  1. 1) I posted up the first Mock Draft for the Season 64 Draft, of the players who were not predicted to be selected in the first two rounds, which player do you think has the most chance of moving up into being selected in the top two rounds when the next Mock Draft is done? I might be biased because teammate, but I think Edvin is going to be a great player for whoever takes him and will be lucky when he slips a little 2) The TPE milestone required to automatically be promoted to the VHL for the following season is 200 TPE. i) (If you're below 200 TPE) How long do you think it will take you to reach that milestone? I really don't have a good grasp yet as to how fast I'm getting points, but I'd say it'd be a little over another full season 3) The World Juniors rosters were announced last week, which team do you think will be the favourite to win the tournament? Team Canada, I like the way that their roster is built the best, I think they will go the furthest. 4) We're getting close to the week of the Mid-Season PT week, where if you submit a PT that fits the theme, you will earn substantially more TPE. Last season's theme was covering other members players, what theme would you like to see for this seasons PT? To be honest I think that should be a running theme, I think it's great to actively look into other players as it helps you learn other players you might not have known before and think about something other than your own player 5) From your time in the league, if you could give any advice to a new member entering the league, what would it be? Don't be afraid to ask for help, there's a ton of knowledgeable people ready and willing to help you out, otherwise you'll fall behind fast and get overwhelmed. 6) We have a one off VHL All-Star game every season that uses the NHL series as a sim engine and is live-streamed. Would you be interested in seeing a similar game done for the VHLM and what do you think your chances would be of making a VHLM All-Star roster? Yes of course, that'd be awesome!

  3. As it has been said many times throughout the course of history, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." For Kyson Blake of the Saskatoon Wild, he really didn't have that. As he arrived to the wild he was the new guy on the block with most of his teammates being around the league for a bit, so while they were all welcoming and helpful for him to get settled in, there really wasn't anyone in the same boat as him to kind of push him in a competitive friendly manor. Enter Anton Edvin another S64 VHL draftee and most importantly another winger. As soon as Edvin came to the Wild and started practicing it became pretty clear that these two had a bit of a rivalry going on trying to one up each other. At first I wasn't sure if there was animosity towards one another as they are part of the same future draft class and play basically the same position, but later it was confirmed to me that no, instead they both are actually just pushing each other in a friendly teammate type way that will hopefully see benefits to both of them. It'll be interesting to see how these two grow as teammates and could possible be a future force out on the ice for the Wild.

  6. 1) I'll be doing my first Mock Draft for the Season 64 Draft this coming week. Based on the VHL season so far, which team do you think will hold the first overall pick in that draft? HC Davos, it's pretty much expected that they'll be holding that pick just because they can't seem to stop this backwards momentum. 2) There's been a lot of VHLM trades happening recently, are you surprised by how many trades there have been this early in the season? Kind of yeah, I've never really been in a league where the minors teams are the ones doing so many trades outside of the first couple seasons 3) About a third of the way through the season, who would you say has been the VHLM's MVP? Nathan McKinnon. He's been on a whole other level than everyone else it seems. Hard to stop him and few do. 4) Which other VHLM player would you consider to be your closest rival? haha I'm not too great so I'm not really sure I'd say I really have a rival. Maybe a close friendly rivalry with Edvin 5) Play the role of GM of your team, who is the one player on another VHLM franchise that you try to bring in? Pretty much any defender, I'm not sure any which defender in particular as most any would do because we're not very defensive minded so adding any kind of defense would be great. 6) How do you feel about your current TPE levels? Not too good, I feel like I've missed out on a bunch, but have no real idea how I've been doing. I feel disappointed in myself so far.
  7. The Beginning Kyson Blake was born to two hard working parents in a Bavarian themed town that knew little to nothing about hockey. Not only did the town he lived in not have a hockey team, but there wasn't any teams near where he lived growing up. To top that all off his parents weren't really hockey people either. So basically from the beginning, Blake was destined to have nothing to do with hockey. Growing up he barely watched any hockey on TV and instead his sport of choice was soccer. Soccer was a huge sport growing up in the Pacific Northwest. In fact in many areas it was THE major sport. By the time he got to middle school, Blake had also picked up baseball to play in the soccer offseason, but soccer was still his main sport and he was starting to be groomed for it, as he had been selected to join the city's select soccer team. This meant that now Blake was going to be on a travel team and could start to be seen by people with connections in the sport. This seemed like the ideal path for him to possibly making a go of it in the future as a professional athlete. A New Team Comes to Town Then as Kyson was in the middle of his 8th grade year a wrench would be thrown into each and every plan he had made for his future at this point. The $52.8M stadium that a nearby city had built was not only up and running and fully functional, but they had also secured a junior hockey team. With this being the first somewhat professional team that had been anywhere near where Kyson lived he was super excited about it. His father on the other hand kind of dismissed it as he wasn't that into hockey and figured they wouldn't be too worth watching. Once the Wild, now a kind of ironically named team when considering Blake's future, started their first season though Kyson was able to convince his dad to take him to the opening night game. Not knowing what to expect never being to a hockey game, Blake was pumped but confused. The hockey itself wasn't that great, but the did end up getting into a ton of fights, which made Blake's dad get into it, and Kyson enjoyed himself enough to feel like he wanted to play this sport. Blake finished out his 8th grade year going to every Wild game he could, but still longed to play as there still was no rec league or anything like it for him to join. He would play the occasional pickup game with some friends in the street, but overall there just wasn't enough players to play. Finally in the break in the school year it was announced that the stadium, realizing it actually was a sinkhole and the Wild themselves weren't going to be able to fund the stadium, announced they were going to open not only a rec league, but also develop a traveling team. Straight away he went to his dad and begged him to sign him up for the rec league. Despite reservations his dad signed him up and now the beginning of the rest of his life had begun. At first Blake had a rough go of it as he really didn't know how to skate, but despite that, when he found stability he was able to start hitting the puck at the net, just about his favorite thing in the world. As Kyson started high school and his first rec league season came to a close, he started to slack off a bit, or well more like a kid being a kid. His dad had a sit down with him though and told him straight how it was. He told Kyson that he needed to practice even when season wasn't in if he wanted to join the travel team and if he wanted to go far in the sport. He explained that this didn't mean that he couldn't hang out with friends and stuff, but he needed to make it a high priority with his time. Kyson agreed and spent a ton of time working on his skating and standing a ways away from an empty net trying to place the puck in every square inch of it. When it came time for the next season he tried out for the travel team, unfortunately he didn't make it. This was a crushing blow to him as he knew he was better than some of the other players that made it, but in a small town like this sometimes politics come into play. Nevertheless, he needed to show them that they made the wrong decision. In the preseason scrimmage between his team and the travel team, Blake would go out there and score 5 goals barely into the 3rd period. The coaches, feeling a bit embarrassed told Kyson to sit and never let him off the bench, he didn't care much as he got his on that day. Next Level Kyson's second rec league season would be a major success as he'd lead the league in points and goals scored and be named the league MVP. What made it even better to him was that after the awards ceremony the travel team's coaches pulled him aside and apologized telling him that maybe they made a mistake and that they'd love to see him on the team next season. Of course that was more kind words than anything as he still needed to try out, but now Blake was full of more confidence that I think he could have asked for. He continued to work on his game over the following offseason to prepare for the upcoming tryout and by now his dad was also out there helping him out as much as he could. Now being in his junior year of high school and filling out more of his body, he would easily make the travel team and along the way start to get noticed, but not really enough to get excited about. Then senior year came and Blake dang near looked like a man physically despite his childish looking face. He was now a captain on the travel team and the pulse of the team. Kyson's ability would be on display each and every game and as the travel team moved up in division for this final year they started traveling to Canada to play teams. The Decision Now the buzz surrounding him was starting to get loud and teams were actually approaching his coach about him. His coaches advised him to get representation, which they did. Soon offers actually started coming in, not only from his agent, but also from colleges in his mail. Now was the real decision time, but it was hard. Did he want to go off to the east coast and go to a college? Did he want to join a small semi pro hockey league? Did he want to join the Wild? The answer to that last question actually ended up being yes, but it wasn't the Wild close to his home, instead it was the Saskatoon wild of the VHLM and his career as a professional hockey player would soon be underway.
  8. Age: 18 Position: LW Height: 6'3" Weight: 183 lbs. Birthplace: Leavenworth, WA Team: Saskatoon Wild (VHLM) Weaknesses Scoring Kyson has always been a shoot first look to pass third type player and a lot of that comes from the fact that he developed a powerful shot from an early age. Once his coaches started to notice that they basically told him to shoot whenever he even got near the net, even if there wasn't even an opening because who knows what could happen when the puck nears the net. He took those words to heart and from then it's kind of been his main focus when on the ice. Of course it also helped that he was able to regularly find the back of the net, validating his game play. Sometimes he shrugs off his teammates pleas for the pass, but at the end of the day he figures as long as the puck reaches the back of the net he's going to do what he does. Puck Handling Once Blake figured out that he could get the puck into the back of the net with ease, the next facet of his game that he took major focus of was puck handling. This was one thing that ended up taking his game to the next level as he now didn't actually need his teammates to pass him the puck, but rather he was able to skate in between defenders and create his own openings and scoring opportunities. There have been times that Blake has actually taken the puck from his own net and skated all the way down the ice ignoring teammates along the way in what would be easy pass opportunities in order to make a difficult path to the net just to show how well he handles the puck. Skating So once he had his shot and his puck handling squared away there was only one logical thing to work on and that was his skating, because of course skating between defenders is fun, but other times he just wanted to blow right by them. Blake got all the coaching tips he could from anyone he could, even the internet, in order to increase his skate speed and once he was able to start developing this it was then that other people outside of his city and state started to take notice of his game. This is also where his background in soccer helped out a ton because of the strength already in his lower body.. This is probably the most raw of all his strengths, but it's the one that will end up helping him make the most strides. Weaknesses Passing As noted before, Blake is probably the worst passer anyone has ever seen, not only in his willingness to pass, but also his ability to pass the puck to his teammates. For whatever reason despite having a powerful shot, the attempts he does attempt to make to teammates often are some of the weakest hit pucks that could be hit, probably as a result of him neglecting to spend any time trying to improve on this aspect of his game. He figures why bother. Discipline This is also another aspect of Blake's game where he struggles mightily. He's got a pretty short fuse and can seemingly go off the rail at the slightest thing and this often results in him seeing the penalty box. If he feels like an opposing player has done him wrong he'll hunt that player down at every opportunity and he also isn't afraid to do the dirty work for his teammates. Of course this basically eliminates every great aspect of his game when he does get taken off the ice because it does nothing for them and only hurts them Fighting So you'd probably figure a guy with a temper and likes to start crap with other players would actually be good at fighting right? Well no, it's quite the opposite. Most times Kyson tries to smother his teammate and just get them to the ground and lay on top of them and hope the refs break it up before the other guy actually gets too many punches on him. It's quite comical really, but I guess it's that classic tough guy persona. Definitely don't bet on Blake to win many if any fights throughout his career.

  11. I think that the hardest thing I've had to cope with so far being such a new player to the VHL is to manage my expectations. Of course we all want to come out and just put up a ton of great stats and do all we can, but the thing that's hard to remember sometimes is that it takes time. You could say I've been a little frustrated to this point with how I've played individually when given my chances. I was super excited when I got my first point, an assist in our fifth game of the season for a Burnt Toast goal, but overall it's been few and far between. I've always been an offensive type forward from the time I can remember and that's probably what's been frustrating me the most, the fact that my shot percentage is so low. I keep taking my shots when I got them because that's what I do and what coaches know I'm capable of and expect from me, but things just haven't been clicking. In the meantime I've kind of been doing some of the dirty work, scrapping it up a bit with opponents and hoping it sparks another teammate to have a good night. Right now it's all about doing what I can to help out.

  14. The rush of being a new player in the VHL is something I'm not sure I could even describe. It all went by so fast, declaring myself as an eligible player, talking to a couple teams, signing my very first ever contract, getting to a new city, etc. It all was like a whirlwind with so many things to do I was constantly moving and could barely catch my breathe it felt like. I knew there would be time for that later, once things settled in it would start to slow down a bit. I got into Saskatoon and had no idea what to expect as I'd only ever been to Canada a handful of times. I met a few of my new teammates and then helped me settle in a bit. I got some of my things unloaded, but for the most part they're still in boxes. The first night I didn't socialize much as I wanted actually get some sleep ahead of my first practice as a member of the Wild. When I got to the facilities for my first ever practice with my team, I was shown around the facilities and given some new equipment. I was excited, everything looked amazing and on a whole other level than I'd really experienced before.....plus I love getting new gear. I laced up my skates and it was go time; my career is officially under way.
  15. 1) I'd say myself, but knowing my luck probably not me. I'll randomly pick Brick Wahl 2) I think it's pretty cool, being a software dev it really intrigued me. 3) I actually haven't looked around who all is in here that I know, but right now I still feel pretty lost so anyone who wants to help me 4) Seattle already has a team so since that's the only city I care about anywhere. 5) Sullivan, Axelson, Garrop, Jerwa (no idea) 6) Wasty's top sig in Best of 2k16, that's so sick
