  4. So recently Xander Hawley has told us, that his brother Emir might want to take a chance at the VHL, or atleast the VHLM. Emir is Xander's twin and as Emir is doing quite well in his team right now Xander has told him, that he could very well be succeeding in the VHLM and/or the VHL. Emir has played 13 games this season in Quebec and scored 5 goals and added 12 assists to that for 17 points, but he hasn't always shined through that bright. Here are Emir's thoughts: Why do you think you should take a chance at the VHL? "I mean with Xander obviously already playing in the VHLM going for the VHL as his dream I would really want to be a part of it. When we were young we always had big dreams together and not just on our own, so recently he asked me if I wanted to take a chance and told me I am definitely good enough for it. I don't really know about it though " How well do you think you will do in the VHLM? "I mean I think I will probably do decently well. Maybe not a point-per-game like I am right now getting here in Quebec, but maybe atleast for an example, 30 points in 45 games or something along the line of that." And how about the VHL? How good will you do there? "Well, not as good as in the VHLM probably. Maybe 10-15 points in 35 games. I really don't think I will be a superstar, even though I would really want to be one. So yeah, not too well I guess" Will you be as good as Xander, what do you think? "Well, I've never really been as good as Xan, so I don't think so. He has always been alot better than I have, except when he got the mild concussion and was out for almost a year. That's when I really had developed more than he had, and I was better than him for a little bit." What line do you think you could play at the best? "I mean definitely I could play in the first line, as it really depends on the team. I could be a first line winger on a team and a depth winger on another. So yea, first line at best, but again, it really depends on the team I eventually go to" What do you think is the biggest reason for your success in your current league? "This question is though. There are alot of good things in our team, for an example our offense and goaltending are both really stacked, but I'd say the biggest reason for my success is my teammates in many ways. They can finish from my passes and I can do the same from their good passes. They are also really funny in the locker room and many respect and cheer me alot, so that is another key reason." So overall I think Emir will atleast have a chance in the VHLM, and if he plays good, the VHL. He himself thinks he can succeed on that level, which obviously is a good start if he wants to play in the league. Xander also has similar thoughts on Emir. More on that later maybe

  10. Xander Hawley's start to his first VHLM season with the Aces has not started how he wanted it to. He's played 8 games and he hasn't gotten a single point yet. (Question, Hawley's answer) Why do you think you're not doing too well? "I think it's just the fact, that I'm new to the league and I'm not used to playing here and also I obviously have new linemates and I'm not used to these people, so the chemistry isn't that good yet" How long do you think it's going to take you to get that first goal/point? "I don't think it's going to take that long anymore. I'm pretty used to playing here now and the chemistry is going up" Do you think the fact, that your team isn't doing too good together has something to do with you not getting points? "Well, obviously it has something to do with it. The passes and shots by our players and not the ideal passes and shots. If we get going as a team, I think everyone will do alot better then obviously" - Game 1 - Saskatoon VS Las Vegas - Hawley's first game ended up being a 4-3 Loss agains Wild. The game was tight and here are Hawley's stats: 0G 0A 0P +/-0 0PIM 0S 0H 0SB 3/6FO 16:29MP 9:58PP 0:00PK So yea... Alot of ceros, ay? Well, he didn't do too well that game, though he played 16:29, which is almost one period. 9:58 on the Powerplay aswell, and still no points? Well, he didn't start off too hot... - Game 2 - Halifax VS Las Vegas - Well, we all know how this game ended... And it wasn't good... The Aces lost 7-2, and they were up 2-0 aswell. Hawley's stats were: 0G 0A 0P -1 0PIM 1S 0H 0SB 1/6FO 10:43MP 2:46PP 0:00PK Still alot of ceros, as you know, but hey, atleast he got a shot this time! He was also a -1 probably due to him only winning 1 faceoff out of 6 total. He also only played about half a period this time with only 3 minutes of powerplay time. The stats speak for theirselves once again. - Game 3 - Ottawa VS Las Vegas - Once again the Aces getting an L, but this time it wasn't as bad as last time, even though they let almost the same amount of pucks get past Ligriv as last game. They lost 6-4. Hawley still hasn't gotten going with the stats for him this game being: 0G 0A 0P -1 0PIM 2S 0H 0SB 0/9FO 14:36MP 8:31PP 0:00PK Once again he was a -1 with still no penalties and this game he had a really really, REALLY bad problem in the faceoff circle. Is he even a center? He lost 9 faceoffs, and guess how many he won? Well, he won 0 faceoffs... Anyways, this time he got 2 shots on net and still neither of them found the back of the net. Once again he played more than half a period, infact he played 75% of a full period. Almost 10 minutes on the powerplay again and no points, the Aces' powerplay has really not been able to capitalize. - Game 4 - Philadelphia VS Las Vegas - Again, the Aces' team didn't do too shabby... They lost 5 to 1 while Hawley's stats looked like this: 0G 0A 0P -1 0PIM 0S 1H 0SB 5/11FO 14:03MP 3:50PP 0:00PK Today the big 6'3'' BossNian got a hit, while still being under 500 in the faceoff circle. He played almost the same amount as last game, with only 4 minutes of powerplay time this time. - Game 5 - Minnesota VS Las Vegas - The Aces lost once again... A 4 to 1 loss. This time the game on it's own was actually really tight, but the Aces just weren't able to finish on the chances. Shots were only 25-21 for the Storm. Hawley's stats: 0G 0A 0P +/-0 0PIM 3S 1H 0SB 7/11FO 11:21MP 2:16PP 0:00PK Probably the best stats so far for him with 3 good shots, one hit and an over 500 faceoff percentage! Now he was a +/-0 also, so not on the minus side if things. Though he only played about half a period and 2 minutes on the powerplay. His best game so far for sure! - Game 6 - San Diego VS Las Vegas - This game the Aces managed to lose once again and it was another 4 to 1 loss. Hawley's stats: 0G 0A 0P +/-0 0PIM 0S 1H 0SB 0/0FO 11:21MP 3:25PP 0:00PK To this game on Hawley's stats you might be able to see something weird? Yes, he was changed to a winger due to poor faceoff circle work. Other than that he played decently with 1 big hit and exactly the same amount of ice time than last game, but 3 and a half minutes of powerplay time. - Game 7 - Yukon VS Las Vegas - Game 7 Hawley and the Aces! This game... They actually managed to win! A 3 to 2 win for the Aces! Hawley's stats: 0G 0A 0P +/-0 0PIM 2S 0H 0SB 0/0FO 8:42MP 1:30PP 0:00PK His team did well and he didn't? I mean he had 2 shots as a wonger once again and played just under half a period and 1 and a half minutes of powerplay. One of his better games so far! - Game 8 - Houston VS Las Vegas - This game was good once again! The Aces won 4 to 3 in overtime and just like Hawley said in the interview, I think it just takes time to get the chemistry going and now that's already decent. 0G 0A 0P -1 0PIM 1S 0H 0SB 0/0FO 10:55MP 1:50PP 0:00PK Well, he was on the minus side and also he obly got one shot. So while his team is obviously doing pretty good, he himself can't seem to get going - But he will soon! You agree, right?
  11. Name: Xander "Sandy" Hawley Age: 17 Position: Center Height: 6'3'' Weight: 205 lbs Date of Birth: 24th May 2002 Place of Birth: Trebinje, Bosnia and Herzegovina Nationality: Bosnian/Canadian Xander's family Xander has 4 siblings, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. His oldest sibling being Hamza, (25 years old) youngest being Lamija (13 years old) and the other two being Amija (15 years old) and Emir. (17 years old) His mother is Petra (47 years old) and father is David (49 years old) Xander's Life The twins Xander and Emir were born on the 24th of May 2002 to a poor family in Trebinje with one child, Hamza aged 8 years old. Their mother, Petra didn't have a job, but their dad, David worked as a mechanic and was a hard hockey fan from Canada. David wanted his sons to become hockey players, but only if they wanted to be hockey players aswell. Petra was very strict and didn't realy know if she wanted his sons to play hockey or not. Infact she didn't really care, as she was from Bosnia, which isn't a huge country at any sport. She always wanted her children to be safe and as she knew, that hockey was a dangerous sport, she didn't really want them to play hockey. Hamza had played hockey for 2 years at this time and he was never really too good at the sport. At an age of 8 Xander and Emir were able to start playing hockey, as their family was poor, like I said before and finally got the money for it. Both Xander and Edin were interested on it, especially with their brother Hamza had just quit hockey a few years back, and 14 years old, they wanted to be the stars of hockey. They started playing for a team called the Trebinje Mačke. (Trebinje Cats) They both put up good numbers with Xander having 12+15 for 27 points in 32 games and Emir having 9+17 for 26 points in 34 games. The next year Xander was named the captain, while Emir got the A. That year Xander got 26+34 for 60 points in just 39 games and Emir got 17+19 for 36 points. And just by those numbers you could see, that Xander was a bit better than Emir at that age already. Edin later decided, that hockey wasn't the sport for him, and so he left the Trebinje Cats. The next few years saw Xander post a total of 112 goals and 105 assists for an incredible 217 points in just 122 games! (32+32, 35+30 and 45+43) At this time Emir decided to come back to stay with his hockey dream! As Emir came back to play hockey Xander got more motivation as he had always liked to compete with his brother and the next year saw a big, big injury with Xander, him getting hit by a player from the back, he went flying to the boards head first and he just didn't move. At this point the first player to come to him was obviously his brother, Emir. He immediately called in David and the team management and Xander was headed to the hospital. Later it was found out, that Xander had got a mild concussion, and at that age (13) it would be critical, and it had Xander be out for the entire season. So in that season he was able to play 13 games and in those 13 games he got 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points and he was also still the Captain of the Trebinje Cats. His brother played a total of 27 games on the year (He didn't play all of the games due to Xander being injured) and in those games he got 4 goals and 7 assists for 11 points. Xander went through alot of pain, his family being there for him as he was going through hard times. Xander put the skates on for the first time in 7 months as he was trying to get back to playing hockey. And at around these times Xander's family decided to move to Canada and it saw Hawley go play in Quebec, on a higher level, as Hawley was just getting back to hockey it was hard for him to play good again. But he became the normal Hawley again after only putting up 2 goals and 1 assist in 13 games as he got 23 goals and 14 assists for 37 points in the next 30 games. His brother got 6 goals and 7 assists for 13 points in 39 games. He also got the nickname "Sandy" by his teammates. Who knows why... The next season saw Hawley posting 57 goals and 31 assists for 88 points in just 37 games and after that several GMs of the VHLM teams were interested about Hawley, and he decided to sign with the Las Vegas Aces. So far in 8 games in the VHLM Hawley's got 0 goals and 0 assists and a +/- of -4, but hey, he still has time, am I right? -- Anyways this was the story of Xander "Sandy" Hawley! --
  12. The conversation was there just to get those 500 words
  13. Name: Xander "Sandy" Hawley Age: 17 Height: 6'3'' Weight: 205 lb. Hometown: Trebinje, Bosnia and Herzegovina Nationality: Bosnian/Canadian Pros: 1: Scoring Hawley can be talked about as a true goal scorer. That's not how it has always been. Hawley has a Canadian father, but was born in Trebinje, Bosnia and as he played hockey over there he had to pass alot more, because then the others would develope more aswell. He was a two-way for a long time over in Bosnia, before his family moved over to Canada when Hawley was 14 years old. Hawley has a really heavy slapshot aswell as a really heavy wristshot. His accuracy has been falling in the last few years. Hawley scored alot of goals in Bosnia and Canada. We'll see if he can translate this scoring ability at higher levels. 2: Skating Hawley has always been good at skating. He was able to get past the other players in Bosnia with just a few moves of his feet. He could get to a breakaway from his own zone easily. Everything felt easy until he started to play in Canada. Over there he was still better at skating than the others, but he wasn't as good over there, than he was in Bosnia, as the players were better in Canada. 3: Strength Hawley has alot of strength, though he doesn't use it very often. It isn't easy for people to get him to fall by hitting, and his hits are really hard, but he has space to improve as far as hitting goes. His strength is incredible and as a good skater he has to have that, to be fast and another thing you need strength for, is for really hard shots, and Hawley for sure has that aswell. Cons: 1: Fighting Just because Hawley is willing to drop the gloves to defend himself or a teammate, doesn’t mean he’s good at fighting. Infact he sucks at fighting. He has a real big interest to actually fight, but he isn't good at it, so he doesn't drop the gloves as often as he wants to. He loves to play physical and fight, but he really needs to develope the skill of fighting and defending himself. 2: Injuries Hawley has had a real problem with injuries in the past, as he was injured for and entire year (Mild concussion) at ages 13-14. His skills dropped at that point alot aswell, which obviously isn't good. He gets injured way too easily, and you definitely don't want to have that if you want to be a real professional hockey player. 3: Leadership Hawley has never really liked to be a leader or liked to be in the spotlight and he doesn't like to get interviewed either. So leadership is a skill Hawley is really lacking, and you don't want to see that. He really needs to get used to all of this, if he wants to really succeed. Summary: Hawley is a fast, offensive-minded forward who can be really physical at times and is willing to defend his teammates, even through the fact, that he's not good at fighting. He really needs to get better at his leadership abilities and he is very injury prone.
