  1. The VHL Times (LAS VEGAS, NV) Today Kyle Sabertooth was spotted doing something out of the ordinary. Sabertooth, a man who almost never breaks routine, was seen heading into a martial arts gym. Sabertooth almost always heeds to the team weight room to workout for two hours. That’s why this break of character is weird for him. Even stranger, Kyle was accompanied by MMA fighter, and also his cousin, Dante Sabertooth. The two were seen entering Dante gym, and Sabertooth left a few hours later. Kyle later confirmed that the his cousin Dante was invited him to come and train. Dante taught Kyle different techniques for fighting. Dante also said that “After we finished working at my gym, we went to the ice. I decided that me and Kyle should spar, but we should do it on the ice to give him a fair advantage.” Dante also confirmed this was nowhere near the first time he has helped Kyle learn how to fight. This would explain Kyle’s unorthodox fighting style on the ice. Kyle said he is going to continue working with his cousin to improve his combat skills. He is doing whatever it takes to ensure he can protect his teammates this season.

  4. Thanks just wanted to make sure I get the updates too
  5. 1. Honestly I think we, the Las Vegas Aces, are. We are coming straight off of a cup win and have a possible mvp canidate in Josh Harris. No one can stop us 2. I personally think they should add a team to my hometown of New Orleans Louisiana. 3. It’s always easier if you never get out of shape. I focused this offseason on improving my condition, so I should be better this year than ever. 4. I know it is just preseason, but if I don’t get a few goals, something is off. It will probably effect me for the rest of the year. 5. David Harris is a great guy. Such a leader in the locker room. 6. They should add more things to do durrring the offseason.
  6. Early Life Kyle Sabertooth was born in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1999. He lived with his parents, and his older brother. As a child he was very active. His mother said he was “bouncing off the walls.” Kyle was very social and energetic. He had many friends and was very happy. His parents were impressed at how level headed he was, noting that after he turned two years old, he had virtually no tantrums. During his early years, he and his older brother, Mark grew very close. Mark was six years older than Kyle, but that never seemed to be a problem. They did almost everything together, from going on adventures to playing Halo together. They were inseparable. In 2004 when he was 11 years old, Mark started playing Lacrosse. After practice, he would come home and teach Kyle what he learned. Their parents even bought Kyle a mini Lacrosse stick so the two could play together. After they would throw, they would always come in and play halo 2 together. Mark and Kyle were perfect together, but one day would change everything. On August 29, 2005 Kyle’s whole life changed. One of the worst natural disasters in US history occurred. Hurricane Katrina made landfall, and devastated New Orleans. Overall, over 1800 people died, and sadly, Mark was one of them. He was staying with cousins also in the city. Floods consumed the entire house, and killed everyone inside. Kyle’s family was devastated, with his mom nearly becoming suicidal. A Changed Person The person most affected by Marks death was Kyle. He grew distant and cold. Gone was the carefree social child, replaced by an apathetic shell. For the first time in years, he experienced frequent tantrums and violent outbursts. He truly was a different person. For the next few years, he was a very distressed child. As he matured, he began to view his brothers tragedy in a different way. He saw it as his fault, and he vowed to never let anyone he cared about get hurt again. Intro to Sports When Kyle was ten, he started playing football. He enjoyed the sport greatly, and it likely helped him get out his anger. He was a very good linebacker and running back, even though he lacked speed. He became more well behaved and social. He still was abrasive when first meeting someone, but now if they worked past that they would find an incredibly loyal and caring friend. Football helped Kyle’s mental health immensely. It also got him to start thinking about pursuing other sports, particularly those in the spring and summer. He tried soccer, but found that he was very bad with his feet. He was also pretty bored with the sport. He also tried baseball and was pretty good at it. He had a very powerful swing and a good arm. However, he found the sport to be very boring. He hated that most of the sport was just sitting around and waiting. Eventually he found that Lacrosse was the sport for him. Sabertooth initially was reluctant to play Lacrosse. It reminded him too much of his brother, and he felt that it would make him too sad. However, as other sports didn’t work out he decided he would give it a try. He immediately fell in love with the sport. He loved how it had the physicality of football, but the action never stopped. He became a star midfielder, and could easily have gotten a scholarship to Duke. He led his middle school team to two state championships. Kyle also started to workout often when he was not playing Lacrosse or Football. He spent nearly every minute he had in the gym. In his 8th grade year he gained 35 pounds while maintaining 7% body fat. He began to become a huge brute, dominating in both football and lacrosse. This helped him meet his first love. Through out that year he was in love with Jessica Hartman. They planned to marry each other as soon as they turned 18, however it was not to be, as in December of Kyle’s freshman season, his family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Minnesota After a stellar freshman football season, Kyle’s family moved to Minnesota. His dad was offered a job there that no one in the family could confuse. Kyle joined a local high school, and started playing Lacrosse immediately. He brought new life to a dying team. He was the team's leading scorer, and was also lockdown on defense. He created numerous turnovers, often resulting in easy scores for his team. This team impacted his life in many ways, but easily the most important started off as a simple question. At the end of his freshman season, Kyle was asked by a teammate if he had ever played hockey. When he responded no, the teammate convinced him to give it a try. He spent the next few months learning how to skate and play hockey. When the season finally arrived, Kyle joined the team. He was at first very bad, as every one around him had much more experience. However he was able to figure out how to use his physicality to his advantage. He spent his first year as an enforcer, even once getting ejected for fighting. However throughout the year he began to figure out how to shoot, pass and other basics of hockey. After working on his skills all offseason, Sabertooth was finally a decent player in his junior year. He figured out how to play defense, and now had a dangerous shot. He also started to figure out how to use his lacrosse skills in hockey. He knew how to anticipate passes, and spin off of checks. His coach said that “His junior year was the first time you could tell that Kyle was special. You could see the flashes of brilliance, but then he would do something stupid and make you question everything.” Sabertooth finished out the year helping his team to the playoffs. By his senior year Kyle was a force to be reckoned with. He led his team to a state championship and received plenty of interest from VHL scouts. Eventually the Las Vegas Aces’ GM got in touch with Kyle and signed him. Kyle is currently a player for the Aces, and looks towards making his mark on the NHL.

  9. The VHL Times (LAS VEGAS, NV) Today at the Las Vegas Aces practice session, an altercation occurred. Rookie wingers Kyle Sabertooth and Micheal Rasmussen got into a fight. According to eyewitnesses, the event occurred while the team was practicing their power play. Both players were on the ice, and Sabertooth had the puck. Rasmussen called for a pass, but Sabertooth refused and took a bad shot. Rasmussen appeared to confront Sabertooth about this. Things escalated into both players violently shoving each other. Rasmussen then threw his gloves down. Sabertooth was about to do the same, when teammates came over and restrained both of them. Sabertooth claimed full responsibility, saying “I made a bad play. When he confronted me on it I got too defensive. I should not have escalated things.” Scouts worried about sabertooths temper, and it appears to already be causing problems. Let’s hope nothing like this occurs in the future
  10. Rookie Profile: Kyle Sabertooth Position: Left wing Height: 6’2 Weight: 230lb Shoots: Right Handed Age: 19 Hometown: New Orleans, Louisiana Bio Growing up in New Orleans, Louisiana, Kyle never had much of a chance to play hockey. He spent most of his childhood playing football and lacrosse. He dreamed of getting to play in the EFL or NLL. However, when he was 14 everything changed. His family moved to Minnesota, and he was introduced to the game of hockey. He immediately fell in love with the game. Any thoughts of glory in the EFL were gone and his only goal in life was to make it to the VHL. Now, just five years latter, he has his chance. Playstyle Sabertooth is a large two way forward who uses his size and strength to his advantage. He is sound defensively, a side effect from his time as a midfielder in lacrosse. He is gritty and not afraid to get his hands dirty, fighting for the puck along the boards and battling for position in front of the net. Strengths Strength: Sabertooth is an incredibly strong man, spending almost all of his free time in the gym. In fact, his bench press rivals that of an EFL linebacker. On the ice he use his strength to his advantage. From ripping shots to beating down opponents, he is a terror on the ice. His checks are hard enough to leave his opponents unconscious. If he continues to work at it, he could become the next Scott Stevens. Scoring: Sabertooth’s shot strikes fear into his opponents. He has a slap shot that rivals that of Shea Weber’s, although he is nowhere near as accurate. In fact, he has ripped a few nets in his career. His wrist shot is just as deadly. He once gave a goalie a concussion by hitting him in the head with a shot. However with all the power behind his shot, he needs to work on his control and accuracy. He appears to have no control over where the shot is going. Although he is improving, and in a couple of seasons he should be much more accurate. Defense: Sabertooth has always emphasized the defensive side of his game. His skills are incredible, as is his awareness. If there is any flaw to his game, it is that he is too aggressive. He chases the play too often, but other than that he is sound. Weaknesses Skating: A huge problem for Sabertooth is his skating. He is one of the worst skaters in the entire league. Given the fact that he has only skated for 4 years, even this is impressive. He is very sluggish, and his turns are incredibly wide. As he continues to develop, his skating will eventually become about average, but that is the best he will ever get . Passing: On the ice, Sabertooth is a very selfish player. He will chose to shot first, if he can’t then he will try to run threw the defender. Only if neither of those options are viable, will he pass. When he does decide to pass, he is very inaccurate. He struggles even to consistently hit players 15 yards away. This is something he must fix if he ever hopes to make it in VHL. Leadership: Kyle is a rather quiet, abrasive person. Teammates often have little respect for him until they see how hard he works each and every day. His selfish play on the ice often causes conflict with his teammates. However, as his closest friends will attest, he is incredibly loyal to those who are his friends and teammates. He will defend them on and off the ice. However these are the only things that gain him respect. He will not stand up and take over a chaotic locker room. He will just stand to the side and mind his own business. This results in his play staying stable but the rest of his team will falter. He must learn how to take control, or else he may not get far in his career. Conclusion Sabertooth is an incredibly talented player. However he must learn the finer aspects of the game, and to stop relying on just his physical strength. He also must learn how to be a leader. Overall, I think that he will eventually become a cornerstone of a VHL team. In a few years, I would compare him to Gordi
