  1. The woes of being a VHL goaltender! Quite possibly the worst performance of all time.

  16. That episode was fucking wild. Literally on the edge of my seat the entire last 15 minutes. Sick sick sick
  17. I was quite busy the last couple days, season will start tomorrow evening!
  18. We're certainly open to ideas. I personally don't have any. We have writing, graphics (and videos), and podcasts. There's strengths and weaknesses to all of them. One may not like writing, or have english as a second language. Most people aren't graphically inclined. Podcasts I find are easiest, but I understand some people might feel weird speaking for random strangers, or maybe they're self-conscious about their voice, or dislike public speaking, or live with other people who would look at them strangely if they were talking to themselves for 10 minutes. But what else is there? The one thing I could think of (which Kendrick I think still kind of does with his VHLSC), is have some kind of "templated" Point Task for new members to easily fill out for an easy 6 Points. Like a get-to-know-you questionaire. Maybe we could put together like, four of these simple templated things (which is a month's worth of PTs), and hopefully by that time the member is comfortable enough to make content of their own.
  19. (I agree that 450 words is hardly an essay) But indeed, even when I joined, as someone who was already doing some casual fake news writing on Facebook for fun, even I was a bit intimidated that I would have to somehow write articles about a league I know nothing about. As a rule I always found people on the Internet to be dicks, so I was almost afraid to post or do anything for a few months to avoid being embarrassed. Hence why finding a place where people ALREADY write short 450+ word things for the entertainment of other Internet strangers might be an effective strategy.
  20. This should really tie in well with the hockey literotica forum.
  21. I will say though, one thing that's been in my head for probably literally 5 years, and I've been too lazy to explore is this: We tend to recruit in hockey-based communities, in hopes of appealing to people like ourselves. That is, people who like: 1. Hockey 2. Community 3. Roleplay 4. Creative Writing/Graphic Design 5. Game of Thrones Yet probably most people who like hockey and sports aren't huge nerds like us. So wouldn't it be more likely to find VHL members in communities more geared toward roleplaying or creative writing? That would presumably be a place where they're already doing stuff they'd be doing here to earn TPE. Then you'd have to think at least a few of those people are hockey fans, and then suddenly we're a perfect fit! I think I tried looking into that a bit a long time ago, but I think the challenging part with that is, "where do you find such a community?" I don't know, but it wuld be worthwhile looking into, I think.
  22. What we need to do instead is start a Twitch stream of us on the VHL, commenting on what we're doing and our experience, but usually talking about other things altogether. Almost like Beketov's Codcast, but also the exact opposite!
  23. You know work is depressing when it's preventing me from gushing about Thrones! I feel like this season so far is kind of punctuating how A. They maybe shouldn't have strayed TOO far from the books, and B. They probably could have used more than 13 episodes to end the series. There's lots of action and shit happening, which is cool, but there is details that just get glossed over, especially when it comes to travel and such, and how a woman who is aggressively practicing domestic terrorism and alienated every single person on Planetos still has any support at all, and how she gets a navy and a scorpion and suddenly she's just steamrolling Dany with her own larger navy made up of her own Ironborn, plus three full-sized armies. There's a fair amount more I could nitpick at, but I don't want to be too negative. Game of Thrones was always a show that was even more enjoyable if you thought about it, but sadly it is straying away from that. That said, it has been a very enjoyable season thus far. Like I said, the plot is moving forward very rapidly, which is very entertaining. The Brotherhood scenes were awesome, carried by the Hound, I'm looking forward to getting some White Walker action going again, Bran is a creepy fuck I don't like it, Littlefinger is a creepy fuck I'm neutral to it, Euron is a scary fuck I mostly love it (but give the man a damn eyepatch!), Jaime and Theon's arcs have been stalled for a bit, but hopefully Olenna's mic drop kicks Jaime's into full gear. Which speaking of which, she is always a pleasure to watch. As is Jon Snow and co. Looking forward to Arya reuniting with her fam jam, and I'd be severely disappointed if that's the last we saw of Nymeria and the wolfpack!
