Aimee reacted to TopTiddee2 in The VHLM Playoffs Have Arrived. Who Takes Home the Founder's Cup?
Yes. I am giving this special PT article to discuss the playoffs in the VHLM. These are my predictions for the battle of the Founder's Cup, and I expect shade to be thrown at me because of some of my predictions.

    #1 Las Vegas Aces (58-9-5, 121 PTS) vs #8 Saskatoon Wild (22-48-2, 46 PTS)
This first round matchup features the #1 Las Vegas Aces going against the #8 Saskatoon Wild. In what seems like an absolute 4-0 sweep in favor of the Aces, the current Cup favorite is on a bit of a downturn. The Aces have lost their last 3 games, losing to Mississauga twice (5-1, 3-2) and Houston once (4-0). Because of these losses, LV's probability of winning the Founder's Cup has dropped. Saskatoon, on the other hand, hasn't won a game since my last post of the regular season (8/1). Because of this, I feel that Saskatoon isn't ready for the dominant threat of the Aces. Watch Al Land for the Aces, I expect him to lead the league in playoff points after Round 1.
    (LVA wins 4-0)

    #3 Mississauga Hounds (48-17-7, 103 PTS) vs #7 Ottawa Lynx (24-41-7, 55 PTS)
In this matchup, the East Champs #3 Mississauga Hounds are facing the #7 Ottawa Lynx in what should also seem like a one-sided matchup. Mississauga are on a high note after defeating Las Vegas twice to end the season. In what has boosted their chances at spoiling another cup run for the Aces, I think that they are potentially the Cup favorites if they play Vegas in the next rounds. Ottawa on the other hand has had a below-average season. They took several defeats to the Hounds earlier in the year, and I feel like they will suffer the same defeat in the playoffs. One player to watch in this series is Lorenzo Cobberson, who lead Mississauga in scoring and was in the top 10 in the league for scoring.
    (MIS wins 4-1)

    #2 Houston Bulls (49-18-5, 103 PTS) vs #6 Halifax 21st (37-26-9, 83 PTS)
The #2 Houston Bulls take on the #6 Halifax 21st in the First Round of the Founder's Cup Playoffs. The Bulls, coming out of nowhere to steal the #2 overall seed from the Mexico City Kings and Mississauga Hounds, are prime to take out the 21st. The Bulls only lost to Halifax once during the regular season and have been threats to become the new champs of the VHLM. Halifax, on the other hand, has had a decent season, sitting in the sixth spot for a while. While I think that Halifax could maybe play spoils to the Bulls playoff run, I don't think they'll have enough in the tank to upset the #2 seed. One player to watch in this series is Jeffery Bezos, who was #2 in the league in scoring for Halifax.
    (HOU wins 4-1)

    #4 Mexico City Kings (47-16-9, 103 PTS) vs #5 Philadelphia Reapers (45-23-4, 94 PTS)
And now, for the most entertaining series in the First Round, the #4 Mexico City Kings faceoff against the #5 Philadelphia Reapers. Both teams won 3 games against the other during the regular season and can expect this series to go to 7. Mexico City was the #2 team overall in the league on 8/1 and looked primed to holding onto that spot going into the playoffs. However, after a little skid and the other teams behind them picking up momentum, the Kings fell to 4th off of a tiebreaker. Philadelphia is riding on a two game winning streak and is looking to upset the #4 seed. I think that even though Mexico City may be a distant favorite for the Founder's Cup, I think Philadelphia can play spoils and win the series in 7. Players to watch include Jon Webber Jr (PHI) and Tater Tottingham (MEX), who both appeared in the top 10 in the league in scoring.
    (PHI wins 4-3)

    CURRENT FOUNDER'S CUP %

It's that time of the season! Playoff hockey time. Regular season is done. Let's do this. Bracket challenge time!

    How it works:

Scoring System (Max points = 135)
Correctly pick the series winner = 10 points
Correctly pick series length (regardless of winner) = 5 points
*Tiebreaker in the finals will be goals scored which also accounts for 15 points*

    Payout!
    Predict the cup winners (VHL = 2 / VHLE = 1 / VHLM = 1) = 4 TPE
    1st Place = 6 TPE
    2nd - 3rd = 5 TPE
    4th - 5th = 4 TPE
    6th - 10th = 3 TPE
    11th - 20th = 2 TPE
    21+ = 1 TPE

    Let's do that hockey!

And with that last buzzer and a terrible shutout loss against the Ottawa Lynx, the regular season is over for Jesse Teno and the Saskatoon Wild. A long and hard season sees them clawing their way into the VHLM playoffs as they take 8th in the regular season standings. Mathematically, by the last few games, it was impossible for San Diego or Miami to jump the Wild in points. Now they face the literally impossible task of going up against the number one seed in the VHLM; the Las Vegas Aces. One would have to imagine it will be a sweep of a series. Honestly it’s not even fair how lopsided this battle will be. A full roster team going up one that barely has any on-ice presence. It’s going to get ugly.

But enough of the Wild and their inevitable downfall, let’s see how Saskatoon’s go-to goalie fared this season.

Jesse Teno has finished their first and only season in the VHLM with a 22-47-2 record including 5 shutouts, and 4 shoot-out wins. They also lead the league with a perfect shootout record, having not let in a single shootout goal from 13 shots. And on top of that, they finish the season with a respectable .904 save percentage.

While Jesse does lead the league in shots against (2,386) and losses (47), it can’t all be blamed on them. Between Saskatoon severely lacking in any real shooting power, being the only goalie for the team up until the third to last day of games, and having a league leading 4,280 minutes of ice time among goalies, it’s easy for all of those aspects to have worked against them.

So, after a career starting season like this, where does Jesse go from here? At this point in time, it could be anywhere. The VHLE is a whole new step and location for Jesse. Despite their win / loss ratio, Jesse is an incredibly active goalie with a long career ahead of them. They are talented, bright, and hard working with no signs of stopping. Numbers don’t always tell the full story. Sometimes the facts surrounding circumstances can have a major impact.

Is Jesse the number one goalie in the VHLM? No.

Is Jesse in the top 5 of VHLM goalies? Probably not.

What Jesse does have is hard work and dedication to hockey and the VHL that will carry them further than most and we cannot wait to see what is next in store for this goalie.
Jesse posted the below to their social media after the final game:

I want to thank Saskatoon and the people here for standing behind me during my first season. I know we’re not where we want to be but I promise I tried to get us there. This whole season has been a time of real growth and learning. I left home for the first time, played on my first non-school based team, and I have doubled down on my love for the sport of hockey. I hope to make Saskatoon proud in the playoffs but I think we all know the odds we are facing. All I can promise the fans is that I’m going to give it my all.

Hey all, Ledge here. As some of you have seen, I have stepped down from the position of Marauders GM effective immediately (well, a little while ago) and was replaced by @Lemorse7, who will no doubt do an awesome job taking over from where I left off.

I was meaning to do a lengthy, heartfelt resignation at the end of the season, but alas, here we are. I'll keep it short and (bitter)sweet. I stepped down because I knew that next season would align with school starting, and I just don't think I can allocate enough of my time to managing a team while keeping up with school and hockey. The reason for the sudden departure is I just haven't had any time this summer, particularly late July and early August. Last week was my grandparents' 50th anniversary, so we had lots of festivities all week and some of my cousins were over at my house. Even now, hours after they left, I'm heading up to a friends' cottage where I'll have little internet service. You get the gist; I have no time and I feel guilty that I have no time. I haven't been able to log on and pitch waiver players, which is essential right now, and my AGM is/was also AWOL for personal reasons.

Before I go, @nurx, you kept me going through those first seasons where things didn't look very bright, and we had few players to engage with. You're sadly heavily underappreciated in the VHL community, and I hope that changes soon. Keep grinding my friend.

That's pretty much it. I'll stay as active as I can, I owe that to my teammates and managers  on Helsinki and Istanbul. Cheers to everyone who I've had the pleasure of conversing with over my tenure as GM of the Miami Marauders.

I'm using a word counter to hit 150 words on the dot for this piece, as it's nearly bedtime. Still jetlagged but that just means I can wake up at like 6 AM to go have a nice breakfast somewhere before everyone else wakes up.

Moscow finished the season strong, toppling the franchise's single season points record with the final win of the season over Vancouver. It's pretty nuts to see how the team is not only still kicking with so many core members traded, but really thriving since all the new acquisitions have stepped up and filled massive shoes.

Henri le Massif broke the mold of a welfare/pension player and scored 40 goals (congrats on the VHL-personal best Garsh), Hard Markinson tied for most points from a defender, Tomas Sogaard led rookies with 72 points and Papa Emeritus simply goalie gapped the rest of the league.

Aimee reacted to Spartan in The 200 TPE cap for draft eligible players is a scam change my mind
The cap is just applied TPE, earning isn't impacted at all. In addition, if a player is over 200 TPE by the cutoff (in offseason), they aren't eligible for the M anyways. They go straight to the E where the applied cap is 400. So no one is ever limited in earning, and no one should ever stop earning either. There will always be a spot for you.

At least Vegas are coming into the series on the our first 3 game losing streak of the season.😔 But yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the 1st vs. 8th seed thing in the VHLM. But I think limitations of the engine means we can't really do much for alternatives with play-ins, since we have an equal number of teams making the playoffs.

Still though, stats aside your growth this season has been amazing, and you should have a very bright future in the league. Being above .900 in your first season as when joining the week of the draft, pretty much. Is no small feat. But just down to the season SSK had, all the other stats were kinda doomed without anything you could do about it. Actually getting 5 SO is kinda insane, considering the shot totals you normally faced.

Statistically rough season, but the fact that you've pushed through it, and in fact seem to have more passion for the VHL on the other side is impressive. I've been a goaltender on some pretty great teams but also some pretty garbage teams. It takes a tremendous amount of will to push through those bad seasons, especially in net, but once you end up on a good team, you'll see how much potential was underneath those pads the whole time! Keep up the great work!
