Toronto Legion Press Conference (2 TPE for answering all six questions) 1. We're 4-5-1 on the season with 9 points, sitting in 6th place in the division. Is this a slow start that will balance out as we move forward, or something that is concerning? 2. The colder weather is starting to come, what is your favourite hot beverage to feel all warm and toasty? 3. Who is the biggest surprise team so far early in the VHL season? 4. What is your comfort tv show to watch? 5. Are you a believer in importance of process or results? Ex. We outshot DC 59-32 and lost 4-3, should we be worried about the loss result, or should we be encouraged that we outshot them so handily and were unlucky to lose? 6. What is your favourite breakfast to eat? -

Toronto Legion S95 Team Awards Hello, and welcome to the awards ceremony for last season's Legion team! It was a great season for the Legion, one that ended in heartbreak in Game 7 of the Continental Cup Finals. It was also the final season in blue and white for Mac Atlas and Jimi Jaks, ending the tenure of two of the longest serving members of the team. This marked the second season in a row that the Legion almost sent franchise icons out on top, following Joel Castle's retirement after the Game 6 loss in the Continental Cup in S94. Here is a look back at a list of the Legion players who finished in the Top 10 in statistical categories in the VHL: Goals: Harry Callahan (4th), Diego Machado (t-7th) Assists: Bobby Bob (10th) Points: Harry Callahan (5th) Shots: Harry Callahan (2nd) Defense Points: Bobby Bob (8th) Rookie Points: Andrew Skilton (10th) Penalty Minutes: Andrew Skilton (5th) Powerplay Goals: Harry Callahan (6th) Shorthanded Goals: Harry Callahan (t-1st), Diego Machado (t-5th) Hat Tricks: Diego Machado (t-2nd) Wins: Toddly Bobbly (4th) Save Percentage: Toddly Bobbly (7th) Goals Against Average: Toddly Bobbly (t-7th) Shutouts: Toddly Bobbly (t-1st) Here are the Legion statistical leaders, and their totals: Goals: Harry Callahan 50 Assists: Bobby Bob 65 Points: Harry Callahan 105 +/-: Diego Machado +38 PIM: Andrew Skilton 211 Hits: Andrew Skilton 210 Shots: Harry Callahan 566 Shots Blocked: Andrew Skilton 148 PPG: Harry Callahan 13 SHG: Harry Callahan 3 GWG: Callahan/Machado/Atlas 7 Wins: Toddly Bobbly 41 GAA: Toddly Bobbly 2.47 SV%: Toddly Bobbly .922 SO: Toddly Bobbly 6 Onto the awards we go! Most Valuable Player #88 Harry Callahan @dstevensonjr The team leader in multiple statistical categories, veteran forward Harry Callahan received a nomination for VHL MVP as well. It was a career high in goals and points for Callahan, helping propel the Legion to a solid playoff spot. This is Callahan's first Legion MVP award. Others receiving votes: Toddly Bobbly Best Defender #24 Bobby Bob @Baby Boomer Continuing to lead the Legion in points by defenders for the fifth consecutive season, it was a no-brainer decision for Bobby Bob to win this award. An elite defender for the Legion, Bob is the top option at even strength, on the power play, and on the penalty kill. That all-situations versatility and value provided to Toronto is a large part of the reason that Bob was named team captain this past off-season. This is the fifth consecutive season for Bobby Bob winning the Best Defender award for the Legion. Others receiving votes: Andrew Skilton Unsung Hero #71 Diego Machado @Dadam30 An ever consistent contributor for the Legion, Diego Machado has been a vital player in Toronto for multiple seasons now. Monster offensive seasons that have perhaps been overshadowed by teammates should not take away from how good Machado has been. As voted by teammates, it is clear that his contributions and efforts have been noticed for the team, even though the league award group may not have. Machado just barely missed out on a third consecutive 100 point season, and will be counted on to continue that offensive dominance this season. This is Machado's second consecutive Unsung Hero award. Others receiving votes: Jimi Jaks, Andrew Skilton, Toddly Bobbly Most Gentlemanly #21 Walter Fitzroy Jr. @Moon Pulling double duty for the Legion as both a defender and the teams General Manager, it takes a certain kind of suaveness to pull it off as well as Walter Fitzroy Jr. does. On the ice, Fitzroy Jr. handles hard defensive minutes without piling up the penalty minutes season after season, and has been a key part of the Legion defensive work in their own zone. Off the ice, Moon continues to foster a positive environment in the locker room and in the front office. There's a reason why so many players have been recently committed to playing their entire VHL careers in Toronto, and it starts at the top of the organization. This is Fitzroy Jr.'s first Most Gentlemanly award. Others receiving votes: Bobby Bob, Toddly Bobbly, Harry Callahan, Diego Machado, Kyle Toms Most Energetic #88 Harry Callahan @dstevensonjr From daily chat to posting box scores, Harry Callahan has been among the most active members of the Legion locker room. This is Callahan's fifth consecutive Most Energetic award. Others receiving votes: Diego Machado, Walter Fitzroy Jr., Andrew Skilton, Mac Atlas Rookie of the Year #45 Andrew Skilton @ace_five_ Coming into the VHL as a rookie defender is a difficult task, where there's nowhere to hide with protected minutes on the ice. It's a testament to Andrew Skilton's hard work that he was capable of not only handling those minutes, but by actually thriving on the ice. In his first season in the VHL, Skilton managed to cross the 50 point barrier, and remained on the plus side of the plus/minus all season long. Skilton's physicality led to him leading the Legion in hits, shot blocks, and penalty minutes as a rookie, adding sandpaper on the back end that the Legion were in desperate need of. He will be trusted to take a further step this season as a future anchor of the Legion blueline corps. Top Prospect #4 Dorji Khan @Oddpurplefly Dorji Khan spent the final season of the VHLE lighting the league on fire offensively, racking up 99 points for the Bratislava Watchmen. The Legion S94 2nd round pick (22nd overall) has already jumped to the 16th highest TPE in his draft class, and with the hard work that he has put in so far, that will only continue to climb. It didn't take long for Khan to make his way up to the VHL roster, joining the Legion team this season and contributing a goal very early on in the season. Re-upping with the Legion before this season ensures that Khan will be a big part of the next wave of offensive talent in Toronto. Legionary of the Year #88 Harry Callahan @dstevensonjr After a solid season on and off the ice, Harry Callahan wins the Legionary of the Year vote for the fifth consecutive season. It's an honour bestowed on him by his teammates that is not taken for granted. Others receiving votes: Mac Atlas Three Stars Award #88 Harry Callahan @dstevensonjr Player 1st 2nd 3rd Star Points Total Stars Harry Callahan 9 5 6 430 20 Diego Machado 5 6 10 370 21 Toddly Bobbly 9 3 3 360 15 Jimi Jaks 6 6 3 330 15 Mac Atlas 6 6 3 330 15 Kyle Toms 2 4 0 140 6 Bobby Bob 1 4 2 130 7 Walter Fitzroy Jr. 1 3 3 120 7 Gul Dukat 0 0 4 40 4 Andrew Skilton 0 1 2 40 3 Wayne Shotzky 0 0 1 10 1 This was a close battle at the top of the board between 5 players right up until the last couple weeks of the season. Diego Machado led the team in total stars, edging Callahan out by one. Both members of the Legion S89 draft class, it's fitting that they remain close together on the top of the list. It speaks to the contributions of the group that five different players had more than 15 total stars on the season. It all added up to a special regular season in Toronto in S95. That's all for the awards, thank you for reading this far!

Toronto Legion Press Conference (2 TPE for answering all six questions) 1. What number does your player wear, and why did you pick it? 2. If you could take 2 characters from any movie and team them up for a film, who would they be? 3. If VHL 96 was a video game, who would be the cover athlete? 4. Have you played NHL 25? If so, what are your thoughts? If not, what was the last NHL game that you played? 5. What is the best event that the team could put on to encourage team bonding? 6. What is your favourite restaurant to eat at? -
Toronto Legion Captains S96 Edition For the first time since S89, the Toronto Legion will not be captained by Mac Atlas. The captain of the team for seven seasons, it will be impossible to fully replace what he meant to the Legion organization, but this is the group that has the experience to take the mantle and lead the team to another hopefully successful season. Assistant Captains #74 Diego Machado @Dadam30 Season number six in the VHL for Diego Machado, who has been a leader coming into his own for multiple seasons now. Machado has been an integral part of the team on the ice, consistently in the mix to lead the team in goal and point scoring. His leadership off the ice has also been strong, as evidenced by his multiple seasons as General Manager of the VHLM's Saskatoon Wild. This will be Machado's first season wearing a letter for the Legion, and it is an honour that has been long overdue. #88 Harry Callahan @dstevensonjr It's also the sixth VHL season for Harry Callahan, and will be his fifth in a row wearing an "A" for the Legion. Callahan led the team in goals and points last season, and will hope to continue being a trusted leader for the team on and off the ice. Captain #24 Bobby Bob @Baby Boomer An eighth and final season for Bobby Bob in the VHL, all of his seven previous seasons have come with the Legion. Bob has been the scoring leader on the blueline for the past five seasons, and has been wearing an "A" for the team since S93. Bobby Bob has been the General Manager of the VHL's London United since last season, following up a twelve season run as General Manager of the VHLE's Rome Gladiators. That leadership will be on full display, as Bob was both the logical and obvious choice to become the first new captain for the Legion since S89. Bob will be trusted to guide this group through another season of hopeful contention before his retirement following the season.

Lit the league on fire on a bad team playing first line minutes, and then went to a team who stuffed them on the 2nd line playing a defensive strategy. Can't punish a player because their initial team only had 4 human players all season, especially since they didn't finish there. In the end, I'm supporting our player for their great year -

Toronto Legion Press Conference (2 TPE for answering all six questions) 1. Alright, let's get it out of the way. For a second season in a row, we made it to the Continental Cup Final and lost. Should we be proud of back to back finals appearances, or does the missed opportunity sting too much? 2. What is your favourite meal to cook? 3. What's your focus for attributes to work on this off-season? 4. Did you see The Batman, and are you/will you be watching The Penguin? 5. The end of S95 sees us say goodbye to two franchise icons, Mac Atlas and Jimi Jaks. How do we go about filling the huge holes that those two leave in our lineup for this season? 6. Give me a quote from a movie or tv show that always makes you chuckle. -
Oh, I understand the reason for what we're doing, no worries. That part wasn't meant as a criticism at all, just an acknowledgment that people seemed to have this odd hate for it that I didn't understand.

As a relatively newer member who is still on my first player, I only got one crack at playing in the VHLE. For that simple reason, the Bratislava Watchmen will always have a special feel for me since it will likely be the only team in the E that I ever play for (unless it makes a return some day). Playing for the Watchmen in S90 was great, and we ended up making the playoffs before losing to Rome in 7 games in the semi-finals. The better part of being with the Brats in S90 was in the room though, as the team had a lot of fun off the ice together. Going over daily sim results in the room was great. Competing with each other on Puckdoku and Wordle was even better. Playing for a GM who is as invested in the team and the games as I am is such a blessing, and having Rory run everything in Bratislava with a high level of passion is amazing. 2 seasons after I went up to the VHL, the Brats won the Renaissance Cup, rewarding Rory and the team with a title that was well deserved. I remember when my time ended in the VHLE, I wondered why it was that the league had this reputation for a step that everyone should skip on their way up to the VHL. Maybe others weren't as fortunate as I was to enjoy their time in the league. All I know is that it was a bunch of fun, and there are good people who will be out of management positions for the time being with the league getting dropped.

Toronto Legion Press Conference (2 TPE for answering all six questions) 1. Game 6 of our series against Chicago is today (as of writing). On the road for game 6, do you think that there's a difference in the online sim between home ice advantage and playing on the road? 2. What's your ideal birthday cake? 3. We've got 5 players averaging better than a point per game in the playoffs so far. Has the balanced scoring been the key to our success up to this point? 4. Only 5 teams in the NFL are undefeated so far this season, everybody else has a loss. Only 3 teams are winless. Is this parity that we're seeing, or chaos so far? 5. With the loss of the VHLE this coming off-season, what's your favourite season that you've played in the E for any of your players? 6. Is October the best month on the calendar for sports? -

Toronto Legion Press Conference (2 TPE for answering all six questions) 1. The playoffs are here, and we open ours with a series against the Seattle Bears! The Bears played us well in the regular season, why did we struggle against them, and how do we rectify those issues in the playoffs? 2. What is your go to snack when watching sports? (Either at the venue or at home, dealer's choice.) 3. How do you feel that your regular season went? Is there anything specific that you're pleased with or disappointed by? 4. What band are you vibing right now? 5. Which team do you think comes out of the ultra-competitive European Conference to make the Continental Cup Finals? 6. Do you believe in the 5 second rule, or is food done when it touches the ground? (This question was inspired by me dropping a piece of chocolate on the ground while writing this list.) -
A1) Yep, it's tough. Gotta find time to unwind to try and let everything recharge, but it gets harder and harder at times. A2) Definitely mystery, I've always enjoyed spy novels and thrillers. A3) A quality saxophone solo is just the best. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Q1) Do you have a particular type of item that you collect? (i.e. Funko Pops, Coins, Stamps, etc.) Q2) What is a drink that you could have on a daily basis and never tire of? Q3) How are the upcoming playoffs looking like for your player?

The Toronto Legion wrapped up the regular season at 48-19-5 with 101 points, good enough to finish first in the North American Conference by 6 points and fourth in the VHL behind Moscow, Malmo, and Riga. The Legion finished with a +57 goal differential, fifth best in the VHL, along with the seventh most shots for and fifth fewest shots against in the league. With a regular season less dominant than last season, it's looking like a tougher task to make it where they want to go this season. The Legion will face the winner of the Seattle Bears/Calgary Wranglers series (Bears currently lead 2-0), and both teams would present a tough matchup for Toronto. Seattle in particular looks like a challenge, as Toronto struggled during the regular season against them. The other series in the NA Conference features Vancouver and Chicago. In the final season for Captain Mac Atlas and Jimi Jaks, the Legion will look to do the thing that they couldn't do for Joel Castle last season and send their franchise players off into retirement as Champions. The trip to get back to the Continental Cup Final looks tougher than last season for the Legion, especially following up a year where the Legion littered the VHL Top 10 stats sheet with a season that saw very few league-wide standout performances. In the end, the playoffs for the Legion will come down to how well they can defend in their own end to limit chances against, and how the big forwards perform up front to add timely scoring. If the Legion want to go all the way this year, it's going to take a full team effort to get the job done without being disappointed at the end.
