  1. What is your player's plans for the offseason? Maintain my current form and pace. What is your favorite meal from Chick Fil A? No Idea I live in Canada, we don't have Chick Fli A. Do you have any pets? If you don't what would you get and why? Dogs, because they're the best bois. If you could play any other position in the VHL, what would it be? Why? Defence, less pressure to put up big points. What is one thing you would do if you were the GM of the Vancouver Wolves? All in for these 3 next seasons. What team do you like seeing lose? Why? Any philly team, just don't like the teams and fanbase.
  2. PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS With the first two rounds of the playoffs over, it's time for some predictions. \ NA VAN vs CHI These two teams are extremely comparable, although I do believe that VAN has an overall team by a slight margin. Firstly, the forwards. CHI's best forward on paper is Robin Winter, a trade deadline acquisition from the struggling DAV. Since getting to CHI, he has been slightly over the PPG mark and has been a pretty good player for them. VAN's best player purely based on TPA is SS Hornet, Winter's teammate from DAV. Hornet has a similar story to Winter with comparable points and hits since coming to VAN. Of these two, I'd say Hornet is the better player, especially since he's on fire during these playoffs. Behind the top forwards for each team, we have Andrew Su and Christian Mingle. Su has come off of a killer season where he tied 1st for points with 121 but has struggled so far in the playoffs. Mingle also had a huge season for CHI, with 93 points and over 300 hits in the regular season. Like Su, he has also struggled in the playoffs so far. This matchup can go either way, as Su is better as a pure scorer, whereas Mingle can have a large impact even without scoring. It mainly depends on who can get their groove first. After that, I believe VAN has the definite advantage for depth for forwards. For defence, I believe VAN has a better top 2 pairing, but CHI is better in-depth. VAN has both Micah Adrienne and Griff Manzer, two proven defencemen with 77 and 67 points each respectively. They are also decently physical defencemen, both racking up over 150 HITS and 130 SB. CHI on their blue line has Matty Socks and L. Matty Socks this season was on fire with 92 points and 150 HITS and SB. L has had a quiet but solid sophomore campaign with 55 points and over 200 HITS. Unfortunately, L has currently struggled in the playoffs and has yet to notch a point. So far Socks, Manzer and Adriennes' playoff performances have been solid and very similar to one another all having 5 points. CHI also has R and Lucas Brandt who have been consistent depth pieces for them, and I believe slightly outclass the younger Gabriel Akerstrom and Robin Galante Nilsson on VAN. Finally, for what some may consider the most important position in hockey, the goalie. I'd say both team's goalies are comparable. CHI has Jean Pierre Camus, who has had a stellar season so far. In the regular season, he was able to reach the 40 wins mark with an impressive 0.922 SV%. He has also been red hot in the playoffs so far, with only 1 regulation loss and a 0.932 SV%. For VAN, we have Jimmy Spyro who is on his retirement tour. Despite having a less than stellar performance in the regular season with a 0.910 SV%, Spyro has turned up the heat in the playoffs, boasting a stellar 0.939 SV%. Overall I'd say VAN wins this in 7 games, although there are many factors on each team that could affect the outcome. Will both goalies stay red hot? Will the underperformers on each team finally find their groove?
  3. The next matchup in the NA is VAN vs CHI. Both teams came into the playoffs with a first-round bye and are now looking to see who will be crowned the best NA team this season. VAN was able to get by the second round against DC in a quick 5 games, whereas CHI took a bit longer, taking 6 games to beat SEA. Both teams are very comparable right now, with neither looking like the favourite. VAN will be hoping that their recent trade acquisition of SS Hornet will be a major help in this series and for Su to pick up the pace. In this series, we have a pretty interesting matchup of players. More specifically, Robin Winter and SS Hornet. Both were drafted in S72 as picks #1 and #2 to DAV; unfortunately, due to DAV as a whole struggling, they were traded to different teams. It'll be very interesting to see who ends up on top in this matchup.
  4. How did your player do this season? Are you happy with their performance? Yeah considering I tied for 1st in the league for points, I'm pretty excited. What is one job on the forum that you want to take on? Why? No jobs really interest me right now. I'm a bit too busy with school. What is your goal for the offseason? What attributes are you looking to improve on? Just maintain the build I have right now and not regress. We have a couple players retiring this offseason, Griff Manzer and Jimmy Spyro, both of which have played for Vancouver for their entire Career. Say something nice about them. Both are part of the heart and soul of the team. It'll be tough in the future without them. Are you watching WandaVision? If you are, what are your thoughts on the show so far? No Spoilers please. Nope, one of my friends is though, and he thinks its one of the best shows ever made. What is your favorite part of the VHL? Why? The sims, and seeing your player do well. It's just nice to see that your player is contributing to the team.
  5. Definitely had me sweating buckets for a few sims there. Best of luck in the playoffs.
  6. Playing a full season in the VHL is tough and often times is very stressful for the players and coaches involved. The pressure to perform and reach fan expectations is a large load for anyone to carry. Without proper ways to relax and destress, many players can find themselves underperforming. Today we have an exclusive interview with Andrew Su. After winning the cup in S74, Su has constantly been put under pressure to win another, with him leading the team this time. That coupled with 2 consecutive 100 point seasons, with him just missing out on the point leader award by 1 point last season, expectations of him are sky-high this season. So how does one of the best players in the league relax? Interviewer: With the high expectations that fans, the team, and the GM have for you, what do you do to relax? Su: Well, during the regular season and playoffs, I don't really get to relax, as we have games one day after another, but when offseason hits, I love to go somewhere to vacation. Interviewer: Nice, don't we all love a nice trip or getaway to relax our minds. Do you have any places you like visiting for a vacation in particular? Any reasons why they're your favourite spot? Su: That's a tough question honestly, I love being able to travel anywhere. Even the smallest of towns have an interesting history or culture there. My favourite vacation spot was Italy; I went with some friends for around two weeks. The town we stayed in was called Cinque Terre, right along the coastline. It's a beautiful small town, with a lot of personality to it. If you like beaches and ocean-orientated activities, it's a great place to visit. The snorkelling and scuba diving are fantastic there, and with the warm, temperate climate, they have a lot of tropical fish can be seen there that aren't in Vancouver. Personally, I prefer scuba diving as you don't have as many restrictions in terms of where you go, there's also some really fantastic and interesting underwater structures/caves you can explore off the coastline. The seafood there is also sublime; you can imagine how fresh it is with the island being right off the coast. Urban explorers would also love the place. There's a lot of small paths in between buildings and small nooks and crannies you can find there. Interviewer: Wow, sounds great. I might plan to head there for my next vacation. When you retire, you could probably get a job in a travel agency with how well you sold Cinque Terre to me. So with the pandemic that's going on, have you gone to any places recently? Su: Haha, not really. I definitely can't do international vacations now as it's illegal, but I have done a few road trips. The most recent one has been to Whistler for snowboarding. It's really nice and close to Vancouver, and its skiing facilities are also great. Interviewer: Nice. Well, that's all the time we have today, for this show. Thanks for listening in and come listen to us again next time.
  7. Season scoring has been pretty high. Mikko Lahtinen has already reached 100 points, and both Ola Vikingstad and Andrew Su are close on his tail. Multiple other players are close to the 90 point mark, and there are still around 15 games left in the season. The scoring race has gotten tighter. For a while, it looked like Lahtinen would be running away with the top scorer award easily. 30 games in Lahtinen was over 2 points per game and around 10 points ahead of second place. Now there's only a 5 point gap between him and Vikingstad, and Su has played one game less while having 7 points less than Lahtinen. VAN hasn't been looking too good in the past 10-15 games or so. In their last 10, they've gone 5-3-2, which isn't terrible but also far from ideal. It's surprising to see VAN struggling at this point in the year, as they usually are stronger down the second half of the season compared to the first.
  8. The EU has been absolutely killing it this season. The top three teams in the EU conference are also top of the league: the closest NA team; VAN is just a game back of the third-place EU team, Helsinki Titans. If I had to pick a favourite to win the cup this season, I would definitely go with an EU team. It also makes me extremely happy to see that Warsaw is on top of the league. Although I didn't make the logo of Warsaw, AGMing there and seeing most of the players that were there when I was there makes me very happy. If VAN doesn't win the championship this season, Warsaw is my second choice. Currently, my choice for MVP goes to Mikko Lahtinen. Although I really want my player, Su to win Mikko has had an absurd year so far. Su is close though, and might have a chance to overtake Mikko by the end of the season.
  9. 1.) What is your Fav version of our Jersey? Home, Away, a holiday or Charity one? Describe it and why you love it. Charity, always nice to support a good cause and help others. 2.) You discover a beautiful island upon which you may build your own society. You make the rules. What is the first rule you put into place? Treat others the way you want to be treated. 3.) You have been given the opportunity to create the half-hour TV show of your own design. What is it called and what’s the premise? Su's supper, Its a cooking show but the chef doesn't know how to cook. 4.) Name the top five hockey related things to take with you during a zombie outbreak. (Think of things that you would have in your hockey bag, locker or at home) Hockey stick, Helmet, Gloves, Water bootle, Bag 5.) What are things that management can do that makes you feel supported as a player? (what is important to you?) Do PCs every week. 6.) If the Vancouver Wolves was a Hogwarts house what house would we be and why? Sylitherin because we do anything to win.
  10. Vancouver looks like they have what it takes to win it all this season. Currently, they are 1st overall in the standings, not only in the NA but for the entire league. Vancouver has been getting better every season since S73. Mainly due to their young core who's rate of development has been extremely high. With most of their players coming from S73 and S74, most of the VANs roster are now coming into their prime. They also have an impressively balanced roster. Not only do they have star power, but their depth is impressive as well. Almost 8 of their players are at or over a point per game, and Spyro is doing an impressive job backing up the team in the net. VAN also has done a good job on their special teams. Currently, they have the least amount of PIMs in the league and the second-best PK. Now it all comes down to if they can bring it into the playoffs.
  11. It's another Sunday, and that means that it's time for another rush job for getting TPE. Seems like scoring is much higher this season than the last. We already have 5, 40 point scorers, and I think a couple of players can crack 130 points this season. I don't know why this is the case this season, but I'm definitely not complaining as Su is having another killer season. Su is now 4th in all-time scoring for VAN, passing HHH recently! I'm around 120 points away from Jeff Downey, who's leading the franchise. Although I might not reach that this season, I'll still have three more seasons after this one to reach it. The only way that I don't claim the franchise leading spot is if I leave VAN this season. VAN is killing it. Currently, we're first in the league and leading the NA division by 9 points. The only worrying thing is that it seems like in the past two seasons, whoever gets the Victory Cup never wins the championship. Hopefully, we'll end up more like the S73 Seattle Bears than last season's Calgary. Warsaw has also been doing very well this season. I admit I'm a bit proud of them since I was there in its founding season. Very impressive work by Muff on building a team that looks like it can win a cup. A lot of credit has to go to Ajay Krishna, who looks like he'll be one of the best goalies in the future. On the other hand, London has been looking very shaky so far. It's surprising, as you'd assume with a veteran user in Mcwolf and a similar team to what they had last season, London would be doing much better than they are. The only thing I can assume that's dragging them down is their goaltending core. But even with their lack of a solid starting goalie, their defence and offence should be enough to carry their team to more wins. The EU is scary this season. Apart from VAN, who looks like they can be a championship contender, the rest of the NA are mainly middle-top tier teams. The EU, on the other hand, has 3 elite teams that could all pose a serious threat in the playoffs. We see Moscow dominating again, and Helsinki has been doing what they've been doing for the past 4 seasons or so. A big surprise that I already mentioned is the presence of Warsaw. Although, if you look at their team, there's not much to be surprised about. Last season they also did very well, and have a well-balenced team. I saw some discussion about changing the STHS system. Personally, I don't think it's necessary and the primary reason I've seen people want a different engine for is more line customization. I will admit the current STHS has some flaws, but those flaws aren't large enough to warrant an engine change. Also changing to a new engine could cause a whole bunch of new issues. I remember before in the testing of STHS 2.0 or something, teams would be getting blown out of games 10-0 left and right.
  12. 7.) When fans see hockey players they often freak out, who is one of the people you would fan boy/ fan girl / fan person over? ( For example Venus Thightrap, is a huge comic book nerd so meeting someone like Robert Kanigher and Sheldon Moldoff who created Poision Ivy would mean a lot to her. Venus’ name is meant to be a nod to Ivy.) Trent Kaniuga, big indie comic dude. 8.) When was the last time you screamed at the top of your lungs during a game? What were you yelling about? A few years ago, dirty hit from behind got one of my favourite players injured. 9.) When you go home and relaxing is on your mind what room do you go to and what do you do in it to wind down? (Venus is totally into long luxurious bubble baths, it has been said she often turns into a prune while playing her fav Spotify mix as she soaks the stress away of everyday life) Bath and Spotify jams. 10.) Is there anything hanging in your Team Locker that motivates you? A picture of me and my family. 11.) Do you have a pet? If so tell us about your fuzzy or perhaps not so fuzzy friend lol Unfortunately not, but if I did it would be a Shiba. 12.) Which is one that show you cannot watch with anyone? Don't know if movies count, but Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
  13. RIP right after a 91 point season too.
  14. Someone call an ambulance, we got a slaughter in the VHL games thread. The murder victim has been identified as the New York Americans, and the suspect is the Vancouver Wolves. The suspect is still at large and is presumed to be armed with a killer offence. The method of murder is still unknown, but there appear to be 10 puck-shaped holes through NYs goalies. Another season has started off and unfortunatly it'll be Spyros last. He's the mainstay of VANs team and I can't really imagine the LR without him. Can Su actually win an award in his career or will his trophy case be forever empty? Maybe he'll blow his point lead by 1 near the end of the season again. A lot of new faces on the top scorer's boards, its kinda a sad feeling seeing the most well-known players retire while your still alive and kicking.
  15. It's been a long offseason, and now the regular season has finally started! With that, it is time to make way too early award predictions. I have so far boasted an impressive 0% guess rate in 3 seasons, and I will probably continue that statline this season. Now, without further ado, here are my predictions for each award this season. Mike Szatkowski Trophy (Most Points) - Andrew Su Now I may be biased for this award, but Su does have a very good chance of taking home the award this season. Him missing out on the award last season by 1 point has left him hungry, and he'll be gunning for the trophy this season. Su is also still in the prime of his career, and I'd argue that VAN has one of the best offences this season. Perfect to help Su claim this award. He's gotten off to a good start this season, with 24 points in 11 games. Scotty Campbell Trophy (MVP) - Ola Vikingstad MVP will be an extremely competitive rave this season, just like previous ones. Although the points leader usually gets a lot of votes, unless if they have more points by a landslide, a more 2-way player usually wins. I also don't like the idea of giving goalie MVP as they have their own award categories. Vikingstad has not only gotten a blazing start in terms of points (1st in the league), but he has historically been a solid 2-way player, racking over 200 hits in the past 3 seasons. HSK also has a good chance of making it to the playoffs, unlike TOR with Merrick last season. Brett Slobodzian Trophy (Most Outstanding) - Andrew Su or Ola Vikingstad This is the same as the MVP trophy. Unless Su is able to get the most points by a landslide, a high scoring more 2-way player will win this award. Kevin Brooks Trophy (Most Goals) - Kyl Oferson Although there are plenty of other players that could easily grab the award, I think Oferson has the highest chance of doing so. Not only has he been leading the league in goals so far, but he has also proven in the past that his goal-scoring ability is no joke. Despite having a rough goal-scoring year last season, he seems to have bounced back this year. In previous seasons he has also scored totals of 47 and 42 goals. CHI also has a solid support system and players for him to bring home this award. Alexander Beketov Trophy (Most Assists) - Micah Adrienne or Cinnamon Block I picked Adrienne here due to him entering his prime. Not only is he on a VAN team that's packed full of weapons on offence, but he's been steadily improving each year. This season could be his breakout year, and he could surprise a lot of people. Block is actually my second choice here, as he's in the twilight of his career. Despite this being his last season he's on pace to have his best season so far in his career.
  16. G - Jimmy Spyro @fishy Thats that
