    Welcome to the Bern Royals!

If you're a recreating member I'm sure you'll already know the best ways to maximize your player's TPE each week.

For new players: this site can be a little difficult to navigate around, so this thread will help you out until you get used to things.

You first start off by claiming the free 30 TPE for creating a player.

Each week you can earn a maximum of 9 TPE/week, excluding uncapped. Here are the normal ways to earn TPE.

-Each week you can do either a Media Spot or a Graphic. You can do one or the other each week. Media Spots are basically 450-550 word newspaper articles. Graphics are more like what you see in other member's sigs. If you want a better example, check a few that are posted in the sections.

For each MS or GFX, you will need two graders to grade the work. Grader's decide how much your Point Task is worth. Once the second grader has locked the thread, you can claim the Point Task for the amount of TPE the graders give you. They are worth a maximum of 6 TPE.

On weeks where you can't find the time to do a Point Task, there is an alternative that is less ideal. You can instead opt to do the Pension Plan. You post in the Pension plan thread and claim a lower amount of TPE than doing a Point Task, which forfeits the right to do a Point Task on that week. If you are a new player you may claim 2 TPE. If you've have one previous player with 400+ TPE/or your current player has surpassed 400 TPE  you may claim 3 TPE. If you've had two or more previous players with 400+ TPE/or you had one previous and your current player is over 400 TPE you may claim 4 TPE. Ideally you will do a point task instead of pension plan, but pension plan is better than nothing.

-After you've finished your PT for that week (Media Spot or GFX), you can also do a Fan 590 or a 2-Point Podcast. Fan 590's are a 150 word article that doesn't need to be graded, so it can be claimed right away. Fan 590s are worth 1 TPE. 2 Point Podcasts are worth 2 Points, and require an 8-10 minute podcast. You can only do either a Fan 590 or a 2 Point Podcast each week, not both.

-The only other way to earn capped TPE is to get a job in the league. Job opportunities are posted Here (LINK NOT UPDATED). There aren't always jobs available, but if you see one you're interested in don't be afraid to apply!

That's everything you can do to earn capped TPE, its impossible to get 9 TPE/week without a job, but you don't need one to be a great player in this league. There are a few other ways to earn TPE, this time uncapped.

-As long as you're in the VHLM, you'll be able to claim 1 TPE, uncapped, from the VHLM Practice Facility. Each week of the regular season a thread will be posted by the VHLM Commissioner. If you post in this thread, you automatically earn 1 TPE for that week, which can be claimed immediately.

-Another area that a lot of members forget it the VHL Fantasy Zone. There are multiple ways to earn uncapped TPE here.

-Each week of the regular season, there will be a thread posted for the VHL Pick 'Em. Three games will be posted that will take place later that week. If you can successfully guess all three winning teams you earn 1 TPE.

-Every two weeks the VHL Predict a Score takes place in a thread. This time only one game is posted, but you have to guess the winner AND the score of the game. If you successfully guess both, you earn 3 TPE.

Since many of you won't know much about the VHL, as you play in the VHLM, you may want to copy the predictions of another member, possibly your GM.

-Sometimes a Fantasy Pool will take place, ranging from NHL predictions to March Madness to College Football. Even if you know nothing about them, making a random ballot is a good idea. Everyone earns TPE for participating, more being earned based on accuracy.

-There is now a VHLM Fantasy Zone as well. The same rules and games apply as the VHL Fantasy Zone, but is only eligible for VHLM Players. All VHLM Players are still eligible to particpate in the VHL Fantasy Zone, so make sure to do both!

So basically you want to make sure that each week, before Sunday at 11:59 you do the following.

-Media Spot or Graphic / Pension Plan
-Fan 590 or Two Point Podcast
    -VHLM Practice Facility
    -VHL Fantasy Zone
    -VHLM Fantasy Zone

Also, I would like to add that you should do your rookie profile as soon as possible, because the 8 uncapped points can really help boost your tpe and stats for your achievement tracker for the end of the year.

You can also write your biography which is a one time claim of up to 10 uncapped tpe. This will consist of childhood, highschool and college (if you went). This could really give you a nice boost.

Doing these will help you be a star for your team, both here in Bern, and where ever you end up once you get to the VHL.

    Cheers!

So - my triple awards precdictions were cancelled.

This sucks for me - but ultimately is good for the Bears.

I now have 28TPE extra to use on Villeneuve. So I'm now at 87 passing.

    Bears Cup hopes strengthen.

(The flip side is that Villeneuve should have been there before the season started but w.e)

I am here, I did get laid off and need to look for work and get a new job ASAP or my family doesn't eat. I've been in Calgary and Edmonton the past 6 days handing out resume's and meeting with reps trying to get going on work. I know my going MIA in the middle of a team PT and start of the season is not ideal and it wears on you guys. I am sorry and would like to thank Phil and Molholt for their outstanding work on the team PT and Higgins for doing our lines up, they seem to be working in glorious form. Also, my co-GM, I can always count on you DT to keep things positive in my MIA FML days.

The Seattle Bears look a little bit different. Sucks we lost Kurri to free agency too but I wish him luck in his new home, kind of. We drafted the great Pablo Escabar but I think our most important haul was that of James Faraday. I'll be honest, I wasn't sure where I would be to start the season and neither did some of the other roster players. I'm glad that the team decided to focus on winning and I really think we can challenge Quebec and knock them down. We ft people under the cap decently enough and i've taken a pay cut at this point. I think we will make our first playoff appearance since our rebuild commenced. We should be competitive for at least two to three seasons so that will be a nice change of pace.

We will honestly challenge Quebec now and like I said before, i'm not afraid of them. The real question is if i'll put up 30 goals again. I sure hope so.

Komarov has been quiet from the media for a long time, well he does not forget to train it has not been as many hoped.

This season seems different to start, Komarov made huge strides this off season. His defensive game might be the best you see in the VHL, he has somehow managed to get bigger and meaner.

What does this mean for opponents facing off against Komarov and Davos, well we saw a glimpse last year of the beast that was expected. We expect to see his name this year among the top of the hits, and blocked shots.

His biggest improvement, however may have to be his shot. Komarov seems to have learned how to shoot and with his big frame this may not be good for opponents. He is expected to pick up his offense a bit this season.

This has Davos fans very excited to see with the addition of Richardson seeing to almost wake up the Russian beast. He was seen saying after the trade "They brought him in to aid me, and to push me to be my best." "They know I'm highly competitive and when I heard they brought in a big name defender I knew I had to work harder to earn my ice".

I won't quit easily I may not become what many thought, however I still aim to be a great defender than Davos can be proud of.

    He's at it again.

Sam 'Streetlight' Helberg is making a return to podcasting. Owner of one of the longest running podcast series the VHL has seen, the voice behind "Streetcast" is once again promoting a new series that may or may not succeed. If his recent attempts are any indication, then the odds are this one will not last more than a couple weeks. However, word on the street is that he has a renewed spirit when it comes to the VHL. He is finding more enjoyment with his current team than he ever did with any of 500 teams for which Keiji Toriyama played, and he wants to make Lloyd Light a great player.

Streetlight is currently running a short off-season series in which he discusses the player movement around the league, but that will last no more than a couple weeks. Once that series runs its course, it is likely that he will move on to his new project, the title of which appears somewhere in this article. Sources close to Streetlight say that he is more excited for this new series than he has been about any of his other podcasting endeavors, even though it strays from the analytical side of the league which he very much enjoys.

Streetlight loves numbers and stuff, but that's not what this new series will be about.

When coming up with an idea for his new series, Streetlight went through a few options. The first one that came to mind was a weekly guest show where he discusses a different member each week and brings them on for an interview. There are several complications with such a series, but the benefit of having a second voice on the show for at least a portion of the time is enticing. However, finding a dedicated podcast partner would accomplish that same goal. With a new guest for an interview each week, though, listeners would get to hear from a variety of members and perhaps even be on the show themselves. A second idea for a series was one that actually developed in name before concept. The show would consist of Streetlight, and maybe a co-host, discussing rumors around the league. Each episode would run approximately 15 minutes with maybe one or two topics of discussion.

Ultimately, the second of those ideas is what he settled on. Of all the podcasts he has done, this series will likely require the most creativity from Streetlight. It is important to note that while the podcast will portray all rumors as actual things that actual people are talking about, a lot of them will simply be made up. Potential topics would include things such as "Davos puts Devin Sundberg on the trade block" or "Munk is being considered for commissioner" or "Blue Team wants Streetlight to run the VHFL." Some things he talks about will have truth behind them, but the show will consist primarily of made up rumors.

An artist's depiction of the upcoming series.

Streetlight will be allowing for fan interaction. When the series eventually starts up in a couple weeks, he will be taking requests for rumors that you would like to here his talk about on the show. He also will not hesitate to take things that you say to him in private and use them as points of discussion, so be careful what you say to him.

Lastly, anyone who might be interested in co-hosting this rumor mill of a podcast should send a message to Streetlight, and he will get back to you.

PS : I'm posting for Streetlight since he has problem with his computer.

    DON'T
Don't count out the Helsinki Titans. Seriously, this team is poised to make a run for a playoff spot in the European conference. The only problem is that they apparently cannot trade their goaltender, Mike Szatkowski Jr., until half way through the season due to salary cap limitations. This is a major problem for the Titans because Szatkowski will be taking games away from the infamous HEL G. If HEL G were given the reigns for the entire season he could put the Titans ahead of the Cologne Express by himself. Then you factor in the supporting cast on defense of Dick Whitman paired alongside Penis Anthony Hudson and you've got a D-core that could only be stopped by the undrafted Cawkh Blawka. On forward the Titans are running one of the deepest units in all of pro-simulation sports. Tyson Stokes and Oskars Harumpf are ecstatic to finally be rid of the cancers that were Jackson Miller and James Faraday. The duo of Stokes and Harumpf should be able to run away with the scoring title this season, easily obtaining 250 points a piece. In the front office we have Don Drapers alter ego who will be rigging games on weekends to give the team a little extra advantage, which will result in a record setting 144 point season for the Titans.

    WAKE
It is time for Jardy to wake up from his annual off-season black out. Jardy Buncleworth is known worldwide for his disappearing act during the off-season. Some say he goes into a deep sleep to recover from the sleepless nights of riggery throughout the long 72 game season. Others say he meets with STHS creator, Simon Tremblay, at an unknown location in France to discuss the future of STHS. Obviously none of that is true at all, we all know that Jardy goes on an epic 5 day bender filled with Canadian beer, exotic Saskatchewan women, racist story telling, and the occasional gay bar. Then he goes into a week long 'hibernation' if you will, but it's more of a black out state to be honest. The process to get back into the swing of rigging again is intense and complex. It consists of driving tractors across the vast plains of western Canada, followed by self induced isolation in the simtop room.

    THE BEAR
The coolest captain in Seattle Bear history has finally been inducted to the Hall of Fame. This induction now puts the final touch on my first player in the VHL and is one of my top accomplishments in the league. I would like to thank Greg Harbinson for trading for me and saving me from the wasteland of the Riga Reign, otherwise this induction would never happen. Now with my third player I am back on the Seattle Bears, being traded here only days before Higgins was inducted to the Hall of Fame. If this isn't a sign of good things to come in Seattle, then I don't what would be. James Faraday is far from being a Hall of Fame caliber player, but winning the next cup with Seattle is all I need. Also I've been looking around the Bears locker room for Greg, but I can't find him anywhere. Can someone please tell him to stop hiding.

This was a really busy week for me. Finding out that Helsinki was rebuilding, being traded to Seattle, setting up the VHLM sim from scratch, preparing the VHFL Beta, and other random things. Last minute weird media spots always treat me though. Have a good one.
