Generally my response in that situation is something along the lines of “You can find that in the HoF section on the forum” or whatever it is. That’s not giving them a direct link to the relevant topic but at least it’s pointing someone in the right direction. The board makes it clear what all the forums and subforums are so finding a forum when it’s specifically mentioned is not necessarily difficult. I think the biggest issue is people find a question that have trouble with and either just seek out someone to hand them the answer or they guess. A far better course of action is to use the trivia channel on the discord to ask for help. People generally won’t hand you the direct answer but they will point you in the right direction.

Have we considered perhaps not treating the mods as if they are crown persecutors? Them looking into something doesn’t automatically mean anyone is going to be punished for it. I don’t know precisely how this all went down but I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with “please stop doing this thing” which isn’t saying “or else” in any way. Again, I wish I would have known more about what was going on because this whole crackdown doesn’t seem to be what I saw discussed but that doesn’t mean that it’s wrong for the mods to look into anything. If we only allow the RGB teams to handle that kind of thing we’d gonna burn out faster than we already do.

How do you figure that? We have literally more options than ever to hit the cap. If someone feels like their trivia is too hard they can just go and do something else. Minor tasks account for much more total TPE than people are actually able to claim so I’m not sure I really subscribe to this notion that “oh trivia is too hard” when you can just go do something easier if you find that to be the case. Also where does this “threat of punishment” keep coming from? From what I have seen no one has ever said there will be any kind of punishment. It was more a “hey, if you’re doing this please stop doing it” sort of thing.

While I never expressly asked for this crackdown (there is a glitch at least one person was exploiting which SHOULD be cracked down on but that’s different) I will say that I could have sworn we re-outlawed it when we changed the trivia to the portal. Looking through the announcements and the rules though it appears we didn’t, it was just implied by the fact that questions get randomized. I still think the questions are reasonable enough that people shouldn’t need someone else to tell them what to pick but that’s beyond the point. As for why this was a “mod issue” … I present two things: 1. The CoC specifically mentions cheating which if this is interpreted as such it would cover. Therefore that falls under mod jurisdiction. 2. The aforementioned glitch is more of a dev thing which I think is where this all started, thus @Dil’s involvement at all. I do wish we would have been consulted before any kind of crackdown since there’s obviously a discussion to be had but that didn’t happen. I’m not sure exactly what evidence is present and perhaps it indicates something more than just a pool of answers but I’m uncertain. That’s not necessarily Dil’s fault, I just didn’t know anything was going on aside from the aforementioned glitch abuse.

It will be updated with new info when we hit the off season. We started using it a bit ago instead of our usual “off season schedule” but it’s the same basic idea. Can’t really update it before the season ends because playoffs vary so much in length depending how they go. Regular season we know the number of games so it’s much easier to estimate a month ahead of time when it’ll end. Not in the slightest, some of us are just old guard and remember a time where the forum was the only means of communication so we use it. If an article seems interesting I will read it. The “view new content” button at the top is amazing for this because it’ll just show you every new topic or post that you haven’t seen yet instead of having to painfully go through sub forums 1 at a time. I wouldn’t agree with that stance at all but again, I’m old, and am used to the various places things might be whereas newer members expect everything to be, shall we say, more organized. The nature of people submitting their own questions though kinda makes it impossible to consolidate everything and even if we could I wouldn’t want to. Yes, trivia is not always the easiest (though some questions are painfully easy) because it’s not meant as a way to just min/max as fast as possible and be done in 2 minutes. Take it as an opportunity to maybe find out some league history that’s interesting. As an aside, 90% or so of the questions have their answer in the HoF forum. It’s mostly a matter of deciphering the best way to find it. Honestly it just blows my mind that anyone would have the mindset that it is, especially around half a year (you said third season, so like 24ish weeks) in. I know we have people who literally never come to the forum but it just kinda breaks my heart because this is literally all we had so it was designed in a way to be used. Personally I think the forum is a far better communication tool than discord really. I mean you wrote this 3 days ago and I’m responding now. You think that’s doable on a discord?
