The issue isn't whether it's manageable or not, the issue is why are we doing this? Like I said in my post, if it's for competitiveness reasons, we've had 10 different teams win the last 11 Cups. Nobody has been stacking teams that are constantly keeping others out of Championships. If we had the same 2 teams win the last 5 Cups, I'd agree that we have an issue that needs to be addressed. In the last 10 seasons, 75% of the league has been to the Cup Finals. That certainly doesn't seem like a reason to be lowering the Cap for parity reasons.

Teams will be forced to stay specifically at the salary bracket price for players rather than be able to go above, plus they won't be able to give out bonuses that could have before with a lowered cap. I know that it's uncommon for players to receive contracts above minimum now, but it does still happen. The decreases ensure that no teams will likely be able to afford that possibility.

Congratulations to v.2!! The Reign are definitely in great hands!

I voiced my concerns in the Discord thread, and I'll voice them here too. If these changes are being made in the name of parity, I'd suggest that 10 different Cup winners in 11 years shows that league parity is just fine. If the changes are being made because too many teams are selling off all of their players in the name of adding a ton of draft picks, put a cap on draft picks similar to what the VHLM has. Punishing teams who try to maximize the use of their cap space each season to reward the teams who are essentially tanking to add more picks is the wrong approach in my opinion. We don't have a competitiveness problem in the VHL.

Toronto Legion Press Conference (2 TPE for answering all six questions) 1. With a flurry of movement so far in the VHL, which team do you think has improved the most? 2. Who are your favourite male and female singers? 3. If you were to re-design the Legion brand, what colour set would you use? 4. You've just created a new nation! What's the first law that you're passing? 5. If you're not on your first player, what is the most success you've had in the VHL with one player? If you're still on your first, which season has been your most successful so far? 6. What is your favourite animated show? -

Toronto Legion Press Conference (2 TPE for answering all six questions) 1. Do you detest snow with a white hot passion? 2. What are your thoughts on the 4 Nations Cup so far? 3. What would be something cool that the league could add to do on the forum for fun? 4. Are you a liberal ketchup user, or do you prefer a different condiment more? 5. What attribute does Simon need to add to the player build? My vote is for Water Bottle Filling skill. 6. Which kind of M&M's are your favourite? Personally, I prefer the peanut butter ones. 7. But seriously, do you detest snow with a white hot passion? -

Everybody who broke the rules has to give their 1st round pick to Toronto. In Riga's case, they have to give their spot in the Finals. -
It's been a hell of a ride. 7 seasons of fun with the Legion.

Toronto Legion Press Conference (2 TPE for answering all six questions) 1. After a first round in the North American Conference where the lower seed won both series, how do we avoid the same thing continuing into the Conference Finals against Seattle? 2. Diego Machado is leading the VHL in goals and points for players who have only played one series. Was he our runaway MVP in the first round against Calgary? 3. Long weekend coming up in parts of Canada this weekend. If you had your choice, would you rather plan a long weekend getaway, or use the extra day to relax and recharge? 4. What was the biggest surprise in the first round of the VHL playoffs? 5. What are you spending your TPE on right now? 6. Did you partake in any Super Bowl festivities this past weekend? If so, what did you do? (and more importantly, what did you eat?). If not, did you do anything else that was fun? -
I traded all of my draft picks away Also, I don't start scouting until after the playoffs anyways.

S96-S97 Fredrik Elmebeck Memorial Trophy Nominations
dstevensonjr replied to Victor's topic in League Voting
Well, this is amazing! Thank you to the folks who nominated me!! -
It's been 703 days since Harry Callahan officially became a member of the VHL family. 154 VHLM games, 79 VHLE games, and 571 VHL games later, plus multiple off-season and international tournament games, the end is rapidly approaching for Callahan. With a playoff series against Calgary looming, there is a minimum of 4 games and a maximum of 21 games left for the player who has only known 3 homes in the league. It's bittersweet to have the ending coming, with a career that has wildly exceeded my expectations, both in terms of success on the ice and joy and fun off of the ice. This league is such a great place, filled with so many amazing people who make it an awesome place to hang out. Getting to know some folks that I've been teammates with, as well as those that I've interacted with in other team Discords and the league chats has been such a blast. The ending of a career is a great time to reflect back on the last two years, both in the league and in real life. I couldn't possibly imagine Harry Callahan ending up where he has. I can remember looking at the players that were in the league when I first created, trying to build a player based on the forwards who were leading the VHL in scoring at the time that I joined. Seeing the TPE totals that players like John Jameson, Nico Pearce, and Ronan Lavelle had at the time when they were near the top of the league in points, it felt incredibly daunting to ever be in a position to end up in their TPE neighbourhood. Being able to end up just behind them on the all-time TPE list isn't something that I thought was even possible, and it has only happened because lots of folks here have made it fun to continue staying active in the league. I've also been fortunate to end up on a team that has been competitive for close to a decade's worth of seasons, which also made it easier to stay active and focus on improving because it never felt like I was just clicking and doing tasks for nothing. The team that Moon built in Toronto from a competitive standpoint, as well as a members standpoint is something that really deserves much more credit than he has received in the league. Him not winning a GM of the Year trophy is borderline criminal, and he should be acknowledged for the feat that it was. Being able to be part of that group has made it feel like none of this has been work at all. With all of that said, just because the end is coming doesn't mean that it's here yet. There is plenty of time for further reflection after the end comes, and hopefully it comes with the poetic ending of being able to bookend a career with Continental Cups with the Legion. While I don't want to fully think about how weird it will be to not have Callahan to update every week, it's impossible to not feel the feelings that come with the fact that this is going to be one of the final weeks to do tasks and submit updates for the only player that I've known in the league. It's been fun, and you only get one 1st Gen player in this league. I appreciate that it's been as special as it has.

Toronto Legion Press Conference (2 TPE for answering all six questions) 1. The playoffs are here! As we wait for the wild card round to play out so that we can begin our series against Calgary, what should we be focusing on to beat the Wranglers? 2. Dalkr Vidarsson finished the season with the 2nd most shutouts, 4th best goals against average (among starters), and 4th best save percentage (among starters) in the league. Toddly Bobbly ran a perfect regular season (9-0-0), finishing with the second lowest goals against average in the league. How great has our goaltending been this season? 3. Which are the better Cheetos in your opinion, puffs or crunchy? 4. How do you feel about your own players regular season production, and what are you hoping for in the playoffs? 5. Diego Machado and Harry Callahan wrap up their final regular season as career-long Legion players, landing in the top 5 of several statistical categories on the Legion all-time list. What have they meant to the Legion, and what can they do for a finale in these playoffs before retirement? 6. What do you do to unwind at the end of a tough day? -
Love this! Go Legion!!
