Hello everyone! I’m back. Now this week we’re celebrating 15 years of this league. Mind you that this league is the same age as me which makes me feel really young and basically everyone else here who’s been from the start are pretty old. So rather than actually talking to some old people I’ll take the easier route and just find some records to talk about. Since my absolute favourite category in the league is shots blocked, I will be talking about the shots blocked record across the league, trust me this is going to be good. Now this record is a very interesting one. Unlike many records around the league, this record has been set just 2-3 seasons ago by none other than Creed @assassin6898. This record is an enormous 460 shots blocked in a season. For reference, the next placed person has 325 shots blocked and this was all the way back in S37. To give you a scale for this season, in first place is none other than myself (at time of writing JUL 23rd, 3:46 EST). In second place is @DeeGoat(Same amount, more games), and in third place is @hockeyis66(3 less blocked shots, 1 less game). If I go in the same pace for the rest of the season, I would have 232 shots blocked, this is HALF of what Creed had. This record is looking unbreakable at the moment, we have to wait for a build which can have a historic run and break this record. Now you may be wondering, well this record was so recent there has to be a way to beat this, it doesn’t seem that hard does it. Well you’re really wrong and I’ll tell you why. First of all, the way TPE is earned has been changed drastically from when this record happened. One of the best ways to do this record is to cut down on every single stat except checking, physical and defence which is nearly impossible in the modern game. This stat is also hard to break because, you have to be on a pretty bad/rebuilding team since more shots means more possible shots which you can block. Another requirement is that you’re a defensemen because you’re the first one to get in your zone, and because of how the simulation works. Along with all of this, you need to be good enough on your team to be getting first pairing minutes. Doing this all together is super hard as depending on when you get into the league, you have a high chance of not going to a bad team along with many different factors. If you do ALL of this then you’ll need one last thing which is a lot of luck. Creed had many down seasons before getting this record and there is a chance that you’ll need a lot of luck for this like what Creed had. After all that, I wish you are successful and I wish you good luck. Now that we have discussed how to do this, and also why this is basically impossible, we should see when you should try this. This must be between your rookie and prime years that way regression doesn’t hurt you. Last thing you have to make sure is to be in the better division as getting blocks are easier when you’re in a better division and you’re the worst. I think doing all this is a good shot at getting you that record. Other than this, I’d like to see you get this record and this is Dabnad Shaw, signing off once again. 600 words (coincidence I promise) Week ending Jul 24

Hello everyone! It’s been a long while. Today, I was at home, bored doing absolutely nothing but watching TV when I got this message from a friend. He started calling me the weirdest nicknames which gave me the outstandingly terrible idea to write a VHL article about nicknames. So now, I’ll be taking some current players (mainly leaders of stats for the season) and giving them a nickname describing them. What I’ll be doing is using the very top player as of Tuesday, July 5th 2022 at 9:49 PM EST since that’s when I’m writing this article. Without further delay, let’s get on with some names for your favourite players! Assists: Hard Markinson @STZ Now, I could ether make around twelve different types of jokes with this name giving him the name “Alabama King” or “King of the Queens” but I’ll give them a slightly sensible name to make sure that they don’t get mad at me at the end. After all, this is meant to be fun and not insulting. So the name I decided to go with at the end was “Slap Shot pointer”. Get it? Hard shot aka slap shot (deflections hence the assists) and mark(inson) (for shooting from the point) can be the point? I have no other explanation for this so from now on, we call him Slap Shot Pointer. Goals: Nico Pearce @Spartan Spartan came on this list faster than expected! Only took him 2 paragraphs. Now, this is a fairly uncreative name which is why I’ll be going with the most definitely simple and not at all unique name of “Piercer”. This will be because when the puck goes off the stick, it pierces the goalie to go in the net. Sometimes, it even pierces the netting which results in the stadium management being mad at them but hey, make better netting. From now on, we refer to Mr. Pearce to Piecer. Points: Hard Markinson Same thing as assists, not a hard choice from my side, we shall continue from this one. Plus-Minus: Baby Bob @Baby Boomer This one was a wee bit tough for me to think, plus minus isn’t the most important stat (according to me) and finding a name for it isn’t easy as well. After five minute of me thinking about this, I thought of the name “One plus One”. This, along with the great meaning of their name, can mean that the plus keep adding up until it becomes super high. If you know the other meaning, you know. Shots Blocked: Dabnad Shaw @Dabnad Ah this one hits close to the heart, I get to choose a name for myself. With this opportunity for being the first man to get an opportunity to name themselves and choose what the other general public gets to call them, I desire my name to be put into as the “hung shawl”. Along with my last name already have been used (by a great I’m definitely not complaining), the term “the wall” is probably better suited for the great goalie. A hung shawl can have many different symbolic meanings, it looks simple to go through, but when you try you realize that going through requires more strength. Hits: Druss Deathwalker @animal74 Yet another player that hits close to heart, however, I think that his name already has his nickname. Like comeon, “The Walking death” is perfect for this situation, someone who can hit the person in any minute, a strong player who can injure you for weeks, he’s essentially a walking death machine. Don’t think I need any more comments here. I think I’ve done all the main categories, you have PIMS and stuff but they can mostly be adjusted between these categories. Be sure to rate my nicknames, and put a petition to rename everyone here to those names. After a very long time, this is Dabnad Shaw, singing off, and see you soon everyone! 654 words Claim week ending July 10th

Please don’t, if you do I will be named as the “forever cursed”

Hey everyone! I’m back after a long time. This theme week we’re talking about the appreciation of members around the league. Now to say the least I think I have some type of curse going around, I was in Mexico and @youloser1337decides to walk of as the gm of the team (I’m still mad at you for this). I have to appreciate for him for first guiding me through the league and making me a decent prospect. I’ll stay great full for him no matter what happens to my carrer, I’m still angry for you leaving gmship. The second person (well people) I’d like to thank this week are @comrade catand @Arce. If you were on Mexico at any time of the season you’d know why. These two people are just like my brothers and have helped me the entire time I have been in the VHL. These two have huge contributions in making me, me. Arce and Boris are both key parts inside my VHL carrer. As @Lemorse7once said we’re the “three mousquetaires”. These two members of the VHL must be the prime reason you see this article which I why these lines can’t say how much I appreciate them being in my VHL carrer. Next up, we have @Minion. Now Mr. Minion has also retired a bit (my amazing curse). I despise him along with @youloser1337for leaving gmship this early however, I understand that they have lives outside the UHL and I respect their choice. Mr. Minion has been another key choice. I appreciate him drafting me in a stage of my carrer where no one knew if I would be able to do anything. Even if I had a fast start, there was no guarantee that this would last the entire stage of my carrer. I also appreciate every single person that even considered drafting me as it did working out for me in the long term. Third on the list of GMs we have @Dom. Now Dom is a great gm. 99% of the things I said for Minion apply to Dom as well. I appreciate the draft from him in the early stages of my carrer. Dom is an overall just great leader and guy and very chill and cool to talk with. The fifth person I would like to appreciate is @Lemorse7. Lemorse has always been an encouraging role in my VHL carrer no matter the circumstances and I think that he’s one of the three reasons I’m still in this league. Lemorse is great with his words and a promising human. If Arce and Boris are the feet and hands, then Youloser is the brain, Minion is the body organs and Dom and Lemorse are the combined backbone of this journey. I really don’t think that without these members, I could’ve achieved anything inside of this league. Apart from the individual appreciations, I would also like to jointly appreciate every single person that has made this league possible, weather it be the commissioners of this league, or those who spend their time manually looking at each and every request for updates. I also want to appreciate every single gm of the three leagues, without them, this league wouldn’t be possible. The last person I would like to appreciate is the person I found this league from. To my memory, I joined the league from a YouTube advert some time ago. I think that this has changed the course of my personal life for the better. At the end, I think that everyone deserves the chance to be appreciative and everyone deserves the chance to be appreciated. Everyone has done something for someone in their life and deserves a chance. Anyways, this is Dabnad once again signing off and hoping to see you guys soon next time. 633 words Week ending May 29th

1. I do have many goals for next season but one of my biggest goal to to become more active, I have stopped being a bit active due to school however, I think I can get back on track 2. Mexico since it was my own VHLM team 3. I think dabeli (Indian food) with sev and maggi sauce is really good to eat since it’s not heavy and filling as well 4. None I’m vegetarian hence I can’t choose 5. I don’t think it’s a good thing and I’m really happy that it’s going away because it forces the defence to get better while the offense can chill 6. I’m scared he’ll bite me jokes aside I think that you’re an amazing addition to the squad and an overall great agm at the moment

Hey everyone, I’m back for the week! This week we will be learning about how to coach GMS. As someone who has never GMed you should probably take my word like a grain of salt but this is my best understanding of how to be a GM and what you should do as a GM. Remember, this is just my understanding and most likely very far from the truth. Other than that I’ll be stating some obvious things and some not-so obvious things in the article. After that, we can start this article which was very overdue for me. Remember that this is a very poor guide for new GMs I’m not the expert here but this may give you a rough idea of what to do. 1. Making Lines I think that this is one of the more obvious ones out of the list however, making lines is something which is the GM’s most important job. Making lines can break the best team and make the worst team depending on how the team is made. For example, putting the backup start a lot while making lines can hurt your team while having your first line forward not play enough minutes will often hurt your team as well. Making lines are a big art which many people think they’re amazing at however, often don’t get enough support and don’t have enough experience to be perfect. 2. Motivating the Team This is another one of the obvious ones which is actually hard to implement in the real world. This is something the GM has to do no matter how good or bad their team is. A GM must know how to keep moral high to help stopping trades in their team and to help stop too many people from asking for trades, a GM must know how their team views the game weather it be from a winning point of view of the loyalty point of view. This is another one of the things which looks easy but becomes hard because if you end up over promising, the objective can fire back at you hurting you more than helping you. 3. Contacting the Heads This is a thing which every GM must know. A GM must be able to talk with the heads of the league without being inferior of the heads and have strong bonds with the heads. This is a reason why many teams with older and experienced GM can get a bit more out of the top rather than the new GMs. This may feel like bias however, this is a very true thing which you can’t change no matter what you say as a result of the bonding created by experience. 4. Making trades This is one of the hardest things in the job of a GM inside this league is making trades. When you start making trades, it can often demoralize the team however, this is one thing which is very important, trading players is something no GM wants to do however, you have to be harsh sometimes and if you’re not harsh, it can cause a lot of harm in the long term for the team. Now I know that these aren’t a lot of thing however, according to me these are the 4 most important things you must do as a GM. Granted there are a lot more things which you have to do however, these are the most important in my eyes. Also did I do this because of the new job in Toronto and I thought of this? Of course I did this because of the new job in Toronto. @comrade catdid inspire me in this after he had to support 4 people in the job. Anyways, it’s Dabnad signing off until next time. 632 words

1. I think we definitely need to slightly improve our defensive core (I’m most definitely working on that) and a slightly better goalie, we also may need a bit more depth in our lines so we’re like the EDM of the VHLE. 2. Seriously we can’t do anything but try our best and hope we can come out with the win more often than not, we’re definitely improving by the game however. 3. Something we can, and should, do is pass the puck more to Perry than the other way round, we need him to shoot however, he can (and possibly will) come out victorious. 4. I think that a good balanced combination of a solid top line defensive pair along with some extra depth and we’re a golden team. 5. Rrrrrrrrrome! Thanks to @comrade catwe’ve built up a good ol’ shoot out game against the team, great team. We’re also neighbours so yea 6. Plane, walkie talkie (or any communication method), pilot, GPS, rations (if the plane doesn’t come with fuel burn the rations)

Hello everyone and welcome to my talkshow(article). Today we’ll be looking at the theme of the week since I really need to improve my defence.. I mean to tell everyone the best players of all time! Since it’s my first year in this league and I have no idea who is who we’ll be looking at a current VHLE dream team (copyrighted) looking at raw stats. 15 skaters and No goalies will be chosen (no goalies because “best” goalies can be subjective) based on current stats (true of Thursday February the 24th 6:17 pm give or take the time it took me to write this). Let’s start! First Line Our first line will be consisting of goal scorers and a 2 great playmaker. Our first player (our left winger) will be, drumroll please, Pekko Viitanen! This was an obvious one, number one points scorer with a large amount of points who will be our play maker and coincidentally a left winger! On to our right winger who will be Mats Zucarello! Mats is the number goal scorer right now and was destined to be on the first line. Our center for the first line will be, my teams very own, Perry Laperriere! Second in assists and fifth in points one of the best centres for the VHLE for the moment. So far our first like is looking like: Pekko Viitanen - Perry Laperriere - Mats Zucarello So let’s look at our top defensive pairing! For defence, rather than looking for just points we should look for good physicality in a player. This will help us in agression in the long run. So for our top defensive pairing, let’s take the easy way and look at the most points (by a long shot) in any defence man, who I like to call Mr. Australia, Zeljko Ranogajec! (That took a shaming amount of attempts to write I’m sorry). This was a obvious choice for the defence bringing good experience to the team along with a good skill set. The player playing in hand to hand with this Australian player is a very unexpected one, Cameron Elsby. I’ve chosen Cameron after careful thinking. The reason I’ve chosen him over the many others is a result of him playing very well all round. With a point per game along with 190+ hits and 100+ Shots blocked he’s a perfect asset on the defence while contributing up the ice. So far our team is looking amazing, Pekko Viitanen - Perry Laperriere - Mats Zucarello On the top line along with Zeljko Ranogajec - Cameron Elsby on the top pair! Now that the first line is done and the first pairing is done I don’t think that explaining all the people is worth, for the offensive lines most of them will be following a 2 playmaker, 1 goal scorer, or a 2 goal scorer, 1 playmaker format while the defence will be following a 1 agresser, 1 point maker or 2 point maker pattern. Other than that, let’s get on with it. (I will be making 3 offensive lines only since 4 offensive lines will be too much for the sake of salary) Pekko Viitanen - Perry Laperriere - Mats Zucarello On the first line, great bunch of people and some amazing prospects, will be getting 40% of ice time Ronan Lavelle -Johnny Xavier - Mikhail Lospenov another bunch of great prospects, 30% ice time Jason Coiner - Jlloyoid Blloyoiderson - Raihan Heavems Some prospects, some not, 30% ice time Now the defence Zeljko Ranogajec - Cameron Elsby X Man - The Loch Ness Monster Artair McCloud- Mr Duk I think that this would be one of the best current VHLE teams and you may think otherwise however, I think this is perfect. Nothing else from me (for now) and I’ll see you next week soon. Signing off, Dabnad until next time!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my second episode (yes this is becoming a series deal with it) of how to do things inside of hockey, this week we learn how to pass the puck! To pass the puck you need 3 main things. First you need to know the basics of stick handling (possibly the next article ). The reason you need to know how to handle the sticks before you pass is so you know how to handle the puck. Next you’re gonna need to know how to shoot (check my first article). This is because passing (in the most basic of it’d form) is the exact same thing as shoot but often with a lot less power. The last thing you need to know is how to hold a stick (also explained in the shooting article). This is one of the obvious ones in this list. So let’s see what we must do. First handle the puck in a way so the puck is right in front of the stick. Next attempt taking a shoot (same steps as before) but this time rather than using all your force, reduce the force you implement. If done right you can do a basic pass now!

Chess and hockey are two sports that you’d never think would even be remotely connected for the average person. Hockey is a game of sheer power and movement along with speed while chess requires nothing related from the neck down, rather chess is only played from above the neck and with the hands. However, what if I told you that chess and hockey when in their most basic form, can be the same thing. You might think I’m crazy but as you may know from my other posts, I don’t go with anything easy to write so let’s start with how chess and hockey are, in theory, related. (Side note before I start: all of these may end up being debunked by someone and this is just taken as a way to connect these two separate sports. Please don’t pull this up in front of your friends as they’ll probably think you’re weird if you say this) Point One My first point on this absurd connection is about positioning. Both of these wildly different sports have one thing in common: the positioning for every piece in the game is one of the (if not The) most important things in the game. For example, two great hockey players behind their own net at the same time are equal to no good players (unless you’re JT Miller) while a decent hockey player in the perfect position at the perfect time can easily get a goal if the puck comes right at them. This shows why positioning is so important in hockey but what about chess? Chess is a sport where the position of a piece can make or break your game. The position of the queen can change the outcome of the game in literal minutes if the other person doesn’t counter the piece. I think nearly all chess players (including me) have experienced a time when you’re about to win the game but then they get the rook on your side (when it was in a perfect position) and end up mating you. Point Two My second point about this situation of how these two sports are somehow and somewhat connected is the fact that both of these sports are one of few where the game is about reading the other players mind. In hockey, especially as a net minder, you have to know what the skater will do, how they’ll do it, and what you can do to counter whatever they do. In chess, you have to see what the other player will do and you have to know what the other player knows of what you know (gets more complicated the more you read it) to figure out what the best thing you can do without putting yourself in a position which will damage your game in the somewhat future. This part of the game also has people most confused as they don’t have to think just one or two moves ahead, however, they have to look the entire game ahead. This is why I’m chess there’s a saying that a decent chess player looks 3 moves ahead, a good player looks 5 ahead, and the best player looks for the whole game. In hockey they say that reading your opponents mind is as important as the skill needed to execute the play. Point Three My third, and last, point of why these two sports are identical is that both of these sports have something close to Escher other which most team sports don’t have. This thing is unique to these two sports, and the thing is the important of a single piece or player. You’ll see that in hockey the goalie is thought to be one of the most important pieces of the game. Most successful teams, such as the Tampa Bay Lightning, have a good to great goaltender which helps them stay in the game when the rest of the team is out. For Tampa this is Vasy, for Carolina this is Anderson. Not having a good goaltender destroys teams no matter how good the rest of the team is, we can see this in Edmonton. In chess the most important piece is the king. This is one sport that has one player (or piece) depended upon itself. You see in basketball that not having a single player will definitely hurt you, but if the other 4 players are strong enough, they can face the 5. The same goes for soccer where if the 10 other players can keep the ball far enough, they can win the game. In hockey this is basically impossible to do which is also why the goalie in a game of hockey is also like the king inside of a game of chess. This shows that the king and the goaltender are the same, the goaltender can also be considered the king for a team and sometimes they’re also the king in the team of kings (cough @comrade catcough). This comparison may seem weird and unnecessary, and it is considering the fact that many people, including my very sister, believe that chess itself isn’t a sport. To counter that I say that chess requires mental stress which can (and often will) result into physical stress. It’s also my article so you can’t do anything about that. I also think that hockey is a big thing in the physical department comparative to chess in the mental department making it nice and even. Other than that I think that these 2 sports can be known as polar opposites sometimes and sometimes, I’d agree. Chess is a game of sheer mind and logic while hockey is a game of power, agility, and skill. I’ve also heard that some people don’t like chess due to its high lack of any physical activity but they have to realise that chess can help you in sports when thinking about positions (point one) and logic in a sport which you play. The last thing I’d like to say before I sign off and meet you again in a week or two is that both of these sports can help you in opposite departments such as intelligence, reflexes, strength, and positioning. Other than all that big ending paragraph (I didn’t mean for it to be so big) I think that’s it from me this week so it’s Dabnad Shaw signing off until, next time, see you soon! 1068 words Week ending Feb 20,27

Time for a review: I like the font which you made the text inside of the picture in because it looks agressive such as the name of the player. I also like the fact that the player has a shadow on him implying that there is something in front of him which is making the shadow. The third thing which I liked in the picture was the golden background which is identical to the jersey of the player. One thing which I didn’t like however was the S being hidden behind the player. Other than that, it’s a great article. 9/10
