I'm particularly fond of the Jacob Rogers acquisition. I feel as though the completion of the rookie profile and the biography are good indicators of a level of commitment to the VHLM. Likewise, we were lacking at RW depth. Alexander Shaw could be a clutch acquisition as well. I'm not too concerned about acquiring another defenseman but I am afraid that any D-man acquisitions from here on out may not be that active. We'll just have to wait and see I guess. Still have faith tho A rivalry suggests that there's a degree of competition between the two teams, does it not? Apparently it doesn't. Yeah no, if it isn't here it's free agency for me, committed to the cause. I don't know much about these other teams but I'd have to go Moscow Menace. I would love to try and be a cornerstone for a rebuilding team. It's definitely tough losing both a second and a fourth to trade up to get Rayzor. Although he'll be sick for the team I think that's ultimately what has resulted in the lack of defensive depth so I guess we'll see.

Dan Gles was recently selected in the 4th round of the VHLM entry draft, starting off his professional career with the Mississauga Hounds. Interviewer: "Dan, what were your first thoughts when you heard your name called for the 36th selection?" Gles: "You know, it's always been a dream of mine to enter the VHL. So if being drafted to the Hounds is what it takes to get a shot at the VHL then I'm ready to go out there and play." Interviewer: "There wasn't any cause for concern going to an expansion team rather than a more established team?" Gles: "You know, some people may think that way but being a mid-round projected player, I always kind of saw myself going to an expansion team. I think I bring a certain presence to the locker room and I'm sure that I can help this team win a cup. Also it's nice to know that if I work hard then I won't be buried on the roster as I would be on some of these other teams." Interviewer: "So you're clearly excited to be with this franchise, what's the atmosphere like with your team so far?" Gles: "Well, certainly it can be hard to establish an atmosphere in a new locker room. People try to find their place and roles need to be established. The Vegas Golden Knights showed that it was possible to create a highly functioning team in their inaugural year though so I think that's encouraging for us. Nonetheless, our GM and AGM have made it easy to be a part of the team so I think we're really just preparing for the season and doing our best to get to know each other." Interviewer: "Any last comments for the fan base?" Gles: "Get excited because I think we have the pieces to go somewhere this season. People won't be sleeping on us for long." Interviewer: "Thanks Dan." Gles: "Thank you."

Chett Bandy Draft Graphic [1/2]
No_Dangles replied to mmarcoux98's topic in Archived Graphics/Videos
REVIEW: The name and the number on the back of the jersey look legitimate. Likewise, I like how the Hounds color scheme was used in the creation of the graphic. The only thing that looks a little out of place is the player name and position in the bottom, but nonetheless still a fan! -
REVIEW: Love the idea of making graphics for the draft classes. I would consider making the yellow the same color as that on the Ottawa Lynx. Also, with some of the players you can tell that the bottom half of them is missing, so maybe raise the banner at the bottom a little?

REVIEW: I like the idea of the graphic and the usage of all players from the same team. I would consider color adjusting the background to the same green on the jerseys though. Nice job!

There was some buzzing from other prospective teams so I wasn't very sure where I would end up. I knew that Mississauga had some interest in me but I had zero expectations when it came to where I would end up. Absolutely, seems like we're getting a good locker room going, just trying to find my place haha My player is built upon the idea of a quik 2-way forward; Gles is supposed to be responsible with the puck and focus on puck movement out of our defensive zone. That being said, he likely has the capability of being a solid defenseman as well. I would have to say @GustavMattias was actually the player who really got me going in the VHLM so it's very interesting that he ended up drafting me. There's no doubt in my mind that this team can win it. I sure am ready to practice up and build this team into a contender. My player has a defensive build, maybe my player can end up being point per game depending on ice time? I'm really not sure about that one.

Dan Gles 18 | C | 220 lbs | 6'0" Gles is a defensive speedster at the center position who formerly played for the Ithaca Little Red and is currently a student athlete at Cornell University. He recently has decided to opt in to the VHL expansion draft and is seeking to become a part of a franchise where he can be the cornerstone of their penalty killing unit. Personal Life A true American, Gles was born on July 4th to father Bo Gles and mother Min Gles. As the only son of two professors, his parents made ample time to focus on Dan’s cognitive development. It didn’t take long for Dan’s parents to find that he was quickly outpacing the rest of his fellow classmates. As a result, his parents decided that it be best that Dan skip grades 2 and 3. This focus on academia would be a major theme throughout Dan’s life. He currently resides in is hometown, Ithaca, NY; where he continues to develop his 2-way style of play. Early Career Gles attending his first figure skating lesson Dan first set foot on a smooth ice surface at the age of 3. Quickly developing his skating abilities in his backyard during winter months, his parents found that he was too natural of a skater to not utilize his talents. As a result, Dan was quickly enrolled in figure skating lessons and focus on his craft. Drawing inspiration from fellow Ithacan, Dustin Brown, Dan found that he was drawn to Ice Hockey despite being heavily involved in Figure Skating. At the age of 8, his parents reluctantly enrolled Dan in a local ice hockey program on the condition that he continue to focus on his academics. His coaches quickly found that Dan, having the background of a figure skater, had a natural skating ability and easily out skated the rest of his teammates. As a result, his coaching staff decided to put him at defense where he would primarily play for his early career. It wasn’t until the beginning of high school that Gles would run into issues playing at the competitive level. Standing at 90 pounds and 5’ 0”, Dan was severely undersized for his high school’s hockey squad. It was at this point that Dan’s parents had a scare. In the second half of his rookie season, Dan was boarded in the 3rd period. Dan had sustained a concussion that would keep him out of school for a week. His parents, already concerned about his small stature, decided to withdraw him from the program. After major pushback from their son for over a year, Gles re-enrolled in the program at the age of 14 (grade 11). He quickly impressed the coaching staff but still left more to be desired in terms of physical attributes. It was at this point in time that they decided that Gles would best serve the team as a Center, which he quickly excelled as. He then continued to lead the Ithaca Little Red to the NYSPHSAA championship where they lost in overtime. Dan served his senior year as the captain of the varsity squad where he would kill a 5 minute major to lead his team to their long desired NYSPHSAA championship title. University Cornell University, Gles's University At the age of 15, Dan decided to commit to his hometown University, Cornell. It was at this point when Dan believed that his Ice Hockey career as he didn’t believe he had what it took to make it professionally. Entering his freshman year, he decided to try out for the University squad as he still had a passion for the sport. The coaching staff were quik to realize that Dan had outstanding natural ability that couldn’t go unnoticed. The issue was that once again, Dan lacked the physical strength to compete with the rest of the team safely. The coaching staff decided it be best to have Dan workout with the team and get to know everyone for his Freshman year. He played minor minutes with the team for his first year in the NCAA, solely working as a Penalty-killing specialist. Following his first year, Gles was sitting comfortably at 6’0”, 200 lbs. Serving as a defensive cornerstone, Gles double shifted 3rd and 4th line minutes to assist the team with the lack of depth that they were experiencing. As a result, Gles served as the forward with the 3rd highest minutes on the team. During this past year, Gles served as a Junior alternate captain, leading his team to the ECAC hockey championship where they would ultimately lose in a loss to Clarkson University. Gles & co. thanking their fans after a tough loss to Clarkson NCAA Stats Interview Q: Who would you say your favorite VHL/NHL player is? A: In the NHL, I would have to say that I truly admire Anze Kopitar. The Los Angeles Kings are actually my favorite team as I look up to Dustin Brown; but I would have to say Kopitar resembles how I play the game. In the VHL, I would have to say I admire Jake Davis’s gameplay. Q: What are your expectations as a potential draftee? A: I’m really not expecting much. I’m really just trying to have fun with the whole experience and earn my spot on one of the teams. Q: Before the upcoming entry draft, what are you doing to prepare for the VHL? A: I’m really just trying to round out my skill in the face-off circle and maybe continue to work on conditioning. I don’t really feel as though I’m ready to keep up with those in the VHL. Future Prospects Although reluctant to abandon his 4 year degree, Gles has recently determined that he will opt in to the S66 VHL entry draft. In the upcoming draft, we would expect Gles to be a mid-to-low round pick as he really only has one side of his game figured out. While very defensively minded and talented as a skater, he still lacks the offensive abilities to truly contribute on a VHL roster. In the future we would like to see Gles round out abilities by focusing on his shooting and his hands. If a team were to round out the rest of his abilities, he could truly be a sleeper pick with top-6 VHL potential.

Dan Gles: +4 -
Name: Dan Gles Age: 18 Position: Center Height: 6’ 0” Weight: 220 lbs Hometown: Ithaca, NY Strengths Defense Gles is a responsible defensive forward. When in the defensive zone, he gets sticks in lanes and is willing to put his body on the line for his team’s benefit. As a center, for Cornell University, he has stayed relatively low in his offensive zone to account for mistakes by his team’s d-men. Very apparent that he puts defense as his number one priority. Skating Gles has a natural stride and has flawless fundamentals with respect to his skating ability. His crossovers are smooth and he really uses his edges when skating. His speed and acceleration are second to none in his league and are heavily showcased by his back checking and penalty kill ability. It should be noted that he does seem to lack some balance however it is unclear if he’s falling unintentionally or trying to draw penalties. Faceoffs Although not apparent to some, Gles has a natural ability in the faceoff circle. He’s willing to get physical and he is almost never pulled from the circle. He’s currently rocking a 55% in the face-off circle in the NCAA. Weaknesses Strength Although Gles is a prolific skater, he is easily bumped off the puck and as a result has a little bit of a problem with puck possession. The problem could easily be resolved if Gles were to hit the weight room Offensive Reluctance Although Gles appears to have the potential to be a high scoring player, he simply seems to refuse to take on any form of offensive responsibility. quik to pass the puck to his teammates, he isn’t selfish enough with the puck. Puck Handling Dan’s name is somewhat of a misnomer. He simply cannot lay down the dangles. As it currently stands, the kid has stone hands and seems to chop at the puck more than actually handle it. Summary Gles has outstanding defensive and athletic abilities. His back checking and penalty kill ability are second to none. That being said, these aspects of his game should continue to grow. Although he is reluctant to take on offensive responsibility, he has a high hockey IQ and will likely improve in those aspects of his game as he develops as a player. As it stands, Gles is best suited for a bottom six role with a presence on the penalty kill. Otherwise, he likely should spend time in the minors to improve on his offensive abilities.
