S63 VHL Draft Lottery Saturday, September 29th, 8PM EST Before we get to the big show, I would like to formally announce that the lottery is changing as of next season (does not affect this lottery and was decided before this lottery). Since we feel it’s not entirely fair to have a team that made the playoffs having the same odds as teams that didn’t towards getting the first overall pick, the odds starting next season will be as follows: 8th: 30% 7th: 30% 6th: 30% WC: 10% This way the non-playoff teams will retain even odds at first overall but the team who lost in the WC round, while still having a shot, will have decreased odds. Assuming a 2nd random number is required (for example if the 8th place team takes the first drawing) odds will return to even for all teams with the subsequent draws. With that out of the way, let’s get to the Draft lottery for Season 63! Results VHL DRAFT ORDER 1st - 2nd - 3rd - 4th - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chance to Win the 1st Overall Pick - 25% - 25% - 25% - 25% Chance to Win the 2nd Overall Pick - 75% - 8.33% - 8.33% - 8.33% ------------------------------------------------------------------------ General Managers - @Quik - @Spade18 - @DollarAndADream - @hedgehog337

Great opportunity for those perhaps wanting a GM job in the future. Especially those jumping up from this past WJC!

Pretty sure this was an accidental posting by the post bot since it was a regular season link. Edit: Scratch that, looks like the post bot was just used when it wasn’t supposed to be. Edited the OP.

There’s also the fact that absolutely none of us knew what we were doing at the time and Scotty was the only one with the sim engine to actually test what would and wouldn’t work. We take it for granted that we all understand what stats do what now and such, that was never really a thing back in the first season aside from Scotty because he was the one with STHS. I don’t think anything was rigged, Scotty just had exactly the right combination of advantages over everyone else.

Way to give me a bloody heart attack seeing that title in my unread posts haha
-
Correct. TPA = Total Points Applied. TPE is total points but doesn’t matter if they are applied or not. TPA calculates how much has actually been added to the player.

I figured we could take Riga but Calgary was a completely different beast.
-
Well then, I was under the impression you had tried the ridiculous strategies we had suggested, I was wrong. Either way, makes no real difference. We weren’t exactly going in with high expectations haha
-
That’s actually surprising, I figured you’d need to turn up the defense. We were running 0-0-5 the entire time to try and overwhelm you since we knew that you’d destroy us if we tried to play defensively. Worked for a bit but you must have found some chemistry that worked. Good Luck in the final, you deserve it far more than we would have.
-
Not sure if Bush changed Calgary’s strategy or STHS just decided to be nice to him but this went exactly as I expected. Once Calgary started playing more defensively we didn’t stand a chance. Either way the better team won, was a fun run while it lasted. Will be interesting to see if anyone can pass me in playoff points haha.

Mine was in fact too simple I will say haha. Holik is very close though since I’ve always preferred goalies and he was by far my best one. If Thompson keeps up his pace from this season he may very well pass Beketov though. Mind you I doubt I’ll ever change my account name again. It’s been far too long with this now and people know it so I think it’s gonna stick even if a better player does come along. For now my only HoF player and the one with the award name does make the most sense.

Obv Joke’s on you, I took the pennies and ran. It was Will you needed to bribe

Welcome to the VHL, Radio! We're happy to have you. You should have received a PM with some more detailed information, but to get started quickly you will want to head over to the "How to Create a Player" topic. That topic will offer you detailed information about how to use the VHL Portal to create your player and get you started. We also highly recommend joining the VHL Discord where there is a channel dedicated to helping new members with any questions that they may have about the league or improving their player. Once your player is made VHLM General Managers will be in touch with you about joining their teams. In the meantime, please feel free to ask any questions you have here or in your create-a-player thread. We're happy to have you in the community and we hope you stick around!

If you were nearly as dominant over us as you think you are, it would certainly take more than 1 re-sim to get us wins; it would take several. Combine that with trying to keep the results of the other series not tampered with and you’d have plenty of time wasted. Like Bana said, by all means you should be winning this and absolutely no one on Seattle is expecting to take it. We were expecting to get swept. However we learned from how your regular season went and decided to play to our strengths, clearly it’s working. It probably shouldn’t be but STHS is weird sometimes. People have been claiming “rigged” for ages but there’s never been any proof because the fact is that no commish would willingly put the entire league at risk just to win a season. I get that you’re looking at a team with both commishes that you should be stomping and seeing a tied series so your brain goes straight to we’re cheating but seriously, a continental cup isn’t worth tanking the entire league over. No one has rigged anything, the engine is just doing what it does best; being random AF.

I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure our settings are such that endurance isn’t taken into consideration.
-
There’s no way to restrict who can use the feature. However so long as people don’t abuse it by tagging the member group often or something it will be fine and actually probably fix that issue. Most stuff like that is just based on old mass tags people had lying around that we’re accurate.
-
I'll get on it soon.
-
That's with the scoring slider at minimum based on our old tests. Hopefully I can figure something out in new ones but, as @Will said, the sliders were given less of an effect compared to the attributes.
-
Gaffer Tape It's a ridiculously strong tape that film sets and theatres use. Mostly for securing cables to the floor and such.
-
It's not a decrease in player performance (aside from goalies) it's a major increase. So there's no adapting, there's just a massive increase in scoring with goalies all having like 3 GAA.
-
I feel like I knew that but forgot when writing this. I believe we have talked about it before and you have tested it quite exhaustively but it would be interesting to at least have the numbers for everyone to see and easily laid out. I do recall scoring being insanely high even with the slider being placed at absolute minimum for scoring. A fully laid out test would at least give us a starting point to decide if the features are worth having to likely completely re-work how high are attributes can easily become right now. I doubt the new scale will make a huge difference because it helps a bit in this case but not mostly just made up for the increase in weekly TPE.
-
Ah, yes, of course. If @Will is cool with me trying I could probably run a test season or 2 based on current setup and obviously just not save the files to dropbox so nothing gets over-written.
-
I'm completely blanking on what those are.
-
Based on my test you don't get notified from doing it to yourself. So far the sake of testing @VHLM GM
