  1. I absolutely love reading all these plans for the future of players. Honestly let's be honest who hasn't dreamed of having a popular talk show about whatever it is they truly love. I also like hearing about what you think you should do in the future as a player/GM/AGM in the VHL fully expect whatever you do to do great! As a little tip for making it a little easier to read maybe separate the areas into more defined sections so readers can read it more easily(maybe bold areas or something similar). 9/10

  3. After signing with the Miami Marauders just 3 weeks ago, Yun Chiang has become a fiery player and recently scored 6 goals in one game. Chiang started his first 6 games without any goals and only 4 assists. After his first goal Chiang quickly heated up starting a 14 game point streak. During that streak he became a solid 1st line RW. Chiang also struggled at first on the defensive side of the puck with a low +/- of -9 which may have been a leading factor in how Miami struggled largely in the first quarter of the season. He completely changed his defensive play and currently has a +/- of +11 and is his line allowed no goals in the recent 6-1 loss to Minnesota. Chiang currently has 35 goals and 47 assists placing 15th in league overall point collecting and 15th in overall goal collecting. If Chiang continues his production and Miami's secondary unit can continue to collect the occasional goal, Miami could find themselves in the playoffs.
  4. im not super good, but I can give it a try!
  5. After Yun Chiang’s massive 6 goal 7 point game, we were able to catch with him and ask him a few questions. Great game Chiang, how do you feel about your performance this year? I feel great! I am happy to play here in Miami and I believe that we can find ourselves in the playoffs if we keep playing as we are playing. Have you enjoyed your time in Miami? Yea I have the speed in the US is completely different than in China. I love the feel in the locker room and the feeling of proving people wrong both as a Chinese player and as a team that should not be competing for a playoff spot. As your career marches forward what do you believe you could be doing after your professional hockey career is over? I don’t really know, I guess it depends when my career is over. I would love to play this game for as long as I possibly can, but we will see what happens as time moves. My dream as a kid was to coach the Chinese National Hockey team, so I guess either coaching a Chinese National Hockey team or even managing the Asian team in the World Championship. What makes you want to coach the Chinese National Hockey Team? I want to grow the sport in my home country. China has plenty of kids that could become stars in the VHL, but they just don’t have the coaching available to them. I believe the first step to expanding hockey in China is for a player who played in the VHL to come back to China and coach those kids to their full potential. I also would love to see a VHL, VHLE, or even VHLM team in China to bring more fans to the sport. Are there any other possible jobs you would wish to do? Not really, I really want to return back home and improve hockey in China. I hope one day that I will be able to help do that whether that be as a coach to a national team, a coach of a youth team, or even an equipment manager for a professional team in China. Do you have any extra comments? I actually do, after this current season I will be going back to China and will be hosting a youth training camp for Chinese citizens under 16. The training camp will be occurring the same days as all of the VHL drafts, so these kids will get to see a player to hopefully get drafted into the highest level of hockey. I hope that this will become a yearly activity as I grow older and I hope it will be a stepping stone into my dream job as coach of the Chinese National Hockey Team. Thank you for your time Chiang. Thank you for having me! Yun Chiang has performed very well over the last few games, slowly moving up to 14th in goals on the season after joining the Miami Marauders part way through the season. 6. Worn on October the 6th Miami wore these Jerseys in an attempt to raise awareness for Cerebral Palsy.
  7. Hype videos and stories from previous seasons as well
  8. It is very nice to read some of the backstory behind who your play is. I am very excited to read some more stories on Armani's parents. 9/10
  9. Always nice to read about the team you are apart of! I enjoyed reading what you think about how our season has gone so far, but I think the best way you could of improved this is by separating the players and having separate sections for each player. Other than that great article 8/10
  10. The Miami Marauders who are undoubtedly rebuilding currently, but they have signed many names throughout the season to but them on the cusp of securing a playoff spot. Of the players who played in Miami's opening game only one of those players is still playing. Unsurprisingly Miami started off the season very poorly going 2-8 in their firth 10 games. Currently Miami holds a 8-15 record meaning in their last 13 games they have gone 6-7. This massive difference comes in the players they have been playing in their last few games. Currently Miami is playing 7 players including 5 forwards 1 defensemen and a goalie. Goaltender Juha Jarvinen has played 6 games with two strong games only allowing two goals. Miami still struggles on the defensive side of the puck with only D man Xiaoping Benguin Dinghao Sonei playing the blue line. Of course this struggle defensively has led to an increased amount of shots going towards the net so it is possible as the defense improves Juha Jarvinen's stats will improve. Offensively Yun Chiang has looked incredibly strong with a great 5 game point streak. It is possible as the season continues we may see Miami sneak into the 8th/7th spot and secure themselves a spot in the playoffs where anything can happen. @Ninjadude @Collusion
  11. I love hearing the story of how Leduc handles gameday, but it might be helpful to do was Masu Chan said and run your media spot through Google Docs with Grammarly. Grammarly is free on the chrome store and it really helps improve writing. 8/10
  12. I love the attempt to put some ideas behind what has happening in Mexico City, but I think it would be interesting to see some of the stats and maybe just focus on 5 players and explain what they are doing good and what they could be improving on. 7/10
  13. 1. We need to improve our ability in the defensive zone, but that needs to come from everyone on the team. 2. I believe that I am improving my ability on the ice. Coming from China the speed difference is incredibly different, but I am excited to finally see some results! 3. It is hard to tell. If we can keep playing the way we are playing we have a good opportunity to get ourselves in a playoff spot. Having a goalie doesn't mean we need to change how we play though we have to put him in the same position we would have before.
  14. Yun Chiang: A Player from an Unlikely Location Yun Chiang was born in Chaohu, China to his parents Feng Chiang and Li Chiang. His parents had enough money that they were able to travel the world, and his father’s favorite location to visit was Vancouver, Canada. This love for Vancouver led to his family visiting Canada often enough that Yun would begin to love watching hockey. One year he asked his parents to buy him hockey gear so he could play hockey. Yun Chiang put on skates for the first time when he was 7. His mother tells the story of how he couldn’t even get up for the first two days, but as time went on his skating got better and in just a week he was waddling around the ice with a stick in his hands. Chiang brought his new skates and all his gear his father bought him during that trip and he would take them to his local ice rink. In Chauhu, the ice rink was nearly entirely for speed skating and figure skating, but after getting a group of 20 kids together Yun was able to convince the owners of the facility to allow hockey on the ice for 4 hours every week. Yun would never miss single minute that he was able to play hockey on that ice and the more he played the better he got. When Yun was 12, a Chinese youth hockey team invited him to play as they visited Mongolia for a regional tournament. In his first competitive game, Yun scored 3 goals and 2 assists proving that he may just have what it takes to play professional hockey. After hearing of Yun’s success in Mongolia, his parents decided that he should spend a season in Sweden in order to play at a higher level just to see how well he could perform. Chiang spend his 15th birthday in Sweden playing in a youth league, but he was able to win the award for most goals in the season with 41 in 80 games. Yun Chiang may just be a professional hockey player. Soon after coming back to China, Chiang played for the Chinese Men’s Youth Hockey team and traveled the world playing national teams. The Chinese team was historically terrible, but Chiang was a diamond in the rough throughout his tenure with the team. In an effort to increase Chinese hockey, the Chinese government gave permission to the best 3 players in the CMYHT to play in the VHL and the VHL affiliate leagues. Chiang waited a short time before he would get on that plane and move to the US and sign with the Miami Marauders.
  15. The Miami Marauders have had a recent hot streak. This hot streak has been led by Mix Bag OChips, Jeremy D, and Yun Chiang. Yun Chiang has collected 14 points in just the last 8 games. Miami currently sits in 3rd in their division 9 points behind the 2nd place Minnesota Storm. The Marauders have ridden a very successful faceoff circle and powerplay in the last 10 games in which they have won 6. The team has had a large gap above 50% on the faceoff and sit around 20% on the power play. These factors have helped them won their last three games. The hype is not lost in the Marauders locker room as the players think they could be contenders this year if they can find a goaltender and some D men. Only time will tell as the players continue their work on and off the ice in hopes of just getting some more wins.
  16. 1. How important is it for you to find a spot on the ice in Seattle this coming year? 2. Are you excited to be apart of Seattle's organization? 3. Where do you see yourself in 5 seasons? Do you think you can be a top player in the league or do you hope to just be a roleplayer?
  17. Yun Chiang takes a seat ready to answer any questions you may have to ask!
  18. This past week Yun Chiang signed and played his first few games with the Miami Marauders. Chiang is an export from China looking to break his way into the VHL and has had mixed results in his first few games with his first few games. Game 1: Miami Marauders vs. Mississauga Hounds In Chiang’s first game he played 25:52 of which 1:16 was on the PP and 4:10 was on the PK. Chiang had 4 shots none of which found the net and collected one hit. Chiang’s +/- for the game was -2. Chiang however was successful in the faceoff circle winning 66% of his faceoffs. Final Score MIA - 2 ; MIS - 4 Game 2: Miami Marauders @ Philadelphia Reapers In Chiang’s second game, he played 24:09 and 5:30 on the PP. Yun Chiang was once again was successful in the faceoff circle winning 60% of his faceoff appearances. Chiang shot 3 times and could not find the back of the net. Chiang scored two hits in the Reapers route against the Marauders. Chiang’s game +/- was -2. Final Score MIA - 2 ; PHI - 7 Game 3: Miami Marauders vs. Halifax 21st Chiang’s third game was another uneventful game with a +/- of -2. Yun Chiang had 5 shots and 2 hits with a 40 faceoff%. Final Score MIA - 5 ; HFX - 4 Game 4: Miami Marauders vs Yukon Rush The Yukon Rush walked on top of the Marauders in their 11-1 route over them. In this game, Chiang also struggled with no notable stats besides a +/- of -4 and a 0 for 4 in the faceoff circle. Final Score MIA - 1 ; YUK - 11 Game 5: Miami Marauders @ Halifax 21st The Marauders traveled to Halifax where Chiang played 25:32. Chiang had an uneventful game until the 3rd period at 17:14 when Warren sent a pass to Chiang who ripped it home for his first professional hockey goal. Yun Chiang also had 33% in the faceoff circle. Final Score MIA - 2 ; HFX - 5 Game 6: Miami Marauders vs. Philadelphia Reapers After scoring his first goal, Chiang continued his hot streak helping his team in a different way with 3 assists, 1 primary, and 2 secondaries. Chiang also gained 2 PIM on a tripping call in the 3rd period. Final Score MIA - 5 ; PHI - 2 Game 7: Miami Marauders @ Las Vegas Aces In his 7th game, Chiang had no interesting stat lines beside his 4 for 4 in the faceoff circle. Final Score MIA - 1 ; LVA - 2 Game 8: Miami Marauders @ Saskatoon Wild Chiang’s most recent game was a massive game for him. Chiang started his game with a secondary assist to Charlie Frazier at 7:46 in the first period on the power play. In the second period, Chiang continued his hot streak scoring the second goal of his career at 12:44 with an assist from Warren. Chiang played in overtime where he had his second secondary assist to Warren just 1:47 into the first Overtime period. This was also Chiang’s first game where he had a positive +/- with a +/- of 2. Final Score MIA - 5 ; SSK - 4 (OT) Overall Rating - B- Chiang has helped his team on the offensive end, but has only blocked 5 shots in 8 games and has a season +/- of -9. Chiang really must tighten up defensively if he wants to begin climbing the draft ladder.
  19. Today Chinese hockey player Yun Chiang landed in Washington D.C. after a long flight from Chaohu, China. Chiang, 17, is landed in Washington without a contract from any hockey team but is in contact to attempt to ink a deal with a team this week. Chiang was born in Chaohu where he has lived his entire life, but when given the opportunity to play in North America he knew he had to take it. Chiang has played hockey since he was 9 after his family took a vacation to Sweden. Throughout his childhood, he was forced to travel both throughout China and throughout Asia in an attempt to find teams. He was discovered by his agent Tyler Young an American out of Miami at a tournament in Tokyo. Young has stated that he believes that Chiang will have to work hard to adapt to the more competitive game, but he can adapt and he will succeed with any team that offers him a contract. Yun’s father came to America with him wearing a New York Americans Jersey, when asked why he was wearing the jersey he simply replied with “Americans are Yun’s favorite team we all hope he can play just one game for them.” Yun does have a very long journey before he has the opportunity to play in the VHL, but that journey begins now with his attempts to find a VHLM team to sign with. Chiang will likely spend this season in the VHLM while trying to adapt to the better play in the North American leagues. We got to talk to Chiang after he landed. “Good afternoon Chiang how was your flight?” Hello, I had a good flight very long though. I am excited to be in America though. “Are there any teams you would like to join in the VHLM?” I would like to play near my agent Tyler, but I just want to get the skates on and start playing. “Young’s office is in Miami have you received a contract offer from the Marauders?” I don’t know if I can say that, but I would like to play for the Marauders. “Do you think a larger Chinese presence in hockey will help expand the sport in your home country?” I am not really sure. I only wanted to play hockey after seeing the Yukon Rush play when I was a kid. I really hope one day we can see some exhibition games in my home country. “When it comes to hockey what do you think is your biggest strength?” I think my biggest strength is my skating. It is really the only thing I could work on every day. The rink in my hometown was only open for hockey 3 days a week, so I was forced to only skate the majority of days. I do think that my skating ability will be the strongest part of my game in the future. “What do you believe will be the hardest part of your pro hockey career?” I think that I may struggle with trying to adapt to the play style these teams play. I hope i can play at their level though. After our conversation, Chiang left to talk to his agent about his future in the VHLM. I wish Chiang the best of luck in his career.
