  1. Happy Holidays everyone! What a ride it has been, for Su. Starting out your rookie season with only 19 points, as an early second-rounder/projected first-rounder is disappointing, to say the least. Su was starting to look like a total bust, just from his rookie season and there wasn't much hope for his sophomore season. But, somehow he turned it around. Reaching 77 points in his sophomore season, Su became a dependable second-line player, averaging over a point per game. Was it doping or did he simply get good, no one will ever know the answer. But S73 was just the beginning of his ascent. In S74 he scored 100 points, good enough to tie for 9th in the league while playing behind Louth once again. With that, he also notched 44 goals, good enough to tie for 6th place. The cup was also a nice addition to his individual performances. Now in S75, he's currently leading the league in points and 2 assists away from the league leader. Who knows how much further he'll climb.
  2. Wooooo Su is now the points leader! In season 71. Looking back on it, it has been a long ride from where I started. When I first made my player as a first-gen, I had no idea what VHL was or how it worked. Truthfully, I had come on the site a week prior by searching for sports sims and immediately left due to not knowing anything. Fortunately, I decided to come back, and I don't regret it one bit. There were definite highs and lows for myself and the VHL as a whole during this time, but to this day I can say that VHL is an amazing experience. First starting out in the league was super confusing for me since I've never done something like this in the past. Thankfully the community was super helpful and got me on my feet. I still remember being signed to MIS after the season had already ended, thinking I would be playing in some games the next day. The LR of MIS was great, with everyone being incredibly kind in it, and I was super happy that I was subsequently drafted by MIS in the VHLM draft. Both Berocka and DoktorFunk (former GM, AGM) were a huge help in getting me started and actually interested in the league itself. I also remember some great teammates that made the LR tons of fun, such as bacon, JBrew42, LastOneUp, joeg, who are all unfortunately inactive now. Being traded to OTT which was DoktorFunk's new team, halfway through the season and winning the cup with them was also a great experience. Spyro who was AGM for the Lynx was also super welcoming and a great presence in the LR. Then came the VHL draft. I remember the hype building up to the draft, and the hope that I would be picked in the first round like all the mock drafts said I would. But, due to my "intentional tanking," I slipped into the second round and was picked by VAN. Today I have to say that slipping to VAN was one of the best things to happen to me. Not only was Spyro on the team, but both Beaviss and the other players on the team were super welcoming. Unfortunately, most of the younger guys that I played with in my rookie season also went IA. Thankfully since then I've gotten some great teammates on the ice and in the LR. My rookie season was rough, to say the least, with a measly 17 points, it was looking like I would be a bust, and I didn't have high expectations for the future. In S73, the expansion draft came, and I was lucky enough to be signed as Warsaw's AGM by Muff. Preparing for the draft was tiring but very rewarding, as now I get to see the team and players flourish. For the one and a half seasons I was AGM there, I had a blast. Thankfully this time around most of the players are still active. dlamb, KaleebtheMighty, Hooperorama, and everyone else keep doing what you're doing. Unfortunately due to school I got too busy and had to resign from being AGM there, Muff sorry for not being able to fulfill my duties well in the later parts of my stint. From S73 and onwards my player must've started doping since he's been on a tear. One of the most satisfying things in VHL has to be seeing your player improve and tear up the league as time goes on. Winning the cup with VAN last season was also a great memory, and as time goes on I hope to make many more memories with VHL.
  3. Huge Congrats!
  4. 2) Do you feel betrayed by Emi Rune and her actions last week demanding out of Vancouver and with a lot of stipulations for her. Slightly, especially due to the fact that they're also our AGM, but business is business. 10) Are you a user that ever checks in on our teams prospects and the VHLM or are you straight focused on the task at hand in Vancouver and the VHL ? Unless if they were a early first round pick or I know the user, I don't check how our prospects are doing. 7)With the trade deadline looming and the Wolves sitting in the middle of the pack, where do you see the Wolves on trade deadline day, buyers ? sellers ? Keep the roster the way it is? I'd say we either buy or keep the same. We're currently 3rd in the entire league and a back to back championship sounds real nice. 12)How often do you check the VHL portal and league standings ? Whenever someone uses VHL bot in our LR to post the standings. 16)Had you ever heard of Spence King before Beaviss announced the signing ? The name seems familar from when I was playing in the VHLM, I think? 3)The trade is official and Rune is now a Titan and in return came Gabe Akerstrom from HSK, how do you see Rookie defender Akerstrom stepping into how will he fit with the current roster ? I hope he fills in the gap that Emi left. Honestly not too big of a difference in skill between the 2 players.
  5. Wooo raffle baby!
  6. With a little over half of the season is finished, it's time for me to make another terrible guess of who will win the cup this season. So far the NA has overtaken the EU in terms of top teams, unlike the start of the season. Both London and Warsaw who were top teams 10-20 games into the season have started to trend towards the middle of the pack. HSK and CGY are both favourites to make it to the cup finals. If HSK does, hopefully, they win, as losing the finals 3 years in a row is going to be painful. Surprisingly Chicago this season has made it into a wildcard spot and has been playing decently. L is surprisingly playing much better than I expected this season. I don't pay attention to VHLM anymore, but I thought L and R were purely meme players that were inactive. Unfortunately, R is nowhere to be found.
  7. With most S72 players entering their 4th or 3rd year in the VHL, I think it's about time to review each draft pick (at least in the first round) and determine how they have been doing so far. Today it's time for picks 7-12. 7. Jungkok Jungkok is probably one of the best 2-way forwards that was picked in S72. Despite struggling for the first 2 seasons of his career in VAN, after being traded to MAL, he finally started showing his potential. With his aggressive physical play and balanced offensive capability, any team would welcome a talent like Jungkok. With a great last season in S74, with 69 points and over 300 HITS, he has an immense impact anywhere on the ice. 8. Viktor Alexei Kamenov Viktor Alexei Kamenov as 8th OA felt like a reach on draft day. Despite having as much potential as any other prospect picked in the first round, his overall talent on draft day was a bit lower than any other first-rounder and possibly a few second-rounders. Despite a few decent seasons with over 40 points and 140 SB, his performance for a first-rounder could leave more to be desired. He for sure can't be called a bust, or even a bad player, but is currently looking like a 2nd line defenceman will be his ceiling. 9. Lucas Brandt Lucas Brandt was one of the highest touted centers in his draft class and for good reason. In his rookie and sophomore seasons, he had over 60 points in each, almost reaching 70. Showing immense offensive talent, he had the potential to be one of the top scorers in the VHL in the future. It's a shame that he seemed to hit a wall in terms of development at the start of S74. Despite not improving his skills for a few seasons now, he still remains a solid offensive piece and one of the best second-line centers in the league. 10. Valtteri Vaakanainen It's interesting to see that the second-best prospect on the draft day went all the way to 10 OA, due to the GM player draft rule. Definitely the biggest steal on draft day, Valtteri Vaakanainen has had an outstanding career so far. Despite having a terrible rookie season (who didn't in S72) with only 28 points, he quickly improved. So far in the previous 2 seasons, he has had over a PPG, with 74 points and 73 points respectively. He was also a huge factor in the HSK playoff run in both S73 and S74. So far he has had a great career and compared to the S72 draft class, has one of the highest potentials to win a few individual awards and make the HOF. 11. Alex Letang Alex Letang was one of the best defensemen that way drafted in S72. Despite not having huge goal-scoring potential, he has been a consistent quarterback in MOS offence. In his rookie season, he showed this quarterbacking potential with 53 points and 40 assists. He followed that up, by consistently improving and had 79 points and 62 assists in S74. Despite not being a physical defenceman, Alex Letang also is a solid contributor in the defensive zone, with over 100 SB in each season he's played in the VHL. 12. Timothy Brown Ending the first round we have the pick of Timothy Brown. He has been a solid player for a SEA so far and has definitely surpassed some players that were picked in front of them. With 44 points and over 200 hits in his rookie season, Brown has been consistently improving since then. Having a solid balance of both offensive and defensive skill, he is a welcome addition to any forward line. This current season, he looks like he'll be looking to break out.
  8. 1. 1st since you got aim for the top if your want to be the best. 2. Decent, around my expectations, losing 2 major players will affect any team. 3. Get our scoring up. 4. Only voted for spyro, since he led us to a cup last szn. 5. B.C. Sushi Rolls. 6. Faceoffs
  9. Time for the TPE grind late at night. Smoove Moves Groovy Dood What an insane season so far from Groovy Dood. Although his points so far aren't as crazy as previous seasons, 41 points in 24 games are still very impressive. More so if you consider the fact that it's only his 3rd season. Is this a HOF in the making? NA has better teams, but the EU is better balanced overall. In the NA we have 2 top teams by far with CGY and SEA, whereas in the EU almost all the top 5 teams are within a few points of one another. Is the repeat possible? So far it looks like VAN will have to settle for the 3rd, 4th or 5th seed in the NA conference. They've been maintaining where they've been in the standings, but I don't know if it'll be possible for them to topple the powerhouses at #1 and 2.
  10. With most S72 players entering their 4th or 3rd year in the VHL, I think it's about time to review each draft pick (at least in the first round) and determine how they have been doing so far. 1. SS Hornet With the #1 OA draft pick every team dreams of drafting their next franchise cornerstone, one that can lead them to a championship and someone to build around for the next few years. At the very least, they hope for a good player. SS Hornet so far is not on a path to the HOF, but he is certainly a good player at the very least. Coming into the draft, he was the consensus #1 OA pick and for good reason with both a high floor and ceiling. In his rookie season in the dead puck era, he was able to win the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy for rookie of the year. Following up on his early career success, he continued to play well, being a critical part of the DAV S73 playoff team. So far he has played solid, almost reaching a PPG in S74. 2. Robin Winter DAV picked up another good player with their 2nd overall pick in Robin Winter. He, like SS Hornet, has had similar seasons up to now. A notable achievement is that he was able to reach 79 points in S74. He will continue to be an integral part of DAV and will be a piece that they will be building around for another few seasons. Despite his early-season struggles this season, he has all the tools to bring it back on track and be one of the best players in the upcoming seasons. 3. Latrell Mitchell The first defenceman picked in the S72 draft has so far been playing very well. Despite being a PIM machine racking up over 100 PIMs in each of the 3 seasons till now, he has also been a stalwart defender. Recently he was able to get over 160 SB, 150 HITS and 67 points, showing his versatility in both ends. After recently being traded to WAR, perhaps this is the season that he finally breaks out in. 4. Gino DiGiannantonio Here is the first bust of the draft. Despite rapid improvements in his rookie season, in his sophomore season, he started to slow down and lost motivation. Nothing much to say here, he's been traded around a few teams as a depth piece so far. An unfortunate case where a young prospect's potential is wasted. 5. Randy Marsh Despite being a highly-touted prospect and having solid strides in his skills, Marsh seems to have hit a wall in his play. Despite improvements in his technical abilities, it seems that it hasn't translated into the game itself. He had a very respectable sophomore season with over 200 HITS and 100 SB, with 42 points. Unfortunately, since then, he has not reached those numbers again once. If he gets over this slump, he may become one of the best defensive defencemen in the league. 6. General Zod General Zod is what Randy Marsh could've been. Despite having an abysmal rookie season, Zod continued to improve himself and was able to start carving out a name for himself. In S73, he was CGYs quarterback on offence with 66 points and 62 assists. His defence was outstanding also with almost 100 SB and over 200 HITS. The season after that his stats regressed slightly, but he is looking to break out this year.
  11. Jeff Downey, as his team is currently struggling. Stallion hopefully Bring back the old sims and the discord notifications Wins as a team, really want that back 2 back Stallion, been line mates for a long time, great dude Su, never says anything in the team LR

  14. It's a new season, and it's time for more random VHL related thoughts. The expansion teams are finally taking off. At least those in the EU. After two abysmal seasons from the majority of expansion teams, their initial prospects are finally developing. Both London and Warsaw are leading the EU currently and their biggest strength has been their depth. Downey has been struggling. Since he was such a huge part of VAN, even after being traded I've been checking his stats. Although he's been leading Chicago in points this season his 2% shooting percentage has not been great. Unfortuantly he doesn't seem like he'll be able to take home anymore indivual or team awards before his retirement. Seattle looks like they are the team to beat again this season. They must've sacrficed a goat or something to be this elite for this long. No matter how you look at their roster, they are elite in every catagory.
  15. S75 has just started, and it's been a wild start. EU this season looks like the more competitive division this year by far. A big storyline this season is the expansion teams starting to take off, at least those in the EU. When we first had the expansion draft in S73, we saw two main strategies coming from the four expansion teams. London and Warsaw both took the future approach, valuing future picks and young prospects over proven players, and it has finally started working out for them. They are both leading the EU this season, with London in front with 14 points and Warsaw following with 13 points. Something to note is that London also has played the least amount of games with only 9, tied with Chicago and LA. So far it's still too hard to say who will end up making the playoffs in the EU, as all the teams are only 4 points apart. So far, there is only one team in the EU with a below 0.500 win percentage, which is Riga, who's in a rebuild. If I had to guess one team from the EU who would be the favourite to win the cup, it would have to be Warsaw. Compared to my second pick, London, they both have very similar depth, but Warsaw has a much better goalie with Ajay Krishna. In the NA, we have a much larger gap from first to last. One of the reasons for that is the insane start that Seattle has had so far. In 11 games, they have 10 wins, 1 loss, 20 points and a goal differential of +25. They are by far the best team this season and looks like they will continue their rampage for the rest of the season. With 4 forwards all over 700 TPA and 1 over 1000 TPA, their high flying offence is what has been propelling them to the top of the league. Their defence and goalies are nothing to scoff at either, with both being better than average. With their record, they are 8 points ahead of the next NA team, who are at 12 points. VAN, DC, and CGY are all tied for second in the NA with 12 points each, although it is worth noting that CGY has played 1 more game than the other 2. Past the top 4, the rest of the NA has been struggling. Unlike the EU, where both expansion teams are thriving, Chicago and LA have been stuck in the bottom 4 with a respective 8 and 3 points each. To put into perspective how much stronger the EU is overall, the worst team in the EU, Riga, is still better than the 5th place team in the NA, Toronto. I'd say the top four teams in the EU are almost set in stone this season, and Seattle is by far the top team in NA. Overall I'd say that Seattle is the favourite to win the cup. Not only do they have top-end talent but also depth. With that, they aren't lacking in any position.
  16. 1. Venus, they had a solid season last year and can be elite this one. 2. No idea, I only L and R as rookies. 3. Thightrap, pretty active in our LR and solid player. 4. Pull 5. Canucks, boo copyright 6. Spyro, honestly the heart and soul of the team.
