1) Blazzer, she’s the boss! 2) we’re doing ok, if we string together a few wins, we’ll be right in the mix for 2nd in the conferences 3) Pretty well…wish I had a few more Hits, but Rip has been working hard in the weight room, so hopefully the aggressive play continues to escalate. 4) Mexico City is a buzzsaw so far this season. 5) Rip…I feel like all good nicknames come from whatever the boys are feelin’…not gonna give myself a nickname…if it happens it happens. 6) bacon and maple….either bacon with pancakes and syrup or a bacon maple bar…taste combo us .

Interview with rookie Rip Wheeler, VHLM - Las Vegas Aces: Q) Welcome Rip, thanks for taking the time to sit down for a few minutes after your debut action in the VHL…So how’s it feel to have a few games under your belt? A) “Man, what a wild ride…you know I was uh, happy just to get the uh first game jitters out of the way and go out there and hit somebody!” Q) Ok. Ok, very nice…haha…so what was the best part about stepping out in the ice opening night? A) “Just gettin’ it goin’ with the boys, and uh, working hard, nose to the grindstone…Ol’ ESD with the hatty against Halifax, just playin’ lights out for the club looking like Bobby Orr out there!…oh and uh, Varly and Simmer too, the boys up front were definitely gettin it after it…and uh, yeah, we’re definitely getting some confidence growing in the room sure.” Q) Ok Rip, any parting bits of wisdom or random thoughts? A) “I just wanna keep up the momentum, put on a show for the great fans in Vegas and uh keep racking up some more dubyas for the club.” Q) Sounds like a good plan, thanks the time Rip. A) “Anytime…Aces up!”

Well, I have been officially introduced to the VHL by my real-life buddies @Scurvy (Brian Payne) and @thunder (Jake Thunder). Both have seemed to have made some really awesome players in this league I am just barely understanding. I try hard to navigate the forums, player management page, whatever the hell the Index thing is, discord, and trying to find where I locate where I submit tasks to where I have to claim them. Scurvy tells me there was a learning curve but I had no idea just how lost I would be. But I am trying! I was picked up as a free agent by Las Vegas which is cool and I have received 2nd and 4th line minutes with my goal to produce as much TPE as possible to get the call up to the first line and make myself a valuable pick in the next draft. I’ve been reading the forum a bit and still confused as to whether my next season is in the European league or to the Show. I guess I’ll try to keep earning, although I really feel stupid not knowing what to write. I guess I will talk about how I’d like to build my player. I’d like Rip to be a nasty gritty forward who loves to hit, score, and even get the occasional tilt. I think players like Tom Wilson, Eric Lindros (minus the concussions), and Turner Stevenson (*shoutout to former Seattle Thunderbird great). I have such little TPE right now to even make Rip close to these greats, but I am trying. The other hard thing right now is where the hell to I place my points to make my dude valuable in the league????? I put a few points in scoring and some in checking but they go fast. Scurvy told me to purchase some shit in player store and then something got denied. LOL I am excited for the league to start today but I feel I am going to be so shitty. I also look at other’s TPE and cringe thinking that I have to write a million articles to gather that many points! I have zero ability to create cool graphics so that isn’t even an option, and I am at that age where doing a podcast even confuses me. So get ready for some pointless articles until I get my feet under me here! haha Who knows, maybe I will grow to like writing them after I see Rip Wheeler in some box scores. This is a pretty cool thing but very intimidating for me right now. Scurvy says it will get easier and him and Jake Thunder truly love playing here and rave about the league. For now I will remain oblivious to some stuff and hope to get comfortable navigating the forum and stuff. Thank you all for being patient as I fumble my way through this. Hopefully Rip will get his first VHLM points, a few hits, and maybe a tilt to help Vegas win tonight! -Rip

1) Yes, from what I’ve heard, Juan is a real team guy and it would be well deserved. 2) Yes! Couldn’t be happier…Vegas is my kind of town and I’m ready to get some games under my belt. 3) Vegas. Varlamov in the 2nd round is an absolute steal! 4) Definitely better than last season. New blood in the mix should help get us back winning some games. 5) I think that Vegas will be in the top spot when it’s all said and done. Gonna shock the league! 6) Current: Vince Dunn / All time: Tie Domi

Press Conference The league seems like it will be alot of fun once I get the hang of it. I have a few buddies who have been at it for awhile and they love it. No, seems well run to me. I did not. My goals are to get my feet wet, get the hang of the weekly points and make a good impression with my teammates. No idea who the favorite would be. C) GMs would be getting a hard working, physical presence. A total team guy willing to do whatever it takes to get the W.

Rip Wheeler - Origin Story Rip Wheeler’s story is one of tragedy, hard work and perseverance. A quick google search will provide the backstory of the young orphan boy taken in by the ranch baron of Montana. Cutting his teeth growing up on the Yellowstone Dutton ranch he learned about grit, toughness and loyalty. But, after working his way up from ranch hand to boss of the bunkhouse, he was left wanting more. One night, Rip was flipping through late night cable TV when everything changed. Rip has always had love and admiration for the red, white and blue. But that night, the blue, white and yellow of the Charlestown Chiefs became his new obsession. Rip was a few whiskeys deep, but he knew the only place he could truly be free was out on the ice. Using the Hanson brothers and Reggie Dunlap as role models, he began to study. The skating, the lingo, the aggressive brand of old school hockey and of course, the foil! Over the next few weeks, Rip watched Slapshot twice a day to learn the ways of the hockey warrior. After two weeks of intense study, Rip decided to hang up his stirrups for good. He went to his local play it again sports and bought his first pair of CCM Tacks, the original 652s with the pump! With that Rip left Montana and headed to the Hockeytown, USA. The story resumes with Rip putting down roots in Warroad, Minnesota. He traded his cowboy hat in for a beat up CCM backwards dad hat, his Carhart jacket for a Violent Gents hoody, and glasses of whiskey for sixer’s of Hamms. He rented a crappy one bedroom apartment and began to hit every stick time, drop in or open skate he could find. Even though ice skating is nothing like riding a horse, Rip was a natural. Rip started to light it up during stick time and backed up his chirps by taking down some of the drop-in goons. His exploits began to peak the interest of local beer league captains. He continued to work hard and keep his nose to the grindstone. Soon enough Rip was playing on 3 separate beer league teams as he continued his rapid development into a serviceable hockey player. Rip’s fighting prowess and toughness is well documented. He always prided himself on being a T-Triple G or “Team Guy, Glue Guy”. He loved and respected the brotherhood of the beer league. Beloved by his teammates and hated by the opposition, Rip wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. His pre and post game beer journey continued, but he felt destined for the bigger stage. Rip’s quick development of silky mits around the net began to take the local hockey scene by storm. Rip started to transform from beer league all star to legit prospect. Rip began to make a habit of goin’ bardownski on the daily and collecting gino’s and apples like a certified beauty. Rip again had a decision to make. Stay a beer league superstar or take the next step into the unknown. As much as he enjoyed being a big fish in a beer soaked pond, Rip wanted more. It was at that point that he decided to take his talents to the Victory Hockey League. He packed his bags and waited for the call… 555 words
