  1. Toronto Legion Announce S94 Captains and Assistants It's that time of year again, time to introduce the leadership group that will represent Toronto on the quest to win the Continental Cup! Team voting has been conducted, and here are the results of that vote: Assistant Captains #24 Bobby Bob @Baby Boomer For the second season in a row, Bob will wear an 'A' for the Legion. This should come as no surprise, as Bob has been the leader on the back end of this team for multiple seasons now. Entering his sixth season in the VHL, the blueliner re-signed in the off-season to commit to Toronto for the long haul. Bob will be a great mentor and example for the young defenders to come through Toronto for years. #74 Joel Castle @animal74 Joel Castle returns to wearing an 'A', and it's no shock seeing why. Entering his eighth and final season in the VHL, all of which have come in Toronto, Castle continues to be a franchise legend both on and off the ice. His leadership and mentoring capabilities are immeasurable for the Legion, and it will be bittersweet to see his retirement at the end of this season. #88 Harry Callahan @dstevensonjr Callahan wears an 'A' for the Legion for the third straight season, a sign that his teammates trust the fourth year pro to continue to grow into a leadership role in Toronto. Callahan has made the jump to a consistent point producer on the ice, and joined the Toronto front office as Assistant General Manager this past off-season. Captain #22 Mac Atlas @v.2 Was there ever any doubt? For the sixth consecutive season, it will be Captain Mac wearing the 'C' for the Legion. A unanimous choice in the voting, it is no surprise that the eighth year pro is the leader that everybody will look to again to set an example for this team. As Atlas moves up the all-time ranks of Legion skater statistics, he will look to add to his already sterling resume this season. Thank you for reading. Go Legion!!
  2. Callahan and Machado flying under the radar with a combined 206 points last season for Toronto. Gonna have to up that number to get that respect Go Legion!
  3. I'm so proud of all the members of Saskatoon that were nominated or won awards! That includes everybody with the Founder's Cup win! Everybody played their part and contributed to the Championship, and I will always be grateful for that. Thank you Lucy for doing a wonderful job hosting!
  4. Toronto Legion Press Conference (2 TPE for answering all six questions) 1. Regular season week is here! How excited are you for S94 to begin? 2. What goals are you setting for your player this season? 3. How has your spring been so far? Any big plans for the summer? 4. Who on the team are you most looking forward to playing with this season? 5. Where do you have us finishing in the North American Conference this season? 6. Are you currently streaming/watching a show? If so, what show is it?
  5. I think that it's important to set goals for each season, but I struggle with which kinds of goals to set. It's definitely tempting to set statistical goals, especially when comparing against previous seasons and the need to try and set new career highs. The only issue with that is that statistical production is prone to impact from outside forces, namely other teams and their ability to stop people from scoring. With that concern in mind, I think that it's better to aim for improvements related to TPE, as well as specific attributes. Setting a goal to hit a certain TPE level by the end of the season is more practical, as well as fully in your control. I'm starting this season with the following goals in mind: 1. Reach 1300 TPE by the rollover from S94 to S95. - I'm currently at 1149 TPE, so it would require gaining 151 TPE between now and the end of S94, which should be roughly around mid-July. Ways to ensure that this happens is hitting the 13 TPE a week (12 capped plus practice facility) that is doable, plus adding the uncapped TPE package that was purchased to give an additional 4 TPE for five weeks, and making sure to hit doubles week and all of the fantasy zones throughout the season. 2. Set a career high in one of the G.A.P. categories. - I know that I said statistical goals were not controllable, but I'd still like to top one of my career bests in the Goals, Assists, and Points categories. My bet is that it will be in the goal scoring category, as my player has been plagued by horrible shooting luck (6.84% and 6.13% the last two seasons after shooting 8.92% my first season) recently, and I hope is primed for a goal scoring breakout. The shots have definitely come, especially last season with 526. Being 8th in shots in the league while finishing with the 120th best shooting percentage is something that I hope bounces back. 3. Help create a more active Locker Room for Toronto. - I've been fortunate to be a part of some very active locker rooms in Saskatoon as an AGM and in Bratislava as a player. My time in Toronto has definitely been enjoyable so far, and the room isn't exactly a deserted place, but I'd like to bring some things that I've learned and seen in my previous stops to continue to make the locker room a place that players, prospects, and anyone else in the organization can enjoy themselves and have fun on a day to day basis. 4. Improve specific attributes - With all that TPE from point 1, it has to go somewhere, right? I'd like to get my PH and DF ratings up to a 94, get my ST rating up to the max 99, and get my SC rating up to 90. I've got a mapped out plan to get to those levels, just have to stick with it for the season. That's everything for this season! I'll try to remember to check back at the end of the season to see how they've all turned out! Don't forget to set your own goals for this season!
  6. 1. I'm hoping to take the next step offensively this season and try to challenge for the top 5 in points in the VHL. It was good to take a big jump forward last season in points, I'd like to continue that momentum. 2. Thank you for your time here, it's never easy trading somebody off of a team that doesn't experience a lot of change. Good luck in Moscow this season, they're getting a great player and person. 3. Much like I just mentioned, we're not really a group that goes through a ton of change. We've added both of you for a reason, and look forward to you being a part of this group for multiple seasons! Let's go win a Championship together! 4. I enjoy doing the VHFL each season, it's cool to have something else to follow during the season than just the regular standings and stuff. This is the first season that I've put my name forward to be a group leader for it as well, so hopefully that goes through! 5. This feels like a tough series to predict, especially with both teams coming off a bit of a rest between each series. I think the Rangers might actually have a shot at breaking the President's Trophy curse this season, so give me them in 7. 6. I don't want to short change the talent that the Oilers have, but this series doesn't feel quite as difficult to predict as the East series in my opinion. The only problem for the Stars might be that they're going to have the long layoff in between their last series and this one, while the Oilers are still in their rhythm. I'll take the Stars in 6 for this series.
  7. Happy to get this deal done with @Alex, thank you for the trade talks. Very excited to add @Enraged to the Legion room!
  8. Thank you to @Spartan for getting this done! Welcome to the Legion @Viper, looking forward to having you on the team! A big thanks to @pugsood, it was awesome having you be a part of the Legion group over the last two seasons, and great seeing your player break out offensively last season. Good luck in Moscow, they're getting a good one!
  9. I am grateful for this opportunity to continue working in Toronto! Thank you to @Moon for allowing me the chance to prove myself in the VHL, as well as @animal74 and @v.2 for helping get to this point. All of you have been in this league far longer than I have, and it's great to have your knowledge to learn from. I also want to thank @Dadam30 for the training in Saskatoon last season, that experience was invaluable. Now, let's all go win another Cup together!
  10. Halfway There A look back and forward at the midway point of Harry Callahan's VHL career It's been a fun and enjoyable journey in the VHL so far as I begin my fourth season in the big league, and my seventh overall. I've now been a part of the VHL for more than a year (started in March of 2023), and I only feel my joy for the league growing. Harry Callahan joined the Toronto Legion in S91, and had both the blessing and the curse of winning a Continental Cup in his first season. It was such a blessing to win right off the hop because there are players who aren't lucky or fortunate enough to win a Cup over their entire career, and Callahan got to experience that as a rookie pitching in on an established contender. Winning that Cup was a dream, but it also came with the curse of trying to chase that dream without realization over the following two seasons. It was a mixed bag of success in S92 and S93, with S92 seeing a weaker regular season and stronger postseason, and S93 seeing a fairly dominant regular season followed by a colossal disappointment of a postseason. Callahan has grown from a smaller support contributor in his rookie season to a solid member of the core, one who held a slight edge to lead the team in scoring in S93. Entering this upcoming season, the Legion are still in position to be a team that can compete for a title. Callahan has had the good fortune of becoming a leader in the Legion locker room, having worn an 'A' for the past two seasons. The hope over the final four seasons of his career is to continue to be a leader in the room that is looked at to set an example for the team, as well as attempt to reach the summit of the VHL again and be a multi-Cup winning Champion before retirement. Continuing to grow in the statistics department is a priority for Callahan as well, having made the jump to the top 10 in the VHL in points last season. Entering what will be a prime season for Callahan, he has designs on challenging for the league lead in points this season. Off the ice, Callahan has entered the management side of the game. Following a Founder's Cup title as an Assistant GM for the Saskatoon Wild last season, Callahan will make the move to become a player and Assistant General Manager for the Toronto Legion this season in hopes of helping in all ways possible to continue to improve the Legion organization.
  11. 1. Probably Seattle, just a hunch. 2. I think that we should be trying to stay competitive every season. We have the luxury of having a lot of very high TPE players, and it would be a waste to not push to win with them. 3. I had the unique spot of not really being able to earn TPE at the end of the season with the salary bracket, so I dialled it back for a week or two. Back in the saddle again, and it's go time for the off-season grind! 4. That's the million dollar question, isn't it? How to fit all the puzzle pieces together in a way that works for everybody and keeps us competitive this season. 5. Yep! Draft interviews have gone out, the responses so far have been fun to read. Looking forward to adding new members to the Legion family. 6. Ugh, how long do you have? Knew that Keefe was going to be the fall guy for the Shanascam, although he somehow escapes any consequence for his decade of relative failure. I think that it's beyond time to move on from Marner this off-season, but getting him to waive his NMC will be difficult and probably results in a lesser return in a trade. At this point just trade him to get his money off the cap and get him to a market that he can handle. Otherwise, I'm sure there will be tinkering, but not much large change.

  13. Definitely a good job to apply for, go help defend a title in Saskatoon!
  14. Wow, it's pretty cool to even receive a vote for this!!
  15. Saskatoon Wild Press Conference - Week Ending May 5 A new week, and new questions from the media to answer! Here are your questions for this week: 1. After a tough start to our series against Mississauga, we're now up 2-0 on Halifax in the Semi-Finals. What has gone right for us so far, and what do we have to continue to do to win this series? 2. Have you been as disappointed in the first round of the NHL playoffs as I have? 1 sweep, 6 series at 3-1, and 1 series at 2-1 so far doesn't scream the type of drama that I love in the playoffs. 3. How do you get out of a scoring slump when you're in one? 4. You're trapped in a locked room for a week, and can bring one movie in with you to watch. What movie are you picking? 5. This is likely the last or second last Press Conference of the season with the playoffs winding down. I always try and split my questions between team/VHL content and random personal questions, and I'd like to know which your preference is. What types of questions over this season have been your favourite? 6. As the season winds to a close, and most of you will take the next step in your careers to the VHLE or VHL next season, what has been your favourite part of playing for the Saskatoon Wild this season?
  16. Saskatoon Wild Press Conference - Week Ending April 28 A new week, and new questions from the media to answer! Here are your questions for this week: 1. The end of the regular season is here! How do you feel about your performance this season? 2. Which team do we have to keep our eye on in the playoffs? 3. Which series has been the best in the NHL playoffs so far? 4. Describe your perfect date. 5. What is the most important thing that a team needs to have success on a deep playoff run? 6. Why is it that the second movie in a trilogy usually ends up being the best one?
  17. It's been a phenomenally successful breakout season for Diego Machado this year with the Toronto Legion, one that has helped propel the Legion to the top of the Conference and League with just 6 games to go. Machado had been a solid contributor for Toronto in his first two seasons, the first of which was the Continental Cup year. In that season, Machado had 18 goals and 32 assists for 50 points, a solid contribution for a rookie in the VHL (he finished 7th in rookie scoring that season). Into his sophomore year, he sought to be a bigger contributor to the offense in Toronto, and achieved just that. He finished his second season with 25 goals and 37 assists for 62 points, establishing a new career high in all three categories. Year over year, Machado saw a 39% increase in goal scoring, a 16% increase in assists, and a 24% increase in points. Those were all solid gains, but paled in comparison to the huge jump that followed. Diego Machado seeked to take on a larger role in the offense this season in Toronto, and has managed to do so successfully in all areas. With 6 games left to play, he has already eclipsed those career highs wildly, sitting at 42 goals and 53 assists for 95 points. With the season incomplete, he stands to continue to add to those massive numbers before it ends. From last season's career bests, he has already seen a 68% increase in goal scoring, 43% increase in assists, and a 53% increase in points. All of those statistical jumps should have him well in consideration for the Dustin Funk Trophy for Most Improved Player in the VHL this season, and it would be an honour well earned.
  18. Welcome to the league, Samsayz I-Smell!
