Malmo, it was more then an absolute pleasure! Without this organization who knows if I would’ve gotten a cup, and a handful of awards to go along with it. This team has given me a real shot at possibly getting into the HOF. It’s sad to say goodbye, but I look forward to the short future Brendan has left in Riga! A huge thanks to @animal74 for being the perfect tag team of skill, scoring, grit, and hitting. I think a huge part of our was how diverse our team was. Big thanks to @hylands for drafting me to Malmo and believing in me. One last thanks to @Dom for coming in and believing our group, and giving the can some real nice kicks before choosing a different pathway for the team. I really hope this trade brings prosperity to Malmo in the future! @hedgehog337 I look forward to chatting in the discord and getting to know all the guys, and plan to give it my all till the end!

With the off-season now underway, a couple of deals have already been made official. It started with Davos and Toronto. Davos sent 3 3rd round picks to Toronto in a decent small-medium sized trade for goaler Boris Tsezar. Tsezar has improved every year stats wise with his recent best season of .913 SV% and a 3.11 GAA in the VHLE. I think Davos did well to not give up any 2nds or 1sts for a potential future starter. The second trade was between Calgary and Helsinki. It was a blockbuster trade, as Calgary sent Nasherov back to Helsinki in a reuniting, as well as Jokinen. 2 big name players. Helsinki gave up a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, depth veteran Sanderson, and prospect Chicoine. With these 2 trades already done on the first day, it should kickstart a flurry of moves for the coming days. And that will mean lots to talk about in press conferences, articles, and even media spots.

It has been about 2.5 years and almost 2 full players since joining the league back in the fall of 2019. It is without further ado that I would like to announce that Nate Telker Jr will be a goaler. This won’t take place till Brendan Telker’s 8th season is finished. There is a possibility Dom could shop Telker near the peak end of his prime for a solid package. But there’s no guarantees of course, and rumours are just rumours. Telker is looking to bounce back after having a pretty flat season offensively. The new Meta will make things interesting as many players are still trying to find that perfect build for themselves. Nate Telker Jr will likely spend a season in the VHLE, as he plans to spend a couple seasons to grow and get up to speed, which will help him get a better boost during his VHL rookie year.

The Nighthawks ended up on the wrong side of a very close series between Moscow. Both teams were pretty evenly matched on paper, and it took all 5 games with overtime in game 5 to finally seal the deal for the Menace. Moscow will go on to play in the semi final, while Malmo try and keep their heads high going into the off-season. “We played really well. But Moscow we’re stride for stride with us the whole way through, and they earned it.” Said Telker after the OTL in game 5. Malmo still have plenty of good young players to remain competitive next year, with some of their players still wanting another cup before retirement. The main hurdle Dom will face is looking for a new starting goalie, with Tretiak being forever into retirement. Despite that, the Hawks still have lots of hockey left to play with this core group!

The initial answer to this question is, probably, Malmo sit 4th in the EU with 4 games left. Warsaw sit 5th with 5 games left, and Moscow sit 6th with 4 games as well. The big kicker is there is a 2 points separating these 3 teams, so it will be a true battle likely to the final day of sims. Malmo have had a wonkier season then they would have liked, with the young guns shining, while the veterans have seen a fall back in production, despite many veterans still carrying plenty more tpe. It’s been a head scratcher, but that doesn’t take away the fact that Malmo’s young players took over the headlines and scoresheets. It looks like many rounds in the EU have the potential to all be 6-7 games, just with how tight and inconsistent many of the teams have been over the season. Malmo are in as good of shape as they can be, all they can do now is leave it all out on the ice.
-
Things have been looking a little more up for the nighthawks, as they’re on a 6 game winning streak in the middle of the season. Their last game saw them beat HC Davos 7-3 in a great offensive showing by Malmo. The playoff hopes are looking a little better for Malmo now, but Warsaw isn’t far enough in the dust for any fans to be comfortable. Malmo holds the 5th and final playoff spot in the EU, as some teams have really picked up the pace this year. I think a couple of those teams are over performing. Minion has been a beast, and leads the team in scoring. Veterans Deathwalker and Telker continue to “struggle” for their standards, despite both players hovering around a point per game. There’s no guarantees for Malmo getting into the post season, but if they can continue this groove they are on, maybe the cup isn’t out of the cards just yet.

It’s gotten tougher for the Nighthawks who now sit with a record close to .500 at 21-19-1. That’s good enough for the last playoff spot in the EU. While Malmo sit at the higher end of the table when it comes to goals against with just 135, but the goals for has been pretty bad as Malmo sit 3rd last when it comes to scoring goals. Malmos quote on quote ‘second line’ has turned on the jets when it comes to scoring. Minion leads the team with 64 points in 41 games, while Mourning is right behind with 57. Deathwalker and Telker have been struggling to find the back of the net on a consistent basis, and the shocking thing is there is no real reason for it. They are in their prime, playing all kinds of minutes around a pretty stacked team overall. Dom has been playing all his cards right for success in my eyes, maybe it’s now come down to Malmo needing a bit more luck.
-
It’s been a rougher start to the season then expected, as Malmo currently sit 4th in the EU, and 7th in the league. Minion has been dominant, and leads the nighthawks in scoring with 36 points through 26 games. Mourning is second with 32 points, while Deathwalker is third with 30 points. The EU is looking like it could be a heavyweight battle, that probably sees a really good team or 2 end up out by the end of the 4th vs 5th battle. Malmo are doing everything they can to keep up with the rest of the EU, but this season looks especially challenging now. If you manage to make it out of the EU, you’ll likely see Vancouver on the other side. Some of the veterans on the nighthawks have been struggling to get into a really good groove. A line change isn’t warranted yet, but if the next few games aren’t so great, then the GM may have to shuffle the puzzle a bit. Malmo have a great team, they just need to find a way to make it all work.

It’s been another good start for the Nighthawks who have now developed a reputation of being a contender for a while now. 7-3 is a good enough record for them to sit first in the EU. The NA conference has Vancouver and Toronto both off to very good starts of their own. Malmo haven’t won their games as traditionally as before. With many low scoring games. Malmo don’t even have 3 goals per game on average. But it’s been the defense that has really shined early for the hawks, with just a 2.4 GAA as a team so far. Tretiak sits on top of the league for SV% and GAA categories for starting goalers. Malmo will want to ramp up their scoring a bit, while also maintaining this great start on the defensive side of things. Malmo are up against HC Davos and Moscow for their next 2 opponents, and both of those teams should put up a good fight.

Malmo have seen no shortage of turnover on the roster this off-season, and with all of the defencemen leaving, it was in need of a complete overhaul. Malmo picked up Peepants in a trade first, then grabbed Reikkinen from free agency. Their last play saw them pick up Mclaren in a smaller trade for a 2nd round pick. There’s been an unfortunate lack of players across the league in general, with teams having to dip their toes into players that are probably more suited for the vhle. Based on all that, I think the Malmo team did well to navigate this off-season, and piece together a contending roster for yet another season. Hylands reign may become more distant with each passing day, but his legacy is far from over as many of the offensive core have stuck around to create an attractive place to come play for many players. This should be another exciting season for Malmo fans.

It’s been another great year as a Nighthawk for me. My team has really rallied to have a successful era of winning that doesn’t show signs of stopping just yet. With the current roster. Malmo may have 2 more good seasons left of playoff action, if not more. With my life getting busier in general, many have probably noticed I’m on the sidelines when it comes to media spots. I plan be on welfare for a while with myself wanting to get into an AGM role in the next couple seasons or so. I don’t think this will impact Telker’s chances at getting into the hall of fame all that much, if there even is a solid chance. I look forward to seeing the final starting day roster as I have little doubt that our gm is done making moves. We are probably in need of another d man or 2 I would guess. That’s all for now, for anyone reading, cheers!

It was a tough fought battle that saw Malmo on the unfortunate end of defeat. Moscow won the series 4-2 and that was probably the least amount of games that many people were predicting this to play out. Malmo saw themselves even through 4 games with a 2-2 series draw. But it was Moscow who grabbed the reigns and eventually went on to lose to Vancouver in the finals. Telker talked to the media after game 6 against Moscow. “I think we did about as well as we could have. It could’ve been different. But this year there were lots of good teams. Top 4 is never a shame. I hope we can compete again next year.” Said Telker. And that is probably what Malmo will have a chance to do this off-season. With many more bodies moving. We can retool and stay contenders next year with the right moves I believe. I’ll get in a media spot next week to dive into it a lot more. This week got unpredictable and busy. So I elected for the 5 welfare.

Malmo has a tough series ahead as they split with Moscow 1-1 today. The Nighthawks kicked off the series with a big 5-2 win, that saw 5 of their players with multi point nights. Moscow pounced back with a 4-2 win in game 2, which is unsurprising considering how close many pundits have this series. Brendan Telker spoke with the media after game 2. “There as good of a team as any in the league, it’s gonna be a battle to the end. I hope we can make the push to the finals this year.” Telker has 10 points in 6 post season games. Kristoff Welch leads the team with 11 points in the playoffs. Meanwhile in the NA conference, Calgary is off to a surprising 2-0 lead on the league leaders of the regular season, the Vancouver Wolves. This could be good news for whoever comes out of the east. But then again, if someone can beat Vancouver in a best of 7, then there gonna be tough regardless.

Malmo cruise to post season with 1st place EU finish
Telkster posted a topic in Archived Media Spots
Intro Its been another great year for the Nighthawks who have clinched the post season for the 5th straight year, which is an achievement that @Dom should be very happy with. However this was no easy grabbing of the reigns. Malmo needed a core shakeup in the offseason for a number of reasons, whether is was the cap, players retiring, players leaving, or just an upgrade that was needed. The Nighthawks had a small rough start to the year going 0-5-0. The rest of the year for them after was a bit of history in the making, as they finished the year off with a 52-18-2 record. The only team to finish higher was the Vancouver Wolves with a borderline insane record of 58-12-2. Now personally I am no stats and records expert, but Malmo was very close to getting every single skater a point per game or more. Just how close exactly? Give Kevin Wu 3 more points, and the Nighthawks would have achieved this. Despite Vancouver having a better record, and scoring 60 more times then the Hawks this year. Even they couldn't come quite as close to doing it then the Nighthawks did. It really is a thing of awe and beauty if you look at the player stats of this years Nighthawks, and I think it shows just how much of a team effort it was this year. Stellar Production It starts with Telker, who was 3 points shy of having a personal best season with 121 points. Mourning came into this year like a man on a mission with 107 points for this 3rd year winger. That smashes his previous season of just 34 points. Welch was acquired in the offseason, and I'm sure dom is already getting a tattoo for that trade titled "no ragrets". Welch lead the blueline in scoring with 106 points. Eso also came in with a trade during the offseason, and probably played a 1st line role for most of the year. things clicked nicely and he ended up with a career high 98 points. I remember in a previous article saying that Deathwalker could see a points increase this year, due to the shake up in offense and more core players needing to step up. Druss did this to a T, getting a season best 88 points, all well beating his personal best for hits at the same time. Minion came in as a more seasoned rookie then most. Despite this, expectations were nowhere near what he did this year with 87 points in his rookie year. Sosa has been probably the most consistent player for Malmo in the past few years, and despite playing a more secondary type role this year, He put up 86 points which is very close to a career best. Kaberle had his second best year points wise, with 77 for Scotty's retirement year. Wu has been a faithful Malmo player for years. and despite no longer upgrading since way back in september, his "ghost" still represented him well with a career high 69 points. Thunder was the newest addition to the team just before the halfway point to the season. He had 58 points in just 46 games, but if you add up the first few games with Riga that he had, it's a career high points season for Matt Thunder. Tretiak had a solid year of 43-18-2, while holding a .917 SV%. Carson was one of the stories of the year for Malmo as a backup. He went 9-0-0 with a .915 SV%. and a 2.36 GAA which is nuts considering how high the scoring was this season. Thats it for this week hawks! sorry for the big pause inbetween media spots, but the free tpe was too tempting to take the past few weeks. Can't wait to battle alongside you all this playoffs!! players mentioned: @animal74 @TMGSosa @Minion @Eso @scoop @fromtheinside @Juice @kevinscix @Matt thunder @jacobcarson877 @Molholt About 600 ish words -

Game recaps for S80 Bratislava Watchmen (Part 3)
Telkster replied to FrostBeard's topic in Archived Media Spots
Review: This is a nice little series of recaps that sees the Watchmen go 7-1 over 8 games. The bolded game titles helped clearly define what paragraph was for which game. I would maybe add a space between the end of each paragraph and the start of each game title, but that’s getting a bit picky at that point. You guys are first in the league and look to be the main powerhouse heading into the post season. 9/10 -
Review: This is a great media spot on the legion that are on the come up trail. I like the way you hashed out how New York could come back into the picture to make the playoff race interesting. I personally think Toronto will still be okay as long as they play a decent record down this stretch. Nothing too fancy picture or colour related, but it’s very nicely written! 9/10

Malmo headed into the Christmas break with a pretty good streak going that sees them in 3rd place in the league, and second in the EU. It starts with a strong offensive core that has Telker up to 104 points with 13 games to go. Welch leads the defence in points with 88 so far, which is also on pace for his second best season. Mournings breakout season continues to be jam packed with points as he sits at 88. Eso has already passed his seasons personal best at 83 points, and Deathwalker is 3 points away from passing his best ever season in points as well. Tretiak has been playing okay, but isn’t consistently top 5 in the goaler stats. It’s been a tough year on goalers in general, as nearly every team has 200+ GA at just the 60 game mark. Malmo will hope to keep this up for the rest of the year, and heading into the playoffs as well.
