40+ goalie wins

Canadiens are losing goaltending battle for first time in playoffs

While we missed our predictions post this season and will continue next season with a 40+ goalie win prediction article, we decided to post a end of season report for this season.

40+ goalie wins is one of the toughest to achieve in the league and only the best of the best ever hit that mark. Usually only 1 or 2 goalies achieve this every season. It takes a lot of skill, determination and will to achieve this status over a grueling VHL schedule. This season 2 goalies achieved this feat and not surprisingly those 2 goalies are in the Continental cup finals.

Our first goalie and wins leader is, Artem Tretiak @Molholt, he finished the season with an amazing 47 wins and has helped his team Malmo reach the Continental cup this season. Artem was a huge surprise this season as he has never finished with more then 30 wins. Artem is a big goalie with great rebound control and reflexes. If we would have done our predictions this season, Artem would most likely not have made our list but he has surprised not only us but the whole league.

His dedication to his training and his team has made him one of the top goalies this season. Artem is also close to winning the cup and needs one more solid game to achieve that feat. This will be Artem's first game in the Continental Cup but he is no stranger to the finals as he did win the cup with Malmo back in S75 when he was the teams backup.

The second goalie and Artems competitor in the Continental finals is no other then Rara Rasputin @Victor. Rara has featured a few times on our predictions list and has been playing very well. This will be Rara's second consecutive 40+ win season which is a very hard feat to achieve. This season he has achieve 41 wins compared to 40 last season.

No one knows how Seattle keeps getting into the finals but a lot of that has to be due to the great goaltending they consistently receive from Rara. Seattle find themselves down in the Continental cup and will need Rara to stand on his head for the remaining 2 games if they want to win. Rara has previously won the cup back in S77 and will be looking to secure his second cup if the Bears manage to come from behind and win the series.

It is no surprise that the two goalies that have 40+ wins are now battling it out in the finals. Both goalies have been playing well and over the next few days we will find out who the ultimate victor is of the battle of the goalies. We will also get to see these goalies play next season as they are still fairly young. You can expect one, if not both, grace our prediction list next season. There is also a few up and coming goalies next season that will potentially have a shot as well. Stay tuned as we will post our predictions no later then a few games into the season.

I never know how to feel about goalies with high numbers of wins over the course of a season! There's significant variance between goalies producing that many wins in terms of TPE, as well as huge differences in the supporting cast (and GAA) between them, to say nothing of the fact that Bana's somehow managed to get another Bears team to the Finals. As far as some learning points for this article, I noticed a couple of instances of noun/# agreement, e.g.

Punctuation wise, there are a couple of unnecessary commas:

Our first goalie and wins leader is, Artem Tretiak,

Another way to construct this portion of the sentence is as follows:

In this case, you have a multi-word 'object'; in putting Tretiak's name between the commas, you equate "first goalie and wins leader" with that player. Think of commas as a really brief pause - here, you introduce his 'title,' then name him (the commas kind of serve the purpose of "is" in the first version of the sentence). Another way to construct the sentence is using the "is" and "who" you put in the original version of the sentence without the commas:

Our first goalie and wins leader is Artem Tretiak, who finished the season with...

Otherwise there aren't a ton of comments for me to make. Nice work :)

As an aside, it's weird to see your username without your active player being a goalie! It's even been a few seasons since Eagles retired and I'm still confused by it.
