Game 1: S40 HoF Tourney

Jala

Recommended Posts

Both sides line up for the draw.

What's this? Daniel Braxton and Japinder Singh are jawing and slashing each other. This could get ugly.

And it does! We have a fight. Braxton said something to Singh that got him riled up and they're gonna drop 'em!

They're toe-to-toe at centre. They're just eyeing each other up, a head fake by Singh and OH JESUS MURPHY!

BRAXTON JUST ABOUT TOOK OFF SINGH'S HEAD WITH THAT HIT! Singh went in for the head fake and got caught on the jaw! He's up but very disoriented.

Braxton gets another on the chin before Singh ties him up with his jersey. They're wrestling around, Braxton has his left out. Singh blocks but Braxton gets a couple good shots in before he drops Singh to the ice and the linesmen get involved. What a fight!

Get out the calculators, that is certainly going to be an instigator to Braxton and he looks to get 17 PIMs for that. 5 for fighting, 2 minute minor and a 10 minute misconduct for instigating.

And with that, the Old Boys are going to get a superb chance to take a 2-goal lead as they have a 2 minute PP ahead of them.

With all that excitement over, let's get back to some hockey.

Old Boys are on the PP but can't get anything going, as the New Kids are the ones with the puck and Reikkinen wrists one on net!

Stopped by Shaw easily.

Face-off in the Old Boys zone. Lars Berger wins it for the Old Boys and they move up. Brekkar shoots!

Wide. Berger shoots!

Wide. Berger shoots!

Stopped by Labatte.

Chershenko wins the draw and chips the puck up to the ever dangerous Reikkinen. Reikkinen moves through the neutral zone with great speed and crosses the blue line. He stops and winds up!

He unleashes a howitzer! It's a twine-seeking missile of rubber!

The New Kids (Post-S18) , Tukka Reikkinen 1 (Ryan Sullivan, Alexander Chershenko) at 6:12 (SH)

Reikkinen scores! He finally makes good on all that early pressure he was putting on Shaw, and the score is tied at 1 a side.

Some great hockey here so far.

Penalty ends and we're at even strength.

Old Boys have the puck and are looking for the lead.

Strauss wires a slapper! Kicked aside by Labatte, but it goes right to Jardy.

Jardy rigs! I mean shoots!

HE HITS THE POST! So close to taking the lead!

Old Boys keep it in and keep pressing.

Tarik Saeijs lets one go, deflected by Mathias Chouinard!

Labatte is there to knock it down and cover up.

The two sides are playing more defensively and we go to 10:21 through the first without another shot. Jenkins ices the puck and the Old Boys can try and set up a play to take the lead.

Nothing comes off the draw and both sides play a dump and chase game. 11:19 through and Chershenko gets nailed by Phil Gerrard and is slow to get up, but he looks alright.

A dreary end to the first as no more shots are fired, and two minor hits are dished out before the buzzer sounds to end the first.

A strong start for both sides but neither is giving an inch in the neutral zone and the game came to a crawl for the second half of the first there.

Shots after the first are 8-5 in favour of the New Kids and the score is tied at 1-1.

We'll be back after this intermission for the second.

We're back for the second.

Goalies are switched for the second, and Daisuke Kanou comes in for the Old Boys while CAL G comes in for the New Kids.

Fowler and Jenkins line up for the draw. Fowler wins it back.

Singh gets hit by Pavel Koradek and turns the puck over. The New Kids move into the Old Boys zone with the puck.

Phil Rafter gets the puck and shoots! Wide. He picks up the puck and shoots again!

Kanou is there and looks sharp early in the second and smothers the puck.

Old Boys win the draw and move into the New Kids zone.

Puck dropped to James Bencharski who steps into a slapper!

Deflected by Saeijs, but it hits the crossbar and goes out of play.
