Rip Wheeler - Early Season Thoughts: Alright, let’s fire up some early season thoughts centered around the one and only Rip Wheeler. So it’s no secret that Rip had a tough go during season number 89. He was a rookie, just trying to find his way…and he definitely had trouble locating the stat sheet! So what about his sophomore season?! Well, so far there seems to be some improvement! Let’s break it down. In six games played so far, Rip has amassed (lol)…one goal and one assist. Now two points isn’t earth shattering, but it’s close to half of last seasons production! Progress!! What gets me excited though is the 33 hits in six games. That’s almost six hits per game! A vast improvement from last season. Rip is and always has been a positive influence off the ice and in the room…but with some consistent PPE hopefully he can translate that into some production on the ice! The Wranglers are 3-3 with mostly close games. Rip will continue to keep his head down and do what he can to be a positive contributor this season!

1) Fradin! The rookie is gonna start strong out of the gate! 2) Vancouver and the “Lame Train” Brian Payne! 3) I might be a homer, but the Wranglers are gonna shock the world! Let’s gooo! 4) Hoping power forward, hits and makes plays…got a few decent games checking wise…hopefully the points come soon to help the club! 5) Make Fighting Great Again! Less emphasis on phasing it out! Let’s get back to old school hockey!! 6) Couple Zyn 6s and a shot of fireball! Well that’s what Ol Rip Wheeler does! Haha

Scotty P’s Sunday shout outs with Rip Wheeler: Alright, fired back up on a Sunday night! Let’s gooo! Definitely excited for this upcoming season 90 of the Victory Hockey League!Wranglers made a lot of moves this off-season and in a true changing of the guard look to reload and not rebuild! I love that we have a GM (Ricer13!) that is not afraid to make some moves and shake things up a bit! I wanna start off by saying I am humbled that Rip was named assistant captain this season! Statistically speaking Rip shit the bed last year, but I believe some hard work, determination and some top shelf whiskey will lead to a sophomore season to be proud of. Alright, enough about everyone’s favorite whiskey drinking cowboy! Let’s do my favorite thing, as a T-Triple-G guy (Team Guy, Glue Guy)….let’s send some Scotty P shoutouts down range! First up, former 4th overall draft pick Fradin Mcgryer! Fradin has two of my favorite attributes, he’s a big meat eater of a man at 6’4, 235lbs and he hails from the good Ol U-S of A! Fradin was also (and probably more deservedly so) names as an assistant captain for season 90. His stats last year in the Euro league were stellar with 21 goals and 43 assists from the blue line. With 64 total points in 72 games he was almost a point per game guy! And with a plus 28 rating, Fradin is definitely helping the club when he’s on the ice! Now to my favorite stat, with 229 hits, you gotta keep your head up when he’s lurking around the neutral zone! I’m excited to see what he can do on his rookie season and can’t wait to lace em up with him this season! Alright next up, this guy has some huge (big ass) shoes to fill. Losing Daniel Janser, a future first ballot hall of famer was a tough blow for sure, but I have no doubt, this guy will step right in and crush it! Our next Captain and leader on the ice and in the room, Phil Strasmore! Phil had a solid season last year for the Wranglers with 10 goals and 56 assists for 66 total points in 72 games. He also came to play during the playoffs with 8 points in 6 games! With a minus 15, Phil could’ve done better, but I take blame for 14 of this minus points, cuz Rip was a liability out there at times! Haha like most of my favorite players, Phil had 243 hits! Laying the wood to the other side! He also had a solid 232 in pims so you know he’s not afraid to send a message! And that is the kind of leader I want and will follow into battle, run through a brick wall for, and yes Wrangler fans “Riiiiidde for”. Couldn’t be more pumped to have him leading the squad this year! Lastly, can’t right anything without shit talking a bit…I’m at 500 words…so “Little Jakey”Thunder and Brian “Lame Train” Pain…The season 90 Wranglers are getting ready to ride, and you both have nowhere left to hide! Wheeler, out! 529 words

1) I think he killed it. Made moves that had to be made to keep the Wranglers competitive while getting younger in the process. 2) another chance to be consistent with TPE and have Rip contribute more on the ice. 3) same as question 2…feel like I’ve done better. 4) I think another deep playoff run is the expectation, with a championship as the goal! 5) just some weekend trips with my daughters, lots of fun and lots of sun! 6) Italy! Love to eat the food and drink the fine wine! Haha

Rip’s random whiskey thoughts! Ok, ok….here we go….hold on, let me pour a glass of the good stuff…Blanton’s? Pappys? Hmmmm probably just some Buffalo Trace! If ya know ya know…. Ok…so off season is rolling, lots of changes in Calgary….legends retiring, legends getting traded….crazy times! Ol Rip has gotta step up! And that’s exactly what he plans to do….Liddllleeee Jakeyyyyyyy Thunder! You think winning the cup saves you? MVPuuu…shut your mouth! I’m coming for blood this season Thunder…so watch, your, back! No accolades or shiny trophy’s can save you brotherrrrrr….I’m gonna take you to the woodshed and you’ll never be the same! And thunder and pain have first. Class. Tickettttsss. When I’m down with you two you won’t even be “has beens”…..I’m gonna turn you both i to a “never was”….I can’t wait for the first game of next season….begging you both to drop the mits….little Jakey shaking in his boots, while Payne looks around for another dance partner…he doesn’t want that smoke! It’s obvious…studio gangster Payne….alll talk, no action…couldn’t even lift the cup! What a clown, wannabe tough guy…oh you’ve been in a few fights!? Nobody will fight me!! Lol….add you to the list of scared homies…all facts no gimmicks son! You ain’t ready for me, or anyone from the wranglers son! We’re all dogs, bread for the fight, ready for the BS….handle you and yours like a light weight Tuesday morning sparing sesh son! I’ve had enough…Wheeler…out!

1) man, mixed emotions…hate to see him go for sure…legend in the making…but trust Ricer and trust the process. 2) another tough one! Leaaaannnndro! Total stud, lucky to lace em up with him. Wish him the best. But, I am excited for the future! 3) hopefully not Rip! The Yellowstone, wranglers vibe is tooooo good! Lol 4) definitely a good young crop of talent! Any one could jump right in to make an impact! 5) Flown a decent amount…never any scary moments…but every time it takes off…it’s like radical acceptance…if it’s my time to go…it’s my time. 6) in Ricer we trust! And I think the draft was today! Lol
-
1) I agree. I’d run through a brick wall for Ricer! Excited for the new season! 2) Vancouver, wanna see that mope Scurvy win one! But, it’s too late and he’s out of it as well! Lol 3) 100% total class act and stud all the way around! 4) Rip! Lol 5) Middle of the ocean…too long to wait and not know if you’ll ever be found! 6) Dogs all day…mans best friend…cats are evil! Lol
-
1) We definitely put up a good effort, but unfortunately fell short 2) Whatever the big boss Ricer thinks is best! 3) Seattle, Riga. 4) Best weekly chirp! Love some old school shit talking! 5) late in life, but love to fish! Love being on the water…hanging with the boys…catching a keeper is just a bonus! 6) awesome wedding, got Schumacked and made bad decisions…it was awesome!

Weekly round up - Playoff thoughts with Rip and Scotty: Alright, we are liiivvveeee! Once again back at it earning that sweet 6 TPE with some thoughts, shit talking and shout outs! Let’s fire up the “thoughts” portion of things. Playoffs? Playoffs? Yes, we’re talking about playoffs! Sitting in a solid spot, number 3 in the North American conference…that’s right, mighty riders from the north, the Calgary Wranglers! At the end of the year, 7th overall in the league, the Wranglers had a rough last week or so of sims and look to right the ship starting tonight! The best thing about playoffs is you only need a ticket to the dance…you can sneak in as a wild card and win the ‘ship or come in as the obvious number one seed and shit the bed. Whether it’s the 1982 Los Angeles Kings beating the Edmonton Oilers, the 1994 San Jose Sharks shocking the Detroit Redwings or the sun .500 Chicago Blackhawks winning the cup during the 1938 season. History clearly shows that anything is possible when you are able to out your name on the bracket. Lastly, thoughts on teams touching the conference trophy after the game clinching win? Good wholesome celebration of winning a conference title or bad juju that might jinx your club from winning the ultimate prize?! Drop your thoughts in the comments! (I like to think 10’s of people read my media spots! Haha) Alright, moving on. The next part might get personal, it might make people feel a little un uncomfortable..and that’s okay. First up, Sharky! Aka “little” Jakey Thunder! I’m calling you out once again brotherrrr! I’m shocked you’re excelling in the VHL after a disastrous attempt at stardom in EA Sports NHL 22! You were a dumpster fire, undisciplined penalties, out of position all the time and the corniest chirps online! You may have had success in the VHL, but you’re on borrowed time! A broken clock is right twice a day! I don’t see the success lasting! After an off season or hard work, dedication and some well placed TRT shots, Rip is gonna be coming for you Thunder! Next up, “Lame Train”…the time for talk is over, the jokes, the facade, the ducking, dodging and diving is over! First round, game one, first shift…you and me brotherrr, center ice, ditch the buckets! Toe to toe, give me your best shot! Rip will eat that weak left for breakfast before unleashing the fury! All talk, no dick…sums you up quite nicely! But now, the time for talk is over, just you and me…you have nowhere left to run. IF, if we don’t fight during our first playoff game, just know you were too much of a coward to answer the call! And you’ll have to live with that forever! And I’ll end with a quote from the great coach Jack Reilly “Brian, you’re not even as has been, you’re a never was!” No time for a shout out this week! This week is ALL hate and discontent! 506 words

Damn 16 years! Congrats!

Weekly thoughts with The Scotty P. aka Rip Wheeler: All right this week, we are Liiiivvveeee! Welcome back, it’s the old Rip Wheeler aka Scotty P aka Scotty Leandro weekly round up. This week it'll be a mix of a shout out to my favorite player in the VHL, and of course some shit talking to the two most hated mopes to currently lace ‘em up in the Show. All right let’s jump right in…first off let's start with Brian Payne aka “The Lame Train”. We’re gonna focus on one game in particular over the last week…”The Lame Train” had one hit one yes, you read that right…one measly hit in game 575. This was a matchup with Lame’s Vancouver Wolves and the mighty Legion of Toronto. And there’s no other way to tell it boys, Toronto took them to the woodshed with a 5-3 absolute beating. And a sweep of all three stars of the night to top it off! And let’s break it down a bit, you’ve got Mr. Lame/Payne. He says that he's the “pain train”but he's bringing ONE HIT to the table in almost 30 minutes played! One hit doesn’t sound like a lot of “pain” on that train. It sounds like the “Lame Train” didn’t make it out of the station. Clearly Toronto had free rein to dance all over the ice without consequence. Budddyy, you’ve got one job B-Payne, and you get a big “F” from Scotty P. for your week of work son! Next we've got “little” Jakey Thunder playing almost 30 minutes a game with only two assists? We ain’t talking about practice, practice? No this was VHL game 573 against the Seattle Bears (who’ve been en fuego lately!) Now I know that’s more assists than Rip Wheeler has all season, but I digress. Back to the “little” guy…what really stood out to me one shot on goal. “Come on man!” You’re supposed to be the best defenseman in the league and you're getting one shot? One shot, literally…one. We’re talking about one shot on goal, it's just not good enough Jakey! You let your team down, you let the fans down and you let me down! I’m not mad buddy, I’m just disappointed. And that kind of lackluster performance leads to a final score of 6-2, yet another shellacking of one of the two most hated….and you know what? You love to see it! Ok, moving on to some positivity! It’s time for THE shout out of the day and this one goes to you guessed it, the real “pain train”, Mr. Rip Wheeler! Yes, it finally happened (well it's happened a few times this season but not for a while), hell froze over boys, two guns Wheeler actually scored a goal! You read it right, Wheeler and “goal” in the same sentence! And thanks to Leandro G. and Philly Strasmore for the crisp apples on the play. Those guys are studs with 47 and 53 assists respectively this season (at that time). It happened in VHL regular season game number 504 against Riga. It was a hard fought 4-3 win for the Wranglers! And your boy Rip played 26 minutes which I appreciate and he appreciates (shout out to the best GM in the VHL, Ricer!). Now I know Rip only had one hit, but I talked to him and he was really focused on the offensive side of things that game. And unlike the “Lame Train” and “little Jakey”, when the chips were down, when the boys needed him….Rip came through with a huge G-Dubya for the club! It may have only been for one moment in time, but in that moment Rip was to clutch goals as Fireball is to post game cellys in the room….and buddy, the Fireball whiskey was flowing after game number 504, I can guarantee that! There’s nothing in the VHL like the Wranglers locker room after a big win, the Fireball, the Johnny Cash, it’s electric! Sometimes Rip feels like a make-a-wish kid who’s just thrilled to be in the room! We’ve got so many stud players and legends that make up this seasons club, it’s inspiring and Rip is living the dream! 700 words. “Let’s riiiiide”

1) I think making the playoffs in an league in any season is a success…gives you a shot at the ‘ship! 2) Vancouver has been playing tough and we’ve had a rough streak of sims…it’s possible though! 3) it’s been a rough go point wise for Ol Rip…but I think being given the opportunity to play in the show is a success. 4) San Diego, awesome climate, bear the beach. Fun nightlife and good food as well! 5) what kind of keys hang from trees? MonKEYs. Lol 6) Sports, NHL 23…although goldeneye on N64 is one of the GOATS!

The Scotty (P) Leandro weekly update, random thoughts: Ok, here we are, almost 3/4 through season 89. Here’s a few things I’ve learned this season, along with some random thoughts…that will include the famous Rip Wheeler shout outs and of course some shit talking to two of the VHLs most hated (by me) players. First let’s take a look at Ol’ Rip Wheeler. I gotta be honest, the learning curve up here in the show was A LOT steeper than I thought it would be. I felt like I was a weekly contributor last season in the “E” and I hoped this season would be similar. Well, I was wrong. Lol…As I say often about Rip, he’s a big locker room and “glue” type guy. He brings all the intangibles, you know, the ones that don’t show up on the stat sheet, ever. Through 58 games, Rip has lit the lamp twice, and has three helpers. Rip has been on his best behavior, with only 56 PIMs in 58 games. And 103 hits is below standard, but I’d attribute that to Rip trying to stay out of the box and help out the club in any way he can. Ok moving on…it’s time for some shout outs! First off Landon Wolanin has been lighting up the lamp a lot this year! Top 5 in the league in goals, he’s been a huge reason that the Wranglers are primed for a playoff run. Second, Leandrooooo!! Leandro Goncalves has a machine gun like shot and he’s been letting it rip this season. With 536 shots in 58 games and he’s number one in the league by a huge margin! Safe to say, when the puck is on his stick the opposing tendys better have their heads up! Last, but certainly not least…the legend and future Hall of Famer himself Daniel Janser! “DJ” is having yet another stellar season in his farewell tour. He’s number 7 in the league in points with 77 in 58 games. He’s a dangerous player and threat to score anytime he crosses the the red line! For the last 5 seasons Janser has been near the top of the league leaders in points and is a huge reason Calgary has been successful as a franchise. Also, a solid two way player with a great career plus / minus and even some shot block stats thrown in! A two time winner of the Brett Slobodzian Trophy, the Kevin Brooks Trophy and the Mike Szatkowski Trophy! Also, he’s won the Scott Boulet Trophy and the Scotty Campbell Trophy respectively. He was also a huge part of the Wranglers Victory cup and Continental Cup victories! He’s a stud, and his presence on and off the ice will be missed in Calgary next season for sure! It’s crazy, that as a lowly rookie…a young buck, just scraping by to sniff a point and not hurt the team…that Rip Wheeler has gotten the opportunity to play with those guys, and the rest of the Calgary boys! Such an honor. Cheers to a great career DJ!!! Alright, now to the shit talking portion of the program…these two mopes, Brian Payne and “little” Jakey Thunder. Both are obviously in the twilight of their careers and just holding on to past memories and accolades. I mean 71 points in 58 games? C’mon Thunder! That’s barely a point per game! And your plus minus is all the way down to plus 15, a huge drop off from last years plus 25. And don’t even get me started on the drop off in hits! I get it though…especially when you’re playing the Wranglers, you’re just avoiding a trip to the train station! But you look silly tip toeing around like a ballerina! And Paaaayyyne, you’re up next baud. Hits way down, PIMs way down…when you look at yourself in the mirror, do you even recognize the player that i used to look up to? Such a shell of what the “Payne Train” used to be…it’s actually sad…I’m not even mad bro…I’m just disappointed. And the only reason your plus / minus is up is because you switched squads and the Vancouver boys are carrying you like a backpack son! Oh and I almost forgot, both of you Jamokes aren’t even league leaders in assists! Top 5? Whatever…like Rickey Bobby said…”you’re either first, or you’re last!”….so we’re basically tied statistically…740 words boys…step your game up!! On behalf of Rip Wheeler and Scotty Leandro, I’m out!
-
1) Solid coaching, lots of hard work and dedication…and being surrounded by total offensive studs are all contributing factors. 2) I think getting TPE in the E definitely has a lot of benefits. I think whatever Ricer13 decides as far as who gets called up, will be the right move…he’s been an awesome GM! 3) I think some unlucky sims play a factor. Maybe not playing around with line combos? I’m still so new that wrapping my head around why sims go well or don’t is tough. 4) I would say LAs struggles…they seem to have some really solid players, so it’s surprising to not see them higher up in the standings. 5) Peanut Butter Twix! 6) Jersey Shore, the original season! Lol such trash, but definitely entertaining!

Theme Week! Commissioner for a Day: All right same week season 89, 2023…here we go. Commissioner for a day? What would I do , what would I do…As a relative newcomer to the VH L , it's actually a tough question. But, what I would say is I would definitely have a meet up and scrap option! I think being able to meet up with all the haters, the naysayers, the shit talkers…Would be absolutely amazing! Unfortunately, there are a few VHL players that need to be called out. And yes Sharky I'm talking to you or is it “Jake Thunder”. Let me start off by saying not everybody is retired, living their best life typing up 500 word shit talking memos about other players. But, yet here we are. If I was commissioner for a day I would make sure that thunder, Jake thunder was banned 100%…II would also take 500 TPE from scurvy a.k.a. Brian Payne effective immediately! Ok, ok…On a more serious note I would make it easier earn TPE. That would be top priority for me. I constantly struggle to break 10 TPE every week. I know it may not seem like much, but at times it's tough to sit down and crank out five hundred word essays. Moving topics, one thing that I think would be fun, would be to have NHL teams as the VHL teams as opposed to made up teams. (No offense to the Calgary Wrangler whom I love and play for). I think it be cool to have 32 VHL teams all modeled after NHL franchises. I'm sure there's copyright laws and such that may make that impossible but that would be a fun thing for me. Another change I would make is when and if there is fights (and hopefully the fights are between me Brian Payne and Jakey Thunder). It would be really cool to see even an NHL 94 reenactment of the fights. I mean seeing my little pixelated Rip Wheeler character just pummel little Jakey thunder would make me incredibly happy. I think Brian Payne might give me a run for my money, but Jake Thunder is old retired and really, really and I mean really weak. Continuing on…As commissioner I would make discord challenges or TPE opportunities available. I don't know what that would look like but I think they’d be fun! Also as commissioner I would make old-school WWF pre and post game promos mandatory…as a point task, but mandatory. You’d be given 10 TOE for every promo that you cut calling out another player in the league! And you already know, that for me it would definitely be little Jakey Thunder and Brian Payne cause I hate those guys. (And yes I know they’re legends…but I’m the commish!!!) Lastly I would add an option to pay in each season…or you know what let's not make it an option, it’s mandatory! $10 every VHL player in the pot and at the end of the year, the team that wins the cup gets the cash to split! I think that adding some money “skin in the game” to the pot similar to fantasy football or fantasy hockey would peak the interest level of some of us that are struggling completing weekly TPE tasks. Alright, well I'm hoping that this is around 500 words and if it's not then I'll type a little bit more…but it's been real letting you know what I would do as commissioner for a day! ScottyP a.k.a. Rip Wheeler a.k.a. The TGGG guy is out! Wranglers!…as always let's ride!!! 600 words! Bang bang! Take that little Jakey Thunder!
-
1) I would ban two players, Jake Thunder and Brian Payne…that’s it, everything else is great! 2) Just trying to get Rip to contribute daily has been a tough enough challenge! Haha 3) Once a Wrangler, Always a Wrangler! 4) Writing up 500 word articles is a challenge some weeks with my busy work and home life. 5) Kraken had a solid draft, I like the Kailer Yamamoto signing…hoping Vince Dunn signs a long extension! 6) PB and J Allllllll day long!

Post game Interview with Calgary Wranglers rookie Rip Wheeler: Game #355: Q) Alright Mr. Wheeler, thanks for taking a few minutes with us after the game tonight…the Wrangler’s with a big 4-2 win against Moscow. How was the room after the game? A) “Well bud…you know uh, total team win for the boys and uh, ya know it was a battle, true back and forth type of game. The boys really came to play tonight and when the runner met the road, we got the job done”. Q) Ok Rip, fair assessment of the game. How about your performance? You’re still getting some decent playing time, when do you think the puck will start going in the net for you? A) “Well my man, like uh, my good friend and mentor Gretz said..”you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”…and uh, we’ll buddy, I didn’t get any shots on net! Haha but seriously, my roll with the club is a little different than last year in the euro league. I was brought up to the show cuz I’m a T Triple G guy, and that’s what I’m doing night in, night out for the boys”. Q) Well damn Rip! I meant no offense….and are you taking about Wayne Gretzky?! A) “Oh yeah, I met the great one working out on Dutton ranch and uh ya know uh, I gave him some tips on riding and he uh taught me and few things around the rink”. Q) Oh wow, ok! Nothing about goal scoring though huh? A) “Budddddyyyy, you a comedian now? I see where you’re going with this and uh, ya know baud I don’t like it. Q) I apologize Rip, I should’ve said I “meant no disrespect” A) “Well, I’ve enjoyed our time, but the boys just got a big dub and uh ya know, I’m missing on fireball shots as week speak…so I’m out…Wranglers! Let’s riiiide! Q) Alright then Mr. Wheeler, thanks for taking a few minutes away from the celebration….go enjoy the fireball! 337 words claim TPE for this week ending 7/9 and next ending 7/16.
