I’ve got him on Facebook, same with McNeil. That’s usually how I contact them. Popping in to say hi is pretty much all I usually ask but he’s a busy guy.

I had to demand a trade off of Stockholm in S3 because Julien was intentionally benching me behind a CPU Goalie to prove a point. I don’t remember what that point was but I wasn’t pleased about it.

Sigh Why must I always make theme week a thing, it means I actually have to write stuff. This season especially is annoying since I need to actually remember the league’s first 10 seasons: difficult since it was 12 years ago. So, what’s a commish to do? The simple thing of course, talk community instead. Specifically steal an idea I read earlier but go a bit further back and mention the 3 people I’d like to see back in the league from its first decade. Scotty: Ah our original leader. The man responsible for most of the articles this week given how completely dominant his player was in everything but being drafted first. Scotty’s got a kid and a wife and is generally a busy guy these days which means he hasn’t come back around in quite some time, even though I ask him to on most of the league’s anniversaries. Anyway, none of us would be here without him and after such a huge member surge the past few years I think it would be interesting to have the new members meet the man who helped create the place. McNeil: Most people likely don’t remember McNeil as well, or at least as fondly, as I do. He was a staple member around the board when I was active with Beketov and an amazing teammate in the S12 Bears locker room which, to this day, remains one of the best LR’s I’ve ever been in. McNeil and I would shoot the shot over CoD a bunch and were generally closer than I have been with most members. I brought him back a few seasons ago but he couldn’t keep his activity level anywhere near the standard it used to be. Still, would be great to have him back. Julien: This is actually someone I wouldn’t have thought of until about a week ago when he commented on something in the VHL Facebook group and reminded me of his existence. Julien was one of the league’s earliest GM’s and one of the more targeted members back in the day. The league as a whole was pretty trolly and, as @JeffD can confirm, Julien and I were common targets. I don’t have insanely fond memories of him like I do with McNeil or anything but I just think it would be interesting to have an early member around who might enjoy seeing how far the league has truly come compared to where we started.

Did you trade for Eagles? I was going off his 66 starts plus QUE G having 4 which means 2 games are left for starts which accounts for Pouta. Edit: Eagles started game 1 for you so no, you didn’t trade for him. So yeah, math doesn’t add up. There’s no way Eagles has 66 starts with 8 backup games.

It was indeed the Wild West. The league’s worst trolls of today wouldn’t even have been average in the first 10 seasons. Shit was brutal; most likely because we were all between the ages of 13 and 18 basically and most people in that age group, especially back then, were little shits. Honestly as immature as our leadership group was (not that they were worse than the rest of us) they were also what got us past those first 10 seasons and Into the longevity periods of sim leagues. Nowadays most last much longer than they did back then; usually because the league leaders were just people who wanted their own players to succeed and didn’t care about the league as a whole. Finding STHS was the other thing. Ultimately we can complain about it all we want but before the VHL every league I ever saw, regardless of sport, was simmed on an EA game. You wanna talk pain in the ass simming? STHS being so easy revolutionized everything.

Tisk Tisk Tisk, even with my warning at the deadline here we are with not 1 but two teams having broken the Louth rule. Calgary started their backup 7 times, missing the requirement by 1 AND Vancouver (fittingly with the name of the rule) started their backup 6 times, missing the requirement by 2. Since they are both playoff teams the precedent is clear. Backup goalies will be in net for game 1 for both teams and for game 2 for Vancouver. @Beaviss @Bushito

INDEX @VHL GM VHLM Regular season still need to finish up and we want to give you guys some time to get your lines set and stuff so I'm thinking playoffs will likely start Monday. Still, we might do things early and start them tomorrow so get your lines in ASAP. As a note for everyone, this index doesn't include the most recent updates (they are a couple of days behind I think) but I will be updating for every playoff sim so rest assured that they will be accurate for the sims.

There’s a potential conflict of interest for both of us. I’m in the playoffs with a player, Devise is with a player and a GM. There’s no way to avoid it. Its called trusting your simmers, something most people besides Gorlab are fine with.

Simmer’s curse, I’m always screwed.

The question is do I rig a Malmo win for personal gain or a Davos win to avoid suspicion?

It’s honestly gonna be a hell of a showdown. Malmo May have the Victory Cup but these two teams aren’t as separated as they appear in paper. I fully expect this will go to at least 6 if not 7 and be ridiculously tight. I have 1.6 PPG in the playoffs so far in my career so hopefully I can keep that kind of pace up and stomp through Davos’ Defense. Gonna be tough though.

I’m not sure off the top of my head what the tiebreakers are but if you guys were out the index would list you as eliminated and it doesn’t so you must have the tiebreaker. If I recall the tiebreaker is wins and then GF.

Hey, mathematically still counts. I mean if Davos gets a single point in their last 4 games, or Moscow loses a single game, then Moscow is out but there is technically still a chance haha

The coloured logo was actually Stockholm’s logo. The black and white circular one was their alternate created after.

Combined with the fact that Scotty was our first simmer so was able to figure out exactly the meta build for STHS while everyone else was flailing about trying to figure out what worked. I’ve long suggested we lock the record books and start fresh ones so that some records are actually attainable. For example, Thompson has the most goals of any player since S10 and it’s still only 4th all-time and over 200 under Scotty. No other player has hit 500 goals, Scotty has over 600.
