an insufferable burnout. That considered, it's incredible that lots of you still sign up for this game. We've spent the past handful of them just barely crawling up on the 15-player mark--not that we absolutely need to be there, but I pride myself on hitting at least the official number every time--so please continue to keep an eye out for these games and keep sharing them with those you know who would enjoy them. My (unproven) hypothesis on this point is that we just don't have a super packed league anymore. That's not a bad thing, but having a handful of teams that are far from full gives more opportunities for other players to beat up on those teams. It's also likely that high-level players generally aren't competing for ice time right now and are more clearly the "best" on their teams--of course Simon will default to giving someone with 1100 TPA the points over their linemate who could be an IA roster filler or even a bot. I think the early S50s is an extreme example of this, where a handful of both skaters and goalers were putting up insane numbers just because the league was empty and they were better than all the players around them on either end (and probably average only against each other). I would rule out both the start of the league (where the "best" point was really wherever the S1 players were for their entire careers) and meta (which was kind of its own situation) as fair comparison points. Early S50s is a fair example IMO, as is that huge dip in your graph in the late S60s where we were pre-meta and rosters were fuller than ever. We had a couple seasons around then where no one hit 100 points--which I'm sure would make some people today lose their minds. IMO that's because of roster sizes--I'd venture a guess that we'll be able to point out that effect again with hybrid attributes in place to limit meta.

Yeah and honestly putting Low at #14 is probably even harder evidence that numbers aren't perfect. Obviously I understand that's true in a general sense outside of this article--my last one ranked players based on nothing but my own personal judgment of how my own made-up metric should work, so that isn't a criticism of this one. I'm not about to go around telling everyone that McFleury was the second-greatest of all time (sorry). This is still really fun, though! Props for the era adjustment because that's something I've always been too afraid to try quantitatively.

Week 3

By the time these threads get to the point where we're killing a confirmed good guy, they're usually pretty quiet. This was no different. Usually, Town being wrecked happens a little bit later than Night 1. Unknowingly to Town, @Doomsday was the JAILOR who did, in fact, jail @Ricer13 on that first night. By chance, the MAFIA came for Doom immediately. On Night 2, Town lost three of its members. After the most important Town role fell on N1, the second-most important--MAYOR @LucyXpher--was taken out by @NSG the JUGGERNAUT. With half of Town out immediately, including its two largest fighting chances of winning and both Protective roles, it was essentially all we could do to watch our thread turn quiet and uneventful while evils sorted themselves out. We conclude our game with a fairly expected, but still allowed for, choice to lynch @jhatty8, the Town's last remaining citizen. Given that there is no more Salem left to Town, I think I get to acknowledge Hatty's refusal to adopt the new role names--he was an ESCORT. However quiet this game may have been, I sincerely hope that you had fun playing it, and that you learned a lot and would come back if it was your first time trying.
