  1. Unfortunately no, lol. I work for a private contractor tree company in Connecticut. Though that is a bit odd, we usually call trees against lines and such our problem not the customers. Sounds like your power company and town don't get along!
  2. Fradin McGryer S91 - Riga 11 Goals (+2 from S90) 27 Assists (+0 from S90) 174 SOG (+58 from S90) 144 PIM (+52 from S90) 164 Hits (+22 from S90) 88 Blocked Shots (-86 from S90) 1 Playoff Series (+1 from S90) Riga Defenseman Fradin McGryer has finished his second season with the VHL. As the stats show, he's raised in nearly every category. Though Riga was hardly in the rough position as the rebuilding Calgary team from the season prior. The Boston native was traded over prior to the beginning of season 91, Calgary hopeful to shed one of it's more hard nosed players in hopes to speed up their rebuild. The scale of that success is too early to be measured, for both the Defenseman's career and the rebuild of Calgary. Fradin is no stranger to being traded about the league. He's never played more than a season for any team. He joined San Diego as an undrafted Free agent in season 88. Only to jump up to Vasteras the following season, traded a handful of games after to the no longer existent team of Geneva. After the dissolving of the Rush, McGryer was called up to Calgary. Where he learned under one of the VHL's grittier leaders, Phil Strasmore. A player that Fradin had throughout his second season, praised and expressed to be as much an idol as a mentor. That physical knowledge and experience was brought across the sea to Riga, where his hard hitting flourished. The Reign finished a point shy of leading the European Conference. The Assistant Captain, McGryer, went down swinging in typical fashion in the playoffs with a decisive bout against Wann Kerr of London. Though whatever is to be made of his past seasons, the present of the off season holds uncertainty for his future. "I understand it's no secret to anyone that my contract has ended this off season. I can honestly say i've no idea where i'm going for the future. That doesn't mean I won't stay here in Riga, but if they decide to allow me to go on my way, I will promise that you will see me on the ice at the very least playing for someone. Grit is not as beloved in this league by scouts as it once was. But no one can win a cup without it, and I will gladly go apply my talents.. if you could call them that, where they're wanted." With no official date for free agency yet on the calendars, it will be an interesting watch to see who will make offers for this high tempered third year defenseman. Rumors may swirl and speculation can run wild, though it's highly likely to be entirely snuffed out by a simple contract offer from Riga. Whom neither party has yet expressed displeasure in the other. Though, the same could've been said about any of McGryer's teams. The safer bet for your money could likely be to follow the trend of him leaving yet another team before playing two seasons for them. Who lands this Enforcer next? 515 words for 12/24/23
  3. 1. Better than expected for a team who lost so much of their core. At the heart, Captain Philly and Cow just seem to be ignoring the idea of the 'tank' and are thriving. 2. Much the same of how our games are actually going now, most if not all are close and I really couldn't ask for more. Although some more W's would be nice. 3. Rankings aside, Calgary should definitely be bringing the Janser name back to the squad! Rooting for Callum! 4. I've no opinion on the TDL, I think the draft is where we'll make the most change. 5. I've got a pup named Bear. A rescue dog I got a year ago. 6. Fall for sure. The afternoons are still relatively warm, and the whole day warrants sweater wearing.
  4. 1. Puckstopper M.D. has been fantastic given what we've set the goal for this season. He's taking the opportunity to remain hot and show he won't take a step back this season. 2. Rip's been great so far this season! Having a solid player on the lineup will never hurt as long as the rest of us live up to our potential and match his play. 3. I've personally no problem with 2FA, though I won't speak for everyone on this matter. 4. As being the man himself, I love a good roast. Meat, Potatoes, Green veggies. I like balanced and hearty meals and would share that love with the team. 5. Black coffee, Four eggs scrambled with bacon between two slices of toast. Hot sauce all over. 6. I played right defense for two years in high school. I was never much for skating, left it to the professionals as I returned to my focus of wrestling.
  5. Following tonight's game against the Toronto Legion, Rookie Alternate Captain Fradin McGryer of the Calgary Wranglers gave his thoughts on what it was like playing against his childhood icon, Ronan Lavelle. "Well. Awestruck is the biggest feeling I think I had at first. I mean, coming from Mass there's a big Irish presence there. And just growing up, watching him play and sort of modeling how I handle certain situations around him. It's obviously different, defender to winger. But a lot of that physical, hard nosed play is universal around the ice. I followed him since the start of his run in Geneva, and the guy just lit the lamp every year. I mean, who didn't love watching him? We played physical and obviously his team came out on top. I don't think him being on the other team affected my play any more than usual, despite my stints in the box. It was cool, the way he sort of joked about dropping gloves. A big respect thing, I obviously wasn't going to do it without a big enough reason. We exchanged a few hits, a joke or two between shifts. But it was very rewarding to work as hard as I did to get here, meet a hero of mine, and find he's just as good of a man as I hoped. And the way he continues to love the game? I still want to be just like that..." 240 words for 8/27
  6. In his first ten games at the VHL level, Rookie Alternate Captain Fradin McGryer has shouldered his way into the roster. Starting on the second pairing, the rookie defender has amounted seven points. Now this won't be a record pace or get him past rookie of the year frontrunner Jeff Lewis of Moscow who sits four points ahead of him. But given the rebuild Calgary is currently starting, playing this year strong despite the odds against his club could send a positive message to the rest of his locker room, management, and free agents of the following offseason. This rookie doesn't plan to keep his head down through a clear cut rebuild nor will he sit in the dark and let his first season go to waste. McGryer has amassed twenty-five hits, eighteen blocked shots, and ten penalty minutes. His PIMs, have all come over his last four games. Possibly pointing to his hot headed history in the lower leagues returning and becoming a highlight once more. This is a talented defensive defender, but Calgary certainly knew of his temper before the draft and likely planned on it putting butts in seats. With him wearing a letter behind Captain Phil Strasmore, whom is also no angel on the ice, Calgary's mission is seeming to come to light on relying on hard hits and lengthy penalty box sittings to keep fans interested. Frontrunning Calgary's point leaders, McGryer shares the top spot with fellow rookie Steve Lattimer, and Captain Phil Strasmore. The Boston native shared some insight into playing with Calgary's new Captain following his game with Toronto today. "...He's like the cool uncle, you know? He's all jokes, smiles, and loves to take you to random restaurants no one's heard of. But on the ice he gets that competitive side, where you have to treat him entirely differently so you don't mess up the fishing trip. I might be reaching too far into personal experience there, but that's just the best I can put it. Every night we step on that ice and there's no talks of 'tanking' or the like. We step on ready for battle and none of us want to let Philly down." Between Lattimer, Dilson, and McGryer it is becoming highly apparent just how good the development team is in Calgary. Their most recent success as an honorable mention, Vincent Leroche-Gagnier. The Wranglers had shipped off the bulk of their core following the retirement of Daniel Janser. With a plethora of picks in these next two drafts, this gives players like McGryer time to flourish and be ready to compliment the high level, young talent that Calgary is no doubt planning to infuse into their roster as fast as they can. Goaltender Merome Dilson has been playing well above expectations with this stripped Wranglers core, boasting a .935 with two shutouts already (One more than last season), Calgary did very well to keep him signed through Season 92. And with Captain Strasmore out there clearly keeping his team focused, this should be one of the quicker rebuilds in not only the franchise's, but the league's history. 519 words for 8/27

  9. You did really well with the implementation of the VHL Logo! Getting both the black and white versions on the center and the collar makes it look really authentic. The background blends in very well with the sunflare on the logo and lettering. I wasn't completely sold on the purple at first but after looking at it a little longer I think it blends in very well to make it more interesting than the black and white. Your choice in player model is excellent and the pose of said player works very well. This is professional grade work and it is clear you really put time and effort into these just like your signatures before. 10/10 from me.
  10. The Geneva Rush, soon to be rebranded and folded into the Vasteras Iron Eagles, fell in five games to the cup winning Cologne Express. The games were high shooting, hard hitting, and saw plenty of electric saves from the goaltending. And arguably one of the most notable players during that series from the Rush, Fradin McGryer, has now been revealed to have been playing through a fractured fibula. The defender recounts on exactly when he took such an injury. "...During game two, I was battling Keon Jeannot in front of the net. And I remember hearing the clap of a slapshot up by the blue line and next thing I know pain shot up my leg. It was swollen the size of a baseball down there but. Doubled up on socks and tape, played through for the boys..." McGryer had 4 points in 5 games. 26 hits and 20 blocked shots to lead the playoffs. He will be out four to six weeks in recovery at the facilities in Calgary, where he will be playing next season and his rookie VHL season at that. 184 words 8/6/2023

  13. The Geneva Rush have just gone down three games to none against the Cologne Express. Leaving little hope and no other option than a reverse sweep needed to move on to the finals. The games have been close, in fact much closer than they had any right to be given the difference in shots and possession. A highlight for Geneva and someone who desperately needs help out on the ice is netminder Travis Clark. Clark has taken 150 shots against him in just three games. For clarity Justin Lion, Cologne's goalie has only had to face 83. That's almost a 70 shot difference between the two. Yet Clark maintains a .933 save percentage to Lion's .928. The five year VHLE veteran is doing all he can to hold his team up and stay in the fight, but the team can't keep the rain of German shots away from their zone. Where is the defense in all this you may ask? Well leading the Rush defense in almost all categories is none other than Alternate Captain, the rookie, Fradin McGryer. McGryer holds two points in three games, 18 hits, 14 blocked shots, and 10 penalty minutes with a +1 rating. Delivering his physical presence as promised, almost too much. For a player having this much impact on the ice, it's astonishing between his hits and his penalties to include kneeing and slashing that he hasn't found an opponent to drop the gloves with. The Massachusetts native gave a statement after game 3 in regards to how it felt being down 3-0 in his first VHLE playoff series. "Obviously it's not a great feeling. It's a bit of a loaded question I think in that regard. But I will promise you'll see an increased drive in our guys on the ice come game four. We're hungry, obviously for the cup which would be Geneva's first but right now the other leadership and myself are focused on one win at a time. If we're going to pull this out, our prime concern has to be limiting shots on T-Clark. Cologne is a high octane offense and it's certainly taken some of our other guys some time to keep up with the pacing but I think we can pull it out. And if not? Well. I still owe Gamble a little payback for dropping Turtle." Keegan Gamble, former San Diego Marlin and close friend of McGryer found himself matching the defenseman in points this playoffs. The Canadian forward also decisively won in a fight against Geneva forward Dank Turtle in game 3. Not known for his physical play, Gamble seems to have taken notes from his previous teammate and thrown his weight around a bit to really drive in the wins against the Rush. Cologne's not the only series up 3-0. Istanbul also found it's way to a three game win lead over Rome. Both teams have a chance to clinch out tonight and although they weren't the seeded favorite matchup, they certainly will be a much more interesting offensive matchup than some of the other possible pairings. Will we see a reverse sweep this semi-final? Or will the Vegas odds win out and both Rome and Geneva go home tonight and start their offseason early? 543 words set for 7/30/23

  15. As the AGM of the Cologne Express, there are three players I predict from my roster to really put themselves out there and play far and above their previous experience in the post season. The first will be Captain Keon Jeannot. Keon increased his points in the regular season by 64 points from his previous year. He's playing on an improved and well rounded Express team, and his need to be as physical has drastically decreased. Lower PIM, higher points, and almost 400 more shots on net than the previous season, the 6'8 Canadian will surely improve on his zero points in seven playoff games from last season. Secondly is S86 defenseman Sigma Freud. Freud has put up a career 94 point season. 28 goals, 14 Powerplay Goals. This player will be the one to watch for any high penalty taking team. Which makes Freud in my opinion an excellent matchup against Geneva, a team with almost 100 more PIMS collectively than the Express over the regular season. Playing with a more defense core than previous seasons, Freud will have a lot less weight to shoulder and that should show on the ice. Finally, I have Alternate Captain Thor Odinson. Odinson came over from Stockholm where they played two seasons before flying to Germany. Odinson put up 87 points playing on the top line on the left of first year Keegan Gamble. Odinson, playing on their off wing, put 505 shots on net this season and increased their points by 40 from the previous season. After missing the playoffs last year in Stockholm, Odinson will now have the opportunity to be the driving force of the offense this post season. And with enough well placed shots, could lead the team to their second Renaissance cup. 295 words 7/23/23
  16. Happy birthday to the VHL!
  17. The regular season has ended in the VHLE, and during the last few games the second overall pick Fradin McGryer surprised many fans in Geneva with a stitched A across his chest. The Massachusetts native had come to the team after just two games played for Vasteras, in what now looks like a completely one sided trade. McGryer flew from Sweden to Switzerland and immediately got to work. He was very highly spoken of by management, coaching, and especially his teammates. The young star finished the season top 10 in all categories among defensemen, and even lead his team in goals on the powerplay. The GM went out and got a big body defenseman who is very vocal about enjoying his physical play and he certainly delivered. McGryer finished the season with 64 points, 21 goals (13 on the powerplay), 229 hits, 170 blocked shots, and 118 PIMS. A note on this particular season for the defenseman is none of these PIMS went to fighting, something he made a habit of in his VHLM season. Now whether this is him maintaining his own temper, or the plethora of players on Geneva who love to throw their own knuckles around is undetermined. The right hand shot defender also spoke up about his season, the team, and his new letter in a press conference held at the end of the last game of the season. "...It's been wonderful to play here in Geneva. The Rush quickly made me feel welcome and I feel like I returned the favor by playing my game out there just as they expected me to. I'm not going to promise a sixty point season every year, but the physicality is almost exactly where I planned to have it. Some games were harder when the other team plans to steer away from you but that's the sort of thing numbers can't give the proper value on how much that helps the game for your team. I loved playing next to Big B, they've been an excellent partner out there on the blue line and their ability to help the forwards score is something that really compliments my less point driven style. I also really felt at home when they traded for Shubham Anand. I was drafted with him to both Vasteras and Calgary and it just felt right to play with him in front of me again. The A was a huge surprise, you know? I showed up to the locker room one day and it was there on my sweater. There wasn't really a conversation or presentation about it. I just sort of took it and continued my style on and off the ice like I did the rest of the year, and the year before in San Diego. I wouldn't call myself a vocal leader, but I seem to have a lead by presence sort of thing going that management likes. Hopefully I can help the guys get their wins in the post season. Thank you.." Geneva is set to take on Cologne in the first round, the two teams were constantly fighting one another for that second place spot once it was clear Istanbul was pulling away with first. Among Cologne's players, a notable one to watch the interaction with is Keegan Gamble. Gamble, a winger turned center, is a former Marlin and very publicly a friend of Fradin's. The two often went out away from their teams to spend time together whenever they were set to play against each other. Will these Alternate Captains avoid each other on the ice? Or will the playoff tension bubble over and give us a show of fists on the ice? Only time will tell, and this, should be a fun series to follow. 626 words for 7/23/23
  18. 1. MVP for us in my AGM opinion, has been Thor Odinson. Thor came over from another team, stepped into a secondary leadership role, and almost doubled their points from the previous season. The growth and teamwork i've seen over the season has been exactly what I love to see in the VHLE. 2. Bit late as i'm doing this, but I will tell you WHY I think we got 3rd. We held on to a lot of games and went to OT and Shootouts, and not being able to clinch those games ultimately led us to fall below Geneva. 3. I'm very pleased with how many of our players have been playing, we've seen a lot of great first year talent like Keegan Gamble and Montgomery Burns light the lamp. As well as veteran talent like Keon Jeannot and Thor Odinson having career seasons. 4. With the way our team has performed, i'd like to continue AGMing for the Express. But there have been rumors of a GM spot opening up...we'll see. 5. Roasted Brussel sprouts. No doubt. Love those things. 6. The Mummy with Brendan Fraser. 21. The following is a statement listed from Fradin McGryer's social media, addressing fans old and new. "I wanted to wait until I was properly settled here in Geneva before I addressed you all as a whole. My fans and Geneva's fans across Europe, and those back home in the States and Canada. It took me admittedly a bit longer than it should've, and the trade between Vasteras to here definitely had a part to play in that. But I am here to speak with you all now, and it is the perfect time to announce I will be playing another season in the VHLE. After speaking with management at both the VHLE and VHL level in Calgary, I determined it was the best thing for my career and development to play another season here. I've felt nothing but welcomed no matter where i've gone here in the VHLE circuit, and that's been a key part in easing my nerves in stepping up a level in play. Of course it's helped a lot of my friends from the M came up at the same time, and I take turns seeing them around the league. I hope to bring my very best to each and every game I play under Geneva, and including next season I hope to be that more experienced player helping the new class get a feel for the pace of the E." "Now, this season isn't over yet. Especially not for us in Geneva. We've plenty more hockey and I promise to try and get you that top spot in the rankings Rush fans. I had a rocky start but now the hits and points are rolling together game by game. I'll post a couple of the bruises I got in that last game against Cologne. I think the stats had me blocking eight shots that game, felt more like twenty. Anyways I wanted to thank you all for accepting me into your league and I hope to properly repay you the best way that I can. Big hits and trophies." Fradin McGryer in 49 games has 41 points, 120 shots blocked, and 151 hits. He's top 10 in defenders in the league in all categories and only seems to rise as the back half of the regular season has come along. With the promise of sticking around Switzerland for another season after this one, we could see an explosion of these numbers by next year. And if the Rush and their fans are lucky? A cup or two lead by this defender and the explosive offense in front of him. 433 Words
  22. The Geneva Rush have traded with Vasteras for a former San Diego Marlin. We've seen a lot in this S89 draft class and here's another reunion. Shubham Anand has found his way to Switzerland and found himself reunited with defender Fradin McGryer. Both players played the entire regular and post season last season under San Diego. Both of these players found themselves drafted by Vasteras and were separated at the beginning of the season. The Winger has found himself on the powerplay with his former teammate and both players have expressed great excitement to see each other once more. In the eight games Shubham has played for Geneva, he's notched a total of two goals and boasts a +5 rating out there on the ice. Only taking a single minor penalty in those eight games, Shubham proves he brings a mental game that compliments the penalty heavy Geneva roster. This is player they can rely on special teams, as well as five on five capabilities. If his point production ramps up, it would not be too far fetched to say we would see Geneva reclaim the top spot in the standings. The coaching staff hopes this addition will rein in some of the PIMs his hothead counterpart likes to accumulate, without the cost of his physical game. 217 for 7/9/2023
