  1. “With the season beginning soon and the exhibition games ending the Marlins showed fans they have something to look forward to this season. “-Shannon (The Hockey guy) “The Marlins could be very dangerous this year, they have a young team and if they mesh well they could be scary”- Bob Mackenzie With the Marlins impressing fans and media with they powerful offensive game in exhibition games and practices, one player, while struggled to find the back of the net early, has really gelled into his role with the team well. Alex Pearson didn’t register a point in the first 3 Exhibition games, but as they went on he got better and better and you could tell it was coming. He played his role well though as an energy forward, was chippy, Forechecked hard and played a well rounded game. In game 4 of the exhibition his luck finally turned around, he scored a beautiful wrist shot goal on a beautiful pass from teammate Samuel Sparrow. Less then a minute later He got an assist on a goal by Dean Clarke. Pearson added a Late Goal and was awarded 2nd star. His offensive game showed big strides at the end of the exhibition games, hopefully this carries on into the regular season.
  2. After Being Runnerup for Atlantic Canadian university Hockey MVP last Season, Alex Pearson looks to make big strides in his first season for the San Diego Marlins. He will be interviewed by local sportscaster John Ready. ———————————————————————— JR:First of all, welcome to the city of San Diego! What are your first impressions of the city? Alex: Thanks John! It’s a great city, i come from a pretty small community so coming to a city like this is obviously a big change, but my teammates and GM are really helping me with the adjustment. ————————————————————————— JR:With the season Starting as soon as Monday what are you most excited for with this new opportunity? Alex:It’s been a long summer, I’ve worked really hard to get myself to where I am, I’m just excited to go out there and play my game and help this team go far this season in their inaugural Season. ———————————————————————— JR: Why did you end up signing with San Diego? There were other teams making offers for you if I’m not mistaken. Alex: Being on an expansion team Is always fun, we don’t really have expectations except for the ones we set ourselves. They have a solid roster and great leadership group and I’m excited to work with them all year to help elevate my game. I’m really excited to be here. ———————————————————————— JR: How does that wrist feel? Alex: Brand new, Ive been rehabbing it all summer and a few weeks ago was the first time I was able to do anything with that arm with zero pain, Its great, I can’t wait to get back on the ice and show the fans what I can do. ——————————————————————— JR: How we’ll do you think the Marlins will do this season? Alex: I think we are going to suprise a lot of people, we have a solid first line and a lot of hardworking guys, Eagles is an insane goalie too, he’ll suprise some people this season. ————————————————————————— JR: Thank you so much for your time, and good luck with your new team! Alex:No problem, thanks!
  3. How do you know how many words there are? Are for sure I’ll add some more, just a work in progress.
  4. 1.The whole thing is kinda surreal, It’s a weird but great experience, it takes some getting used to I guess, I’m starting to kinda gel with my teammates in practice so things are going pretty great. 2.Its never easy for expansion teams in s new league but we have a lot of talent and good leadership, I think this team will suprise some people, The GM knows what he’s doing. 3.Us, Phil and eagle are studs, the first line is deadly, I can’t wait to play with them. 4.Definetly Vegas, those games are gonna get scrappy for sure. 5.Pretty good, It’s my first season so I have my own expectations and I’m sure management has theirs, but I’m just gonna go out there and play my game the best I can and have fun with it and try to make this team better. 6.Phil looks poised for a breakout season, I think Greg could definitely bail us out a few times though if we need him too.
  5. Prospect Profile: Alex Pearson Age:20 Height;6’1 Weight:189 Position:Center Hometown: Moncton, New Brunswick Date of Birth: August 9 2000 Shoots:L NHL Comparison:Brendan Gallagher Stats: Moncton Highschool: Gp:90 Goals:68 Assists:71 Points:138 University: UNB Gp:56 Goals:54 Assist:34 Strengths Shooting: One is the best shots I’ve seen come out of Highschool Hockey. It’s fast, hard and he gets it up so quik the goalie barely notices it most times. His nature offensive talent and gifted puck control make him a threat every time he crosses the blue line into the opposing end. Forechecking: This kid hasn’t a motor that never quits, he’s one of the hardest workers out there, he’s the first one on the ice and the last one to leave. His stick checking, skating and pressure he applies is unmatched as teams frequently scramble with matchups when Pearson is on his A Game. Skating: quik, nimble and fast as lightning his skating is another thing that makes his offensive attack so much more dangerous. He’s stared this past summer he’s worked hard to improve his skating even more. Leadership: His leadership abilities have developed significantly over the years, he was a shy junior in his first year, and a fiery vocal leader by his time in UNB. Everyone listens when he speaks, and he is greatly respected by his teammates and the kind of guy every team would like to have in their locker room. Weaknesses Wrist Injury: The Jury is still undecided if this injury has truly stifled his development l, he missed 12 games st times throughout the UNB season due to lingering wrist pain. If his shot and upper body strength are affected this could be a high risk signing by the Marlins. Defence: His defensive game was almost non existent in Highschool, primarily getting offensive zone starts, but in UNB he was pressured by the coach to improve his defensive game, which gradually inproved as the season went on, if he continues this path of development this could become one of his strengths. Discipline: Whike he is a respected leader, he does take a lot of stupid Penalties, he is a pest, an agitator, and sometimes loses his temper. It’s good when you’re down by a goal and need someone to fire the team up, but when you’re ahead and he takes a penalty, it could cost you the game. Discipline is something that can be taught though, and as he gains experience and polishes his game I’m sure this will improve. He was second in PIM on UNB with 94 Minutes in the sin bin. Conclusion: A speedy sniping Center Alex has all the Extremely raw talent in the world, and if The San Diego gulls can extract that then he will likely work his way up the lineup, But if his wrist injury and defensive lapses become the bigger story he could find himself out of a job sooner then later. His struggle on the dot and defensive deficiencies might make him better suited as a winger, where he played by parts of his junior hockey career and excelled, so if he struggles out of the gate done be suprised if he’s moved to the wing to try and get his game together.
  6. Born on August 9 2000, Alex was Orphaned at age 6 after a drunk driving accident, He was adopted by his aunt, who took him in and raised him as her own. His Uncle John was an avid hockey fan, and personally paid for Alex to take skating lessons, would teach him the plays, which Alex would break down and write out in a notepad, examining he game. They never had enough money for him to play in a league or to afford equipment, so he played street hockey with the neighbourhood kids when he could. High school-First Steps When he was in high school Alex took on a job at the local rink in his Junior Year, cleaning and scraping the ice after games to help his family make ends meat, his uncles health was quickly declining and they were barely able to afford medical bills. During the times when he was alone in the rink Alex would sometimes grab spare sticks and pucks from the dressing room and shoot on the nets, practicing his skating, puck handling, dekeing, because it meant he was away from home less. After one of the games the high school hockey coach, Jason Spurr went back because he forgot his bag in the locker room and saw Alex skating and shooting. He showed displays of raw talent, A hard fast shot and silky smooth skating skills, he walked to the boards and called him over. He was so impressed by Alex’s play he gave him a shot on the high school hockey team for their opening game. He was placed on the forth line, He wasn’t really noticed much at first, a couple of the kids said hi and tried to make him feel like he was part of the team, but when his coach put him on the ice it was clear he was just as good, if not better then the kids 2-3 years older then him. He was fast, was nimble at creating plays and easily forced turnovers a few times in his first shift, but it was in the second period when he scored his first career hockey goal, that this journey truly began. He worked his way up the lineup and was quickly a top forward and leading scorer on that team, his insane hockey iq was a huge factor. He began going to the school gym at lunch and after class to bulk up, and was quickly one of the star athletes in the school. That high school hockey team dominated the conference, His insane shot and goal scoring instincts led him to score 29 goals, as well as add 38 assists in 33 games for Moncton High who finished first in the high school conference. The team dominated the playoffs and Alex was quickly Noticed by Junior scouts. As the years went on in his highscool hockey career his game significantly improved, he also joined the football team, lacrosse and track and field team. Just as the Hockey team was getting ready to make another long playoff run in his senior year, a high school fight led to him badly breaking his wrist and being sidelined for the whole playoffs. Scout began to turn a blind eye to his raw talent. That broken wrist took 3 months to completely heal but he was in the ice within a month. His player development was stifled a little as some scouts worried about his shot and upper body strength, one of his best attributes would likely be affected, but after months of rehab he was ready to dominate hockey once again. At first it was a slow start, summer training had many setbacks and it looked like the dream was over. His academic marks got him into the University of New Brunswick (UNB). With a few weeks before the start of the semester, Alex was cleared to play and he quickly attended UNB’s men’s hockey team training camp and was almost an automatic to make the team. UNB He attended UNB for one year and played for their hockey team, being named captain halfway through the season, There he developed his defensive game, taking more defensive zone face offs and working hard on his backcheck send shot blocking, but it was his offensive instincts that made him eye popping for fans. Late in the year he began missing games to what was later revealed to be the lingering wrist injury, it was very visible that he was playing with the injury in the playoffs, as he went 3-4-7 in 16 games. Throughout the regular season he scored 88 points in 56 games, leading the team, and being Named MVP. After that season he was approached by General manger of the San Diego Marlins for a spot on their team for the upcoming season. He graciously accepted and flew straight to San Diego to meet with the GM and quickly put pen to paper. His life long dream of playing professional hockey was finally falling together.
