Originally, neither. I had a bunch of periods and typed out the thing about there not being a character limit, not getting cut off or reaching the limit. Then I went back to it after readying the post and discovered that I was two characters away from the limit. So I changed it so it looked like I was actually cut off.

People can choose to put in the effort they choose to put in, and (for the most part) will be rewarded accordingly (unless you make a defenseman, in which case you get fucked 98% of the time).

No, we can not agree on that. The league is more than just welfare and point tasks. It may be the case, but it's definitely not "quite clear" and certainly not strictly the truth. Consider that point tasks don't even have to be good quality anymore. It's just 6 TPE for submitting, and maybe there are some guidelines, such as "it can't be pure shit" or something like that. But some people could be pumping out media spots/graphics in 10-15 minutes for 6 TPE while another guy claims 4 TPE for pension and updates players for two hours for an additional 2 TPE.

But he does it to such great success.

I'm going to have to strongly disagree with this suggestion, but maybe that's just because I'm a pensioner who doesn't have a job. Then again, I don't bring much to the league anyway, right?

Created players now get the greater of 30 TPE or carryover, up to 75 TPE. So new guys do have some free TPE to begin.

I do think getting rid of pension upgrade, or at least pension II upgrade wouldn't be a terrible idea to hopefully increase the number of xm articles

I'm saying if you're going to compare pension to point tasks, and you are factoring in the pension upgrade to get 5 tpe, then you also need to factor in the point task upgrade which allows you to get 7 tpe per point task. Also, most 2 tpe jobs are typically going to take more effort than doing a point task. So pension plus job is more effort than a point task, but equal in reward. Even if you are collecting 4 for pension, you are going to have to put in some extra effort to keep up with people doing point tasks.

You guys seriously need to quit saying pension is worth five points. By that logic, then point tasks are worth seven. And the point task upgrade is cheaper than the Pension II upgrade you need to purchase to be able to get five TPE. And look at the damn people who are collecting Pension. They are people who do bring activity to and participate actively in the league, even if they aren't doing point tasks. Last week we had both VHLM commissioners, three VHL GM's, and two members of the BoG collect pension. It's not just people logging in, collecting pension, and ignoring the league otherwise.

But how will getting rid of pension promote activity? Green and I saying we wouldn't be here without pension isn't just us bluffing, trying to get out of doing point tasks. It's the truth. If we weaken pension too much, we'll lose members who otherwise would still be around. Now, I guess if your argument is that keeping pension as is will deter new members from the league, you could maybe have a case. But I doubt that the people who are currently on welfare/pension would opt to do point tasks if the option was taken away.

I don't know for sure if he still does, but he spent time as the guy who updates players in the sim each week as well, which I think may have been a 2 TPE job that probably took more time each week than it takes for most media spots/graphics that are made.

The people who have been here longer and have had multiple players have also done a lot of point tasks in the past. It's not always just a matter of time, but it can also be a bit of a struggle to continue to write media spots after you've already written hundreds in your time here.

Same. And while I don't write media spots or make graphics as much as I used to, but I still occasionally will, but only because I'm even still around. And there will be periods of times where for a month or so, I'll write a media spot each week. Then maybe I get burnt out on it for a few months. Without getting that 4 TPE per week, it's very likely I wouldn't stick around. I like to think I bring a unique presence to the league that, although maybe not missed by all, would be noticed if I were to be gone. I hate to bring it up, because it's always my go-to when I like to feel important, but career stats would not be a thing without me. No one else has ever consistently updated them like I have (sure, maybe because I've been doing it for so long and if I were gone, someone else would step up), but when I was gone for a few seasons not doing it, they were 2-3 seasons out of date when I returned. Also, just for the record, saying "4 or 5 TPE" is kind of incorrect. You can only get 5 if you make the store purchase, and it's an inefficient purchase at that. Though I actually wouldn't argue if we got rid of the option to buy a Pension II upgrade, just to maybe get people to buy a VHL.com/Radio upgrade and do those articles at least.
