  1. I'm hoping he wasn't an arcehole in the courtroom or else it may have gone poorly.
  2. After being selected seventh overall in the S39 VHLM Entry Draft, Soren Douffet is hopeful that Ottawa will be the right spot for him to develop as a player and a man. "Ottawa was one of the two teams to contact me prior to the draft, so I know they wanted me from the beginning, which is reassuring. It is nice to be on a team where you know they targeted you and did not just take you because nobody was left," said Douffet. In Ottawa, Douffet will have numerous top prospects surrounding him, most of whom are about ready to lace up the skates in the VHL, but are staying down for one last shot at the Founders Cup. "I do not want to let them all down. As the goalie, our success rests on my shoulders. The forwards will score, the defensemen will defend, but at the end of the day, I need to keep the puck out of the net. If I cannot do that, we will lose and that is the end of it," said Douffet. "If we are to go where the General Manager and everybody else thinks we can, I cannot be a disappointment." This motivation to not disappoint his teammates is likely exactly what Douffet needs according to his agent Mathias Chouinard. "Both of my last two players, Simmons and Linguini, turned out into usable players. However, they lacked the fire under their ass to become good or great. Soren has that fire, as he does not want to disappoint his team. That motivation will push him onto be a complete success," said Chouinard. Only time will tell, but Ottawa is definitely hoping that Douffet reaches his promise and more. 287 words

  7. Will Soren Douffet become the top goalie prospect of S40? The S40 Goalies by Thor Ludvigsen, VHL.com As with every season in the VHL, there are plenty of goalie prospects entering their name's into the hat for the S39 VHLM Entry Draft and, soon, the S40 VHL Entry Draft. This year, there are three such players and all of them pack considerable promise. By writing this article, we here at VHL.com hope to introduce you to the three young men who are hopeful in their ability to become the next big thing between the pipes. Skovsgard hopes to continue to lead the pack Gunnar Skovsgard, Denmark First up we have Gunnar Skovsgard, the goalie who hails from Copenhagen, Denmark. As of today, the young Dane is the furthest along in his development of the three with 73 logged practice hours. For that reason, he is expected to be the first of the three taken in the S39 VHLM Entry Draft. If things stay the same throughout S39, expect to see him also be the first goalie to be selected in the S40 VHL Entry Draft. As far as his skills go, he is very, very raw, but then again, what goalie prospect is not raw at this stage? He does not do many things well and is very prone to giving up rebounds, allowing for easy scoring chances. However, he is phenomenally quick. It takes barely any time at all for him to use his hands to block a shot. Skovsgard's hand speed is undoubtedly his major strength and it also separates him from the competition, as neither of the other two prospects have great hand speed. In fact, both are rather slow in that regard. Another plus for the "Danish Wonder" is his reaction time. He will need to improve upon it further to make it in the VHL, but at this stage in his development, his reaction time is a definite strength. Of the three goalies, it is also interesting to note that Skovsgard is the shortest and the lightest. Standing 6'2" and weighing 192 pounds, he is just two inches shorter than Ikier Manushez, but is 28 pounds lighter than Soren Douffet. Now, he will undoubtedly be out to prove that his height and weight are meaningless, but it is certainly interesting to note. Manushez is one tall goalie Ikier Manushez, Italy Born in Italy, Manushez has logged 53 practice hours thus far, placing him as the second best goalie prospect in this season's draft. Of the three prospects, he is the only lefty and will definitely be out to prove to his fellow prospects that being a lefty in net is better than being a righty. Much like Skovsgard, Manushez is very raw. However, he has really made an effort to improve his reaction time and that effort has paid off, as he is head and shoulders the best in that attribute of the three. Aside from his reaction time, however, Manushez is pretty much in the early stages of his development. As the tallest prospect in the draft at 6'4", he is just beginning to learn how to use that size to his advantage and is also just starting the process of developing his own goalie style. Interestingly enough, Manushez is also the oldest goalie prospect, as he is the old man of the bunch at 27, compared to the teenagers he is playing against. Whether his age will hurt him at all remains to be seen, but one could certainly argue that it is an advantage, as this is last chance at a hockey career and he also has far more wisdom than a player like Douffet would have at age 18. Look for Manushez to instantly become a leader on whatever VHLM team drafts him. Soren Douffet, Belgium Born in Antwerp, Belgium, Douffet is the newest prospect in the S39 VHLM Entry Draft and as such, he has logged the fewest practice hours with just 23 to his name. However, he has certainly shown great work ethic thus far and if either Skovsgard or Manushez slack, it would not be shocking to see Douffet stage a comeback. In contrast to the other two, Douffet has no major strength, though he certainly seems to be focusing on improving his rebound control, which his competitors have largely ignored thus far. He also has a decent reaction time to shots and decent hand speed, though both are far away from being at acceptable levels. As the new guy of three, Douffet is obviously the least developed, but also appears to be the biggest project of the three. For this reason, he is expected to be the third goalie selected, but he also may have the highest ceiling of the three, so he is definitely somebody to keep an eye on. If he lives up to the hype, Douffet may have many VHLM General Managers wondering why they did not select him. 825 words
  8. What happened to naming him Faggo?

  10. Just last week, Belgian goalie Soren Douffet declared his intent to play in the VHLM this season. Now, he has been contacted by two teams who have him near the top of their draft boards. "It is exciting to be contacted by General Managers who I may wind up lacing up the skates for," said Douffet. "The two gentlemen who contacted me have told me they have me pegged as a first round pick. But, looking at who else is available, particularly at goalie, I would not be surprised to slip to later on in the draft." Where and when Douffet goes is certainly something to follow, as there are two other goalies eligible for this year's draft, both further along in their development than him, leading many to believe he will go third of the three. However, if two teams have him pegged as a first rounder, it is entirely possible he could be seen as one of the better goalies due to his great potential. His agent, Spangle, has reportedly been promising that Douffet will be better than Chouinard, which is certainly a lofty promise to make and one that will be difficult to live up to. 199 words
  11. For the most part I agree, in particular about "turning your brain off". It's not that I don't want to, but sometimes I simply cannot. That is not to say I don't sometimes enjoy those types of films, but it's a struggle to do so at times. As for Wahlberg, he certainly is not a good actor, but as I said before, when put in the right spot with a good director, he can show that he is not all bad.
  12. GOTZE!!!!!
  13. What a chance for Hoewedes.
  14. Devise clearly does not get these vibrations.
  15. Wahlberg was great in The Departed and The Fighter though. Get him a good director and good script and he does not suck.
  16. A new player has made himself eligible for the S39 VHLM Entry Draft and his name is Soren Douffet. Born in Antwerp, Belgium, Douffet has spent his whole life in Belgium and is finally ready to take on the best the VHL has to offer. "I got noticed by this agent who goes by the name 'Spangle'. He has had three guys in the VHL prior to me and brings a lot of experience to the table. I am excited to learn from him and become a top goalie in the VHL one day," said an excited Douffet. "This is my first goalie prospect, so there will certainly be a learning curve as I navigate my way through everything. Plus, a lot has changed since I was last here full time. Teams like the Quebec City Meute and Cologne Express are foreign to me (though I called Cologne being a relocation/expansion spot a long time ago). Same goes for much of the VHLM, as the Ottawa Lynx, Yukon Rush, Bratislava Watchmen, Moscow Red Wolves, and Turku Outlaws, are brand new to me. There will be a learning curve in terms of those teams, but the biggest one will be the new members who I may not entirely familiar with. But, I will try to adjust quickly," said Spangle. Only time will tell how Douffet develops, but both player and agent seem very excited to tackle the VHLM. Many scouts believe he could develop into the next top goalie in the league, so it will be interesting to see if those beliefs come to fruition. 264 words
  17. Mathias Chouinard while with the Calgary Wranglers WHERE ARE THEY NOW? by Thor Ludvigsen, VHL.com Long ago, the agent known as "Spangle" was a revered name in the VHL due to his efforts in creating borderline Hall of Fame winger Mathias Chouinard. However, since Chouinard left the VHL following three straight cup wins, a VHLM championship, and a pair of Gold Medals in the World Cup, Spangle has swung and missed on two straight prospects. After Chouinard, he immediately turned his attention to center JaMarcus Simmons, who was hyped as a power forward who was not afraid to use his body as a weapon. However, he quickly flopped and left the VHL to try his hand elsewhere. Spangle then turned his attention to Italian defenseman Mario Linguini who, like Simmons, had plenty of hype surrounding him when he first declared his intent to play in the VHL. Sadly, he wound up being a bust as well, though he did have a long, solid career in the VHL, an improvement on Simmons. Now that Chouinard has returned to try his hand with Belgian goalie Soren Douffet, we here at VHL.com ask, "Where are Spangle's previous players now?" The answer is quite simple for all three, as all of them went on to play hockey elsewhere, but let us take a look at how they are doing and what team they are currently lacing up their skates for. Right winger Mathias Chouinard After his illustrious VHL career, Chouinard followed the path blazed by many players before him and moved to the NHL, joining the New York Islanders. Much like his VHL career, his NHL career has been quite fruitful for him. In just two seasons with the Islanders, Chouinard tallied 142 points in 158 games, along with a +43 plus/minus, and 80 hits, proving that he is just capable on offense and defense as he was in the VHL. In spite of his success with New York, he realized he needed to move on from playing for such a bottom feeder and demanded a trade, listing the Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks, and Minnesota Wild, as the three teams he would like to join the most. Luckily for him, the Islanders granted his wish and sent him to the Los Angeles Kings, where he has spent the past four seasons and has won two Stanley Cups. "Winning a Stanley Cup is like nothing else," said Chouinard. "I loved every second of my time in the VHL, but nothing matches the adrenaline rush you get from lifting that Cup over your head." In his four seasons with the Kings, he has averaged approximately 62 points a year, a +35, and 37 hits, a season. He has also recently signed a three-year contract extension with the Kings and has stated his desire to play the rest of his career in Los Angeles. Simmons has struggled to keep his cool since leaving the VHL Center JaMarcus Simmons As somebody born on a US Army base in Germany, one would expect Simmons to have a lot of fight in him. Sadly, he did not get those genes and is instead a lazy head case. After leaving the VHL, Simmons was convinced he was good enough to play in the NHL, in spite of the fact that nobody wanted him. Eventually, he accepted this fate and signed on with the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL. He had a great season in Syracuse, putting up 50 points and recording 150 hits with the Crunch. His performance garnered the attention of the Calgary Flames, where he wound up signing a contract. Sadly, his only season in Calgary was marred by injury problems and his refusal to play anywhere but the first line. His refusal to practice also rubbed many in Calgary the wrong way and when he was not injured, he was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. Shockingly, his behavior in Calgary turned off many NHL teams from signing him, but not the Vancouver Canucks, who saw the potential he carried. However, he was released after just two weeks for punching Ryan Kesler in the face. Since then, he has not played hockey and has turned to his second passion in life; eating. Not much has changed for Linguini since leaving the VHL Defenseman Mario Linguini There is not too much to report on Linguini, as he just recently left the VHL following Season 37. During his VHL career, he developed a reputation for being a solid blue liner, capable of moments of brilliance, though those moments were few and far between. Since leaving the league, he has joined on with the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. In his first season with the squad, he tallied 20 points, a +15 +/-, and 110 hits. He is currently attempting to find an NHL team for next season, though it seems likely that he will wind up returning to the Penguins due to lack of interest. He is also reportedly considering a move to Europe. Only time will tell if Spangle's return to the VHL will be fruitful or not, but one certainly has to hope that Douffet can reach the heights of Chouinard, rather than being another player to flame out like Simmons. As a goalie, he will have plenty of expectations on his shoulders and a long way to go to become a viable option in the VHL, but according to Spangle, he believes he will be the player to return him to glory. 900 words
  18. Make me.
  19. Can I get a sig for my new goalie?
  20. I shouldn't have just looked up Mathias Chouinard's stats and the fact that I won three straight cups with him from S23-S25. Reminds me of my anger at getting FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY from the HOF.
  21. or was he already retired? How long has it been since he last played?
  22. He may not be a coke addict ( ), but he certainly can be an ass at times. I'm trying to get him to work on it.
  23. Thank you for at least taking the time to respond/read what I had to say.
  24. Believe it or not, Reddit. I have no idea how it worked so well. We posted on quite a few subreddits, but that many new signups? No way. And for a few seasons we got quite a bit from some Latvian sim league. One guy made his way over and brought all his friends (like 30 of them).
