Suggestions were asked and I am here to present some. The very first thing that could be changed is removing names on the options. For example, instead of picking "Calgary" or some player, you should only have options A, B, C, and D. Just the letters, nothing else.

The next thing that could be changed is removing the questions completely. I don't think it matters too much what the question is when you are picking from letters A, B, C, and D. When the questions are removed VHL users are pushed right to the core of the fantasy zone: that core is called "Fantasy".

Force the users to imagine what the answer might be. Force users to imagine what the question might be. By doing so, VHL is teaching the users a valuable skill - the skill of creativity. The payout is not uncapped tpe. The real payout is the users increased ability to fantasize. The real payout is the visions seen by the users.

One fantasy zone week at a time VHL is saving marriages, creating new works of art, helping new business ideas come alive, and stopping one more dance TikTok video from being created.

Hello VHL! I'm excited to announce that I will be your new Fantasy Zone Manager!

As quoted, "Duties of Fantasy Zone Manager include: VHL/VHLE/VHLM Weekly Pick 'Em". I'm excited to get started, but I would first like to open up a thread for anyone to suggest ideas on how we can improve VHL/VHLE/VHLM Fantasy Zone. Maybe there is nothing to change, maybe there is? First of all, I would like to set a specific date weekly for Fantasy Submissions to open so that no one is guessing on it! I would guess Mondays or Tuesdays work best with how our Sunday claims work, but that is something you can suggest below!

A few things off the top of my head:
I would like to keep VHL/E/M Pick 'Em on one spreadsheet per week for easy picking, that won't be changing. I am open to Pick 'Em question suggestions. For example, "Who will lead in points by Game 100", or "Which team will win more games this week" type of questions... I want to always keep it interesting. Would over/under questions be something fun? Seasonal Standings Predictions. Once a season, at the beginning of the season, members can guess the correct order of VHL, VHLE, VHLM standings, as well as guessing each correct champion. Is this something people are interested in? Playoff Brackets. These should continue for the VHL for each series. VHLE and VHLM I might make it one guess for each entire bracket, not by series. Let me know if this is something you don't like. Do VHL/E/M GMs get added to the @ ping list each week so that they are sending the links to their players? I don't want anyone missing out and if that's something majority would like then I am open to adding you all on the ping list. I'm also open to adding anyone to the ping list!
I'm only one person who is brand new to this. Like I said above please don't be shy to suggest, the more chatter the better!

This seems to be something that I am looking at every season now and the big reason is due to the fact that I have always struggled with Rookies when it comes to predictions so what better way to help myself but also help the community by taking an open look at the rookies every season.

Last season Vancouver Wolves iced the most rookies with seven and hoped that they would make a huge play-off push but, in the end, fell a bit flat missing the play-offs; ended up trading two of the seven rookies this off season bring in a more veteran line-up. This season HC Davos Dynamo will be the rookie hot spot with four rookies entering their line up but two make the list that I am about to share so let take a look at Rookies entering the new season….

    1.    (S93) C - Antonia Bucatini

Let`s call this woman what everyone already knows about her as she is clearly an Italian mare as she enters the season more built like a second year forward with 644TPE. Antonia Bucatini @CowboyinAmerica will be a threat to score for HC Davos and will be looking to crack the 40-goal mark for the first time in her young career. I was a bit concerned with Davos only strength around this rookie forward but with Grimgor Ironhide @FrostBeard(S92 Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy) and veteran Sadie St-Louis @sadie beside her likely on the first line. She should be one of the front runners for the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy this season.

    2.     (S93) LW - Gianfranco Del Rocco

If Bucatini is a mare than Gianfranco Del Rocco @Victor is clearly the Italian stallion. If he was joining any other team, I would have him right at the near the top of the list for rookies that might win the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy, but joining the veteran and defending Champions means he will likely see limited touches on the second unit. Doesn`t mean he won`t score his usually thirty plus goals as he has done the past two season in the VHLE and the VHLM but it might be a bit tougher. Add in the fact that Seattle is also lacking a bit of star power on the back-end could see the Bears struggle to move the puck to the offensive minded forwards. Del Rocco and the Bears will be interesting to watch this season.

    3.     (S92) C - Wayne Gretzky

The much-broken Wayne Gretzky @MubbleFubbles finally makes his debut with the New York Americans. The forty – forty man should be in a very similar situation as Del Rocco as New York is looking to be a top team in the North American conference this season so Gretzky will likely find time on the second unit behind Jasper Davis @Josh. He should still be able to produce but maybe not at his former pace in the VHLE and VHLM. A lot of this will also be determined by who New York finds as the sixth forward and the chemistry that he might find with his line mates.

    4.     (S93) D - Lucy Leitner

Lucy Leitner @LucyXpher will need to find the devil within if she is going to have a say in the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy at the end of the season due to the fact that she is likely going to be paired with future HOF Skor McFleury @Alex; will I have no doubt that these two will find good chemistry, I suspect that McFleury will be the one racking up the points; if either of them do. Not to mention Riga offense might struggle this season with their forward ranking being towards the bottom of the league. I hope that Leitner proves me wrong and can get back to the point per game pace she had in the VHLM with the Bulls.

    5.    (S90) LW - Jussi Jokinenegg

Jussi Jokinenegg @HearnNation67 will try to find his inner Jari Kurri but missing his very own Wayne Gretzky likely means this pass first Finnish player might struggle to find points on the rebuild Prague team. If he can find some chemistry with veteran LeBen Aky @Ben_Reformed than both players might have a career season but with another pass first forward likely on the same line I am concerned about who will finish for the Finnish player!!

    6.     (S93) RW - Annie Oaks

Another rookie making their debut for the Vancouver Wolves is Annie Oaks @Noodle Enjoyer as she is the eighth in the past two seasons but she is joining a much different looking team compared to when the other joined. Vancouver has loaded up on veteran players to aid the chances of making the play-off this season and this might see Oaks playing down the roster a bit depending on line combinations but she should have an opportunity to put up huge points regardless of where she lines up in the Vancouver line-up but she struggled in the VHLE last season with the Express so I would expect a bit of the same this season.

    7.     (S93) D - Gul Dukat

One man`s villain is another man`s hero and Toronto Legion will hope that this is a case when it comes to Gul Dukat @MSouthworth as the defensive minded Cardassian; not to be mixed up with the kardashian. Don`t expect Dukat to put up significant numbers to be consider for the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy but should be a welcome member of the Legion beside Bobby Bob @Baby Boomer or Walter Fitzroy Jr. @Moon.  Watch for Dukat name in a few season in discussion around the Jake Wylde Trophy if he can add a bit more physical side to his game.

    8.     (S93) D - Benjamin Abenduct

Moscow Menace will hope that Benjamin Abenduct @Schnee doesn`t abdicate his defensive responsibilities in chasing the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy as another defense first defender makes the list. Surprisingly Abenduct has had success in the VHLM and the VHLE with at least a point per game player; could he be the surprise player that we almost always see come out of nowhere to have their name at least mentioned in the ROY conversation? Abenduct should have plenty of chances this season to put up points playing along side either Obuz Schneider Canet du Bocage @Grape or Leif Reingaard @Zetterberg on what should be a contending team this season.

    9.    (S93) LW - Forum Content

The second of the four rookies from Davos Dynamo and last mentioned in this article is a player that should generate a ton of content in Forum Content @frescoelmo. While I expect Content to struggle this season as they head up what is likely the second line in Davos this season; if they find chemistry with other members of the team, they might just surprise a few as they look to regain the form that they had in the VHLM when they paced themselves to 105pts season. While 100pts might be out of reach; a 50pts season would be more than impressive and generate even more interest in Forum Content.

    10. (S93) LW – UghSike

Chicago Phoenix will hope that this offensive player won`t sike you out!! Ugh! I cannot believe that I used that!!  If UghSike @UghSike can find chemistry with veteran Francesco Mancini @GioSivo or raising star Joshua Schwarzer @Velevra than I expect this player might be in the conversation for Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy by season end, not to mention maybe even pushing Chicago higher up the standing and into play-offs. He is my long shot for the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy and will be worth really watching as the season progresses.

So that is a look at the ten of the nineteen rookies that will make their debuts in hopefully a few days when the VHL season starts so did this help you with your predictions and who do you think will win the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy?

Either way comment below and let me know what you think of this season rookie class….

I was messing around today looking at teams and new players in the VHLM and decided to find the best five names.  The VHL league as a whole has some creative people in it that come up with some pretty interesting names so I went on the hunt today to find the three best (new) names in VHLM.

    BORIS BONE-BREAKER @RileyL
At 606 238lbs we see what Rileyl is wanting with his massive defenseman build.  Still early but I expect to see BONE BREAKER in the league leader in PIMS in the future.

    LaClapbomb Hitstick IV @Greasy Gary
For this one I don’t know what name is better LaClapbomb Hitstick or Greasy Gary.  Both made me giggle.  Another massive dman he had 179 hits 80 PIMS and 126 blocked shots. Fist gen player I look forward to seeing where he takes this build into the VHL.

    Clapbomb Bardownski III @Eb14
The final name on my list is a MIssassauga standout with 21 goals last season.  Currently at 142 TPE so looks like another season in VHLM for sure before we can potentially see this great name in DC.

    Honorable mention:
    An Actual Holy Cow @nurx
    Squilliam Goon @williamirc
    David Pastanap @Jubis
    Samsayz I-Smell @CaptainSB

AJW reacted to scoop in Who's making the playoffs in S94?
Sometimes going into the season, it's not clear who will make the playoffs. I do feel like it's more often a case of there being more than five teams trying to compete, as opposed to fewer than five. That is to say, it's more likely that a team that would like to make the playoffs is left out, rather than a team making the playoffs simply because they are the best of the bad teams. This is why the playoffs are so unpredictable; there are almost always five teams that have a real shot at winning any series. This season, it looks like we have five teams in both conferences that I would label as contenders, making it easy to predict who will be making the playoffs. I don't necessarily thinks it's a guarantee, as teams that look good may underachieve while questionable teams exceed expectations, but I'm fairly confident about which teams will make the post-season.

    North America
Seattle, Toronto, New York, Chicago, Vancouver

In no particular order, these are the five teams I believe will make the playoffs this season. Each of them could have a shot at winning a championship, though I do believe some have some work left to be done on their roster. I do think there is a fairly clear divide between the top five and the bottom three in North America. Teams like Toronto and New York will rely heavily on a few of their best players, while Seattle and Chicago have very balanced rosters with no glaring weaknesses. Vancouver is probably first in my ranking of the teams, but from one to five all teams have the potential to be competitive. The other three teams are simply not trying to compete, and I would be shocked if any of them are in the playoff picture at the end of the season.

    Europe
    Malmo, London, Moscow, Warsaw, Riga

While I do think Europe's bad teams look better than North America's, I don't see Davos or Helsinki making a serious run at a playoff spot. Riga is definitely the team that I think could be in jeopardy of not making it, but I don't give that much of a chance. None of the three teams that I have missing the playoffs have any stars on their roster, and while teams like Malmo, Moscow, and Riga all arguably have just one elite player on their roster, they have supporting casts that are noticeably better than the three non-playoff teams.

I’ve been browsing through the VHL Fantasy Zone thread and Pick ‘Em seems to be hands down the fan favourite. It’s what we have rolled with since day 1 so why even bother doing other stuff like standings predictions if not everyone likes it. So I think Pick ‘Em is all I really should master right now.

0-2 Games correctly for 1 TPE
3-4 Games correctly for 2 TPE
5-6 Games correctly for 3 TPE

This payout seems to be the most common TPE payout used for Pick ‘Em. I added in 0-2 since I feel like members should still be rewarded for attempting the task, but I can change this. 2 games per league each week with a maximum of 3 TPE paid out should be perfect. Once indexes are posted I will start to work on Week 1 and my goal here is to have submissions open each Monday, closing on Friday. Games to guess on will be simmed on Saturdays/Sundays. I think this gives everyone more than enough time to get this task done (some may need extra time researching stats and standings), and a two day window of games to guess on is plenty. VHLM should sim roughly 20 games, VHLE 12 games, and VHL 32 games per two sims.

I’ve been liking having this all in a thread the way my brain works. Can always come back to it and anyone can help me out as I’m learning. I like being vocal with what I do so please if anyone in the future has any ideas feel free to use this thread!!!

Edit: Working on a better TPE payouts to involve questions too. Maximum payout will be 4 TPE, not 3.

So you could do 2 things. With 32 teams total between the leagues you have a max of 64 points with a perfect bracket.

So you could do like Super Coach with a percentile based system:
    Top Picker(s) 6 TPE
    80th+ Percentile 5 TPE
    60-80th 4 TPE
    40-60th 3 TPE
    20-40 2 TPE
    0-20 1 TPE

Or you can do a score based system where if you do good you win more, personally I like this better bc a decent score isn't punished by others just doing better than you.

    50+ 6TPE
    40-50 5TPE
    30-40 4tpe
    20-30 3tpe
    10-20 2tpe
    0-10 1tpe

You could adjust the numbers but it depends on your goals.... The 2nd method could lead to an overload of uncapped TPE of too many do well while the 1st system will lead to a more even distribution.

For your second point I do agree too! I will be posting the right links in order to research. I’ll have standings, stats leaders, everything… for a quick click right from each week’s link here just to hopefully make it easier for some. Especially new users who probably don’t even know which VHL teams are good yet. I can have a section at the end of each week’s post titled “Helpful Links” or “Research Links”…. You get it

Predicting standings are annoying af and have a low chance at paying out much.  Also think the point / scoring system on a lot of the payouts don’t make a whole lot of sense rn.

I think fantasy should also be efficient to do and friendly to mobile users, jumping back and forth from the forum to portal to look at stats and standings isn’t as easy as on a desktop.

@AJWanother idea that I'm unsure of how much effort this would take, but if GMs could opt into having a Fantasy Zone bot automatically post the link in their Team LRs the way the games are would be dope. I'm unsure of the exact hurdles with this but I feel making it automatic will make it easier for more members to do the FZs and see them
