It's about that time (finally). Cash Carti just got bounced from the VHLM semis and is about to make his highly anticipated debut in the VHL after what hopefully won't be too long of an off season. After being selected 1st overall in the Season 97 VHL draft by the London United, Cash Carti is hard at work in the gym preparing to hit the ice in the UK on opening night. The United are in for another possibly bleak season as the rebuilding stage progresses, but the rookie winger hopes to gain footing and develop against the top tier competition in the VHL. While management in London hopes to be competitive and make the playoffs, it seems a little ambitious unless some glaring roster holes can be patched over the course of the break. Carti and his rookie counterpart Bolivar are both coming off of dominating seasons in the VHLM, but it likely won't quite be enough unless some established veterans can lead them.
75 points in 72 games. That was Carti's stat line coming out of the VHLM. After a disappointing finals loss to the Halifax Boats, he is ready to show dedication and relentlessness in the VHL with full commitment to his new team in an attempt to eventually lead the squad to the promised land. Making the hall of fame would also be a goal of Carti's, but that has proven to be harder than ever in today's VHL climate. It is still far too early in the rookies career to even be entertaining those thoughts. As of now, the goal for Carti is to develop as a pure sniper and put up as many goals as possible, hopefully forming some chemistry with his new line mates.
Carti hopes to become the face of a franchise, which is poised to even have a "two headed snake" scenario with rookie Bolivar coming off an MVP VHLM season. Fans think these two forwards have the potential to lead London out of the gutter they've been in since their GM Jacob retired a few seasons ago. This will be Carti's first time leaving America also, which will add to the adventure of his VHL experience. The United have the 3rd overall pick in this upcoming draft as well, which features many strong prospects. The team hopes to round out its "new core" after this draft and things are definitely trending in an upward direction for the club. Time will tell whether Carti can come into his own or not!
