  2. It was a not so cloudy day, clear skies ruled the land. A rarity, in autumn Saskatoon. Three rookies, Jakub Rhinehart, Borje Samuelsson, and Niklas Kurri were out for a Sunday stroll. "I don't really wanna go to practice" said Kurri, "let's go to the casino! I'm not getting paid nearly enough." "Uh...I don't know. We have a big game against Moscow tomorrow. If we win, we can secure top spot in the division." Samuelsson replied. "Oh it won't do us any harm, to go outside for a few hours. Coach won't even be at practice, he won't know. Rhinehart suggested. The three friends decided to go out. First, they stopped by the local bar. Being a small town, Saskatoon really only had one popular bar. These three frequented the venue so much that they were known by all the customers. "HEY! IT'S THE HOCKEY PLAYERS!!" the crowd cheered. The boys drank and drank, until they could not anymore. It was estimated that they spent a total of about $400 of alcohol between the three of them. They were in no shape to be going to a casino that night. However, they carried on. They walked to the town's water hole for gamblers. "Uh, damn. I don't know if this is a good idea now." Kurri hesitated. "It was your idea" Samuelsson snarled, "if anyone's losing money tonight, it's you!" The boys walked in. They played rounds of roulette and blackjack. Eventually, they were holding chips totaling about $7000 altogether. They were ready to check out. After receiving their money, the boys walked out. Unfortunately, they did not notice the people following closely behind them. They knew that the three boys were drunk, so they made a plan to steal their hard earned money. The boys decided to cut through an alley so that if one of them threw up, it wouldn't be in front of many people. Just then, the soon-to-be thieves struck. They grabbed whatever they could find and started beating up the hockey players. The drunk players stood no chance. They lost all their money and were unable to get back home. They spent the night sleeping behind a dumpster. The boys woke up, each, with a splitting headache. They had no recollection of the previous night. "What happened?" Rhinehart asked, "What are we doing here?" Quickly, Kurri replied, "It was probably Borje. That guy's out of control." The two of them looked around, where was Samuelsson? Could he have woken up and left them there overnight? He was nowhere to be seen! They decided to walk back home, maybe Samuelsson had stumbled home. When they got there, they noticed that the door was locked. "No way this drunk fool would have remembered to lock the door last night." Kurri thought. Niklas and Jakub searched the entire house for Borje, but to no avail. Where was he? Suddenly, they remembered their Monday matinee against Moscow. The boys rushed to get dressed and cleaned up. They then raced to the rink. Upon their arrival, they noticed that the team was already almost set to take the ice. Their stalls had been cleared, and the trainer walked up to them, at the door. "The coach wants to talk to you." he said. Kurri and Rhinehart looked at each other. They nervously walked toward the coach's office. When they stepped inside, what they saw frightened them. 3. You say which categories you want to earn points for. Then you take the value of, say your points, divide it by the number it shows ie. /7 if you're a defenceman and that's the amount of TPE you get. You can choose two categories, for a maximum of 20 TPE.

  6. Earlier this week, rising VHLM star Borje Samuelsson was traded from the struggling Moscow Red Wolves to a powerhouse Saskatoon Wild squad. Today, SportsToday's Mike Beaudry caught up with the young man to discuss the trade, his season, and more. Trade Details To Saskatoon D - Borje Samuelsson (48 GP 15 G 62 A 77 P -3 114 PIM 199 H 129 SB) To Moscow D - Light Bokan (47 GP 4 G 40 A 44 P +47 42 PIM 89 H 45 SB) S42 Wild 3rd Round Pick MB: Hi, Borje. How are you doing today? BS: I'm doing well, thanks for having me. MB: What was your reaction upon hearing the trade? BS: Well, I knew I was being traded...so it wasn't a shock whatsoever. The shock was reading my messages and seeing that my GM, at the time, and the GM of the Wild asking me about the possibility of a trade. The Red Wolves weren't very competitive this season, and I had a good chance at going for a Cup run. I jumped on the opportunity right away. MB: You mentioned that the Red Wolves were struggling. Did you enjoy your time there? BS: You know, I have to say I did. The managers were very approachable and easy to get along with. The players were nice as well, and I was able to play in every situation. I was eating a lot of minutes and I was succeeding. I think the management team in Moscow are responsible for my success. MB: Now that you've been traded, you don't hold a leadership role. How do you feel about that? BS: I actually didn't think about that, until a couple hours after the trade was completed. When I was named captain in Moscow, I was really ecstatic. I loved the opportunity. I really hope that, looking back, the managers don't regret their decision to name me the captain for S40. Even though I'm not a leader on the Wild, I hope to be an integral part of the team. MB: Your time in Moscow has gotten you some attention. Tell us, how does it feel to be so highly thought of? BS: Yeah, right before the season I was ranked seventh of all the rookies in the VHLM. Now, I believe I'm ranked fifth. So, I've moved up a bit. I was also named the second best defenceman in the VHLM in the 53rd edition of On The Rise. These accolades are all very validating and motivate me to be better. I'd hate to be known as a bust. I'm hoping a long playoff run here will bring me more attention so that I can be a high pick in this upcoming draft. MB: How do you like the atmosphere on your new team? BS: I really like it. I know Nik Kurri and Jakub Rhinehart, so that really helps with adjusting. MB: We'll e sure to keep an eye on you in the upcoming games. Good luck with your career. BS: Thank you.

  9. SportsNews was able to make the trip out to Moscow to attend the announcement of the S40 Moscow Red Wolves captains. Their general manager steps up to the podium. "Thank you all for coming to this announcement. Today is a very joyous day for Red Wolves fans. We will be announcing our team captains, as you all know. So, without further ado...our first alternate captain is... Vyacheslav Degtyaryov!! Our second alternate captain this season will be... Maris Ziedins!! And finally, the announcement you all came here to hear. He has been active and dedicated. So I'm happy to award him with the honorary title. Wear the C well, young. Samuelsson." And there you go. The new captain of the Red Wolves. We've got mics on the podium, so let's listen in on what the young player has to say. "Hi everyone. It's with a great honor and joy that I accept this title. I've worked my best to be in this position. I've been hit with hard times, especially with a season like last season. But it's the times like this that really validate everything I've done. I'm really happy to be given a chance to lead this team, and I hope I don't disappoint. I wanna thank everyone who's helped me become the player I am, and I hope that I can continue to grow and improve as a player, and bring my skills to the next level." Samuelsson has definitely made strides in his game, and his maturity since his abysmal start to his VHLM career. He has already set career highs in every category. In his twenty three games played, he has an astonishing thirty-one points. Much better than the four he put up last season. We've got the opportunity now to get a quote from the general manager. "Mr. Manager! What can you tell us about Borje Samuelsson?" "He's dedicated, somewhat good, and a diva. That good enough for you?" "It's excellent." Borje Samuelsson walks by the reporter. "Borje! What can you tell us about how you feel?" "I feel like I'm on a cloud. Nothing can bring me down." "Are there any aspects in your game you'd like to improve upon?" "I think I can always improve. You can never be too good, for anything. I've gotta run though, how about we schedule another time to have an actual interview?" "That sounds great, Borje! Best of luck, to you." Samuelsson waves goodbye as he walks away. Well, this was SportsNews reporting, as the Moscow Red Wolves turn the page to a new chapter in their team's history. Thanks for tuning in! Until next time.
