We are 10 game in to the season and i still can't believe it. I am a freaking Reaper. The city is amazing. Nice people and nice food. Just because i can, i finished my morning run to the Phillys museum of art stairs like Rocky. I am a huge movie fan also. Yes i did the same pose when i got up there. Im so happy that this city is my home at the moment and speaking about my new home i need to show people that i am a steal for the team. I got were i wanted, but for me who has dreamed and worked this i think pick no 52 is too low for my standards, but that is definitely on me. It is clear that i was not good enough but like i always say. You learn from your mistakes.

I was on the phone with my friend and he asked that what is my favorite thing to do besides hockey in Philadelphia. Good question. That is gonna be Sixers games. I have only seen couple of games, but for a guy who is from little town from Finland. That is amazing experience. Im a fan now. You can't do nothing more than love this city sport teams and the fans. I have never seen anything like this! From little town to a big city living my dream. Sometimes i think i am dreaming. i can't wait to see what else this city can offer me! But clearly, hockey comes always first, but i can't wait to fly in my family here. There are gonna love it. And of course they are gonna see theirs favorite player play. Well me of course.

So the season has started and we are 10 games in. First of all, thank you Reapers management for giving me A on my chest. For me that is huge! So as a player my season started solid i think.  I have 13 goals and 19 points at this time and i wanna keep my momentum up and help the team. But i don't live by my own scoring. Hockey is a team game and we as a team have all the changes in this season. Yes our start have not been spectacular, but i know that the Reapers are going to the playoffs! So little time on this team but i can still say that i love this team. The mood in the locker room is the best i have ever experienced. All the guys supports others and motivates.  I have nothing bad to say about my teammates, management, and fans. Fans here are so cool! Never heard nothing like it like in our home games. Someday the roof will fly off fo sure.
I have great hopes for this season. I know that i can get better. I know that my teammates can get better. So worry not Reapers fans, we are not going down and you are going to see us in the playoffs because this team is a team that simply wont give up. And why sould we?

I really liked this article, from what I'm hearing, you are having a great start to the season, and 52 overall is very much a steal for the reapers. I would want to hear more about your thought of the big city a little bit more, and would like to hear your family's thoughts too. I think talking about some teammates could help you prove that you rely on the whole team as you say, but in general it was well written. 9/10

pallosiili reacted to Masu Chan in Good morning Philadelphia!
Good morning Philadelphia! I'd like to apologize in advance if I spell anything wrong or there's any errors with this. I am writing it on my phone. Hope you all had a great day. It hasn't been long since I first suited up in a Reaper's jersey but I gotta say, it feels pretty great. The city is nice, my teammates are fun and the management is good. I even got my jersey number, forty-three, so I'm excited. I often check my own player page just to see that little Reaper logo beside my name.
Going forty-fifth in the draft was a bit of a wake up call for sure. I had expected myself to be a higher pick. It just made me aware that I am behind a ton of players and that I need to step up my game. The only way people will only see me as a forty-fifth overall pick is if I don't improve. I want people to be like "That Mason guy shouldn't been at least a second round pick." and I hope it doesn't take long for those conversations to begin.
It's easy to say the start of the season has been rough for the Reapers, we are going to be underdogs no doubt, but I urge other teams not to underestimate us. We have had a slow start, that goes without saying, but if you think of us as an easy win we'll make you pay.
In the junior showcase tournament I was the Captain of an underdog team, known as the Steel. We pushed through and during the playoffs we were almost unstoppable making it to the final two teams in the tournament.
I don't think it was a coincidence the Reaper's drafted me. I think they saw how I performed in the more high pressure games and that I could handle the role of being a Captain. This isn't just purely speculation either, as I have been named co-captain in my first season as a Reaper.
Obviously I am aware that I am new to this league and I have a lot of tough competition.  I still have a lot to learn but I have faith it's only a matter of time till I prove myself as a steal in the draft. I believe that the steps I have taken thus far are great, I began this season in the VMHL with two goals and two assists in seven games. It's not amazing but it's a start. It's not all bad however, in these early games I have been made aware of some of my weaknesses and will dedicate some training to the areas that I've been struggling in.
To my teammates reading this, I want you to know that I believe in you. We will get through this rough patch, some of you are incredible goal scorers and I'll do my best to support each of you. If we each focus on the areas we struggle we will only get stronger with time. Keep your heads held high and prove yourself as a Reaper.
To anyone else that reads this, thank you, and remember not to count us out just yet.

This season in Philadelphia we will have 2 captains, one of which will wear the C at home and the other on the road. The Reapers captains for this season are:

    C (home) - Connor Wilson @LeBron Jamezz
    C (away) - Mason Jones @Masu Chan
    A - Mikael Mursu @pallosiili

    1. After the VHLM Draft, where do you see the Reapers landing in the standings? Do we make the playoffs or not?

Defintely! It's a mistake to take us lightly.

    2. Who is the biggest steal of the draft in your opinion?

Mason Jones! This is not first time when we are teammates so im surprised he did not get picked sooner. Absolute steal.

    4. Tell me your favorite vacation spot. Why does that place appeal to you?

Cabin in Finland. Wit a lake and a sauna. Maybe few beers. Finnish summer is the best. This year it was on a saturday.

    5. Le me know about your favorite kind of food and why.

Junk kind. Im too lazy too eat healthy. That is something i need to improve.

    6. Are you a dogs or cats person? Why.

Both. But i have two cat (Maine Coons).

    8. Movies or TV shows? Why that kind of media? I like more movies than TV shows.

It depends on my mood! Sometimes it's nice to watch many episdodes from the spot. So my asnwer is TV shows.

In Finland, name Mursu means walrus. So you can imagine the bullying Mikael got from school when he was a little kid. Kids in Finland don't know the word mercy. Because of the bullying, Mikael was a loner. He's only friends were his mother, father and little sister Pirkko. When Mikael was 7 his father felt bad for him. Because it was winter, Mikael's father bought him skates to go skating on an outside ring. They went skating together and it did not take long to Mikael to love it. As you can imagine, first time for a 7 year old went quite bad, but Mikael have found something he loved. Couple days later they went back to skating, but this time Mikaels father have bought them hockey sticks and couple of pucks. That was it. Then Mikael knew what he wanted to do with his life. They went to the ring almost everyday on that winter and because of that Mikael's parents signed him to a local hockey team. Mikael was afraid first because of the bullying from school but it did not take long to him to notice that the team welcomed him with open arms.

After some time decisions were made. There were so many players on the team and the coaches had to make some cuts about who will make to the main roster before the season starts. Mikael's skills were not unnoticed and he made the team first and got the C on his chest. That was Mikaels best day ever.

Mikael played on the team for years and was dominating the local division, but when he was 16 he got a call. Oulun Kärpät's U-18 team wanted him on the roster. This was he's opportunity to play on the best league in Finland. They lived 100km away from Oulu, but recently Mikaels father lost his job and he saw this as an opportunity for him also if they move to Oulu to find a new job and support his son. Whole family agreed to move and so Mikael carees in Oulu started.

During he's first year in the new team Mikael scored 19 goals and 23 assist's in 45 games. He was getting so much stronger and faster and was still growing up. Kärpät did not win the championship and was eliminated from the playoffs in the second round. In playoffs Mikael scored 4 goals and 5 assists. Mikael, who was so hungry to win, was very frustated and blamed himself for the elimination. He kept training for the summer with his dad almost everyday.

Second season with U-18 started and Mikael at the age 17 was more than ready. In the regular season after 45 games, Mikael scored 29 goals and 27 assists. Season ended with the championship. Mikael scored 12 goals and 17 assist on the playoffs. He had finally did it.

In the summer Mikael figured out that he didn't want to continue he's career in Finland. He and everyone knew that he has the potential and skill to play somewhere else where he can really to be the player he is.

So again, decicions were made. Finland is not enough. Mikael set's his eyes to the VHLM....
