  1. 1. Time flies when you’re winning! We are nearing the end of the regular season. What is one word to describe this S89 Davos squad?

    A1: Elite.

    2. Are you happy with your player’s performance this season? Did you improve from S88?

A2: At first it didn't seem like my player would do much better, but after the last sim, my player looks like they'll have a career-high in points if he keeps playing like that.

    3. Which EU team would you most look forward to facing in the playoffs?

A3: We have some unfinished business with London. I always enjoy facing Siyan and Adam.

    4. Which NHL player would you say your player is most similar to?

A4: I'll go with John Tavares. He's a very consistent player, great at taking away the puck, scoring goals, and setting up plays.

    5. Since there has recently been an emphasis on recruitment lately, what do you think the league should do to maintain high levels of retention?

    6. The FIFA Women’s World Cup is fast approaching! Who are you rooting for?

    7. What sports do you enjoy watching other than hockey?

A5: Sports Entertainment Wrestling. It's hard to explain why but I just enjoy the storytelling and the feeling I get when I watch an instant classic match.

    8. What is your favorite pizza topping?

A6: Assuming Pepperoni and Cheese are given. I'd go with Mushrooms. I'm a big fan of the "Canadian Pizza"

  2. Player Name: Lionel Collberg
    Age: 18
    Birthday: July 9th
    Birthplace: Nuuk, Greenland

    Height: 6’1ft

    Weight: 203lbs
    Shoots: Right

    STRENGTHS

Personality: Lionel is a very mature individual despite his age. According to his former teammates, he rarely gets upset and goes out of his way to encourage players while on and off the ice. Former coaches have stated that Lionel doesn’t care where he plays in the lineup and puts in 100% effort at all times. This was on display in a recent Reapers game when Lionel only played 3:38 minutes and scored the game-winning, powerplay goal.

Offense: His awareness may be his greatest strength, but his ability to read plays both on offense and defense makes him a threat on both ends of the ice. Spending most of his early career as a Center, Lionel possesses great offensive upside which has made him an exceptional playmaker.

Skating: He uses his dynamic skating to swiftly get into attacking lanes and he’s not afraid to sacrifice his body to block shots. His speed is one of his greatest strengths, if he’s caught out of position he’s able to catch up to attackers and break up plays from behind.

Defense: Thus far, Lionel has made a seamless transition into a defensive role for the Philadelphia Reapers. His tremendous stickwork has been on display, disrupting plays and forcing attackers to attempt risky passes more often, allowing Lionel’s teammates to come away with the puck.

Passing: Lionel demonstrates tremendous passing abilities in almost every game with slick passes up the ice. Though it’s a double-edged sword, his confidence leads him to attempt risky passes, forcing the puck through defending players to set up one-timers, which doesn’t always work out and may not be effective at higher levels of competition.

    WEAKNESSES

Physical Play: Lionel doesn’t use lay the body as often as one might expect from a player with his frame. Though he has demonstrated in recent games he is capable of making bone-crunching hits. The Reapers coach seems to have brought that playstyle out of the young defender and we hope we’ll see more of it as his career progresses.

    Shooting:
Lionel’s shot may be his weakest asset. Though he’s not afraid to shoot the puck, his shots are often aimed low or at the goalie's chest. Perhaps a good faceoff team would benefit from having this player, as it’d allow for more offensive draws.

  3. 1. In the spirit of theme week, what is one thing you would do if you were the commish of the VHL for a day?

A1: Add the JST Steel team to the VHLM.

    2. If you had to choose a topic for theme week, what would you pick?

A2: I think an Arcade theme week could be cool. Have people make retro game covers for their graphics and stuff.

    3. The trade deadline is looming! Are there any moves that you think we should make, or are you content with our roster?

A3: I like our roster as it is. Though I won't complain if we acquire a backup goaltender for future seasons.

    4. If there was an emergency backup situation, how do you think your player would fare in the crease for Davos if called upon?

A4: Not well, aside from my first season I haven't been willing to block many shots for the team.

    5. Have you ever attended an NHL game live before?

    6. How has NHL free agency gone for your favorite team so far?

A5: Confusing. Leafs acquired a bunch of players and are 8M over the cap, so I'm interested to see how we clear it.

    7. What is your favorite song right now?

A6: I really enjoy Four Letter Words by I the Mighty. They were my favorite band since I was 17 or 18 and helped me get through a few things. (Too bad the singer turned out to be a dickhead and it makes it very difficult to enjoy their music now)

    8. Out of the many upcoming video games set to release this year, which are you most excited for? If any?

  4. In honor of our recent jersey retirement ceremony, I think it's time we continue a tradition where we keep track of the numbers our amazing players have worn and will wear in future seasons.

    C) Legacy Gaming (#15)
    A) Ronald Johnson MacWallace III (#27)
    A) Steve Lattimer (
    Tord Yvel

I think it's about to announce our first honorary Jersey Retirement in Istanbul.

Please help me welcome Raihan Heavems @RstortonYT to the Redwolves Hall of Fame! In the first-ever VHLE season, Heavems proved his elite talent by leading the league in goals. He played 190 games with us and in that time he scored 106 Goals and 127 Assists for a total of 233 Points, earning him 2nd place among points leaders for the Redwolves while also maintaining 4th place in playoff production for the Franchise with a total of 7 Games played, 4 Goals, 12 Assists, and 16 Points.

  6. 1. Our current scoring leader is Alexandre Leduc with 47 points in 34 games as of July 2nd, closely followed by Jake Thunder with 46 in 34! Who do you predict will lead our team by the end of the season?

A1: I'm gonna go with Pete Mitchell. He was leading us early on and I think he'll be great in the second half.

    2. Is a team’s winning record the best reflection of their success?

A2: Few people are gonna care about Boston's amazing season because they didn't win the cup. Winning the cup is the best indication of success in my opinion.

    3. Our rivalry with Moscow is now heating up as we fight for the first place spot in the EU. What can we do to slow them down?

A3: I don't think we should worry about slowing down one team. Our focus should just be on our team and polishing our game so we have nothing to complain about when the big games start.

    4. What is your player’s best and worst STHS attribute?

A4: I'm not gonna go literal with his one. His worse one is Faceoffs because he's no longer a center. His best attribute has leadership. I don't think leadership actually does anything but how else would you explain how often he scores in the playoffs and how many Game Winning Goals he gets.

    5. In your opinion, what was the most surprising pick of the first round in the 2023 NHL draft?

A5: As a Leafs fan I have to say Easton Cowan. Not only do we not need a forward, the player was projected to be a 3rd round pick and we spent a 1st round pick on them.

    7. Do you currently have any pets? If so, what are their names?

A6: I have a lovely 13-year-old doggo named Ellie. My family has had her since she was a pup and she's pretty much a sister to me, I mean she has to be, she's been with me for half my life.

  7. 1. We are currently in first place in the EU! Who is your team MVP thus far?

A1: Gonna go with Pete Mitchell. He's leading the team in points and goals right now and has a great plus/minus.

    2. If you are participating in VHFL, who was your first pick this season? Even if you didn’t sign up, who would you have drafted with your first pick?

A2: Same player I picked in Super Coach. Daniel Janser.

    3. What was the inspiration behind your player and their name? If any?

A3: Iz my name. Hence the Masu Chan.

    6. What is your favorite non-NHL team?

A4: I'm a fan of the Portland Winterhawks. Their logo and branding are really pretty but I don't really watch any team outside of the NHL.

    7. What is your favorite film franchise?

A5: The Lord Of The Rings. The characters are great, the actors were great and the story was great.

    8. Would you rather take a road trip or a plane trip?

A6: Road Trip. Heights scare me honestly.

  8. 1. What are your first impressions of how the team is doing so far this season?
A1: I'm very impressed with how the team has started this season. We've earned our spot at the top and now we have to work even harder to hold it.

    2. Congrats to our S89 captains David Jokinen, Mason Jones, and Jake Thunder! In your own opinion, what qualities make a good leader?

A2: I think a good leader knows how to engage and encourage their teammates on and off the ice. I also think it helps if leaders are Loyal to their team and Determined to win.

    3. Our new addition to our defense, Skor McFleury, has already been making waves! What do you think about this acquisition?

A3: Skor has been a great addition to the team so far. He has elite numbers on both ends of the ice and I hope he can keep that energy up all season.

    4. What did your player do during the offseason?

A4: Aside from returning to Canada to be with family and Training. I think Jones read Sun Tzu's Art Of War to prepare his mindset for the season and remembered the "Five Essentials for Victory"

    5. New Ahmacast just dropped! Have you listened yet? (And for Ahma, what was your favorite subject to review during this episode of Ahmacast?)

A5: I have! I really enjoy the Davos player reviews (especially when they talk about my player)

    6. Were you expecting the Vegas Golden Knights to win the Stanley Cup? Why or why not?

A6: I think I doubted them the entire time. I thought they'd lose to every team they faced, and yet they came out on top in every series. Adin Hill really stepped up this season which was unexpected.

    C - Legacy Gaming @Gaming Ringleader
    A - Steve Lattimer @pugsood
    A - Ronald Johnson MacWallace III @RJMW

Legacy Gaming will be returning as Istanbul's captain this season. They had an amazing rookie campaign with the Redwolves being a point-per-game player. We had an excellent end to our season in S88 under Gaming's leadership and I see it only fitting that they would fill the role again this season but this time wearing the C for the entire season.

Steve Lattimer led the Istanbul Redwolves in points last season putting up 85 in his rookie season, which earned them nominations for the Ronan Lavelle Trophy. Needless to say, Steve is a leader on the ice, their presence is felt each game and they'll be a key in Istanbul's success this season.

Ronald Johnson MacWallace III In the VHLM, Ronald proved their dominance early on as they led the Las Vegas Aces in points last season with 88. They wore the A on their jersey then and will continue to do so during their time in Istanbul.

  10. 1. The S89 Draft has concluded and we’re one step closer to the new season! What are your expectations for Davos?

A1: It's my final season before retirement. I'm expecting a long playoff run and hopefully a trophy at the end of it.

    2. What keeps you motivated to earn TPE every week?

A2: The hope that I'll finally win an award or set a record. Right now I'm aiming to be Davos' best playoff player.

    3. VHFL sign ups have just opened up. Will you be participating?

A3: I will not. But I do like to see who gets my player each season.

    4. If you could give one piece of advice to your teammates, what would it be?

A4: You're on one of the best teams with one of the best GM's in the league. Do whatever it takes to stay here as long as possible.

    5. If you could fight any player in the VHL (even one of your own teammates if you want!), who would it be and why?

A5: I think a fight between Jones and Janser would be nice. I have a ton of respect for Janser and I think it'd be a cool event before both players retire.

    8. What was the last concert you’ve been to?
A6: Honestly I've never been a big fan of concerts but my sister and I went to a HEDLEY concert in like 2015 or whenever they were a relevant band.
