Historically we’ve given the YouTubers too much freedom with the scripts I think and it has led to a lot of them making that comparison because it’s the easiest to explain. Problem is that easy to explain and accurate are two very different things. You certainly aren’t the only one given that wrong impression. Yes but also time = member loss. It’s an inevitable thing, the longer people are here for the more likely they are to leave. The data points from more than a few years ago are more of “well that’s interesting” than they are valid to a discussion like this because ultimately people get tired over time and leave for various reasons we can’t control. I mean the immediate mindset that it’s going to fail doesn’t help much but yes, you are right: why focus on recruitment when retaining seems like more of the concern? Because we have to, at least at this stage. Because of the gap created by S80 players not being forced to retire the usual influx of recreates doesn’t exist this season which means we need to basically build a draft class from the ground up and hope our efforts that have gone towards retention have helped. That or we brute force so many members that even an 8% success rate is a decent amount, the old Beaviss recruiting method from covid times.

Most times* Ultimately the portal’s stats are a database made up of the players that it contains. To have it be completely correct we would have to go through and add every single one of the hundreds of players that existed before it and would require their individual season stats to do that, many of which we don’t have.

Tbh I wouldn’t have even gotten as close as you did so I would hardly say that haha

Kinda wild to see that we are a month and a half into the year and despite “low recruitment numbers” we’re already like halfway to our annual total from pre-2018. Given that I became blue in September of 2017 I will be taking the credit for the boom; you’re all welcome.

They do but things cooled off a good bit before that anyway. It's just kinda one of those things where back in the day there was intense competition between the different leagues all fighting over a small pool of the same members. Now that fighting doesn't really exist because we've just decided to try and make it easier on people to be in multiple leagues instead of being so focussed on "no, these are OUR members, keep your hands off" kinda mentality. People still have their "primary" league of course but it's way less likely for anyone to be in only one league now.
