  1. Name: Dabnad Shaw Age: 19 Position: Defense Height: 6’4” Weight: 198 lbs. Place of Birth: Mumbai, India Dabnad Shaw is a well sized defenseman mostly known for his hockey IQ and high aggression levels. He is thought to be known as a very good defensive player who doesn’t think twice before he gets in front of the puck. He’s a fast paced player with a lot of discipline for someone his age. He’s also one of few players who isn’t ever lacking in a game of hockey and he makes sure that every play he’s in is a strong play with a good chance. In this report we’ll go over some of his pros and cons of this defensive player. With him playing in free agency in the first season pre debut, he hasn’t disappointed his team in the slightest bit. PROS Passing Dabnad Shaw has always known for passing the puck around the rink making very good plays around the season including some plays which might be called in the highlight reel. He isn’t afraid to pass the puck even if he’s in a very risky place giving him an advantage over players which don’t pass as well Blocking Blocking has always been the biggest reason why Shaw is in the league itself. He’s a wall right in front of the puck many times even if he somehow is injured on the shift. He doesn’t know what being scared of the puck is as he records one of the highest blocks in any team he goes into Checking Being a defensive player, this was bound to happen. He is a very calm person when he’s on the ice which really helps him strip a player out of the puck and even just raw checking. He can also take the puck from a player without a sweat thanks to his high hockey IQ along with support from his other teammates CONS Shooting While being one of the best passers in the game, he is a very poor shooter that plays the game. This could be a result of him paying attention to his other features a lot more than shooting however, shooting could be told as his weakest points in his entire game with minimal shooting and even when he shoots, it’s often weak and possibly never goes in. Fighting Being a calm player, he doesn’t often get into fights however, when he does get into fights he often loses them. As a big d-man you wouldn’t expect this from him however, Shaw doesn’t like fighting as he knows that it could very well ruin his game. This doesn’t help the fact that many times, players will try invoking him knowing that he doesn’t like to fight and often falls for it Penalty Time As said, Shaw doesn’t like fighting however, he ends up in the box a bit more than most other players in a game. This is possibly because of his agressive mindset however, this really drags his team down in moments where it’s not possible to kill a penalty Shaw is a very promising player no matter what you think about him however, he can be a risk on his penalty time and lack of shooting giving a poor outlook for him unless he decides to pick his shooting a bit of pick up. Shaw is expected to be a top 20 draft pick if he can keep his progress doing as it is at the moment
  2. Dabnad Shaw6'4" 198 POUNDSBaroda, India Born in Gujarat inside of India, Dabnad Shaw was one of few people who liked playing hockey in India. Many people, including field hockey selectors, saw Shaw’s raw ability to play the puck and strip the puck away from some of the best field hockey players. Shaw had great ability in every aspect of the field except one: agility. He was the biggest field hockey player which very severely destroyed his ability to beat shorter and faster players on his feet. When he turned 13, his parents surprised him by sending him and his friend (whose birthday was also on the same day) to Canada for an entire month. During Shaw’s stay in Canada he saw people on ice with sticks whose sport looked exactly like field hockey. When he inquired about the sport he learnt what ice hockey was and how to play it. Shaw spent the rest of his stay there learning how to skate and played hockey on the ice. Soon enough, when he had to leave, he was sent off with many people he’d met inside the rink. When he went back to India, he learned that his family was moving to Delhi due to a promotion his dad got inside of this job. When he moved to Delhi, he started going to the Delhi ice skating club where he ended up improving his skating even more to the point where he was one of the fastest ever players seen on ice. On his 15th birthday, he asked his parents if he can move to Canada with his friend forever and ended up getting slapped on the face. This encouraged the inner-rebel of Shaw and he left his parents for his grand-parents who fueled his ambition to become one of the first Indian ice-hockey players of all time. He left India at the age of 16 and lived with his grandfather’s old friend who had moved to Canada. In high-school, many selectors called him the next big hockey player considering how agile such a big player can be. He optimized every chance he ever got and in his first year of college, he got to be known as the “Indian smacker”. On his 18th birthday he went back to India and he met his parents putting a very emotional moment with him and his parents. His dad later promised that he’ll figure out a way to fund the remaining money that Shaw needed to fulfill his dreams of becoming a professional ice-hockey player. Going into the hockey season, he was known as one of the best players that touched the ice of the UBC (University of British Columbia) and he was supported by many players to become the best hockey player in existence with his outstanding defensive ability and his agile movement. He later signed with New Mexico during free-agency before becoming draft-eligible the next season. He adopted #13 in respect to his dad (born March 13th), mom (born November 13th) and his friend who supported him the entire way (who was born on April 13).
  3. 1) Since it's not been too long since you've joined the league, what are thoughts on the league so far as a whole? I mean, as you’ve said I haven’t been in this league for long however, right off the bat I can see that it’s a combination of a well maintained league with many many friendly people 2) Are there any areas in the league that you would like to see a change/improvement? One thing is the ease to post and complete tasks to earn points as I’m still trying to figure out how to reply and post however, it’s most likely a result of me being new so I can’t complain. 3) The VHLM Newsletter launched earlier this week, did you read it and was it helpful to you? Sorry, I haven’t read the newsletter 4) What are your aims this season in the VHLM? My sim is to progress onto a decent player inside the league and help my team progress into the cup 5) With the teams starting to take shape, who do you consider to be the favourite for the VHLM Founders Cup? Ottawa are looking cup favorites for the moment 6a) Is there any player on your VHL team that you're particularly looking forward to playing with when you make the VHL? (For players who were also in the VHL Draft) no, I’ve come in the league recently and was not apart of the VHL draft 6b) What do you think of your current VHLM team? (If you were selected in the VHLM Draft) I signed with the team and think I could help the team progress into a very well formed team 6c) If a GM were to make you an offer, what kind of player would they be getting? (If you're currently unaffiliated). Well, I have already signed with New Mexico however, I think they’re getting an amazing defensive player that will help stop most goals that go his way
