  1. Very true, just hope Punjab doesn’t waste all their money on a single player
  2. Ah that makes it harder, excited for auction?
  3. Everyone knows that the first round pick and first overall pick is the biggest thing which you could obtain in a trade for a draft which you acquire but what if it isn’t? What if rather than a first round pick we give a proven prospect. We can look at the pros and cons of having a top prospect against a high overall pick. Let’s look at this down below. First Overall When you get a first overall pick, you have a chance of obtaining a very good player which will play for a longer time, assuming that the player doesn’t end up being a bust, and this player will have a higher chance to be good if the scouting is good. Top Prospect One thing which happens when you get a top prospect is when you have less years on the contract along with a player who’s value is decreasing every single year. Against this is the common argument that a pick has a lot higher chance of being a bust than a prospect who has already proven himself. This all basically says that a top prospect is a lot better if you’re looking for a lower risk-lower reward statement while a pick is better if you’re someone who like the risk. Again, the odds change with good and bad scouting but again, a trade with a prospect and first could be a win-win and a lose-lose at the same time.
  4. Sadly, I focused on Europe
  5. 1. I think that this trade was pretty decent for both sides. We gave up a first round picks and two good prospects but we got a very good player in both the locker room and on the ice, I’d say the trade was fairly balanced for both sides. 2. Yes, Perry and the new people (including me) have made the team a very good team and I think that the team as a very good chance of winning. 3. There is a chance but the thing is, we don’t know what could happen. We could’ve traded two Gretzky’s or we could’ve gotten one, none the less I think that this trade was very well done and it was very good for both sides. 4. I think that the signing is great, we needed some player to help us and this addition might have just been the perfect fit for our team right now. 5. I don’t think I would’ve made a too big deal at the moment seeing that we have a very positive future incoming for this year and the next, 6. As a Canucks fan, I don’t want to see JT Miller to go. However one person I do want to see leave is Poolman. So I say Tucker Poolman for a second and a high level AHL player would be a good deal for us.
  6. In the VHL, we know that there are already a lot of teams in the league. However, if we were to have more teams, where should we put them. We would most likely be excepting somewhere in Europe or North America which would be logical but today, I’ll be exploring 3 places that make sense and 3 that most people wouldn’t expect on this list. Without any further delay, let’s start this up. (Note the first 3 will be the excepted ones and the last three will be the less excepted ones.) 1. Madrid Masters Madrid is a city inside of Europe which is mostly underrated. Many people don’t think about it when they think of hockey but what if the VHL brought hockey to Spain and because of that, maybe even Portugal. These two countries inside of the Iberian peninsula have a huge part that hockey hasn’t explored yet which we could, and should, definitely explore. I also think that this team will be a huge step to making this country a hub for hockey and possibly the home of many hidden players. 2. Berlin Breakers Germany is another place inside of Europe which has mostly been underrated for hockey. This nation has given over 40 players to the NHL which also includes the almighty Leon Draisaitl and also includes Marco Strum. Building a team for this city will be a huge thing for not just Germany, but also for hockey in general seeing the amount of space Germany has to grow. Building this country up inside of hockey will also give its neighbors (such as the Netherlands and Belgium) a chance to grow hockey themselves which is why having a team here would be great for hockey. I also think that having a hockey presence inside of Germany will encourage hockey inside of France which will make this even better. 3. Kingston Knights Kingston (which is the capital city of Jamaica for those of you who didn’t know), is also another place in North America where hockey has a very good chance of growing. This is the third place on this list where hockey sent currently one of the bigger sports however, we can definitely work to make it one of the biggest sports that the country has seen. Hockey in the Caribbean isn’t very well known due to there being a lack of snow and ice in the region however, with modern technology we could definitely build artificial ice skating rinks which would be the home of the Knights. Now let’s look at some places most of us wouldn’t except to be on the list. For the sake of not being biased, I will be including a team from Africa, Asia, and South America. I will not be including Oceania because it wouldn’t make sense for the sake of logic and the logistics for a team here would be very complex and nearly impossible seeing that Oceania and North America are opposite in terms of time. Now without much further waiting, here are my last 3 places which I think should get a team for the VHL. 4. Johannesburg Jaguars Johannesburg is a city in South Africa and one of (three) capitals for South Africa. South Africa is the only full member country for IIHF inside of Africa and one of three countries which plays a role inside the IIHF (the other two countries being Algeria and Morocco). South Africa is also a country which has a lot of space to grow when we speak about hockey since it’s not the biggest country when speaking about hockey. There are two regional leagues in the country, the Gauteng Premier League and the Western Province League. The top teams meet for the national title in the Interprovincial Championships. (Sourced from Wikipedia) This shows that while they may not have a lot of hockey, they do play some even till date. 5. Tokyo Titans Tokyo is the biggest city in the world by its metropolitan area. This place has a huge potential to grow as a VHL team and I think that a team in Tokyo would be amazing for the atmosphere inside of the games along with more attention for the league. The Japan Ice Hockey League was the national league in the country from 1966–2004, when it folded in favor of the multi-national Asia League. Since 1933, a cup competition, the All Japan Ice hockey Championship has been held. A women's counterpart has been held since 1982. Japan has men's, women's and junior national teams. The Japan women's national team qualified for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Japan hosted and participated at the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo.(sourced from Wikipedia) All of this shows that Japan has huge potential to become a big market for the game of ice hockey. 6. Shanghai City Snipers China is huge country, it has the most people in the world (at the time of writing) and it has a huge market to explore (identical to the one which Tokyo has but even bigger). Before people say that I should’ve picked Beijing over Shanghai, the reason I chose Shanghai was that the city of Shanghai is because Beijing already has a team inside of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL also known as Kontinental'naya khokkeynaya liga good luck pronouncing that if you’re not from Russia). China itself has 410 rinks and 2,764 registered ice hockey players. The Chinese Ice Hockey Championship has been held since 1953. The country's top team was China Dragon, who played in the multi-national Asia League. China has men's, women's and junior national teams. Andong Song was the first Chinese player drafted by the New York Islanders in the 6th round (172nd overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. (Sourced from Wikipedia) All of this has led me to believe that Shanghai would be a jackpot for the VHL in terms of viewership and revenue. All of these countries as cities have great potential to become great hockey cities granted the funding and advertising of the teams. I really think that this expansion would be a great chance for the VHL, VHLE or the VHLM to expand around the globe. Some honourable mentions I would like to put out are: Delhi Dragons, Sydney Strikers and Santiago Striders. All 3 of these cities (all in different continents) have a chance of growing hockey in their region which is why I think these three places could also work however, I think the others beat it just barely. Other than that, this is Dabnad Shaw signing off once again. 1105 words Claim for week ending Jan 6, Jan 13
  7. Review time! I like the way you put the Marlins logo underwater which represents the team name. I also like the “motto” you put on the the top. Also, I really the bubbles in the background which dislocate in random places. One complain which I do have is that nothing is properly centered which just looks very weird and you can’t unsee it after you see it. Another thing which I dislike to this picture is the font which you used for the Marlins words since it’s just a bit outline rather than a bold text. Other than that, an amazing graphic. 7.5/10
  8. Review time: Great graphic in play here, you see the old look which already gives it a very good retro look. You also can see the first and the last name which definitely helps your case. The logo is also very well edited into the picture which is why it looks so well. One thing which I wish you would’ve added into the picture is maybe you should’ve had the rust in the picture go down a bit (the black parts) since it becomes just black in the back. Other than that, it’s a great picture. 9.5/10
  9. When you think about a game of hockey, something which you won’t think about is a coin. However, like nearly all games, a game of hockey can also be described like a flip of a coin. For example, when you’re playing you getting a shot on net is like a flawed coin while that puck going in the net is like a die with 10 sides. All of this shows that luck is one of the biggest factors in any sport however, hockey is a sport where this is even more important. A deflection or lucky stick placement can destroy a game for your team or it can make the game in a very favourable position. I think that hockey is a game where if you have no luck, you can’t succeed unless you’re an all-star (people such as Connor McDavid and Sidney Crosby are pretty good at the game for luck to affect them). All of this shows that a big thing in hockey is luck which is what we all need identical to what we need when we flip a coin which is why I call hockey a game of a coin. This is Dabnad Shaw signing off and until next time, goodbye!

  11. 1. I think that this years draft was a 9. We did pick up some very key members to this team and I think that we could make a deep run with the players we have drafted and gotten. 2. Well yes. I have definitely not proved myself inside of this league and even drafting me where I am was a big risk. I think that the position I was drafted in was just about right due to be being fairly new to this competition 3. Of course, I think that the Geneva Rush is the perfect team and it’s a good team to start of with in my first season. 4. I think that it was a well done draft. I don’t think that there is really anything needed which needed to be added/changed in how the draft was shown 5. I think that a goal which I have for this team is for me to go on the ice and contribute in any and every way I can. This can be done with anything from the defence to the shot making i think that the best goal to have is to not have a goal and just try your hardest to be the best 6. My favourite hockey player is definitely Quinn Hughes (who would’ve thought), amazing player on the offence and and even better defensive player making him one of the best rookies in the business
  12. Lol I played half a season, didn’t expect that you’d know me but I’m glad I’m in here!
  13. Review time: I like how you used scrabble pieces rather than regular text which makes it look well. I also like all the different fonts which you used in the picture with none of the sentences having the same font. One thing I wish you did was that I wish you put some effects on the background which would’ve looked better. I also wish that in the future, you put some more colours overall in a “rainbowy” way as it’d blend in very well. Other than that it’s a great picture. 9/10
  14. Review time! I like the comical look of the picture which supposedly looks like a comic book. I also like the font and bright white around the text in the picture. Though I do think you should have kept the white a bit more low-key as it merges with other brights which make it look slightly worse. The last thing I dislike is the blurred reflection on the glass which looks a bit bad. 8/10
  15. Oops I forgot to add week 2, thanks for reminding me
  16. (Before we start off, no this isn’t going to be the way you made a player in the VHL) Hello everyone, welcome to another one of my articles where I find a random thing online and think that I can convert it into interesting article! This time I was going through YouTube and I kept on finding some different “NFL create your player” and I thought that there must be one for hockey. To my very big surprise there wasn’t a single one which is why I decided to make one. However, this one will involve many things from real life and inside the VHL. I will be using VHL, VHLE, and VHLM teams and some real life data such as height along with many more things. Without further stalling let’s get into it. 1. Height Lets start off with a simple one for your player. Lets get the height of your new VHL player! If you’re under 5 feet in real life your player will be 5 feet. 5 feet - 5’8” is 5’6”, 5’8”- 6 feet is 6’1”. 6 feet-6’6” is 6’8”. Anything over 6’8” is 7 feet. 2. Weight To find your players weight we will be using what team your player is/was in the VHLM. If your VHLM team is/was Halifax you’re 140 pounds (bit light to play hockey eh?). If your VHLM team is/was Houston then you’re 150 pounds. Las Vegas is 160 pounds. Mexico City is 170 pounds. Miami is 180 pounds. Mississauga is 190 pounds, Ottawa is 200 pounds. Philadelphia is 210, San Diego is 220 and Saskatoon is a big ol’ 230 pounds. 3. Position Now let’s find what position you play in. If you’re in the VHLM you’re a goalie, if you’re in/are going to the VHLE you’re a defence, and if you’re in/are going to the VHL you’re a forward. 4. Age To see how old you are let’s look at the TPA you have available. If you have from 0-100 TPA you’re a young 18 year old. If you have from 100-200 TPA you’re a slightly older 22 year old. 200-300 means you’re 25. 300-400 means you’re getting old at 29. 400-500 means you’re 32, and if have 500+ TPA you’re a very old 35 year old playing hockey. 5. Nationality To make it easier for you guys (and me) I will add 6 nations: Canada, USA, Russia,Norway, Sweden, and Finland. To see what country you’re from let’s just use what continent you’re from in real life (not where you’re living or where you’re born just the country you would consider yourself from). If you’re from Asia you’re a proud Russian, South Americans can be American, North Americans can go to the country with the place with Alert: Canada. Africa means Finland for you. European players can be Swedish and Oceanian players can be from Norway. 6. VHL team (To make this simple I will be adding just the top 4 regular season teams.) Now that we know all the basic information lets see what VHL team you end up on. To figure this out let’s use the first letter of your real name. If your name starts with any letter from A-G you got drafted by the Moscow Menace. If your name starts with G-M you just got drafted by the good ol’ Seattle Bears. If your name starts with any letter from N-T you just got drafted by the Vancouver Wolves, and lastly if your name starts from T-Z you just got drafted by the Malmo Nighthawks. 7. Average capped TPE One which will make a bigger difference than the other ones. To figure this out you can just use a simple method by seeing how many banked TPE you have. If you have 0 banked your earn an average of 6. 0-10 banked means you earn about 8. 10-30 means you earn about 10 a week, and if you have over 30 banked TPE it means that you earn a full 12 TPE a week which is very well done by you! 8. Stick handling hand Now that we’ve looked at some things which are common in the VHL, let’s look at something which we don’t see being talked about a lot in the VHL. Let’s look at how you hold the stick in a good game of hockey. To find out how you play the puck in a normal game we will be looking at something not many people will be expecting. To see what hand you play you must figure out if your profile picture consists of something related to hockey. If you think that there is something related to hockey in your picture you’re a player who plays the puck with their left, if you’re someone who doesn’t have hockey in their profile picture you’re someone who plays the puck with their right. 9. Trophies won Now with our last two questions coming up, let’s see how good of a player you became. To find out how many trophies you earned let’s put a simple method into test. To see if you’ve earned trophies do the following: go to player management, go to approved updates, find your last 3 approved updates. If these three result in 3-5 you’ve ended a career with no individual trophies won. If you get 5-8 you’ve won a trophy for yourself. 8-12 brings you 2 career trophies, 12-15 brings you 3 and anything over 15 gives you 5 trophies which you earned by your will and power. 10. Best stat This one, unlike the other ones, will be a very straight forward. To find this out you just have to go to your player and check what your best stat is. This is one of the simplest thing you can do. Now put everything together and see what you get. That’s your player which will play in the VHL for you and that’s who you are. Personally, I’m a 6’1, 170 pound, defence man that’s Russian. I’m also playing for Vancouver, who gets around 8 capped TPE a week. I also play leftie and earned myself a trophy. Lastly my best statistic is strength, defence, checking, and puck handling. Leave your players down in the replies. This is Dabnad signing off. 1043 words Week ending January 23rd, January 30th
  17. 1. It’s really been a pleasure working and playing with you. I’ve learnt a lot of things including just playing with you in the short time I’ve been here. I’ve learnt by A to Z of the VHL and I really wish that in the future, you get a team which can win you the cup. I’ve learnt about how the league and how teams work and I wish to play with you again maybe in my next career 2. Pretty good choice to be honest, but as a Canucks fan I wished Bruce (there it is) was there. Maybe next year eh? 3. That’s a bit hard but I have to say pacific, this is because I think all the teams have the same skill level which makes it a bit competitive (unlike other divisions which have better teams but they’re balanced between better and worse teams) 4. Metropolitan for the same reason 5. Breakfast, I’ve never had lunch in my life before, makes answering the question a lot easier for me 6. Dogs, cats starch you can never do anything, dogs are active and a lot more fun. Dogs are also more popular in my city which adds a tiny bit of bias
