  1. 1. So excited to get S86 going, I think there's an itch for real game time at this point and we all want to get going. 2. More than the other team. 3. Music, always finding the right tunes to get in the game mindset. Helps me feel calm between the pipes. 4. Carbs lol, probably way too many carbs. 5. I've been going into university classes in the offseason, I graduated early from high school so never hurts getting towards a degree for a back-up plan. 6. This philosophical debate tends to be decided by what an individual will quanitfy as a "sandwich" in food. Personally, I see a sandwich as ingredients in between 2 pieces of bread; I don't see a hot dog a sandwich based on a hot dog bun not being 2 pieces of bread, and at home when we ran out of hot dog buns, we would use bread and call that a "hot dog sandwich". The second part of this could also count for number 5.
  2. D - AirRig GoodBrandSun @youloser1337 Sorry work has been insane this week.
  3. I really liked the part where I got 50 TPE last week.
  4. Justin Lion Scouting Report Justin Lion is a 6 foot 3, 210-pound goaltender from Las Vegas, Nevada, who after an excellent Junior Showcase Tournament, got drafted by the San Diego Marlins, Cologne Express and Malmo Nighthawks in the S86 drafts. This will not focus much on his time in the JST, though it did garner the most of his attention leading up to the drafts. Justin Lion began his VHLM career with the Mississauga Hounds, starting 33 games for them and losing all 33, despite some amazing efforts, such as making 60 saves out of 62 shots against the Mexico City Kings early on in season 85. He was big in net, but struggled to use that size to his advantage, and struggled to react to some challenging shots properly, which led to some games that got out of hand quickly. It was a slow development for him as he continued to face onslaught after onslaught of shots and losing that much in a row can be mentally draining for even the toughest players emotionally. Despite allowing over 5 goals per game and having a terribly tough time with so many shots faced, many went through, Lion still finished his time in Mississauga with saving over 9 out of 10 shots, having a .903 sv%. It was a grueling first entry into the VHLM for Justin Lion, but he eventually got what he hoped for around the trade deadline, a chance to win some games. Justin Lion ended his VHLM season with the Miami Marauders, where he got his first win, against his old squad, but looked a lot more mortal in the back-up role that he played. He was looking a bit slower, and still struggled with the use of size, but he had improved rebound control and was figuring out his style better for the VHLM, but with limited time to figure that out in more of a reserved role in the back half of the season, there was not a lot of time to demonstrate his developments. Since his short time with Miami, and off the back of a great individual improvement with the JST, he’s been drafted by the San Diego Marlins and he’s focused even greater on rebound control this offseason, as well as hand speed, rebound control, and agility. Coupled with an already good, soon to be improving reaction time, it's clear what his strengths are going to be entering this season as this is an offseason to remember for Justin Lion. What may have been early struggles could end up being strengths with the Marlins as he becomes a more defined goaltender in his style. (Word Count - 438 words)
  5. From Travel League Skater to Potential VHL Netminder Justin Lion is a 6’3” 210-pound goaltender from Las Vegas, Nevada. He’s played several positions in travel hockey teams while learning the game through U8 to U12 divisions, learning to skate at the age of 3. Lion is someone who’s always had a passion for the ice but didn’t start playing in net until he was 13, when the U14 travel team he was on had 2 sick and injured goalies and despite never playing the position before, took up being the emergency goaltender at that time, and had a surprisingly impressive performance given the circumstances. He became an impact netminder very quickly in games and in practices, even getting the attention of the internet in some small-time forums with how unlikely the story was playing out. In his travel league career as a netminder, he averaged a .905 sv% with a 3.29 GAA, had to make a lot of saves and learn how to do it quickly to keep his teams in the game. Justin Lion was able to make moderate success while learning the basics of the position, as in his best season in travel leagues, he won 20 games while losing 15 in regulation and losing 3 in overtime. From when he turned 14 to right before he turned 16, he grew 9 inches and added on muscle to hit his current height and weight of 6 feet, 3 inches, and to hit 210 pounds, losing the lanky build he had while still a skater. A switch to goalie that late in your youth career, right before you have to take Juniors very seriously, is a fascinating path to the VHLM, where a Mississauga Hounds team desperate for players and trying to get itself in a rebuilding stage, where Lion was able to show off despite going on the 33 game losing streak with the Hounds, as they struggled to win all season, despite some incredibly strong performances on the ice from Lion, showing that even a late transition to the net doesn’t stop the raw talent that he has for the sport. Gaining the attention of many GMs for the official VHLM draft, VHLE draft and VHL draft. Through the season he’s developed a more instinctive feel for where the puck is likely going to go, his reaction time is getting nearly spot on. He plays with his heart on his sleeve, but still very mentally strong and fights back after allowing any goal. It’s hard to predict where his career will go, but as he’s getting attention through a late entry in the VHLM, his career start continues to be unlikely and incredibly interesting, and people will be paying attention to how he develops. 6. Since Justin Lion has been drafted to the San Diego Marlins 4th overall this past VHLM draft, he’s quickly getting used to the expectations set upon by @jacobcarson877 for the team, and they are high! Equally Justin Lion has stated that he has high faith in himself and the development he’s undergone through the Junior Showcase Tournament and training camp has helped him tremendously to prepare for this season. Lion is ecstatic to play for any team, and the fact that it’s a team that’s helping so much to his development and direction with where to improve with his skills. He’s loving being on this team, there’s so many great people to play with and learn from, and Justin Lion is only going to get better this season from last season’s up and down roller coaster experience with the Mississauga Hounds and the Miami Marauders. Only time will tell how much the San Diego Marlins can live up to these expectations, but Justin Lion and the skaters are ready to play up to these expectations and we’ll see this team starts soon enough. With scoring potential aplenty and a defense that will try to make it easy for Lion in net, the San Diego Marlins are hungry for the top of the standings. (Word Count 213)
  7. Justin Lion entered the Junior Showcase Tournament as the back-up goaltender for the Brigade in the Junior Showcase Tournament preceding the S86 VHLM, VHLE, and VHL drafts. He started in the middle of the S85 season as a goaltender for the Mississauga Hounds, failing to post a win in 33 outings despite his best efforts, a trade to Miami Marauders did give Lion his first 9 wins, but individual save percentage was significantly lower than expected based on his numbers with the Hounds, now he was a back-up goaltender there and played as much as he could to show what he brought to the Marauders, and it led to one postseason appearance. There was not a lot of buzz with goaltenders in any draft besides the VHLM in hoping to train Justin Lion to show more promise, and he did show a lot of promise with the Brigade in the right time. Justin Lion entered the Brigade through much of the preliminary games as the back-up goaltender, a role he adjusted to very well compared to his time with Miami in the VHLM. Coming in for Matthew McCagg a few times throughout to do “damage control” to games that felt lost otherwise. Lion had decent showings, but for the early post-season, Lion took a little bit of a backseat until his outings helped secure the Brigade moving forward in the tournament. In the semi-finals against Team Clue, Justin Lion was given the start for the first time through the series, job security in the net as much as he had back when in Mississauga. He took advantage of this, and in a hard-fought series versus the Clue, posting numbers the best he’s done for his entire career, and right in the clutch. He’s a big reason why Brigade made the finals against the predicted top team coming out of the preliminary portion of the JST, the Delhi Pickles. Another hard-fought series followed, but there was not nearly as much success as the better team still won in the Delhi Pickles, but Justin Lion played his heart out every game he was playing. Keeping the locker room together through the tough times off the ice in a grueling final series that exploded on the ice, putting Lion in a very difficult spot in times, and even then, he managed to do well. It's a pre-draft renaissance that any prospect would hope for entering the draft. Satisfied with the performance he put into the showcase, the outlook upon the drafts had an obvious boost. There’s potential in him to be a starting goaltender in the VHL and many GMs took notice. In the VHLM draft, where there were the least possible questions about if Lion would be taken, had him shoot up to 4th overall, taken by the third first round pick the San Diego Marlins owned, showing that in the VHLM, Lion was a hot commodity and ready to perform. In the VHLE draft, the Cologne Express took him in at the top of the 5th round, 33rd overall, as a prospect goalie ready to play in the VHLE after one season with the Marlins, where he’s expected to be a top 3 goaltender in the VHLM. In the VHL draft, after some consideration by the Malmo Nighthawks, Justin Lion was taken near the end of the 2nd round, 31st overall. This leaves him taken in all three drafts of the S86 draft weekend based on his eligibility. While we’ll never know what will happen for Justin Lion’s VHL career, it’s clear that the JST gave him a solid footing in the eyes of the GMs, and that anything is possible with enough time. For now, Justin Lion will focus this season on the Marlins, and it will be very interesting to see where his career goes. (636 words)
  8. 1. I feel great to be taken so high in the draft. Expectations are high, but I'm ready to perform. 2. I feel great about being on the Marlins; I'm just glad to be drafted at all. The squad seems like a great group and I'm happy to work with them. 3. I'm gonna work on getting acclimated with the team and expectations. 4. I had a very interesting last season, I think the most satisfying this of last season was getting my first win, and then shutting out the old Mississauga squad to finally get that on the stat sheet. 5. I'd model myself after Robin Lehner, I want to make the easy saves look easy and put in the work for challenging saves. 6. Pepperoni is my favorite pizza topping.
  9. 1. I feel pretty good about the squad, I think I didn't take advantage of my starts in the round robin as well as I should've, lost a bunch of close matches, could've inflated the differential even more if I played better in my starts. 2. It's always great to get more chances to play and keep moving forward. It's the only way to keep getting better. 3. I didn't get a ton of time in round 1, it is what it is. I play my role and I do what I can. 4. Always a concern to not be winning by a lot, but on the other side of the scales, winning close games in the playoffs is a thing that can inspire confidence moving forward. 5. I think there's always a chance to perform playoff clutch and change the tides of history and previous results. I'm entering this series with a clear mind and here to make the saves that I have to make. 6. Anyone can be a threat if you don't take them seriously, that's the mindset that I have. I won't let anyone sneak up on me.
  10. Sounds like a great opportunity! #releasethehounds
