Before the @VHL GM’s get too excited: no we are not increasing the cap. League leadership has already discussed our reasons for this, top of which is that there’s little proof it would do anything but make the teams continue to stack their top end, as it usually does. ANYWAY, what we’re going to allow is VHL teams to release 1 inactive player (that is to say, per the VHL rules, a player who has not updated in at least 30 days) without a cap hit so long as they sign an active FA first. So, for example, if you have an inactive taking $3M in cap space you can sign an active FA worth $3M (or less) and drop the inactive player for free. We don’t intend this to be permanent and do have more robust systems being discussed but for now it should allow some of our FA’s to find homes rather than simply having inactives sitting in roster spots. - @Commissioner

We’re working on longer term things and trying to find a stop gap measure in the meantime. Its tough to say “how dare the league allow this” when teams that literally have the cap space just aren’t bothering to make an offer though.

We have now received the final auction item donation and have made the donations to SickKids and St. Jude. When accounting for the VHL's $1000 donation match our total to be split between the two charities is a staggering $4,762.73! For the sake of transparency here are the confirmations: The sections redacted are just personal information so don't worry about that. Additionally you will obviously notice the St. Jude donation is lower; that's just because SickKids uses CAD and St. Jude uses USD so we converted to USD for their donation. Absolutely amazing job blowing our wildest expectations out of the water once again everyone!
