Different leagues, different rules. I understand your concerns but I’m not going to fire or ban a member over something like this. Is it crossing a line, maybe. Is it threatening death on all homosexuals and declaring we need a purge: certainly not. It’s an offhand comment. An ill-advised one and one that shouldn’t be made but I’m not firing anyone over it. Call it what you will but we don’t punish people that severely for that, at least not right now. But yes, I will talk to them and yes we will make it clearer that the behaviour isn’t necessary or warranted. Ultimately it shouldn’t be used and I’m not making excuses for it but the VHL has usual had an “older internet” level of tolerance toward things. Coming in and hanging up on someone because of a single comment isn’t going to change their mind though and we aren’t going to police every comment from every member. If you have a problem report it.

Alright everyone, calm down. There’s no reason to make a huge deal out of this. For too many years now, especially on the internet, gay = dumb has been the mindset. I’m not defending it or saying it’s right but that has been the case. @Josh and @Banackock you guys should realistically recognize this is the case and ideally choose your words more carefully. I get being heated in the moment but your words reflect on your positions in the league. However I will say that having a whole pile of members come in here and pile onto a single comment, I’ll-thought out or otherwise, isn’t really a great look either. Talk to the guy in private or message the mods if you’d like but let’s not make a huge stink out of this because someone made a poor comment and certainly let’s not insinuate he be fired over it. We’re making a huge deal in here out of a small thing. Josh and Bana, do better. @Doc Holliday, @Erik Summers, @Beowoof, and anyone else: don’t make a mountain out of a single comment someone makes when upset. If it bothers you that much bring it up with someone but let’s not get in a giant fight over this.

Really meant to say more in the announcement but didn't because I'm dumb sometimes. To save everyone getting the double tag spam I'll just reply here. Beaviss has been an absolutely amazing member in his relatively short time here and follows in the footsteps of @Will and @JardyB10 who also both became blue rather early in their VHL tenures. He's been a consistently great GM for Quebec / Vancouver, an active member of the BOG, and most importantly a huge driving forced behind a massive resurgence of recruitment in the VHL. As much as I'd love to take all the credit my efforts to save the league from the darkness that was engulfing it a few short years ago would have been completely wasted if not for Beav's massive efforts on the recruitment front to keep the league's stock of young talent up and keep new members coming into the door every day. I only hope his successor in the recruitment crew can do as well of a job as we, the blues, steal him away to the position that quite frankly has been calling his name for a little while now. A small word of note as well. Not that this was a public job posting or anything but please know that other candidates were considered and us choosing Beav is not a mark against anyone else, simply a larger vote of confidence in his favour. Depending if / when Quik comes back this may not be the only blue team change and there will always be opportunities for those that want the chance at a commish spot to step up.

Hello @Members As some of you have likely noticed by now @Quik went on vacation and has simply fallen off the face of the earth, or at least the face of the VHL. In light of this the former blues and I have convened and decided that's likely time to add a new member to the Blue team to help lighten the load, especially going into the off-season. Quik will remain on board in the event of his return (at least for now) but in order to help keep the site running smoothly we would like to officially announce that @Beaviss is joining the blue team! At the current moment Beav will continue to oversee the @Recruitment Crew while he trains up a new head for it in addition to taking on his new commish role.

What a massively lackluster way to end Thompson's career but also fitting. Was always good at getting piles of playoff points but never the Kanou. Congrats Seattle. I expected a much more evenly matched final. Would be lying if I said I expected a sweep in either direction. Tough to beat Seattle when they win what, 10 straight in the playoffs?

See the last 8 games you actually need to think about a lot because if you mess up or miscount you’re fucked. Also the intention of the rule is not to have it be on the simmer’s head so if your lines don’t work for some reason and you’ve waited until the very end you’re gonna miss some. Doing them right off the top is the safest method. Also gives you plenty of time to make the games back if your backup shits the bed.

Exactly. You don’t see the NHL tracking CHL stats; the idea is exactly the same. The VHLM is treated like the CHL, a stepping stone towards the VHL but not combined.

Ah fuck, clicked to see @Berocka’s response and lost mine in the process, oh well. On the whole I agree with @diamond_ace. The VHLM is first and foremost a tool to teach new players how things work and get them engaged and coming back. When we moved to 11 teams we did discuss 6 vs. 8 playoff teams and ultimately settled on 8 because we do want more people to experience the playoffs in the VHLM. Having it the same as the VHL now is a nice bonus. @GustavMattias is correct that this hurts competitiveness in the regular season a bit and that is a bit of a downside I’ll admit but one that, IMO, is worth it. Does the 8th place team stand a chance at beating the first place team? Not likely but it could happen and more importantly it gives new guys a bit of a taste of playoff time even if it’s only a few games. Also I hate byes with a passion so balance is nice but that’s a minor thing haha.

If that’s the case then 100% no one has kept track of that because for record keeping purposed we always have the VHL and VHLM separate.

I’m gonna read the rest of this thread later but just wanted to bring up that I’m 99% sure STHS cannot have playoffs formatted in this way. I think it MIGHT be able to when you set it to WC mode but that changes a pile of other things as well that don’t work for us. Basically once a team loses their playoff round they are out. We can manually set who plays who if we want to do some complexity (that’s how crossover always worked) but we can’t bring back losing teams to play in further rounds.

I don’t know if anyone has kept track of finals appearances, just cups. Though didn’t Glade also only play 7 seasons? He wasn’t S61 was he?

It’s part of the lines. If the GM allows their AGM to perform line changes than they can swap the goalie out if they so choose. I don’t restrict certain changes based on who sets the lines. Seriously though @Beaviss just start QUE G the first 8 games or something and get it out of the way for once.
