I highly advise @JardyB10 @der meister @Beketov @Devise @hedgehog337 to listen to this.. mostly because I told you to KnightTime Podcast Question Thread This is a division of KnightTime Radio. 14. Full Circle As the weather is getting colder, so too is Phil Bennington. Bennington is currently in the VHLM team. He is on Saskatoon Wild. This team has significant sentiment to his player agent and Hall of Fame Inductee as a Builder Phil Knight. “It was the first VHL-associated team my first ever client played for,” he told VHL.com, almost wiping the tears away from his eyes. “Of course, in those days, each VHLm team was connected to a VHL team. The Wild were the junior team of the Seattle Bears. Phil Gerrard went there after being drafted by Seattle at 7th overall in the S19 draft.” It’s funny after all this time, with Gerrard, Rafter, Villeneuve, Hamilton all gone and Shankly on his way out… 38 full seasons of hockey, the story comes full circle. “Gerrard’s second team was the Toronto Legion, after being coaxed away from Seattle, he headed to their greatest rivals in Toronto. It’s funny to think that Bennington has the same connections in his brief time here. Saskatoon, and since he’s property of the Legion, that’s where he will play his rookie season. It really makes you reflect upon your career.” VHL.com was not sure if this was a hint that Mr. Knight’s time in the VHL is drawing to a close. Knowing his tenacity, it’s unlikely, but when speaking so fondly about the past, and so venomously about the present (see my previous article), it’s not farfetched to wonder what the weight of the words actually are. It would be odd to think Mr. Knight as on his way out, considering he has the brightest star in the VHLm on his hands. None of his client (all but one Hall of Famers), have had any success in the VHLm so this may be a sign of things to come from the English Left Winger. But with his shortened career, it will be tough to make a lasting impact on the VHL. But Bennington is not adverse to go for it. “Honestly, I feel good. I don’t have the amount of practice hours I would like to have but given how I am clicking with my linemates here in Saskatoon, I have every ounce of confidence in my ability to go for it when I get to the VHL.” By “it”, Bennington is referring to the coveted Stolzy Trophy – the VHL’s Top Rookie. This is also a thought that makes Mr. Knight salivate. It is well known that he has always wanted one with his players but they never seem to perform well enough during their rookie campaigns… however, they have also never stayed down in the minors an extra year. Is this what was missing? Is this the secret? I guess we will find out next season!
  15. STHS Well I am back to ranting in the form of a couple of Media Spots today. The reason I am not ranting on the KnightTime air waves (which, by the way, is a much more effective and fulfilling way to rant) is because I am at work until 10:00 tonight. This will give me limited time to get home, eat, and record and edit the 3 podcasts I have to do. I will just record the 2-point podcast, One More Podcast, and just hold off KnightTime until next week. Today what I want to rant about is Phil Shankly’s abysmal shooting percentage this year. I am not sure he even has 10 goals this season. Nothing about Riga’s team is different really, save for the fact that Bobby Digital has retired, but Shankly’s scoring attributes remain unchanged – still 95 scoring, 90 Skating and 90 Puck Handling. So why in the holy bleached asshole of Scotty Campbell is Shankly shooting about a 4.70%? I am pretty sure if Phil Bennington were to be called up this very instant (he has 70 scoring) and placed on that line in Riga, he would do better. So what is with the STHS given some people gold and some people fertilizer? Does the STHS not just work on a formulaic basis (like the ratio between skate/pass/shoot) but as just pick certain player to be bad, no matter what stats and others to be good? I mean, last season Shankly had around a high 9%/ low 10% shooting average, which, with an attribute at 95 you would assume that is pretty standard. So what changed this year? Maybe @hedgehog337 is playing heavy defense, or physical with the lines? No, it still doesn’t make sense dammit, because it’s not like Shankly’s NOT getting shots… he is. He’s getting a lot of shots… but none of them are going in. Him and @der meister's Ravenwing are having rubbish seasons, and honestly, it is demoralizing. It’s performances in the sim like this that make us question why we even bother with it. Should we not just retire and try with another player, like Casey in New York (who is a top candidate for RotY, by the way) and Bennington (who’s leading the VHLM in goals, assists, points, and hits). What’s really the point in getting bent out of shape because the STHS is deciding to freeze us out? I’ll tell you the point – it’s because we’ve put in work into our players. Week in and week out we record podcasts to make our players better, and after all these weeks, we see Riga, the best team in the league with the most goals, and their two best players having fuck-all to do with it, it hurts. Stings like when I pee. So should I bother seeing out Shankly’s career? Yes, of course. He’s still got two seasons after this and loads of money in the bank, and it’s really nice to know that he can’t really have a worse season than he’s having. But one thing is for certain, if I am going to miss one of two point tasks in a week – it will definitely be my runt of an STHS player, Shankly, missing out.

  20. Review: I agree with a lot of the things in here, particularly the podcast bit. It takes about as much time to just LISTEN to a podcast as it does to WRITE a MS. I would love to support by fellow podcasters like @der meister and @Beketov and @JardyB10 and whoever else is doing a consistent show but even if those three are just doing 20 minute episodes (and generally they are longer) that's a solid hour just to grade 3 of them. That is a lot of time.. especially when I have 4 podcasts to record every week. POdcast reviewing by far takes up the most amount of time and I think it should be weighted much more heavily. I also agree with the graphic reviewing. All that takes is a couple of looks and then you write your review... and what's the stipulations of the review? I've seen some 2 sentences reviews? Is that REALLY fair when, if you look at my podcasting reviews.. which has probably some close to 400 words... and on top of that spending half an hour listening to the podcast itself, we definitely need to adjust the weighting. Honestly, some days I do not feel like recording.. I only have fridays and staurdays where I can. I would love to instead, be able to just review podcasts, claim welfare, and be able to reach the cap. That would be terrific. I also believe that the reviewing process should sort of be monitored. I know @DollarAndADream will be looking through everyone's Log's but we should also be looking at the content, the effort, and the substance of the actual reviews, which just brings me back to my point about the effort being put into them. Two quick glances and smash out two sentence vs 30 minutes of listening followed by 200+ words. Even this review, ffs, is about 350 words.. I think reviewing should definitely have more substance that just a "hey nice article. That was interesting." Anyway, that's my take on it @Quik
  21. HAH! That's too funny
  22. oh that is more like it!
  23. Oh dear - that is unusual!
  24. (and yes, I realize this isn't an MS... but it's long enough to be and I figured I could prove my point better in Review format!)
