As I'm sure you've all seen by now, @frescoelmo and @Dom have decided to focus on their mod duties instead of GMing which leaves us of course with the ever popular opening for a pair of VHL GM positions. Season 84 Experience Points Congratulations to everyone for the completion of another successful VHL season, as well as to the Warsaw Predators for taking home the Continental Cup. As always, with the season past, all VHL players have earned some more experience. How to Claim Claim experience in the Player Management area by clicking the 'CLAIM UNCAPPED' button, select Off-Season, then select Experience from the dropdown. Enter the amount of Experience you are eligible for as described below and link to this thread.  Once approved, the Experience will be added directly to your player's experience attribute. You do not need to apply it yourself.  NOTE: YOU CAN NOT CARRY OVER EXPERIENCE POINTS EARNED BY A RETIRED PLAYER ONTO A RECREATE  POINTS Full VHL Season - 5 Points Partial VHL Season - 2 points (Less than 72 GP in VHL, unless due to a trade) Playoffs - 2 Points Finals - 1 Point Example: AJ Williams played for Seattle. They get 5 for a full season, 2 for playoffs, and 1 for finals. Honestly look at @Dil. If you told me when he joined that in a few years he’d be a mod and a GM I would have laughed at you because he was an annoying kid. He’s still an annoying kid of course but he filed down the rough edges a bit.

Don’t really need a full announcement for this since it pretty much only matters to @VHL GM’s but whatever. Given that regression needs to be adjusted a bit after the hybrid attributes we have come to realize that cap space is a bit tighter than we would like. Therefore the salary cap will be increased by $2M to a max of $42M for the upcoming season. We are likely to adjust this number seasonally for a bit while we work out changes to depreciation that go along with it so it could fluctuate but for now that’s what you guys will have to work with.

I'm not saying we don't necessarily but you know as well as I do that a lot of time people very new to the league will immediately jump into applications that they aren't remotely ready for. So step 1 of widdlign it down is to immediately remove the people who we know aren't ready for the job. That's not going to involve checking the name history of every single person to make sure they haven't changed their name 5 times in the last year. Now obviously if I see that name I don't recognize associated with a VHLM GM tag then clearly I'll try a bit harder to make sure but I'm just saying that no one would be doing themselves any favors by making it harder to keep track of who they are. Long term activity goes a long way and making yourself look like you are new isn't a great way to get people to trust you.

I would think the team would still have to be cap compliant. Otherwise you’re just throwing the cap out the window for the playoffs and that’s not really reasonable at all. Like you said, keep the star power all season and as long as you make the playoffs you can load up the depth at that point.

Unless you have 15K lying around to build a new engine there’s not much we can do about that. STHS is far from perfect but it’s still the best option that’s available to us.

I won't say I've specifically ignore you for any role because of this but I will just throw it out there: changing your username every 2 months doesn't help your case. I know that might sound a bit petty but to be entirely honest we have a lot of members to keep track of so keeping a running tally of who's who and their resume when they keep changing their username adds an additional layer of complication that doesn't need to be present. Quite literally I was receiving lines from you for over half the season before I realized it was still you in charge of Ottawa and the team hadn't been given to a new member. As a general rule though we hire based on who we trust will be able to do the job effectively and hopefully long term. Yes, part of that is having a rapport with people and that definitely helps but we wouldn't refuse someone a job on the basis of "we don't like this person" exclusively; there would be a reason. Maybe their activity level isn't where it needs to be for a given role, maybe we don't think they have enough league experience, maybe we don't think they would mesh well with the people they need to mesh with for that job. There's a lot of factors at play but "do I like this person" isn't really one of them.

The main issue, and the reason the callup limit when it existed was set as the trade deadline, is STHS itself. Once it's in the playoffs you can't change rosters to add new players, it won't let you. So If we were to allow this we would need to make sure to provide a day between the regular season ending and the playoff index being created where GM's could see whether or not their prospects made the playoffs and if they didn't then call them up. Additionally once playoffs have started if a VHLE team gets eliminated the VHL team cannot then call up a new player. Those aren't impossible rules to work around, just explaining the complication. It's more than just "we don't want to." Same reason that VHLM teams can't sign new players in the playoffs ultimately.
