Matthew Highmore: Road to the VHL 1996, this is the year that Michael Jordan would win his 4 NBA championships for the Chicago Bulls. More importantly, on the 27th of February, 1996, Matthew Highmore was brought into the world. Briefly he started his journey with Dartmouth’s Minor Hockey Association. When he got old enough he was drafted into the VHLM by the Miami Marauders 39th overall in S91. This pick would prove to be an absolute steal, in his first VHLM season he would put up 95 points leading the team. They’re playoff hopes would end quickly however, after running into the double headed monster of Logan Ninefingers and Caring Bear of the Philadelphia Reapers. In his second season, Highmore would remain productive by staying near the top 10 in points, almost hitting 90 again. His VHLM career would round up producing 85 goals and 99 assists in only 144 games. Hell of a player for a 39th overall pick if you ask me. Not everything was a happy ending for Highmore however, his first VHLE season saw a major drop off down to only 11 points… Was he a VHLM player who couldn’t handle the step up? Short answer, HELL NO!!! Matthew Highmore then went on to put up 98 points in his second season with Vasteras proving he belonged. With the 19th pick of the S92 VHL draft Matthew Highmore was drafted obviously way before he would play in the VHL. His first season wasn’t anything special nor was it horrible. S95 would see Highmore put up 26 points as a rookie in 72 games, his team didn’t make the playoffs but at least Highmore wasn’t a liability. This left him in a state of sadness, realizing he wouldn’t be close to becoming a star in the VHL the same way he was in the VHLM and VHLE. Highmore would follow up in the next two seasons bringing home 41 and 44 points for Helsinki. Then came a turning point in his career, traded to the Malmo Nighthawks he would open season 98 strong with 2 points in 4 games. This first trade wasn’t the turning point, this season, even though the team hadn’t had too much success, Highmore was finding a good rhythm early on until the trade to Vancouver happened. This trade had seemed to completely ruin Matthew Highmore’s season as he put up 6 points in 67 games and 0 in the playoffs. The only good take away from that season was he maintained a positive +/-, something he hadn’t done in the VHL yet. Now he looks on with an expiring contract and plenty of opportunity ahead of him, still having a few more seasons left in the tank. In the present day, Vancouver is eliminated from the playoffs, Highmore is unsure about his future on this team and who knows if he will ever turn into that superstar in the VHL or if he will remain a shell of his VHLM and VHLE form.

1. I guess I'm disappointed, however I still have a few more seasons left in the VHL so I'm not too worried 2. I always believe 3. I'll probably check in every now and then, won't bring out the magnifying glass though. 4. My player had a down year so maybe find someone who can help get me back to my 40 point pace! 5. I'll keep upgrading my players scoring so I can turn into a true sniper 6. I trust that our GM will make a good decision, any pick he makes will be the best one!

1. Not really but looks like we have a nice playoff run ahead so not complaining 2. I had a postivie +/- 3. Didn't score as much as I would have liked to 4. I think it's obvious 5. Doesn't matter, we'll be ready for them 6. Doesn't matter again, more games for us to dominate

1. I don't know too many people from the old vhl but it's really cool that they found a good reason to come back. 2. Good move, let's push into the playoffs. 3. I think we'll stay around the same spot but we will win the playoffs for sure. 4. 10. We're going to win. 5. Over because they're not leaving any for me! 6. It's a matter of performances I guess.

1- I'm just exited to score goals 2- 0 I always believe in my team 3-I got traded from malmo so i'm just happy to be on a team i can't lie 4- I would like to score more but what can you do and also being traded from my old team that quickly obviously 5- I'm not surprised that my player is doing well on this team 6- Recently I've been watching the Ottawa Young Drivers course, would not recommend. It's very boring.

1- Honestly, rookie or not I treat them with the same respect. 2- This just comes up to the players and the GM to make the right adjustments, figure out what works and go from there. 3- I don't mind being in a rebuild since I just become a bigger scoring option but I also don't mind being part of a powerhouse where I have a smaller role to play 4- I've been studying goalies to find the best spots to shoot but also practicing hitting those spots in training. 6- My training is studying top VHL snipers to copy them 7- Huge K-POP fan. -

1. I’m new to the team but from this information I think it’s going to be a matter of getting out on the ice and seeing what works from there. 2. Yeah joining a new team can be a bit tricky but it’s up to me to stick around after practice and in the locker room after games to start meeting some of my teammates. 5. For sure the playoffs, the atmosphere is completely different and there are reasons we see so many teams do well in the regular season but flop in the playoffs. 6. My favourite part about the vhl has to be interacting with people here. Everyone is nice and welcoming. 7. Has to be the scoring, as a goal scorer I love seeing the puck go bar down. 10. If I had 1000$ cash I would put it all on red immediately, 0 hesitation. -
