    Player Spotlight – Oliver Loo

Twenty-One-year-old right winger Oliver Loo joined the VHL on January 21st, 2024, after her player agent @Misty signed the Saskatchewan born winger up for the league. Loo joined the Miami Marauders for the remainder of the Season Ninety-Two season where she saw action in the teams last forty-eight regular season games. Loo put up six goals and four assists in her limited VHLM action last season, while also adding one goal and two assists in Miamis’ eleven playoff games.

At the conclusion of the season, Loo was eligible for all the Season Ninety-Three drafts, including the VHLM, VHLE and VHL. As of writing this article only the VHLE and VHL drafts have taken place, and Loo was selected in both of those drafts. Loo was first drafted twenty-third overall by the Calgary Wranglers in the VHL draft and then was drafted by the Cologne Express in the VHLE draft eighteenth overall. Loo will likely go even higher than that in the VHLM draft as she is the seventh best prospect available and top Canadian prospect in the VHLM draft.

With only one player ever born in Star City Saskatchewan making the NHL, Loo has the opportunity to put her small town on the map as she will head into her first full season in the VHLM in Season Ninety-Three. We wish Loo all the best and hope that she will be able to earn more TPE moving forward outside the normal welfare and additional TPE gains.

Review:  BAD ASS ARTICLE!  First,  I love the use of pictures in media spots to help break up the narrative, especially in a long read like this one.  Looks professional and really helps capture the reader. Second, you can really tell that you put effort into researching each prospect and putting the relevant and interesting information into the article that really personifies each player and what they bring to the franchise.  You had trade info, stats, and strengths of the players and it truly was one of the best media spots I've seen in a long time.  Excited to see the Wolves grow into a championship team!   Grade 10/10

    1. Hopefully it will kick start our competition window. With a younf hungry core and a few veterans maybe we can surprise some people this season.

    2. VVD. I think will have the most opportunities to lead the way with a younger defense core.

    3. I think the trades were good. Anytime you give up picks and lower end prospects it may come back to bit you in the ass, however its unlikely the core S92 rookies will stay together their entire careers due to cap, so Frank can always get some assets back in the future.

    4. Ninefingers, just cause the league tends to sway towards forwards.

    5. Success will be nothing short of a playoff appearance. Hopefully more than a first round appearance as well.

    6. I think we should draft Annie Oaks!

I don't get paid for bonus questions, sorry!

Smarch reacted to Noodle Enjoyer in The VHLE Draft.
The VHLE draft was held today and Annie Oaks @Noodle Enjoyer was selected 6th overall by Cologne, Cologne also added some more firepower by adding Forum Content @frescoelmo at 10th and Jean-Pierre Devote @eagle_3450at 12th. They also added great pieces for next season in Oliver Loo @Peiffy at 18th, Cody Toland @ctoland102 at 19th, and Billy Joel @The goat of hockey at 24th. They picked up a backup goalie in Herald Benson @Benson at 22nd. Cologne had won back to back to back Renaissance Cups before falling short past season, but they appear poised to go the distance once again with their fresh reinforcements.

Some other notable selections this year we saw Oslo pick up Antonia Bucatini @CowboyinAmerica 1st overall, then Benjamin Abenduct @Schnee at 5th, and UghSike @UghSike at 7th those are 3 quality players and future superstars in the making. Vasteras'  top three picks of the draft were Lucy Leitner @LucyXpher at 2nd overall, Gianfranco Del Rocco @Victor at 4th, and Yermolai Nabokov @fonziGG at 13th. The Rome Gladiators were able to bring in Gul Dukat @MSouthworth at 3rd, Nathan Ecker @Nathan_8 at 9th, and then Vanuza Kolesinka @chikn at 15th. Stockholm's first pick wasn't until round 2 where they got WWumbo @Fire Tortorella at 8th overall, then they selected Aleksanteri Kaskiniemi-Kekkonen @Snussu at 20th, and then Trimiskez Artav @jake at 28th. Bratislava's first pick wasn't until all the way back in the 5th round so their options were limited, they got themselves Ocean Codoller @FreshOceanCod at 29th, Connor Simard @Alex99 at 35th,  and Filip Zinek @FiZi at 41st.

If I had to pick a draft winner it would be the Vasteras Iron Eagles, they had lots of high selections and even managed to pick up two stud goaltenders in Jorgen Lovstrom @Pifferfish at 16th and Ondrej Vencko @Mutti at 26th. Behind them would be Oslo in my opinion followed closely by Cologne. But there was a lot of talent in this draft and it should be an exciting season seeing this new blood take to the ice in the European league.

Smarch reacted to Noodle Enjoyer in Annie goes to Germany.
It's time for Annie Oaks to go back across the pond to Cologne Germany.

Annie Oaks as soon as she got the call telling her she was selected 6th overall by the Cologne Express she immediately started packing her bags to ship out to her new home. Upon arriving she decided she was going to take in the sights of her beautiful new home first, but then it would be down to business and grinding out some workouts and getting accustomed to her new arena. Annie is joining a franchise that has had unprecedented success in recent years and the team and fans will be expecting a lot from their new top pick, so getting game ready is a top priority for Oaks who will want to be a big part of more success for her new team. Cologne seemed to focus on adding offensive firepower up front in this years draft their top three picks to add offensive forwards and will be looking to scorch the league this year. We reached out to Annie's agent Noodle Enjoyer to talk about expectations for this year.

"The expectation is to win a Renaissance Cup. With the roster they have in Cologne anything less than that would be a disappointment. On top of that Annie has said she's looking to be top five in rookie scoring this year while picking up at least 30 goals and 80 points. The competition will be tough with old foes from the VHLM and new VHLE veterans but Annie will be up to the task."

Annie will look to use her offensive abilities to help Cologne this year while focusing on improving her all around game while preparing for the next step on her hockey journey. Already, this offseason she has put a lot of time into improving her defensive coverage and will need to continue working on that and other skills before making the jump back to Vancouver. We expect that Annie will not only live up to expectations but surpass them this year despite the stellar competition she will have to face off against. No matter what Annie will do her best to give the fans in Cologne the best year that she can.

Only time will tell if Annie will be able to meet her goals and improve her game enough over the course of this season to make the jump to the VHL next season. The focus now though is her time in Europe, where she will try once again to win a cup hopefully with more success than in her VHLM season.

Smarch got a reaction from AJW in Season Ninety-Three Vancouver Wolves
    Season Ninety-Three Vancouver Wolves
After struggling though the last two seasons, the Vancouver Wolves will hopefully be turning the corner in Season Ninety-Three. While seven players from last season are scheduled to return to the club for the upcoming season, the team will also see seven new faces donning the Black and White for Season Ninety-Three. Today we will look at the roster for the upcoming season, a season which General Manager Frank Chadwick and Assistant General Manager Gaikoku-hito hope the team can bounce back and be a VHL playoff team already next season.
    Forwards:
    Left Alone (S86-LW):

Alone joins the Wolves after a trade that brought him to the club after he finished his fifth season with the Moscow Menace. A veteran presence on a very young Wolves roster, Alone will hopefully continue on his recent offensive tear, which saw him put up ninety-three and ninety-four points the last two seasons in Moscow. Drafted Third Overall in the Season Eighty-Six VHL Entry Draft by the Seattle Bears, Alone was dealt after his rookie season in Seattle to Moscow, where he grew into a point per game player over the last three seasons. The only thing that might hamper Alone this season is the fact he only has 30 TPE banked heading into depreciation, something that might hinder his ability to be a point per game player as he enters his seventh VHL season. Regardless the Wolves fans, management and locker-room is ecstatic at the fact they have an elite forward on the roster as they head into a new season.
    Logan Ninefingers (S92-RW):

Coming off a season that saw Ninefingers get traded, then win the Renaissance Cup with his new VHLE team, Ninefingers is looking to bring his winning ways with him to Vancouver. After being drafted by the Wolves First Overall in the Season Ninety-Two VHL Entry Draft, Ninefingers spent a season honing his craft in the VHLE. After being selected Sixth Overall in the VHLE Entry Draft, by the Oslo storm, the youngster from America was dealt to the Vasteras Iron Eagles, a trade that was quickly vetoed due to a change in management. While Ninefingers was rightfully upset at the vetoed trade, it worked out wonderful in the end for the winger. Later in the season, Ninefingers was traded to the Bratislava Watchmen, who would go onto upset the defending VHLE champion Cologne Express, allowing Ninefingers to get his first taste of a championship in his young VHL career. Now Ninefingers heads to Vancouver as the likely top candidate for the Christian Stolzschweiger trophy as the leagues top rookie.

    Nick Sansoe (S87-C):
Sansoe is the first member of the Wolves roster we will touch upon in his article that is expected to return to the club after toughing it out in Van City last season. Sanose is coming off an amazing season last year with the Wolves, which was only his second season in the VHL after his rookie season with London back in Season Ninety. Sanose was the team leader for Vancouver in assists (56) and points (88), one ahead of powerhouse defenseman Liv Slater. Sansoe signed as a free agent with the Wolves last season after spending Season Ninety-One as a member of the Rome Gladiators in the VHLE. Sanose was drafted by the London United way back in the Season Eighty-Seven VHL Entry draft, but never really panned out for the United as they would have hoped, but after last season with the Wolves the towering 6’8 forward from the United States showed that good things do really come to those who wait. With what should be an improved roster heading up to the Wolves in Season Ninety-Three, one will have to wonder if Sanose will be able to continue his offensive ways in the upcoming season.

    Ben Dover (S86-RW):
Another member of the Wolves roster that is expected to return this season, Ben Dover was another Wolve that saw his point production increase on a relatively bad team last season. Dover had a good rookie season in Season Ninety-One with the Wolves putting up fifty-three points in his seventy-two games played but rose to a point per game player for the franchise in Season Ninety-Two, putting up thirty-six goals and thirty-seven assists, good enough for seventy-three points which was third on the entire team. Now as Dover heads into his third season in the VHL and with the Wolves, after signing a contract extension for Season Ninety-Two Dover will hopefully show the Wolves management team he belongs, or at the very worst showcases his talent for another VHL team if the Wolves decide to go other route at the conclusion of the upcoming season.

    Mikko Borisyuk (S89-C):

Borisyuk is one of the new faces that will be joining the Wolves in the upcoming season, after spending the last three seasons since his draft year with the Bratislava Watchmen. Borisyuk is another member of the Wolves roster that got his first taste of championship hockey, as a part of the Watchmens Renaissance winning team in Season Ninety-two, but now a much harder task is on the horizon for Borisyuk. Borisyuk is currently the second centerman on the Wolves roster, which means there will be a bit more pressure on the youngster, as he’ll likely be playing on the second line behind Sansoe right from the get-go, something that a lot of rookies don’t experience right away. Borisyuk has put up back-to-back thirty goal seasons in the VHLE, something that Borisyuk and the Wolves management will continue when he enters the big league. With a young roster around him, hopefully the first-gen player can come into his own as one of the older rookies on the roster.
    Carson Walker Jr (S89-RW):

Walker Jr enjoyed a very good rookie season with the Wolves in Season Ninety-Two, as he was able to put up thirty-two goals and twenty-nine assists in the Wolves seventy-two games played. The sixty-one points that Walker Jr put up last season put him in third place in the rookie scoring race, behind names with much more fanfare in Grimgor Ironside and Leif Reingaard, which puts Walker Jr in very good company. Prior to putting on the Wolves jersey last season, Walker Jr was another member of the franchise that spent time in the VHLE with Bratislava. In 144 games played in the VHLE with Bratislava, Walker Jr put up fifty-four goals and fifty-six assists, showing he is a balanced forward that can bury the rubber or help set up his teammates. Now entering his fifth of nine eligible seasons in the VHL, Walker Jr will look to make a bigger impact as on of the older forwards on the Wolves roster, this time with hopefully a much better core around him. Only time will tell is Walker Jr can improve on his sixty-one-point rookie season in Season Ninety-Two.

    Zyn Westwood (S89-RW):

Westwood is coming back to the Vancouver Wolves from the New York Americans after being traded a few weeks into Season Ninety-Two. Entering his fifth VHL season, Westwood will be entering his second season with the Wolves after playing the final forty-four games with the Americans last season, a team where he also spent Season Ninety and Ninety-One with. Westwood was selected Fifth Overall back in Season Eighty-Nine by the New York Americans but hasn’t really been able to live up to the normal hype one would expect from a top five pick in the VHL Entry Draft. So far in 217 VHL games played Westwood has put up thirty-five goals and forty-four assists however, Westwood to his credit has played on some of the worst VHL teams in those four VHL seasons, with only the Season Ninety-Two New York team making the playoffs. Hopefully after being left off the only playoff roster, he could have appear on last season with New York will light a fire under the right winger this season for Vancouver.

    Mclean Hoover II (S87-RW):
Hoover II is another member of the Wolves roster that played last season with Vancouver in his rookie season. Hoover II was drafted back in the Season Eighty-Seven VHL Entry Draft, where he went thirty-third overall to the Riga Reign. Hoover never played a game for his draft team, instead Hoover II spent two seasons with the Mississauga Hounds in the VHLM (S87, S88) and three seasons with the Rome Gladiators in the VHLE (S89, S90, S91). When free agency hit for Season Ninety-Two Hoover II was offered a one year $1,500,000 contract with Vancouver, where he impressed the management team enough to be offered the same one-year contract heading into Season Ninety-Two. As he enters his second season in Vancouver and second VHL season, the Wolves hope that Hoover II can improve on his thirty-four-point performance in Season Ninety-Two.

    Defense:
    Liv Slater (S88-D):

The man, they myth the Wolves legend, Liv Slater put the VHL on notice with her offensive production in Season Ninety-Two. Slater is entering her fifth season in the VHL and fourth on the Wolves roster, after spending her rookie season with the team that drafted her Seventh Overall in Season Nighty-Eight, the Chicago Wolves. Heading into Season Ninety-Two, Slater has 135 points in 216 games, then she exploded off the charts with a eighty-seven point performance last season. Slater put up thirty-six goals and fifty-one assists in seventy-two games which was good enough for third place in the defenseman scoring race behind Mark Calaway and Pierre Emile Bouchard. Slater was the talk of the town in Vancouver last season as her offensive performance seemed to come out of nowhere, including her hybrid record breaking thirty-six goal season which is the best goal output since Season Eighty-three. Now with a much-improved roster around her as we enter Season Ninety-Three, one question on everyone’s mind in Vancouver is, what will she do next?

    DB IV (S92-D):

A member of the three-headed rookie monster on defense that will be joining the Wolves next season, DB IV hopes his losing finals ways is behind him as he leaves the Cologne Express of the VHLE. DB IVs VHL career started on the highest of highs as he was a member of the Season Ninety Founders Cup winning Mississauga Hounds roster, but over the last two years his luck has appeared to run out as a member of the Houston Bulls and Colone Express. Now as DB IV is ready to enter the VHL, he is hoping to go back to those winning ways he experienced in Season Ninety with the Hounds. Last season DB IV helped the Express back to the Renaissance up finals, as he put up a respectable 8 goals and twenty-five assists in seventy-two games played with Cologne. DB IV also appeared in all nine playoff games with the Express, where he was only able to put up one assist in the team’s nine games. DB IV is eligible to return back to the VHLE next season, but it appears the Wolves management have him slotted in as the fourth defenseman on the roster which will hopefully pay off huge for both the Wolves teams and DB IV himself.
    Guntis Gavilrovs (S92-D):

Gavilrovs is another member of the three headed rookie class that will be joining the Wolves on defense this upcoming season. Gavilrovs spent last season with the Stockholm Vikings in the VHLE where he went off offensively, putting up seventeen goals and a league leading sixty-one assists. Gavilrovs was a huge part of the reason that Stockholm was able to hang onto third place in the VHLE standings, however he alone couldn’t lead the Vikings past the eventual Cup winning Watchmen in the first round of the VHLE playoffs. After a very good regular season, Gavilrovs did keep up that offensive pace in the post-season against Bratislava as he put up four assists in the Vikings eventually five game loss of the Watchmen. Now as he enters his rookie VHL season Gavilrovs hopes he can continue putting up a point per game in the VHL.

    Vlad Von Carstein (S92-D):

The last member of the rookie crew that is joining the Wolves on defense this season, Vlad Von Carstein is the last member of the roster to also bringing a winning pedigree to the VHL this season. Carstein saw action in all seventy-two games for the Watchmen last season, putting up fourteen goals and fifty-seven assists, which was just one point under a point per game for the German defender. Carstein upped his game come playoff time for the eventual Renaissance winning Watchmen, where he put up four goals and five assists in the teams nine playoff games. Now Carstein will join the Wolves roster as the number two defenseman on the club and can hopefully keep up the offensive production in Season Ninety-Three and beyond.
    Goalie:
    Dalkr Vidarsson (S91-G):

The lone goaltender on the Wovles roster, Dalkr Vidarsson is coming off his rookie VHL season that saw him face the second most shots in the entire VHL. Vidarsson saw action in sixty-four games last season for the Wolves and had himself a very good season all things considered. Vidarsson put finished the season with a record of 26-32-6 to go along with a .925 save percentage and 3.09 goals against average. Vidarsson also had five shutouts on the season, which tied him with Fuukka Rask for third place in the entire VH, trailing only Joel Castle and Merome Dilson by one shutout for the league lead. Vidarsson played behind a roster that did not have many quality defenseman besides Slater, so as we head in to Season Ninety-Three Vidarsson must be excited as he’ll see time behind a much improved roster, including a much improved defense. Hopefully this is the season we see Vidarsson on the right side of the wins/loss column.

The VHL Draft has come and gone

Many young hockey players have found out where their future home in the VHL will be and now can see what their future may hold. But these players still don't know where they'll be in the present, the VHLE draft takes place tomorrow and we wonder just how much will it's draft order look like the VHL draft. We were able to catch up to Annie Oaks who was selected 4th overall at the VHL draft by Vancouver and we were able to ask a few questions.

    1. You were selected 4th overall by the Wolves how do you feel about this, and were you expecting it?

"I'm elated to be going to Vancouver, I played there in my youth and know how great of a city it is to play hockey in. I had a great interview with GM Frank @Frankand AGM Gaikokuhito @Gaikoku-hitoso was kind of expecting the call at 4th."

    2. So you had an idea you would be going to Vancouver, do you have any idea where you'll wind up in the VHLE?

"Honestly I have no idea where I'll be playing this season, I've only had a pair of interviews with VHLE GMs and I don't even know the draft order to be honest. But where ever I land in Europe I'll do my best to bring success there while honing my game to prepare for the VHL."

    3. Do you have any goals for the upcoming season if so what are they?

"My primary goal will be to win a cup where ever I end up playing, I want to score at least 30 goals with at least 80 points. I also want to be top 5 in rookie scoring, I'll do my best to achieve these goals before moving on to Vancouver.

    4. Is there anything you're looking for in a European destination, what kind of team would you most like to play for?

"I'm not too picky I'll just be happy to play for the team that picks me, but to give a real answer I'd prefer to play for a team that is offensive minded. I love to score goals and am hoping to pile them up this year before going to Vancouver."

    5. Lastly we'd like to talk about Vancouvers current roster and what about it you're most excited for?

"There's a lot to be excited for there, I'm super excited to see what the rookies can do there this year I can't wait to see how all the young talent performs. Also I love that the GM went out and acquired some veterans to surround them with to make their seasons as good as possible. I can't wait to get there and play with the likes of Logan Ninefingers @Scurvy, Riley Martin @Smarch, Vlad Von Carstein @Dom, and of course Guntis Gavilrovs @Girts."

The future of Vancouver does look bright, and so does Annies' as she looks to pack her bags and ship out for Europe with the hopes of winning a cup along with other accolades. We will have our answers as to where Annie and all the other young players will be playing once the VHLE draft concludes tomorrow.

VSN Presents: S92 World Junior Championship Roster Predictions!

Welcome to yet another VSN presentation of the World Junior Championship! We’re in the S92 edition today, and we have quite a bit to cover! The rosters for the S92 WJC have yet to be publicly announced, so in this edition of VSN, we’re gonna predict what each roster might look like, and how they’ll perform in the Round Robin and Medal rounds! Without further ado, let’s take a look at what these teams may look like in a few days!

    🇪🇺 Team Europe: 🇪🇺

Starting out with arguably the strongest team in the WJC once more, we have Team Europe. The biggest things out the gate that I noticed of this team is their remarkably strong defense and goaltending. Of the top eligible players for Team Europe, 5 out of the top 7 players are either defensemen or goalies, and are all near or at the 400 TPA mark in terms of their earnings. With this in mind, Team Europe is projected by VSN to absolutely shut down games, and be able to put up some decent number of goals offensively too. Adi Dassler @BOOM, Kimi Raikkonen @mattyIceman & Nico Belique @Syzygy headline the forward core, and are all also high earning forwards with heaps of skill on both ends of the ice!

All things considered, Team Europe is looking incredibly strong this WJC, and once more are projected to win the World Junior Championship! As we all know though, upsets have happened in the past, and Team Europe’s worst enemy may be themselves in the Medal Round as what happened in last season's WJC. With that in mind however, they have everything to prove this season's tournament, that last season was just a fluke and they’re ready to return to the throne of the World Juniors. Considering they fixed the biggest issue that plagued last season's team in terms of their depth and goaltending woes, anything short of a Gold will be a massive disappointment to everyone in Team Europe's system. Time will tell what ends up happening in a few days!

    🇨🇦 Team Canada: 🇨🇦

After a very disappointing end to last season's WJC, Canada has returned with a vengeance and looks to prove all the doubters wrong this season! Canada wants to at least win a game this season, and with the look of their projected roster, I expect them to win a lot more than just one!. With an incredibly strong first forward line in Isaac mclflopper @sportexperts show, Eno Velvson @Nykonax, and Bryce Woodworth @SirRupertBarnes headlining, the offense is going to be potent to say the least! Down the depth chart, they have a very strong center core, and will be leaned on rather heavily in special teams play. Beyond that, a good goalie in Toddly Bobbly @ToddlyBobbly and other wingers considered, Canada this season is going to be very offensively minded, and will be expected to put up a significant number of goals against weaker teams defensemen.

The only thing concerning this roster is the severe lack of elite Canadian defensemen present in their eligibility lists, which means they’ll either have to work their way down the list to find their own defensemen, or pick from other teams in the tournament. Either way, it’s not an ideal situation by any means for Team Canada, and will likely suffer in the scoresheet for it. Expect very high scoring games in which Team Canada takes part in on both ends of the ice. There’s at least one team like this each World Juniors, so Team Canada games are going to be very entertaining to watch happen this season! Team Canada is also VSN’s dark horse candidate for the World Junior Championship as their offense against Team Europe’s defense is going to be very interesting, and I personally will be very invested in those games myself!

    🌍 Team World: 🌍

Onto the halfway point of our coverage, we have the very interesting Team World! A similar situation to Team Europe, they bolster a remarkably strong goaltending situation. With arguably the best goaltender in the tournament between the pipes in Pipo Popa @npuBeT, and projected VHLM Playoff MVP in Jorgen Lovstrom @Pifferfish backing him up, Team World will likely have at least a few games stolen by their goalies. Moving past that, Theo Allard @InstantRockstar and Behrens Minion @UnknownMinion headlining the forward core as near top earners, Team World has a great chance at proving to be a bit of a Cinderella story in the making, and would certainly shake up the WJC dynamic if they ended up going all the way!

As with Team Canada, the depth might be the only thing holding them back from going rather deep into the Medal Round, but they have excellent pieces in key roles that makes the problem potentially void. A good goaltender duo in these kinds of tournaments usually makes or breaks a run, and Team World has everything they need in that regard to stay competitive. Whether the lack of All-Star caliber defensemen or depth proves to be a factor is yet to be seen, but Team World is going to be a very interesting team to watch in this tournament indeed. We shall certainly see what the future holds for them when the puck drops in a few days!

    🇺🇸 Team USA: 🇺🇸

Nearing the end of our coverage, we have Team USA! This is a very interesting team in that they aren’t necessarily the best team in the tournament, but definitely not the worst. They have an incredibly strong first forward line similar to Team Canada, and duels between these two lines in historic rivalry games is going to be a treat to watch. George Richmond @badcolethetitan, Logan Ninefingers @Scurvy and Riley Martin @Smarch are all maxed out earners and are going to be on fire in this tournament offensively speaking. Looking past that line, the depth certainly falls off in terms of pure skill, but that doesn’t discount the value that these players can bring to Team USA. Bric Sheithaus @Oldhead91 especially, despite only being at 200 TPA, put up 96 points last season with Las Vegas, and was a menace on defense with 237 hits on his stat sheet. With this MVP performance considered, he very well makes up for the TPA difference with pure grit and fortitude against the other teams.

Other players on this roster are excellent in their own regards too, as most of the projected players for Team USA’s defense are also near or at that 200 TPA marker, and will provide much needed VHLM All-Star caliber play to the American’s hopes to make a deep run. The only thing that may hamper this effort is their lack of goaltending depth compared to other teams. As mentioned previously, goalies more times than not make or break a run, but if Connor Hellebuych @HockeyFan4Life can pull out all the stops and put up strong games, Team USA very much has the capacity to upset a few teams and light up the tournament in the scoresheet!

    🇯🇵 Team Asia: 🇯🇵

Onto the final team of our list, we have Team Asia. It’s not looking good for Asia as it stands, just at face value compared to the other team's potential players. The highest rated player on Team Asia’s potential players would be Petit Hughie @Sen at 262 TPA. While this is a serviceable and good level to be at in terms of the competition, leaning on him to carry the team is going to hurt their efforts in remaining competitive. The only other defenseman on this list is Vladimir Kozlov @vladbatton, and he’s at 199 TPA. This situation could be a bit of a blessing in disguise however, as Team Asia might be able to make up the difference competitively by selecting defensemen from Team Europe or World as they have good depth in those positions.

Offensively, they are in a similar rut, both in terms of high TPA earners and in lack of people to actually fill the positions themselves. The team is likely going to look like a mish mash of players from all the other teams in the tournament, so it’s a bit impossible to predict who will make the final roster when they get announced soon. With how deep some teams are in their depths however, Asia might be able to capitalize on this and select them for their own roster, and potentially upset teams with their own players. While Asia has great potential to play spoiler in these regards, expecting a very deep run from them would be ill-advised.

That concludes today’s edition of VSN’s coverage of the S92 WJC! We look forward to seeing all the teams final rosters, and hope you enjoyed reading this article on the World Juniors! We’ll see you next time when we cover the Round Robin! For VSN, this is Marcus Svedberg, signing off!

Smarch reacted to Scurvy in Wolves Draft Oakes at #4
I logged into the draft tonight and really enjoyed the coverage.  There were some good interviews, draft insight, and some interesting conversations about players available.  It was clear that the moderators had done their homework, and it was fun to watch.  I was happy that several first gens were drafted early.

My club, the Vancouver Wolves held the number 4 pick in the draft so I was anxious to see who they were interested in drafting.  @Frank ended up drafting speedy right winger Annie Oakes @Noodle Enjoyer.  Annie spent her last season in Saskatoon and had a great offensive season with 31 goals 33 assists 64points.  Oakes is deadly on the power play, can help on the PK, and doesn’t hurt the club defensively.

This was a great pick up for a quickly re-building Wolves club that is young and hungry.  So WELCOME to the pack Annie, we look forward to a great future with you.

Another week closer to Season 93 and there are some happenings going on.  Pro-Am is in full swing, draft is upon us, some teams making some moves, and a look in on Thunder and Rip.

    TRADES
I honestly having been paying much attention this week but did see some notable trades worth talking about.  Now, I will preface this with I am not a GM and have no idea about cap space and/or reasons for trades.  I am simply a casual observer.

    Helskinki-Moscow
On March 3 we saw potential rookie of the year candidate Grimgor Ironhide and a 2nd round pick go to Moscow for Adi Dassler and a 3rd.   Both players are phenomenal, and I feel that Dassler will flourish well with Dixon and Lazaro.

For Moscow they receive a big bruising checker and proven scorer in Ironhide.  He will slot nicely into a deadly and young lineup. Moscow looks to be deadly for years to come.

What I question in this trade is the draft picks?  Dassler and Ironhide both are high TPE earners, and both are going to be all-star level players for their respective clubs but why the differences in picks?  Moscow gets a higher TPE player and a higher pick?  That is some Las Vegas Knight level negotiation or is there something I just don’t know about trades or VHL GMin (probably the case). Like I said, not a GM and have no idea how this shit works, Just curious.

    Moscow-Vancouver
In another Moscow trade they sent star forward Left Alone @okochastar to the Wolves for a 2nd round pick.  This is a great trade for Vancouver to acquire a 94-point scorer to give some much needed mentorship to a young forward core.  Moscow gets a good pick in a deep draft to add to their pool of deadly prospects.

In a separate trade, Vancouver added Sunglasses Joyo @JetsGoalie101 and hard-hitting Larry Abass Jr @RileyLRiley.

With the draft and free agency starting up It will be exciting to see where people land.

    Bollos de Trueno
With my buddy @Thunder coming back after a short break it has me excited.  He opted for another defenseman so it will be interesting to see which one turns out to be better.  Although, Jake Thunder will be some big shoes to fill.   But with that being said, Thunder is a high earner and currently sits at 137 TPE going into the dispersal draft in a few days.  Teams would be smart not to sleep on this pick.  I look forward to when he gets to VHL so the rivalry with Ninefingers can begin.

Now to check in on my other buddy, Rip Wheeler @ScottyP.   He had a pretty good season with 29-41=70 points.  Calgary has some beasts with Oreo McFleury and Randy Bobandy up front and Skor McFleury and Phil Strasmore in back so I am hoping Rip earning to help Calgary continue their winning ways. I especially am excited now since my player is in the VHL and in same division.  A Calgary vs Vancouver rivalry will be even more delicious if I can smack him around for a season or two.

Smarch got a reaction from Subject056 in Season Ninety-Three Vancouver Wolves

    S93 Rookie Experience

Logan Ninefinger’s path to the VHL has set a stage that he hopes to continue. A free agent signing by Miami in his re-create season he helped the club make a Cup final where they lost in 7 games.  Then, after going 5th overall in the VHLM draft to the Philadelphia Reapers he hit the ground running.  Scoring 64 goals, he helped the Reapers to a Founders Cup final where they lost in heartbreaking fashion. Two season, two finals, both losses.

Next, after being drafted 1st overall to Vancouver and 6th overall to VHLE Oslo Storm young Logan found himself on a re-building club.  This was a great experience as he had to battle against better talent and still held his own against Europe’s best.  At the trade deadline he was dealt to the Bratislava Watchmen which was full of hungry talent.  Here is where Logan learned to take a different role than scorer and became a 200-foot player, focusing on defense more and more.  The club was rewarded with a trip to the Cup final against the hated and deadly Cologne Express.  The Watchmen swept them eventually giving Ninefingers his first taste of a Cup, but not the last.

Ninefingers learned one thing after reaching the finals for three straight years, he loves winning and will do whatever it takes for his club to win.  Logan cares little of personal stats and would love to see multiple Cup wins during his career in the VHL.

Now that he has left for Vancouver he finds himself on a storied Vancouver club where winning is expected.  The S93 Wolves will have a string of hungry rookies like VHLE phenom Riley Martin, Guntis Gavrilrovs, DB IV, and Vlad Von Carstein.  In addition, GM @Frank has been working the phones trying to put some veteran talent such as Left Alone, Larry Abass Jr, and Sunglasses Joyo around to mentor the rookies to winning sooner rather than later.  Add these to the existing roster of greats like Liv Slater, Ben Dover, and goalie Dalkr Vidarsson the future is looking very bright in Vancouver.

Logan knows that the competition level for next season will increase but he has the work ethic and ability to compete.  Logan has said he will do whatever the team wants for them to be successful and challenge for that elusive Continental Cup for years to come.

    Player Spotlight – Ray Stanton

American defenseman Ray Stanton joined the VHL on January 27th 2024, after his player agent @horoscope singed the twenty-one year old up for the league. After missing out on the VHLM Dispersal Draft Stanton signed a one-year contract with the Saskatoon Wild the same day that he joined the league. Stanton unfortunately didn’t last too much longer after his singing date in Saskatoon, playing in only twenty-games in the bridge city prior to being dealt in a trade to the San Diego Marlins. The trade seemed to ignite Stanton as he would put up over a point per game in the eighteen games played with the Marlins, putting up nine goals and twelve assists in those eighteen games. San Diego and Stanton would head into the VHLM playoffs as the third seed in the North American Conference, where they we lined up to take on the Houston Bulls. Stanton and the Marlins would stumble a bit in the playoffs, eventually bowing out in six games against the Bulls, while Stanton was only able to put up one assist in those six playoff games. Currently in the off-season in the league, Stanton is focused on the upcoming drafts, along with his new management position in the Junior Showcase Tournament where he is the General Manager of the Royals club in the tournament.

As we head into draft season, Stanton is currently the thirteenth prospect available in the VHLM Dispersal Draft, twenty-third prospect available in the VHLE Draft and VHL Draft with 174 TPE obtained to date. With all the work Stanton has been putting in, putting his name out there by taking on a management role in the league, it might be a safe bet to make saying he will go much higher than listed in each draft this off-season.

    Off-Season bore!!

While I know a lot of individuals find the off-season rather boring as do I at times; it can also be one of the most exciting times for players and managers a like as trades, drafts and tournaments can keep things very interesting. Behind the scene the Wolves Management have been busy this week and most likely will be busy right up until the start of the season so lets talk about some of the moves that they have made already this off-season and what you think of the “New” team. Answer three questions for one TPE or all six for two TPE. As always have fun!!

    1.     What do you think of adding a veteran like Left Alone @okochastar to our young core will provide this season?

    2.     Six Rookies enter this season; who is going to lead the pack? Why?
(Riley Martin, Logan Ninefingers, Mikko Borisyuk, Vlad Von Carstein, Guntis Gavilrovs & DB IV)

    3.     Vancouver Wolves have been at it again adding two more veteran players in Sunglasses Joyo @JetsGoalie101 and Larry Abass Jr @RileyL; what do you think of the overall trade and do you think Vancouver gave up too much for these veteran players?

    4.     Out of the six rookies which rookie is likely to win the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy? Why?

    5.     With all the additions this season, what does success look like for the Vancouver Wolves this coming seasons? Why?

    6.     Draft day is coming soon so Who should the Vancouver Wolves draft at the fourth overall selection? Why?

Bonus: If Vancouver Wolves make the playoff this season does Frank win another David Knight Trophy or does Vancouver need to go deep into the playoffs?

Smarch got a reaction from Frank in Season Ninety-Three Vancouver Wolves
